allyn lesley writes real stories about real people.

As a teen, allyn lost herself in the pages of some of Romance’s heavyweights, trusting that a happy ever after was just around the corner. In allyn’s own writing journey, as in life, she’s learned that people don’t always experience recovery and restoration after a fall. Her stories speak to the gritty side of life where the right choice isn't always easily identified and happiness not quickly gained.

To sum up this book in one word: interesting! Definitely very interesting, at least to me. The plot has many things going on at the same time and there is a fair share of action going on but all that also doesn't overshadow the romance aspect of the story, so I liked that very much. For me, the best past was the deceit and how the power play took it's course. There were so many intriguing parts to this story, so there wasn't one boring moment! I loved the plot twists, some I did see coming and some I didn't but that's how a book should be done. If you guess everything, where then the fun, right?
Also, the characters were all so very different but all so new and refreshing and just a joy to read about. Noah was my favourite and I don't know what is it about him. He can be dominant, sexy, playful, woundable but also very cold and cruel. For me the was just in between good and bad and I guess that's what attracted me to his personality. As for Avi, I'm still not sure how I feel about her. She's smart, loyal and careful but sometimes I felt like she didn't know how to simply let go of herself and live a little. But since thins book is so intense, there weren't really that many scenes where she could be all that. Also, I don't know what happened to Sofie at the end of the story. I felt like she just vanished from the book. I think someone forgot to include her more into the story...

Anyway, to keep things short, I'd recommend this book to any action/romance lover. This book did not disappoint!

DEEPER is Lesley's debut novel and has a great premise. Avi and Noah are both strong willed people with very complicated lives. Avi has a past that she is trying to bury while carving out a new life for herself in New York. Noah has already made a name for himself while aquiring wealth and cultivating a tough as nails reputation. Noah has a large amount of outward confidence and self–assuredness that he often takes to extremes. Noah's business is in no way transparent and that is exactly they way he wants and needs it to be. Both Noah and Avi have complicated pasts that intertwine in a very interesting and ultimately troublesome way.

Avi and Noah's relationship is complicated and often confrontational. Noah isn't the easiest of heroes to empathize with. He is often harsh, self serving, and very abrupt with people and that includes Avi. Noah isn't apologetic in anyway for his behavior and attitude and expects other people to adjust and deal with his mannerisms or get out of his way. Noah quickly realizes that if he wants a chance at being with Avi he will have to rethink his approach with her. I initially liked that Avi didn't back down to Noah immediately, however there are moments when Avi becomes a more frustrating character.

The sparring dialogue between Avi and Noah was entertaining and funny at times. Noah is sarcastic and snarky and Avi doesn't hesitate to call him on it as well as dishing it right back at him. One of my favorite conversations between them was so simple but it sums up Noah's problem perfectly. He says to Avi "I'm going to try this asking business you keep harping about" yet he goes on to issue an order instead of a request. Yet in his defense he does add a "please" afterwards. Noah just can't seem to bring himself to be accommodating and considerate although as the story progresses he does give it a try.

DEEPER is a well paced story but there were a few continuity issues for me. There were a few times where timelines and scenes ended or changed abruptly and it took me out of the flow of the story. I had to back up while reading a few times to make sure that I had the transition correct when there was a sudden change. There is quite a bit going on in this one so smoother transitions would have helped me stay engaged a bit easier. There is also a cliffhanger at the end of this one. It wasn't as bad of a drop as I thought but the story is definitely not complete at the ending. According to the blurb there will only be two parts to Avi and Noah's story so all should be wrapped up in book 2.

I have gotten to know this new author from some of the same book clubs we are in together. I knew this was going to be her debut novel and I was going to happily support her.

Noah Adams aka King of New York but before then he was a 17 year old runaway from Buffalo, New York, who hitched a ride all the way to NYC. Once there he did what he had to do to survive and one day while selling drugs in broad daylight in the park Officer Manning happened to be walking through, so instead of arresting Noah, Harry talked with him and took him in. Although Harry wasn't Noah's biological father, he was the only father Noah had ever known. Harry was determined for Noah to make something out of his life, so he made sure Noah took the GED and he passed, so Noah told him he signed up to go into the Army Harry was ecstatic.

