Summer Flings #6

Flirting in Florence

Rate this book
Part 6 of Summer Flings – a fun, flirty and laugh out loud rom com series of short stories.

Instead of hitting the designer shops with her friends, Ciara’s all about proving Florence can be enjoyed on a budget – and she isn’t talking about the sexy Italians Elle and Gem pick up for the duration!

One-on-one with Zack is getting too intense so she plans a grape-squishing trip to a vineyard hoping to leave her problems back in the city. Of course her doomed affair is the least of her worries when her friendship with his cousin is on the line.

The ideal summer treat for those relaxing days soaking up the sun!

Flirting in Florence is actually more of a 3.5 read for me, but unfortunately not enough for me to round it up to 4.

It's the sixth installment in the #Summer Flings series and as we're approaching the end of the series things are certainly starting to get more dramatic. Unlike the previous parts, this one has a more serious note and I actually like it. It can be all roses in life, so it was really refreshing to see that these characters go through a rough time, not just partying. The issues Ciara has with her mother are a great touch, however they're repeated many times and reading about them in this installment too felt a bit overwhelming. However, it helps us complete the image of Ciara, which is a completely different one to that we've seen at the beginning in this series.

There's some trouble in paradise too, and some things between Zack and Cia happen, but they'd be considered as spoiler so I'm not gonna include them in my review.

It's enjoyable read, just like the previous ones, but definitely more serious and I can say I really like how Ms Duffy's style changed throughout the series, becoming more unique and mature. The best is yet to come though, according to me, in the last installment which is my favorite part of this series. Bring on Dublin!

Flirting in Florence is the sixth in the Summer Flings series and things are becoming more serious and dramatic.

I felt the characters were becoming more rounded thanks to the story line and the reader is able to connect to the group more, as things aren't 100% plain sailing. - just like they wouldn't be in real life.

I enjoyed this instalment of the series, I have visited Florence and I was able to identify places the girls were. I really liked how Duffy included a lot of places in Florence. This I felt allowed me to 'visit' the place with the girls. This was a welcome addition.I felt through this part of the story I really saw how different Ciara is from the others.

I liked how in Flirting in Florence, some of the secrets to the mystery we read about in Ibiza are revealed.

I am all geared up now for the final instalment - Deliver us to Dublin!

I would like to thank Aimee for sending me this copy in exchange for an honest review.

I’ve been looking forward to Flirting in Florence the most out of all the Summer Flings novellas so far. Right from the start back in Tinseltown and Miami, there were plenty of hints as to some of the twists to come and with this being the penultimate novel, Florence was where all the drama had to unfold. Aimee Duffy has, yet again, written another great novella with the best set up for the final book. Not forgetting to mention the gorgeous cover which is my favourite out of the series.

As it had to be, Flirting in Florence is Ciara and Zack’s story, as they’re forced to confront the fact that their summer fling is a little more full-on than they had intended. Everything explored throughout the previous books has been touched on again here – like the reason why Ciara is so reluctant for a relationship with anyone and the reason why Elle has been so frustrated with her cousin. The plot had been developed really well up to this point and it carried on in the same manner here – except with a few more twists added in to really spice things up.

The ending I absolutely loved and I feel like Flirting to Florence definitely succeeded at providing the best set-up for the last book in the series, Deliver Us to Dublin With Care. I loved the way Aimee built up to the end of this novella – her style of writing feels really natural and more like a typical progression of Zack and Ciara’s story rather than exaggerated twists being forced on us. It’s hard to mention too much of the plot at this stage without giving anything away but I know the way I want things to work out in Dublin though whether it will go that way is still up in the air... Aimee has brought me some of my favourite books this summer and I definitely won’t be glad to see the back of these characters. Flirting in Florence is my easiest five star rating of the series.

Hooray, the sixth installment of the summer flings series is here, and an opportunity to check in with Ciara, Gem and Elle and see what they are up to as they arrive in Italy. Infact I was so eager I downloaded it at midnight, snuggled under my duvet, and had finished by 1am.

