Redeeming Justice

Rate this book
Sometimes …Happily Ever After comes with a price

Alex Marquez wears many hats. Sometimes he’s the slightly patrician Don of a family with deep Spanish roots. Other times he’s a brilliant tech-God and CEO of an exclusive security agency. He’s also a boss, a musician, and a fierce friend. At the core though he’s a former Special Forces Commander, wounded in action, haunted by the heavy burdens of regret and what ifs that linger to this day. For him, personal redemption would never come. Too much darkness, not enough light.

And then Meghan O’Brien swoops into his life. She’s a ball busting curvy goddess who instantly pushes all Alex’s buttons.

When ghosts from the past threaten to destroy their relationship, Alex pushes her away. Meghan has a promising life ahead while his was blown to bits in a war zone. Hurt and bewildered, she comes to realize that loving Alex as she did was not a guarantee of an easy future. He had demons and if she took him on, those nightmares and the emotional aftermath were going to be coming along for the ride.

Was the redemption Alex sought to be found in her arms? Would finding his soul through the love of another finally send the demons packing and lay the past to rest?

4.5 Tortured Hero Stars!!!

Finally I read Major Alex Marquez's book and let me say I didn't think that any of the Justice Brother's could outshine Cam from Broken Justice, boy was I wrong!! Alex shines just a bit brighter....what is it about a tortured hero, they instantly capture my heart.

All of the Justice Brothers have emotional scars from a bombing in Afghanistan, but Alex's scars run much deeper, not only was he severely wounded but as the leader he felt responsible for every man who lost their life that horrible day. Six years later he still feels not only the pain from his injuries but also from the loss of the men under his command, he has survivors guilt and cannot let go. Until she comes into his life....

Meghan O'Brian is tough as nails, growing up in Boston with a police Det. Father and three alpha overprotective brothers, this outgoing feisty redhead is just what Alex needs. Meghan decides to finally meet the "Major" who was her deceased fiancee's commanding officer. It's was Alex's compassionate letters to her during that dark period that helped her through those difficult days. They have keep in touch over the years but Meghan decides to meet the Major in person and finally put that part of her past behind her.

Her short visit turns into an extended stay as Alex is instantly attracted to the spunky, curvy redhead, and the attraction becomes mutual after Meghan gets to know him. Once it's apparent that Alex is finally showing some glimpses of his old self, the "Justice Family" engulfs Meghan in their fold. It was fun to catch up to Cam & Lacey from Broken Justice and Drae & Tori from Fixing Justice.

 photo 1409526122070_zpscdyvfrgv.jpg

Alex and Meghan are smokin' hot together, they click and Meghan totally fits into the family fold. Everything is going great until the anniversary day of the bombing....and all Alex's guilt comes back to haunt him and he goes off grid.

I totally loved Alex & Meghan! This was the last Justice Brother but it looks like Suzanne Halliday will be giving us some more of this "Family" in a follow up book "Family Justice"...hopefully soon!!

Doesn't matter how many times I've read this book and the whole series I am still blown away with the continuity and the smoothness of the read. There's no errors. I've been invested since 2015 with the characters, the stories and their lives.

It's my go to series and I've yet to find one that measures up to the perfection that is Justice and Family Justice.

Characters that you can't help but fall in love with and stories that have you begging for more.

I was really hoping the author would take a new approach and give the readers something original with Alex’s love story. I didn’t get my wish, as one again a naive girl falls under the spell of one of the Justice Brothers. The leading man is haunted by his past and ruins the relationship. Then its the Justice Brothers to the rescue. Sound familiar? There are more sex scenes than context, which was disappointing as Alex and Meghan could hold their own, without always having to be in the throws of passion.
This book copies the first two book so much, that one sexual scene that explores the inexperience girl taking charge, is exactly like an encounter between Cameron and Lacey and also between Drae and Victoria.
It’s a shame the author didn’t use more imagination, as she gave the readers interesting characters, a beautiful setting, strong loyalties but the same plot 3 times in a row. It’s only because of the dynamics between the couples that I rated this book with 3 Stars and not 2.

I was pulled right into this story. The story has laughs, secrets, and heartbreak.

