Wedding Bubbles is a laugh-out-loud chick lit short story. All the best Maid of Honor speeches involve fun stories and heartfelt feelings about the bride, and Jessica Banks’ speech is no exception.
Shame she drank almost her body weight in champagne before standing up to give it, however…
But maybe Jessica will meet her Mr Right at this wedding? After all, being a bridesmaid almost guarantees you’ll meet men. Right?
What could possibly go wrong?
Wedding Bubbles is a stand-alone short story, introducing Jessica Banks.
It’s also a prequel to the novel Styling Wellwood: A fashionable romantic comedy.
Kate O'Keeffe is a USA TODAY bestselling and award-winning author who writes exactly what she loves to read: laugh-out-loud romantic comedies with swoon-worthy heroes and gorgeous feel-good happily ever afters. She lives and loves in beautiful Hawke's Bay, New Zealand with her family and two scruffy but loveable dogs.
When she's not penning her latest story, Kate can be found hiking up hills (slowly), traveling to different countries around the globe (back when we used to be able to do that), and eating chocolate. A lot of it.

Being an only child, 26-year-old Jessica must constantly deal with her mother’s disappointment that she’s not in a serious relationship yet. The story opens at her best friend’s wedding reception, though it was the last place Jessica wanted to be because it took place in her hometown. The very place that up until this point, she has done a great job of actively avoiding. To make matters worse, she’s had a bit too much to drink, oh and she hasn’t given her maid of honor speech yet. Let the laughter ensue.
Wedding Bubbles is a very short prequel to the full length novel, Styling Wellywood. It’s short and sweet and gives you a little taste of what the novel will entail. It made me laugh from page one and left me looking forward to reading the full novel to find out what happens next in Jessica’s drama filled life. I personally like to enjoy a drama-free life, but that doesn’t mean I don’t find it completely entertaining to read about other people’s drama!
‘Although I’d left here and vowed never to return, Laura’s one of my best friends and she made me promise on my Prada handbag that I’d be here for her wedding. Although the handbag was only a cheap knock- off from China, I was true to my word.’
Gold Star Rating! A fun and witty read that had me laughing out loud at numerous times. The short book left me wanting more and looking forward to reading the novel that comes next so that definitely earned it a gold star rating.
Author Kate O'Keefe hit a home run with her short story "Wedding Bubbles". Who doesn't love a wedding? In "Wedding Bubbles" Jess returns home from London to New Zealand to attend the wedding of her friend. As a bridesmaid she had responsibilities. However the combination of jet lag and alcohol consumption proved to be more than she could handle and her duties as bridesmaid were compromised a bit.
Jess was in charge of a wedding speech and she threw caution to the wind as well as her prepared speech and tried to wing it. What happened as a result was a speech that was incoherent in parts and offended many in attendance before she was hustled off the stage. Jess realized her mistake as she met those she had inadvertently offended and tried to make amends by laughing it all off as a joke.
I loved the wit and some of the phrases in this book made me giggle. I could visualize each character and even though the work was short it was packed full of fun and a great chick lit read. I look forward to what follows and commend Kate O"Keefe for pulling me into her series and leaving me wanting more.
This short story is so cute and funny. I enjoyed it thoroughly. It’s the prequel to Styling Wellywood and follows that story’s main character as she has a disastrous night as a bridesmaid at her friend’s wedding. I like that I read it after reading Styling Wellywood as I was already familiar with the characters and their backstory. This book is too short to waste time with too much backstory, but it’s not essential that you read Styling Wellywood first, I’m just glad I did.
This was about a woman who completely embarrassed herself at a friend's wedding by getting drunk and insulting guests. Nothing was even amusing, much less witty or charming. Skip this.
Am I the only one who felt cheated? This story is abnormally short. And that is really no way of introducing a character. The story was just awkward, too short and pointless.
I did feel a lot like reading the next book, but now I am having second thoughts. The story is so so short and ends very abruptly. I feel cheated.
Thank god I got this book for free. To pay for a story like this would be criminal. Atleast add some more elements and make it a story rather than just focusing it on Jess's speech. I mean, THAT'S ALL that is there in the book.
1. Jess delivers an awkward drunken speech 2. Jess has a blast from the past 3. Jess is chastised by her mother 4. Bride and Groom leave for honeymoon 5. Jess prepares to leave
THE END.
!!!!!!!!!!
I mean what?!!! I am serious. That is all that happens there. Pointless isn't it? About half the book is just advertising for the next book. I didn't see what the romance was in this book and neither could I see the comedy in it. It was simply not funny.
I picked this book up because today was my relaxation day and now I'm totally annoyed at reading a book that cheated me. Need to look for something better to read now.
Please don't read this book. It is clearly not worth your money or time.
I picked this up because it was set in my city, written by a local author, and recommended by the NZ romance writers' association. Despite a few editing things - it's my job not to like a capital B for Bridesmaid throughout - and the mangling of the name of an Air Supply song title, this was quite amusing and I'm interested enough to carry on with the next book.
Wedding Bubbles is a short story about Jess who has flown from London to New Zealand to attend her friend's wedding. It shows what can happen when jet lag and alcohol mix. It had me cringing in parts as she tries to escape her actions. A good story especially since it didn't happen to me!