Forward over 10 years later, Noah has fully cemented himself as the King of New York and with his partners, they are not a force anyone would want to reckon with. Harry still believed Noah could be on the straight and narrow but the death of a 13 year old girl puts a strain on their relationship resulting in them not speaking for 2 years. Well Noah would call him but Harry would remain silent on the other end of the phone.

At an outing one night school teacher Avianna Linton hangs out with her friend from work Sophie. Avi is a square while Sophie is a wild social butterfly. By reading about the two at first you think that Avi is this wonderful school teacher with a quiet life but as the story progresses she is a woman with a torturous past, present and future. Enter Noah at the party, a man accustomed to getting his way and doesn't know the word "No". He wants Avi and he means to have her.

Noah is a complicated and hard man, Avi is a tortured individual, Harry is the one piece that will bring it all together but before any of that could happen, a killer invades the inner sanctum and takes out a close person of Noah's circle. Revenge and murder is on his mind now, love unsuspecting comes face to face for Noah and Avi, and someone who wants to eliminate the circle has made their presence known.

To talk further about this story will reveal spoilers which I will not do LOL!!! But it is so very tempting *snickering*.

A great first debut from this new author. I was glued to my Kindle, I enjoyed every character's story, it flowed well, there was an explanation for everything that happened in "Deeper". The book does not end on a cliffhanger but there will be a Book 2 called "Deeper Still". There is no release date as of yet but I know I am looking forward to the story when it drops.

Well Until My Next Review Ciao Bellas!

I was gifted an ARC copy of Deeper wayyyy back in January. I don't read too many books within the realm of romantic suspense. However, I promised Allyn I would read her debut and give it a fair shot. I'm proud to say I was delightfully surprised! We're introduced to fresh-faced Avianna Linton, a school teacher. Through a mutual friend, Sofie, Avianna crosses paths with the notorious Noah Adams, dubbed the King of New York.

Unbeknownst to Avianna and Noah, they have far more in common than they could have ever imagined. Secrets start to unravel, and Noah isn't the man Avianna thought him to be. I'm intentionally vague since I don't wish to give too much of the plot away.

Noah, Noah, Noah. He's the perfect mixture of hero and villain. You're not sure if you want to love him or hate him. He demands and commands respect. I enjoyed his character a great deal, Avianna on the other hand left a lot to be desired. I loved her initially but by the middle of the story, I wanted to shake her! LOL. That is a sign of a great writer.

If a writer can cause you to have warring emotions towards a hero or heroine, then I consider it a job well done. Allyn, you've done well for your debut novel. You know how I am when it comes to cliffhangers, they drive me nuts but knowing there's more to come in Avianna and Noah's tale, I eagerly await the next portion. Many questions have yet to be answered, but I'm excited to see how the ending of the story plays out. Congratulations, you should be very proud!

You know the movie Valentines Day, with Ashton Kutcher, Jennifer Garner & Julia Roberts...where you follow each of their stories throughout the movie and at the end how they all somehow are tied together?? That's how I felt while reading this book....many different stories going on, never really getting the full picture....till the end.

What a different story...not at all what I expected, with some heavy topics (many I had to google lol), but done in a really unique and great way. People, places, scenarios were all described in such a way you felt like you were there.

I have been extremely excited to read this story since I started my blog in October and I'm grateful to have gotten an early copy. Allyn Lesley is definitely an author to keep your eye out for....she delivers a powerful & unique story you won't be able to put down! 4.5 ⭐️'s for Deeper!

The cover of this book originally intrigued me enough to 1-click it on Amazon. Coupled with the story-line I felt pretty encouraged that I was in for some good reading time. Unfortunately, upon finishing the book I feel a little underwhelmed and "blah" about the story. Allyn  Lesley is a new author and Deeper is her Freshman outing.