If you have not read the below I would recommend reading those books(s) first
Broken Justice (Justice Brothers #1)
Fixing Justice (Justice Brothers, #2)

This is Meghan and Alex’s story. Alex is a man with many hats. He tries to take care of everyone. He is also a little broken from things that happens to him and his team. Meghan was pulled into his life but he continues to push her away. He thinks he is too broken for the likes of her. But can she prove him wrong? Or will she need to finally move on?

I loved these characters and the side characters. I felt I could connect with the characters and the story was a great read.

I recommend this book.

~this review may contain minor spoilers~

“So. What do you think? How soon will it take Big Daddy to screw things up? After all, we've both been there, done that with these Justice Brothers.”
“Hmmm. You have a good point,” Tori replied. “Draegyn was the Crown Prince of Denial and like you've said, Cameron was a runner. I wonder what fuckery Alex has up his sleeve.”

If there is one thing I have learned to expect from the Justice Brothers, it's to buckle in for a bumpy ride. Sexy as hell, Yes; but chock full of emotion and heartbreak. This installment did not disappoint~

~Alex 'Big Daddy' Marquez is a man of many faces; Boss man, Family man, Tech guru, and Genius. But buried underneath it all is a man haunted by his past, living with self-imposed guilt over the lives lost under his command while serving in the Special Forces and dealing everyday with the painful reminders of his time in Afghanistan. Watching his fellow Justice Brothers find the loves of their lives and start families is a heavy reminder of all that is missing from his life, and all that he feels he doesn't deserve. But he's learning to make peace with it, as best he can, til a fiery Irish Goddess comes crashing into his life completely upending it and throwing him off his perfectly controlled balance.

“He's brilliant, in a scary, are you fucking kidding me way. You'd be amazed at the well known people and high powered organizations that come around begging for his expertise.”
“But the man's an island unto himself,” Lacey added. “It's like he knows something the rest of us mere mortals don't. Everyone that is except our husbands.”

~Meghan 'Irish' O'Brien is a self-proclaimed BBBB (Ball Busting Boston Bitch). An Irish beauty with a take no bull attitude who has no problem calling people out on their shit. A former teacher with a thirst for knowledge and adventure on a cross-country road trip. When she makes her way through Arizona, she decides to drop in on an old acquaintance; someone who helped her through a dark time in her life, though she has never met him face to face. Nothing could have prepared her for what would happen when she dropped in on Major Alex Marquez, or how swiftly and irrecoverably her life would change after that fateful day.

There is no denying the intense attraction between the two, or the connection they form right from the start; but nothing is ever easy when falling for a Justice Brother. Demons and guilt block their path at every turn, Alex masters the art of the push/pull tug-of-war, and control is something he needs in every aspect of his life. Loving Alex will never be easy, he comes with a closet-full of emotional baggage he may never be able to get rid of, and he will push her away at every turn thinking she deserves better; is she strong enough to take all that on, does she love him enough to be able to help him through his darkness, and most importantly-will he let her?

“From the second you walked through my door I've thought of nothing but being inside you, Meghan. I want to fuck you so hard that you won't be able to walk afterward. Be so deep that you'll feel the imprint of my cock forever. Watching you come has become like an obsession and I don't know what to do about it.”

I very quickly became addicted to this series and all of it's characters. These guys are one of a kind; they are sexy, dominate, loyal....and kinda dumb when it comes to love. I mean really, they wear the asshat badge so very well but at least they eventually come to realize it and go above and beyond to fix what they broke. They are a family and stand by each other through anything, even if they are the bringers of their own problems. I knew right from the get go that Alex's struggles would most likely be the worst, just because of his severe inner struggles with guilt. I was not wrong. The only difference was, this one snuck up on me; the author had me feeling pretty damn comfortable before it all epically blew up in my face. Even with his bright shining moment of douchdom, I fell in love with Big Daddy in a big way. I just wanted him to find the happiness he thought he didn't deserve, and FYI-dude was smokin friggin hott in the bedroom...or wherever ;) Once again insta-love was thick in the air, which generally drives me batshit crazy, but it was buried behind so much denial and fear that it was easy for me to look past it. I loved getting back into the lives off all of the characters, seeing where the other brothers and their wives were was amazing and the way they immediately took to Meghan, especially the wives, fed my hope for their futures. I was EXSTATIC to learn that there would be at least one more book in this series, I am far from ready to say goodbye to this crew. Suzanne Halliday has most definitely landed herself a permanent spot on my 'One-Click Addiction' list and I don't see that ever changing.

