In part two of the Shipwreck Island quadrilogy, Sarah Robinson and her family are still trapped on the mysterious South Pacific island. They've found another girl on the island, with a crazy story about being kidnapped by someone calling himself the "curator." Could he be responsible for the disappearance of Sarah's dad and stepbrother?

The mystery deepens in this adventure/fantasy novel, and I can't really describe it without spoilers. Needless to say, there's attempts at survival and a lot of family conflicts within the new step-family. There's danger beyond what I would have expected from a middle grade book, but the characters have heart and courage, and I'm enjoying reading about their journey.

A fine continuation of the series, but so short! This book was only 135 pages, give or take. I was surprised - it ended very abruptly, feeling more like the end of a chapter than the end of a stand-alone book.

I enjoyed this one just like the first one. The only problem I had with it was how short it was. Just when it started getting good, it was over. Looking forward to the third book in the series now. Although it is a short one too.

This is the second book in the "Shipwreck Island" series called "Lost" by S.A. Bodeen. In this book The Robinson's continue their adventure in the wilderness. They are working to survive on the island while many mysterious things are happening around them. Many of the animals they see are crossbreeds like an alligator shark or hawk snakes. They find a girl on beach and she tells them about the Keeper which scares the family. Later Sarah's Dad and one of her brothers have disappeared. The family needs to find the missing members of their family and also find a way to survive on this mysterious and dangerous island. What will happen when they finally find the keeper? And will their family reunite...
This book is an amazing book and is filled with action and cliffhangers. I recommend this book to people who love a good mystery and fantasy.

This is another one of those situations where I didn't actually enjoy the book that much because I'm too old for it, but I didn't want to downrate a perfectly good childrens' book that I'm pretty sure I would have loved if it were out when I was ten.

This is a perfectly good entry in the Shipwreck Island series, so if you liked the first one, you'll like this. It's even shorter, so the pacing is even faster. The writing is simplistic, but it's definitely not bad.

So, three stars for my enjoyment, but four stars for the book's quality.

Sarah, Marco, Nacho, Yvonna and John have been shipwrecked on an island after going on a holiday cruise aboard a supposedly luxury yacht. They've had a terrible first night on the beach, seen incredibly weird creatures and found an abandoned dwelling. Thrown together on this 'holiday/honeymoon, Sarah, Marco and Nacho (brothers) are forced to get to know each other after their parents got married, and they have to work together to survive.

Now they've found a girl, who tells them an incredible story which is very hard to believe. She was kidnapped by someone called The Curator and she escaped. She's been left on the island by people who've kidnapped her grandfather and his boat. They are looking for something.....

This fantastic series continues with more and more intrigue. Lost is preceded by Shipwreck Island and followed by Trapped and Found.

Book #83 Read in 2015
Lost by S.A. Bodeen (YA)

This is the sequel to Shipwreck Island and a good series for middle school readers. Lost picks up right where the first book picks up so reading the first one is suggested. The family is still marooned on the island and trying to figure out how to survive until they are rescued. The island continues to be scary with its unknown creatures that shouldn't exist. There will definitely be a third book in this series as this one ends with quite the cliffhanger. It was a good, quick read. I received a copy of this book from Netgalley in exchange for a review.

In this second installment of shipwreck, a blended family's honeymoon/vacation goes awry and they are stranded on a sinister island with strange beasts. A girl they find warns them of the curator who freezes animals and humans. For a realistic start, the book takes a sci fi twist. Very short and fast moving, this adventure book would be great for reluctant readers.

I think I would perhaps like these more if I wasn't trying to read them while traveling across the country with four children. I will try the next book in the series but if it doesn't improve I may give up on the series.

I think that my age ruined these books for me, but at the same time, I don't know. The kids are too mature for their age, the adults too stupid, I'm not fond of the direction its going, I was hoping for a survival type thing. ill read the other ones because of the challenge, but I'm sad that I am not getting what I was hoping for

This is a short book, but manages to squeeze in quite a bit of story. I think it would be an excellent read for a younger audience getting into chapter books.

Great sequel. Filled with mild mystery and some action.
But then again, I think this person took LOST and upped the fantasy, then made it for kids.
But it’s still great, and I rate it five stars!!
I’m going to read the third one next.

I have been wanting to read this book ever since I read book one, Shipwreck Island, almost a year ago. I really liked the first book. It was exciting and pretty awesome. But also so short, and it ended pretty mean. So I was pretty excited to get this ARC from Macmillan. Had to read it right away. I'm glad I did.