What It's About
Deeper is about a school teacher by the name of Avianna "Avi" Linton. Avi is a woman who's trying for a fresh start by creating a quiet life for herself in New York. She has a past that she's not proud of and a mother that she avoids. Noah is a tough, wealthy, and not-so-good man who is considered by some to be the "King of New York" (not sure if this is a name he's given himself or if it was given to him). When the two meet there is a sudden (no big surprise), and undeniable attraction between them. Avi's reaction is to rebel against the feeling and to spurn his advances. Although they eventually end up together, there's a lot that's amiss. The two share more in common than they realize and Noah's "business" soon becomes a dangerous threat to what could be a promising relationship.

My Thoughts
I get the story that the author was trying to tell here, and for the most part she accomplished what she tried to do. For me however, it didn't quite work. Avi and Noah just never turned into characters that I cared anything about. Their first meeting was confusing. Yes, the two were attracted to each other, but it felt like there wasn't a reason for them to be. I know there are a gazillion stories where characters fall in love, or are overcome by great lust, or have an inexplicable pull toward one another. But with Deeper, I just didn't get the feeling. I didn't understand why Avi had such a negative reaction when she barely spent time with the man. Nor did I truly understand why, after such a brief time spent in each other's company, he burrows his way into her every waking thought and every nightly dream. I could understand Noah's desire for Avi somewhat. He strikes me as a man who wants the thing that is difficult to get. And Avi was difficult. But once he had her it just seemed like too much want and no real reason or, from my standpoint anyway, chemistry between them.

Noah's character wanted to be tough and was written to be a tough, cold, alpha who was also somewhat of a grey area villain. But there lies the problem. He was just written that way. His character didn't make me believe despite everything that the author wrote about him and his actions. It's hard to explain, but when I read a character that's supposed to be a bad-a$$, I need to believe that he is bad-a$$! I wasn't sold, despite all of the telling and the selling of his character, that he wasn't just a two-bit thug with fine things.

There was a twist in the story that revealed a common thread between Avi and Noah, and I wish that I could say that it was a good turning point for the story. I was hopeful that it would be, at least. Unfortunately, this just felt too convenient and an obvious plot device. By the end, I was just disappointed.

My Final Thoughts
Deeper wasn't the worst book that I've read this year, but it was far from the best. The bones of a good book were there, but the muscle and flesh on those bones were not as healthy and developed as they needed to be. Because this is a new author and I could see the potential for growth, I'll probably check out the next book if the price is right. I'm giving Deeper 2 stars

With Deeper in action, we find that Noah has clawed, fought, dug, grinded, his way to the top of the heap. All this with secrecy surrounding him and what he has built. He was the final authority in his world. That was until one dare to question him, his actions, his beliefs, his all. Avianna has been misled, lost, confused, deceived, and no more for her. She has taken charge of her life, to a point. Now, she dares question the one man that can rub her raw with the frictions their mutual disdain creates.

The snarky banter. The flippy comebacks. The take charge. The tit-for-tat. Avi and Noah has sparks flying whether it was for control or retort. Sexual attraction was filling the air and causing its own destructive wave. Avi was strong willed and defiant. She presented much frustration. She was a challenging character to read and for Noah to get a bead on. He struggled with how to deal with her and the sparks between them.

The power struggles. The deceit. The disdain. The action. The pacing. The inter-play. There was so much here that a few times stopping everything and going back a few pages was required. There was much her to absorb and still stay on top of it all. There were plot twist. And then there were just plain twist. There were things that will have you on the edge of your seat.

I will be starting book two soon. This has to have a resolution that will cut through some of the many questions.