He was overcome with the deluge of feelings her presence in his life invited. It was heart-pounding, kiss-me-till-I'm-dying passion wrapped in a perfect cloud of love. He couldn't breathe without her in his life. It sounded so simple when he put it like that.

Read in the box set.
What the hell. Hoped Alex would have a good story but it was the worst of the three even with the twist about who Meghan was.
Hero acting like a dominant jerk in the bedroom was okay, but his angst over Meghan’s ex fiancée was so stupid. David had been dead YEARS. Was Meghan not meant to move on with her life after David died.
The way he was cowardly in getting Meghan to leave was nasty.

Conflicted on stars to give this one, I liked the story and characters, but it deviated way to far to "shades of grey" behaviour, love hot scenes as much next as the next person, not a prude by any means, but I actually just stared slipping pages of kindle to by pass most of it, I wish that had put more story and less dom/sub behaviour. But again I did like the story :)

3.5 stars. Enjoyed it so much more than the last one. I was really looking forward to Alex's story. I like him a lot and I loved Meghan. She rocked! Alex was a jerk. Super jerk. She forgave too easily - which is a theme with these books, but she did not appear weak in doing so like Tori did in the last book. Overall it is an entertaining series.

Meh. DNF. Basically same as last book.

Man: “I’m never getting married.” Then sexy woman shows up and his assholishness comes out in full force, “I want you but I don’t want to want you so I’m going to send a crap ton mixed signals and hurl anger at you when I can’t control myself.” 🙄

THIS IS A REVIEW FROM THE BOX SET.

Suzanne Halliday was brand spanking new to me when I met her in ARR's BOOM world. I enjoyed her so much in there that I knew I had to hit up her backlist and fast. Well lucky me y'all she had a new set outand I totally jumped on it! Suzanne wowed and amazed me in a whole lot of ways with this sexy, suspenseful series.

The Justice Brothers box set was really, really good... three standalone full length books packed with a whole lot of intensity, steam, action, twists, heat, heart, unexpected emotions, and irresistible alphas. Each book was written in third person (not a huge fan of this but she worked it.) / dual point of view in each book.

Broken Justice was the first up with Lacey and Cameron's story and THIS one might just be my top favorite. These two.... gah they made my heart bleed but it was so so worth it. Fixing Justice was the second with Tori and Draegyn's story and these two are never going to be the same after these opposites cross paths in a story that'll leave you breathless. Redeeming Justice rounds it all out as the third with Meghan and Alex's story and these two had me rooting so hard for them from the sidelines the entire emotional journey.

All three books in this box set were unforgettable, unputdownable, and unstoppable in every way. Suzanne has created stories that'll touch your heart yet also having you grabbing a fan to cool off.

I highly recommend this set.

Alex Marquez is a man with a strong moral code that it maybe a big part of his downfall. He is so mired in guilt and has taken personal responsibility for every person who died in his command. His atonement for that heavy burden is denying himself love and happiness. It was working pretty well, at least in his estimation, until the gorgeously voluptuous Meghan O'Brien comes to the Villa for a visit. During the darkest hours of his recovery they'd continued to correspond after his initial condolence letter to her. An in-person meet is on her agenda during a roadtrip. That he was gobsmacked by her beauty....let's just say he was stunned almost speechless. For her part, Meghan wasn't expecting this gorgeous man who opened the door. Their attraction is instant and electric. She has him doing things so out of character that he's almost unrecognizable by his Justice family. It's not all sunshine and roses though. His mood swings almost gave her whiplash until she finally forces him to listen to her about her dead fiance. But it all comes crashing down when he forgets to remember a certain date. Cam, Drae and Tori take him to task and finally make him see just how skewed his think is and what he's about to lose. Now he has to convince Meghan he's worth the risk and how much he loves her. It's not going to be an easy task.