I love Italy, and Florence is a beautiful city. I was delighted to see that Ciara has decided to show the others how to sightsee and survive in a city without breaking the bank. As a result we saw a bit more of Florence than in earlier parts of the series which I really liked.

The main storyline is around Ciara and Zack, and theirgrowing realisation that this is developing into more than a mere summer fling. D'oh, we readers have seen this for ages!! It is far more romantic than the others, and not just about them ripping eachothers clothes off at every second, although that is of course still there.....However, we do learn a deeper side to both of them, about their past and their ambitions.

There is of course still fun and laughter and Elle and Gem are still in pursuit of some flirting and fun. I have grown to like these two more with each trip, and I like seeing how at first you get the impression that Elle doesnt care about her cousin, yet, as you delve deeper she does have his back.

Flirting in Florence has really set the reader up for the final installment, Deliver us to Dublin....will they be delivered intact or will some spanners be thrown in the works? I cant possibly reveal how Florence ends, you will have to read it for yourselves.

Im very excited about seeing what happens, but also sad as it will be the end of the summer flings series, and not only will I miss the girls, but September will be almost upon us...at least we have had a great summer of fun, and this series has been brilliant.

Okay, so I knew this was coming at some point in the series but that didn't mean I liked reading it--well I enjoyed reading more about these characters, I just don't like the way nothing's going as I want it to!

This instalment had me wanting to scream at Ciara the whole way through and in a way I'm glad Elle did. You finally see a different side to Elle in Florence and it was a believable and nice change that tied in well with how the secrets were revealed.

It was inevitable that Ciara would use her past as an excuse to push Zack away and my heart broke for him. There was more emotion in this instalment and I dislike the author for leaving it on such a cliffhanger! It's just mean and makes me want to start the next one even though it's 1am. :-)

All I can hope is I get the ending I'm looking for in the final book, which I'm both sad and excited to start. This is also my favourite cover of the series--just beautiful!

One of my favourites in the whole series!
This time we are in Florence where we finally see Ciara take firm control and push her friends out of their pampered comfort zones as they have fun budget style.
Fun aside we see the conflict progress and Ciara's insecurities are revealed further and relationships between them all are tested.
Okay, I admit for this one I had to put the virtual sun cream and cocktail aside to pick up a tissue. Ms Duffy ramps up the emotion and sets the scene perfectly for the next instalment.

Things are falling apart in Florence. Ciara has tried to teach Zack that he can live life on a budget, that he can follow his own dream without the financial backing of his family.

But things have fallen apart and Ciara has gotten scared of the future. It is all going a bit cattywampus.

In the sixth instalment of the Summer Flings series we see the friendship base between Gem, Ciara and Elle fall apart along with Ciaira and Zack’s relationship. Florence sounds lovely but this leg of the holiday does not.

Let’s hope it all gets resolved in the seventh and final part of the Summer Flings series because Flirting in Florence left me with a stomach ache from worrying.

It's a perfect book!!! It's more flirty and professional. I'm thinking... I must give as a gift to my girl cousin. Miami one for me, Florance one is for my cousin!!!

I really didn't know how to score this one. The heroine having her TSTL moment made me want to give it a three but the angst upped it to a four. I really wanted to slap her around. If she were my daughter...well my daughter wouldn't have the same mummy issues so it's a moot point.

As I suspected in Ibiza, we are well into the pointy end and all those little hints and niggles are coming to the fore. Sure we get some partying, some Italian wineries and so on...but it's not all tea and biccies...or in this case wine and nibblies.

We are all set up for the final chapter which takes place in Ciara's home town of Dublin.

Spent my lunchtime in Florence with the penultimate instalment of the Summer Flings series! And things are starting to get serious! The drama was inevitable, but handled very well, and the characters' thoughts and actions believable (trying not to spoil anything!).

I loved that the tables have turned and that Ciara is now showing the others how to travel enjoyably on a budget (for all I loved reading about the extravagance before!).

My heart is hurting for all the characters - I've got to read the last part right away!