*Reviewed together with book 2 Deeper: Descent

I read these two together so I am writing my review for them together. Allyn is a newer author and defiantly a new to me author. I do think she is a good writer and I see lots of potential. There was a few things for this story that I had trouble with though. I did think this was a good story over all. The pace of it was good but in a few scenes it would just abruptly stop and switch. That kinda messed up the flow for me. The characters of Noah and Ali were likable but for me I had trouble picturing them actually together. I was told they had great chemistry and an instant connection. I just didn't see it. Noah is a dick. I usually like these kinda guys in books. Well, there my favorite actually. With him though I was once again told this but never felt he was or I wasn't shown it either. Lots of telling in the book but not showing it to the reader. Avi was ok, she did get frustrating at times, that might just be for me though. I did like that we had several story lines going on and they kinda tied up at the end. That makes for good substance in a book. I usually call this "meatier books". I think this is a lot of little things that can easily be worked on by a good writer. Allyn is a good writer and with time I feel she will be a great one. These are good books over all and if you think they sound like your kinda thing go ahead and pick them up.

I was pulled right into this story. The story has laughs, pain, anger, secrets, and heartbreak.

This is Avianna and Noah’s story. Avianna is an elementary school teacher. She meets Noah out one night. The attraction between these two is off the charts but she tries to push him away. Her past is something she does not want to share and she wants no compilations in her life right now. Noah wants Avianna and he is used to getting everything he wants. Can he get Avianna to let him in? Can he learn all her secrets? Will he still want her if he knows them? Add a few twists & turns and some danger to the mix and you get a great story. It ends on a bit of a cliffy but not to worry the second book is out already.

I loved these characters and also the side characters. I felt I was able to connect with the characters and the story was a great read.

I recommend this book.

My heart raced, my gut wrenched, my chest tightened, and my lungs and ribs felt constricted with the emotions plaguing the characters in author Allyn Lesley’s debut novel, Deeper. Among the many emotions felt along with the characters it invoked many more emotions within; I grieved, was hot with lusty passion, red with anger, and on the edge of my seat the entire time. Noah Adams is a self made success, rising from the streets to claim New York as his kingdom. A man of mystery, power and intrigue. He commands respect with an air of authority. Always in control, always on top. - get your mind out of the gutter. Avianna Linton, a school teacher, she is both strong willed and stubborn, with her eye on keeping her dismal past hidden and herself guarded from anything that may jeopardize just that. Until, her friend and co-worker, Sophia, talks her into a girl’s night out…. This well written romantic suspense reminded me a little of Breaking Bad, for reasons I will let you discover on your own. Overall my thoughts on Deeper are that it was an incredible read. The characters and their turmoils are well developed, believable and I wouldn’t be surprised if they were modeled after real people. Allyn’s voice is clearly honed and unwavering, The editor did a terrific job, I only found 1 error that really stuck out to me. The plot was smooth and kept my attention the entire time I was reading. The few sex scenes were HOT HOT HOT but did not draw attention from the story. If this is truly her debut, I am still questioning this one… You bet your sweet behind that I will be sticking around to read more!

DEEPER - ALLYN LESLEY

CAUGHT UP!

That is the exact place I am in at this particular place and time. Caught up within the confines of a story which, in so short a time, has me suspended within the confines of reader's Heaven. That is the place reserved for a reader who is experiencing ecstasy when reading just a few paragraphs of a book that has you trembling with a need to get deeper into a book. It is a place where we rarely get to visit, because of the slim picking of authors that can carry you there. My suspended animation is over. I have ascended to reader's Heaven via the penning of the book titled "Deeper", and the author who has ejected my body there is Allyn Lesley. I am caught up and loving it! So caught up that I read Chapters 1 - 3 twice. I was so fascinated by the quality of this writing that found myself wanting - no needing - to experience it over and over again. Be warned; this author's writing will have you addicted to her extremely extraordinary talent from the very first sentence of her pen. An addiction which you will gladly welcome! This particular addiction will not be injected into your physical temple. Oh no! This addiction is just for the caverns of your mind.