History and guilt...love and redemption. Meghan and Alex’s story has both. They have a unique beginning, but also a chemistry that is probably the best out of all the brothers storylines. The addition of a Boston family and the addition of Lacey and Tori helping out the new couple was fantastic.

This story is well written and quite entertaining. There are ups and downs and my heart broke for them both as he dealt with his guilt and sorrow from the war bombing. The brothers were all present and their love and loyalty shone in this story. Carmen was a rock star in this book and I loved the additional information about others such as Jasper.

I would read this series in order and look forward to seeing if more books revisit the Justice family.

The Major and the Bombshell (my name for this book) are two characters with so much fire from their first look at each other you know things are going to combust on the page. Alex who has the weight of the world on his shoulders needs Megan shining light to ease all he blames of himself. This book is a roller coaster of emotions that kept me from putting it down. One thing that I loved is Megan is not a stick figure size 2 but she's a real woman. Suzanne Halliday just keeps you happy and wanting more at the same time. I finish a book happy and content but can't wait for the next book lol. Thats what makes her one of my favorite authors!!!

Brilliant.

Tortured soul Alex Marquez battling his war induced demons meets his soul match in a stunning Irish gym teacher from Boston, massage therapist, kinesiology guru and massive lottery winner Meghan. Their love flourishes in the Sedona AZ desert until Alex’s demons come to a head on the anniversary of a massive suicidal bombing in Afghanistan killing Meghan’s fiancé David. Alex feels responsible and brutally pushes Meghan away. Will true love find it’s was for these star crossed loves ? Read this excellent book to find out if they have their HEA.

I love books with patriots and really wanted to like this series. I’ve run into the same issues with all three books, though, that’s made that hard. My take on these books so far:
Pros:
-Good storylines
-Great H & h chemistry
Cons:
-H & h have these over-the-top fights/reactions that leave you shaking your head and frankly, liking the characters a lot less
-(this is a first for me) the language/vulgarity got old

I liked this book the least. It seemed to be less about the relationship building and more about the sex between the two. I ended up skipping a bunch. But the ending was fabulous and earned a start on its own.

I have really enjoyed this series. The books were all tied together without repeating big chunks of dialog like many authors do. Hate that!!! This series moved right along with a whole string of emotions that we all could relate to.

Redeeming Justice was an utterly phenomenal book that I was hooked into from the very first word! I have read all of Suzanne Halliday's books, and I've loved them all, but this one is by far my favorite. Redeeming Justice is the 3rd book in her Justice Brothers series, and it tells the story of the last Justice Brother, Alexander Marquez. (Note: To fully enjoy this book, you should read the first 2 books in the series, Broken Justice and Fixing Justice.)

This book tells the story of Alex Marquez, and man who has some serious demons in his past. He's seen quite a few dark things in his past, and those demons like to rear their ugly head quite often for this brooding, but seriously charming man. While still battling those demons, Meghan O'Brien comes blazing into Alex's life, and brings the light that he truly needs. These two have a connection in their past, which is what brings them together in the first place, but ultimately pushes some serious buttons.

I have to say reading the relationship that begins to build between these two was just magical. I absolutely loved reading how it all started, and where they went together. That journey over the course of this book is not easy, not in the least bit, but it was totally enthralling to read. The chemistry and heat between these two flies off the page, and believe me, you'll be fanning yourself in no time when reading this book!! Suzanne Halliday does a fabulous job of developing the relationship between these two wonderfully dynamic characters, and you cant help but feel and love their connection.

I have loved all of the male characters in this series, but I'm beginning to think that Alex is my favorite. In the other books in the Justice Brothers series, Alex was the voice of reason, and I loved finally getting to read his story. His story was not an easy one, as it is filled with more pain and visceral emotion than the others. Reading all of this just made me feel for and connect with his character more. My heart just hurt for him throughout this book because you Suzanne Halliday does a fantastic job of showing all that he's going through. His character was dark and moody, and could be a total ass at times, but I freaking adored him.