Though I didn't love this book as much as a loved book one, yet I still enjoyed it a whole lot. I just had some issues with the writing this time. Sigh. It felt a bit weird to me. But I still adored the characters and I found the plot to be all kinds of exciting. The cover for both books are all kinds of pretty.

I just. I wish these books had been longer. This one is less than 140 pages. And it is so little. And even with these books being so short, I still have to wait a whole year between them. I don't get that. Publishing is so weird sometimes. Hmph. But even so. I don't really mind waiting. Though I do wish I could read more from this story right away, because oh. Lost ends in such a cliffhanger. Things are not going well for these adorable characters. And I am dying to read more. Fingers crossed that there will be a third book, and I'm hoping it might end up being longer. <3 And maybe get published earlier. Will see :) But I shall cross my fingers. Either way, though, I will read the next book. And hoping there will be many next books. Because I'm curious about how everything will end. And I would love to read much more of this story. Really like it.

I won't be saying much about this sequel. And I won't be sharing all the things that happen in book one. Though I will talk a little bit about both. Anyway. Lost is told from the point of view of twelve year old Sarah. And her new stepbrother Marco, who is the same age. I liked reading from them both. Though I might have forgotten about the switched point of views sometimes, and didn't realize whom I was reading from at first :p Still. I had some issues with the writing, but I liked reading from them both.

The plot in these books are about a family stuck on an island. Which is turning out to be pretty creepy. And I loved that a whole lot. I liked reading about their family, though some things were a bit silly for me. Sigh. Yet I liked the plot a whole lot. I liked reading about the creepy deformed animals. And about all the other things too. Creepy islands are pretty awesome to read about. I liked reading about how they are trying to survive, building things and such. It was short, yes, but also a lot of fun. I enjoyed it a lot.

I won't say more, as this book is really short, and it isn't out until the end of July, but I do want to say that I thought it was a great sequel. I'm giving it three stars as I had some issues, but I also really enjoyed this middle grade book. It was fun and a bit creepy. I do think you should all read this series. Lost is an amazing sequel. It's full of exciting things and creepy animals. It's sort of a book about survival. I liked it. Huge thank you to Ksenia at Macmillan Kids for sending me this gorgeous book. <3

I don’t read a lot of Middle Grade but S.A. Bodeen is on my auto buy list and Lost is a perfect example of why. I don’t believe that all children’s fiction necessarily appeals to all adults nor should it…but there are a few authors that somehow manage to write in such a way that those boundaries are easily crossed. S.A. Bodeen is one such writer.

Sarah and her step brother Marco take turns telling the story in Lost, the second in S.A. Bodeen’s Shipwreck Island series. We start off right where we left off after Shipwreck Island – so I definitely recommend reading that book first or you really will not enjoy this one as much as you should.

The more Sarah and Marco explore the island, the more mysteries and questions are unearthed. Strange and unusual occurrences…strange animals that shouldn’t exist…Lost has it all. Add in a blended family trying to get to know each other under these stressful circumstances and you have the ingredients for a great read.

I am devouring the Shipwreck Island series and can’t wait for the next installment. I encourage even those hesitant to pick up Middle Grade to give this series a shot.

This is the second book in the Shipwreck Island series and is filled with adventure. Sarah Robinson, her father, her new stepmother and two new stepbrothers were shipwrecked on the island in book 1 where they had all sorts of dangerous adventures.

In this episode they find a new person. Cash is another twelve-year old like Sarah and Marco. She tells a wild story about how she ended up on the island. The parents don't believe her but the kids who have seen things they haven't told their parents do.

The kids do more exploring as they look for Sarah's father who had gone off to cut down bamboo to make a shelter to get them off the sand. The youngest boy takes off and now Sarah and Marco are looking for both of them.

They see a valley filled with animals that don't exist in nature and are almost caught by a sharkodile before they discover a cave filled with freezer units. Maybe the Curator that Cash told them about wasn't only something she made up?

This story, like the first, ends with a cliffhanger. Middle school students will be eager for the next volume to find out what is really going on here on this mysterious island.

What would happen if you were stuck on an island with paranormal things happening? That is what happened in S.A Bodeen's Shipwreck Island. This book has a lot of suspense, such as when the characters were running from an orb in the sky. It also has a lot of mystery, as to what happens next. An example is when the characters Sarah and Marco find something astonishing, but will they find out what it is? Something else that you will see in this book is drama. The character Sarah is afraid of almost everything on the island, and this gets very annoying at times. This book is a very fun and exiting thing to read, and I think almost everyone would enjoy this book who likes suspense and mystery will like this book.