Your mind will be subjected to a variety of moments which will trigger your need to explore over and over again, the deeply satisfying words soaked onto the pages of this book. You will become immersed with the beauty of this author's prose; prose that give your mind relief from the mediocrity of past reads. You will feel as if you have been reborn; a rebirth joyful in its newness. Contrastly, these feelings of eruptive joy are borne out of brokenness. Brokenness of the human spirit which has seen too much degradation to ever hope that anything better is on the horizon. A brokenness that propels any humanity that you might have had to seek out something, anything, which will give you the illusion of being in a better and more joyful place. False illusions. But Ms. Allyn is not a false bearer of these illusions. She is the one to give that brokenness relief. If you would just download this wonderful read, you will set out on a journey that will lead you down the path Ms. Lesley has prepared for you to witness how she intends to repair that which was broken, in order to give new life.

All who chose to read my review, I adjure you to read the other reviewers' reviews, if you wish to find out the storyline. The reading of this book did not lead me to downplay this stupendous writing ability only to regurgitate what she has already so eloquently done. No, I am led to open your readers' minds to reflect on the astoundingly creative talent located within the temple named Allyn Lesley. If you would seek her out, you certainly will be rewarded with a gem which gives off a blinding, but illuminating, light of brilliance which will propel you to seek out others like her. This author's writing has affected me in ways that I cannot fully comprehend or accurately articulate. That type of accurate depiction is beyond my vocabulary or ability to set forth in a language to be universally understood, for I am only human. No, my fellow readers, it will take a much more learned entity to give this author her just rewards. Rewards of which there will surely be many.

Writing like this is not just written to bring enjoyment, but is written to dig down into the bowels of your emotions to pull the very essence of your being into the forefront. Brought to the forefront to give both credence and illumination to your quest to regain sure footedness in your needy quest to seek out unique prose like skills such as what you have just read. This book will leave you tingling for more and more of the same. Your quest will have you digging into every future read to recapture the feeling of completeness this author's creative writing will leave upon the palette of your very soul. Her written words will leave footprints, non erasable footprints on your readers' psyche; prodding you to find and retain the feelings her writing evokes within you. I have written many reviews, but only a handful of them have given me such justification to let others know about a talent like the one possessed by Allyn Lesley. She is the truth, and if you desire a walk into her truth then please support her future literary efforts to help her produce and in turn give us another once in a lifetime read, as she has done in "D E E P E R"!!!!

I found myself trying to prolong this read by reading chapters over and over again. This writing is just so good that you want to remain a part of it for as long as you possibly can. Alas, all good things must eventually come to an end! Fortunately, though, I will read enough to sustain my literary appetite, hopefully for quite awhile.

I noted somewhere earlier in this review that I have only been led to write such an emotional review as this by a handful of authors. Those authors are Love Belvin, Tiana Laveen, Takera Allen and Naomi Chase, and now I can add the name of Allyn Lesley to this, my personal esteemed list, of my very very very favorite authors. Last but not least, is my newly found abhorrence of writers that continually write series, when just 1 book would do. Well, when I downloaded this book, I was totally unaware that there is another book to follow. I can say without a doubt that this is a series that I will be holding my breath to see again. Miracles never cease.

Great debut novel from Allyn Lesley. The story starts with beautiful detail painting a perfect scene in your mind. Told in 3rd person pov, this story jumps between characters weaving subplots into the main plot. There is a lot going on making you wonder how it will all tie together in the end. Some sub plots are drawn too far out for me and at times made me feel as though I missed pertinent information in the story. Others were drawn out just enough that they came together flawlessly.

One thing I really enjoyed about this story is that although the author paints a pretty vivid picture, she leaves enough open for your own imagination to step in and fill in the blanks. Her characters are developed extremely well personality wise, but visually she gives you just a few details so you can pick who you want them to be. This made it a little difficult for me at first since this was labeled an interracial romance. With very little detail given about the characters looks in the beginning I was confused when painting the picture in my mind on the ethnic backgrounds. Needless to say, it took me half the book to pin down who they were in my mind and it became a distraction making me stop and think about it too much. I'm big on visuals while reading so if it takes longer to make one I get lost in my head shuffling around details rather than reading. Don't judge lol.