Meghan's character was the perfect counterpart to Alex's brooding self. She is a no nonsense gal who is the epitome of light. That girl also has more sass than you can shake a stick at, and I loved that. She was a gem of a character, and I loved reading how her and Alex came together. I also seriously enjoyed reading how her character "pushes" Alex's character in this book. She pushes him, and she helps him. The moments that these two characters share are utterly powerful at times, so wrought with emotion at others, and just filled with so much emotion, feeling, and vulnerability. Their journey together is one that is rocky to say the least, but I promise that you will not be able to resist wanting to fight for these two. With every word you'll be hoping and praying they figure out a way to push away the dark and find the light.

Suzanne Halliday does a magnificent job of connecting the other Justice Brother characters that I've come to love and adore into this book. Cameron, Lacey, Draegyn, and Tori are all here, and they just make this book magical. They add more spark to it, and they will remind you once again why this is just a freaking fantastic series. They all just hit it out of the park together to make a book you won't soon forget.

Redeeming Justice is a book about a lot of things. It's about redemption for things in the past. It's about healing from past hurt. It's about finding the light, and it's about finding the love that makes all the pain worthwhile. This book was out of this world remarkable, and made for a truly great reading experience you won't want to miss. The characters are great, the story is magnificent and well paced, and in the end, you'll be so happy you had a chance to experience it!

As we watch Major Alex, Dad, to the Justice Brothers fall hard for a red headed Irish girl, Meghan. It was only a matter of time before he finally did. The rest of their group has already been bitten by the love bug and have children on the way. But Alex has major issues that may cause this love affair to end up with not 1 but 2 broken hearts.

Alex has always been the tough Major. He has lived with the regret of losing so many men and woman in his military career. He believes that he should not have happiness. He thinks that he should carry the loss of his fellow soldiers with him every day. He is not prepared for when Meghan, fiancée to David, one that he was unable to save, knocks on his door. She is like a breath of fresh air in a desert.

Meghan has always done what was right. Engaged to a man she has no intentions of marrying; carry a secret with her for years, and then when life changes for her, she knows she must go on this adventure to meet the one man that helped her when she was at her lowest. Major Marquez. She needs closure to the past that involves David. He died a hero and she needs to thank Major Marquez for that.

Once Meghan knocks on Alex’s door, all that they know will change. There is instant chemistry between the two of them. She should not feel that way toward him. It is wrong. He should not be thinking of all the ways he wants her in his bed, that is a dishonor to David.

As they fight the attraction and get to know each other, the attraction begins to win out over loyalty and honor. But there are secrets that need to be told so that they can move on with this. Once these are revealed, Alex and Meghan seem to not be able to stay away from each other. They are drawn together. The others at the house soon realize that Meghan is just what Alex needs to live.

But sometimes the past has a way of coming back to life. And this leaves them all with broken hearts, tears and miles away from each other. Will Alex realize that Meghan is his life? Can Meghan get over a broken heart and love again?

As this was my first book by Suzanne Halliday, I was very pleased with the writing and the story. It flowed well. The chemistry between Alex and Meghan was amazing. As was the relationship that Alex had with his Justice Brothers and their wives. The sex scenes were steamy. But the love that Alex and Meghan felt for each other was unmistakable. I was in tears toward the end of the book and felt like my heart was broken into a million pieces too. I will most definitely be reading the other books in this series.

Alex and Meghan

She wants him. He wants her, but doesn't want to want her. This story is full of self discovery, meddling friends & parents, but most of all love at first sight

5 +++ Stars!!!
5 +++ Flames for Hotness!!!

Every conflicted man needs a strong woman like Meghan O’Brien. Her character was dynamite. We have spent sometime with Alex Marquez in Book 1 and Book 2 of this series and loved him. But after reading his story you will fall deeper in love with this gorgeous man. Alex is a hot dominant male that likes control in EVERY situation. The sex in this book is hot. Meghan and Alex’s love story is fate at its best (in fairytale world).

Alex is so tormented but he and Meghan have some serious chemistry that takes them on sex-capade ride that will knock your socks off. Alex has so much baggage that I was not sure he would ever pull his head out. The angst in this book is at high level. I would have kicked his butt if I could have. Meghan doesn’t get too crazy in the angst department so it evened out. I felt the whole gamut of emotions in this book from despair straight to outright joy.

