There are now more than 10 million people with an Adobe Creative Cloud subscription. Ten million people with the tools to create page layouts, and a high percentage of them are going to get it very very wrong. When I started many years ago in the days of paste up — we used scalpels and glue and Bill Gates was still wearing short trousers — I came across a book that taught me the importance of white space and the proper use of fonts etc., Pixel Perfect Precision brings that information to the digital age and should be essential reading for budding graphic designers. That would save us from all those cringe worthy moments when we come across yet another graphic horror.
Pixel Perfect Precision is an awesome book and a must read for every upcoming UX/UI designer. Though I haven't yet done everything that is listed in the book, I believe anyone who does would love designing so much more, due to the ease. The book is comprehensive and just as any art/design book should be, it has images to show what not to do and what to do, which makes the book 10 times more appealing than plain text.
I think this serves as a great beginners guide and I wish it was something I knew about it a year or two ago. It also serves as a great example for how style guides could be written.
Overall it's a great book about design and I found many useful things to implement. But it has a few repeated sections that made me question "Why would you repeat those?". Also it's very short but informative! You have an example and a swift explanation right below so it looks neat. Plus there are a lot of tips on how to ease your Photoshop workflow and a little on Illustrator too.
A useful book if you are a visual designer or UI/UX designer since it's consist of practical tips and hints, especially if you're working a lot using Adobe. A light and short kind of book, with pretty illustration almost on each pages to help readers digest the information. If you're looking on more profound or philosophycal explanation, this one is not for you.
Generally a must read if you are pursuing a career as a visual designer. It's a quick read so, even if you're busy, there's no excuse not to read this one.