I really enjoyed this story. Every bit of it was complex. Maybe just a tad too complex for a debut novel, but she pulled it off in the end and surprised me as she tied it all together. With everything twisting and turning and info being withheld for so long through the story I thought for sure it would be a hot mess to finish up, but it wasn't.

Character interaction was amazing. Every single one of them pop off the page and command your attention. Noah, the strong silent type who gets what he wants with one look and the snap of his fingers. Avi, the mystery girl new to New York who is strong enough to hold her own, but not so head strong that she makes you annoyed by her. Loved her character. She's your average woman wanting to stand on her own, be strong enough to deal with life and overcome past issues, not jaded but doesn't lie to herself and allows herself to feel her emotions and not deny them. She may tell herself I don't want this, but she's not stupid enough to keep telling herself that when she knows it's not true.

Noah has been up on his throne a bit too long. Staying up there and making himself untouchable has only made his heart cold. He knows exactly where he came from, he reminds himself daily. He refuses to ever go back there and clutches to his friends who have battled with him to rise above and make a better life for themselves. Better life is in the eye of the beholder though.
He meets Avi through Sophie, someone he is charged to protect. He is instantly attracted to her and her snubbing his advances only causes him to want her more. But he knows what he wants and goes for it even though she shoots him down constantly. They both know the attraction is strong and she is just fighting it.

Sophie is an enigmatic character. Loved the scenes with her and hope she gets her own story. Her character deserves one and I hope she ends up with another character you will be drawn to when you read the book ;)

Harry. Loved, loved, loved him. Definitely one of the good guys you root for through the story. Trustworthy, loyal, tough loving man with all American roots and ideals.

Ido, the evil bastard. Honestly, I don't think he's that evil. He's just as comparative to Noah. Two strong individuals. One king of New York, another the man who wants to become king and rule all. I actually want to learn more about Ido. I felt like we were teased with just enough info about him to suck us in then we were left stranded to find our way back. Such a mysterious character. Very much like Noah. Most people will say they don't like the antagonist, but I'm a lover of them. I need more of Ido.

It does end in a bit of a cliffhanger, but you expect that in duet, trilogy, or series. It's not a huge cliffy, thanks to the last scene in the book. I look forward to learning where Avi and Noah are headed in the next book and how the battle for New York will end. Did I mention I need more Ido?

✯✯4 Deep Stars!!✯✯

Where do I begin with Deeper ? This is Allyn Lesley debut book. It is such a great debut book too. It's got romance, suspense and mystery all in one. It's in 3rd person POV which most times I'm not a major fan of. But, in this particular story it worked. Between all the major characters and their stories and everyone connecting one way or another. It worked perfectly.

Avianna Linton AKA Avi is new to New York. She left Florida and has started teaching. Avi has not had the best past and she's trying to move forward in her life. She has given up the partying, the drinking and sex. Avi has done an excellent job to not mess up. Until she becomes friends with another new teacher at her school Sophie. Sophie. That girl either doesn't know the word NO or what it actually means. Whenever she wanted to do something it didn't matter if Avi said NO because she'd drag her there. It was because of Sophie that Avi meets Noah Adams.

Noah Adams is the King of New York. Everybody that's everybody knows of Noah Adams. He is a business man who's become something from nothing. Except it's not all legit. Noah has a lot of illegal stuff in his back pocket. It's who he is. At least what he believes. Harry the closest thing to a father Noah has believes otherwise. Noah hasn't heard from Harry in 2yrs. Harry's a cop and him and Noah don't see eye to eye on some of Noah's business activities. That doesn't stop Noah from doing his thing and from calling Harry even if Harry doesn't speak to him he'll talk to the silent line.

The minute Noah's eyes land of Avi he must have her. Avi wants nothing to do with the cocky, wealthy, demanding Noah. Avi is not afraid to tell Noah where to go. These 2 push each others buttons from the first 2 minutes that they meet. They'd go back & forth constantly. Between pissing each other off to getting themselves turned on. It was almost like a game. Until they finally gave in to temptation.

