Amy Shannon (1972 - Present) is an American Storyteller, writer, poet, and blogger. Amy Shannon runs the book review website, which has become extremely popular for Indie authors and their books.

This read like an episode of SVU or Criminal Minds. Andrea is being stalked constantly... for years. Her frustration is depicted brilliantly from the start of the book. Text messages, flower deliveries and encounters with the stalker make Andrea feel trapped. Then she meets an attractive officer (in my mind I pictured Antonio Banderas lol) who sweeps her off her feet. To what lengths will the stalker go once he becomes aware of this new relationship?

I hate predictable stories, and I usually stop reading them. This fast paced story became increasingly interesting, and at times extremely graphic with violence. (Not a bad thing to me, but some readers may not appreciate violence.) To me it made the characters more real and sympathetic. The main character reminded me of Olivia Benson from Law & Order: SVU--- smart and tough. This woman was pushed to her limits and was not taking any crap! Kudos to her! I must say, one aspect really shocked me toward the end of the book. And some aspects were just plain CREEPY! I read this 352 page crime thriller in one sitting. Any crime thriller lover will enjoy this book.

If I were reviewing this story on plot alone, I would give it five stars. A raw but brilliant portrayal of a phenomenon that’s more common in our society than people realize, that of one individual stalking another. Obsession, fixation, fetishes and last but not least, psychosis are all here in black and white, graphically described with an unexpected twist that will leave some readers gasping. So, why three stars? As good as the plot of the story was, I found myself unable to emotionally connect with any of the characters. With everything that was going on, I wanted to feel terrified, enraged, sad and betrayed, but there just wasn’t enough emotional depth to the characterization for me to be able to do that. I don’t usually read works from this genre, so perhaps this style is common for stories of this type, but personally, I like to be able to connect with the characters, whether it’s a character that I learn to love or love to hate. I like to be able to picture them in my mind, see what they see, and feel what they feel, but for some reason that I can’t quite put my finger on, I was unable to do that with this story.

My review does contain spoilers. When I read the blurb I had to read this book. I do tend to read darker books. I did have a hard time with this book. Why? I just could not seem to care what happened to Andi, because I could not connect with her. The storyline was good. I was really wanting to see where Ms. Shannon would take this book. Stalking is one of those crimes the police can not do anything about until sadly it is too late.
One of my many problems with this book was when Andi was tortured and raped, she went willingly in the bed with another man within a couple weeks of the traumatic event. So much trauma that she had damage done to her cervix and had to undergo surgery. To me that just seemed a little too soon. She also had a rich, almost step father that shelled out money whenever there was a need.
Now for the good things I liked in this book. I liked how Andi's friends reacted during the whole ordeal. I liked that Andi did not allow herself to become a victim. She used everything she had to stay alive another day. The writing was good.
With all that being said I will more than likely get the next in the series. Maybe Andi will grow on me.