We get to see Cam, Lacey, Draegyn and Tori extensively throughout this story. I was so happy about this. I loved each and every character in this series. I am so happy there is going to be another installment to the series. I love the Justice Brothers!

Suzanne’s writing is flawless and will keep you flipping page after page so smoothly until the last word. I have read all three books (which can be read as stand alone’s if you choose). I would suggest reading all three so you are in the loop of what is happening in all the character’s lives. I would highly recommend all of these wonderful stories. You will not be disappointed in any of them.

My Favorite Quotes:

“You haven’t taken anything. I’m giving it to you. All of it. All of me. Whatever you need, I’m yours.” – Meghan

Kissing Alex was like exploring paradise. He tasted like the sun, his breath hot as the Arizona desert. – Meghan

“I want to take you hard and fast, over and over. There won’t be any hearts and flowers when I do, baby. That’s not who I am. I like it rough, wild and dirty as f***. Wanna make you do things that good girls shouldn’t even know about.” – Alex

“I swear to Christ honey, if you start crying, somebody is gonna die, and it won’t be pretty.” - Draegyn

From the very start I fell in love with the Justice Brothers in the first book with Cameron and Lucy, but I think Alex just stole my heart and RAN! This series seriously just gets better and better and you cant help but become addicted to these boys.

Each Prologue starts the same, but from each brothers perspective of what happened. In this third book we see Alex’s story. The guilt Alex carries surrounding the bombing that nearly killed him and took many of his fellow soldiers as well as civilians weighs heavily on him. In all the other books Alex was always the voice of reason, but his story is filled with so much pain and so much more emotion then the others. My heart seriously hurt for him.

Meet the girl…. Meghan. Meghan was Alex’s “pen pal” per se after the bombing. They wrote letters back and forth and kept in contact after the accident. She was engaged to one of the guys who passed away during the bombing and Alex was the one who wrote her about “The Kid”. She is a straight forward girl, who is comparable to a shining light. She pushes Alex’s limits but its only to help him through his grief. Who knew that during these letters back and forth that they would find a connection and start to fall for each other. But no relationship is ever all rainbows and unicorns is it?

Can Alex overcome the guilt and move on with his life? Or will he let go, but never forget and let Meghan in and start living life again. He makes a lot of mistakes along the way, more so then his brothers. But has he made one too many and pushed so far that Meghan wants nothing to do with him?

I love that you catch up with the rest of the Justice Brothers throughout this book. No one can forget Cam or Drae, these boys get into your heart and just stay put. Stubborn men! She does a great job with each character and I hope for more from Suzanne Halliday!

To say that this story has quickly become a favorite of mine, would be a gross understatement. Suzanne Halliday has the unique talent of creating characters that you not only identify with, but can understand. I cried, cheered and mentally "high-fived" the women for their sisterhood and tenacity.

Alex Valleja-Marquez is a complex character. He's a Don of a Spanish family, a senior partner of a security agency that he formed with his "brothers" and a former Special Forces Commander who struck up an unexpected friendship with Meghan O'Brian - the fiancé of one of his fallen soldiers.  He's haunted with his past and doesn't believe in a future for himself.

Their friendship began with a condolence letter Alex sent to Meghan as a C.O. The "friendship" continued through his own rehabilitation and eventually waned from letters to just Christmas cards.

Meghan is her own whirlwind. A former gym teacher/massage therapist who, along with a few other colleagues, wins the lottery. She quits her job and decides to take a cross-country trip to see more than just her hometown of Boston. When she winds up in Arizona, she decides to meet Alex face-to-face to thank him for his kindness during a hard time. Only Alex believes her to still be grieving for the life she lost when her fiancé died and is reluctant to give in to the immediate feelings he has for this Irish beauty. Whose wills are stronger? The "Ball Busting Boston Bitch" or the angst-ladened former commander who is still buried by the guilt of decisions that cost many soldiers their lives.

Will Meghan be enough to help heal the wounded soul of this former commander? Or will Alex let his demons ruin his chance at love and redemption?