But, nothing is rainbows and butterflies. See Noah, Avi and Harry are all connected in a way none of them were ready or prepared for. Once Harry calls Noah for help on a case a can or worms are opened. And, not all of them come out the same way they entered. Noah will protect Avi with his life. He doesn't care if she wants his help or not. Avi doesn't trust easily. She wants to trust Noah. But, she's not sure how too.

This was a fast paced book for me. Once I started reading it I couldn't put it down. I just had to know how the pieces of this twisted puzzle were going to fit and what was it going to look like at the end. Both Noah and Avi had hard lives. Nothing was easy for them. Avi had been lied too multiple times. My heart hurt for both of them. ESP Avi I def cried for her. She was so much stronger then she knew or realized. She was also hard on herself. Noah was never use to saying NO to anybody or anything. Ever!! I had loved seeing him change slowly for Avi. Noah had dealt with so much loss that I broke down for him. These 2 are perfect together. I am really looking forward to the next part of their story. I hope Sophie gets her story tole as well

Broken by a past he can't escape...

Avi has a checkered past she doesn’t trust many with her secrets let alone her heart. Through her best friend well only friend Anna she crosses paths with the King of New York Noah Adams. Not used to running in the same circles Avi dismisses him. I mean really who is he except a gorgeous Adonis who oozes confidences and makes her heart flutter? But Avi is much more than meets the eye she has secrets of her own and has issues with abandonment. Noah is more than confident he can break down those walls Avi has put up brick by brick if that’s what it would take to have her.

Noah doesn’t like the word no. He doesn’t take it from his enemies and he won’t put up with it from his woman. Noah is an alpha male in the true sense of the word the only thing is like many dominant characters he has some darkness that rules his life. He is in urban terms a street pharmacist/drug dealer. It’s the only life he knows and because of this life it has made him the ruthless man he is today. Seemingly from two different worlds Avi and Noah have more in common than meets the eye. I will say that I love the fact that Avi made him work for her affection. Although at times she was a little annoying with the cat and mouse game. I just wanted to tell her, “go to him, let him help you.” This book has some very “deep” elements to it. It’s more than just a romance it’s a mystery. You see there is some drug hitting the street a lethal drug, enemies are working behind the scenes and little Avi is right in the enemies sights. Will Noah and Avi new found love conquer their enemies of will Avi run like she has been known to do?

What I loved about this story is that the characters were multidementional and as readers we get to see the characters grow within their relationship. Each character has a connection and when you find out what it is whoa!!! Stay tuned for book 2. If you are looking for a mystery, mixed with some good old fashioned romance this is the book for you. Please judge this book for yourselves and not based on this one review.

Loved this debut book written by Allyn Lesley. This story flowed smootly, connected the main characters in mind-blowing ways, and kept me thoroughly intrigued chapter to chapter.

****SPOILER ALERT***

Deeper is a story that centers around the lives of Avi Linton and Noah Adams. Avi recently moved from her hometown in Florida to start a new life in New York City. The reason for the move is shroaded in mystery for most of the novel, but the reasoning does express Avi's desires to run whenever things get a little tough in her life. Avi is now working as a school teacher and soon makes friends with a fellow teacher who invites her out for a night at a local club. While there Avi meets Noah Adams, a legit businessman with an underbelly of drug operations hidden under his "honest" career.

Sparks ignite between them, but as turned on as Avi is by the sexy, mysterious man, she's equally annoyed at herself for being attracted to someone like him. She keeps him at arm's length until she finally can't take it anymore. The two fall into a passionate relationship, both unaware of a hidden connection between the two of them.

Harry, a local cop and the man who helped Noah get of the streets, is the man Noah looks at like a father-figure. And Avi? She finds out that Harry IS her father, a man she previously believed was dead, unaware of his connection to Noah. The two are to meet, and they do, but bullets fly. Harry is gunned down in front of his only child, and before he dies he whispers Noah's name.

Noah sets out for revenge and gets it, but unbeknownst to Avi and Noah, the murderer had a lover mentioned in the book--from beginning until end. And the lover has an axe to grind. My hopes are that the nameless lover is brought forth in the sequel. I'm anxious to know more about this mysterious man ... or woman.

I love this book. I love the way the two main characters learned to accept one another despite their flaws. I love the way Allyn connected all the characters in a web-like way, their backstories woven together without their knowledge.

This book is dark and the title Deeper really fits. The well of emotions that we see in the characters runs deep. At the start of the book, we meet Harry and Noah, and we see some drugs that are killing people. How do they know one another? What are they to one another? Avi is a young lady who has moved to New York from Florida where she was born, getting away from her mother. She meets a girl named Sophie. Sophea lost her parents one after the other when she was younger and was taken in by her aunt and uncle. Avi was told her father was dead. She goes out to a club one night with Sophie. She meets Noah and Jayson that night. Who are these guys? One day, Avi finds a business card for an NYC PD Detective stuck into her mailbox. What does she do with the card? Does she call the guy or throw it away? What happens either way? One day, she's on her way to meet someone at a local place to get something to eat. What happens as she starts crossing the street? Who is Ido? Who is the mysterious person that he is with in his office? Who is Ido's lover? What do they have against Noah and the Detective? Who is looking for revenge and why? Who is just looking to take over? What happened that caused Avi to leave Florida? To walk away from her mother? What guilt does she carry? When she breaks down and actually tells Noah about it, what happens? What does Ido have to do with all of this? When Noah sends Jayson packing, away from Avi, what does he do in exchange? When Noah finds out who murdered his friend Harry, and what Jayson did, what actions take place? When Ro's wife is shot outside a club when they're leaving one night, what retribution takes place after Avi is rescued from the police department for the second time by Mr. Plummer, Noah's attorney? Will there be an HEA to this? When you read and find out some of the dark stuff going on, it is eye opening. Read it, it's good!

*I was gifted an ARC of Deeper in exchange for an honest review.*

Avianna Linton has come to New York City for a fresh start as an elementary school teacher, looking to live her life with no complications. But hanging out with her new friend Sophie adds complications—namely, Noah Adams. Noah is a powerful man who doesn’t take no for an answer, and he’s decided he wants Avi. The attraction is mutual, but Avi pushes him away, until she can’t resist him any longer.

Avi keeps her past a secret, and Noah is not very forthcoming about his business. Their worlds collide in several ways, drawing them together and then pushing them apart. Avi will have to decide whether her love for Noah is strong enough to overlook what he does for a living or if she needs to walk away.

Deeper certainly lives up to its name with its multi-leveled suspense. The story includes several plot lines that all come together in the end but keep you guessing for a while. It is well written with a very strong alpha male character and quite a bit of intrigue.

Noah is the kind of character you love to hate, which makes me love him more. And Avi standing up to him is something he’s not used to, which makes me love her more. She’s strong at times and needy at others, but as her past is slowly revealed you understand why she’s closed herself off the way she has.

This is a great debut from Allyn Lesley, and I look forward to reading the second installment.

REVIEWED FOR SERAPHIM BOOK REVIEWS

Two hard headed people are forced to face off. Noah the "Long of New York and Avi, a school teacher meet. There is an attraction for Noah but Avi is having none of it, her protective armour is strong and she wears it whenever she is in proximity to him.

"I'm a paradox, like that flower. Very pretty flower, but also deadly."

Underneath the "i'm just a plain teacher" facade, Avi actually has had a scary life, she hides it well. Noah as also had a tough life, that all turned around when he was getting in trouble as a teenager and a police officer offered him an olive branch. No he's wealthy and reputable and he wants Avi.

"A woman with her arms up and eyes closed distracted Noah. Her body moved sensuously against a man he knew of as a poindexter. His quick scan revealed he wasn't the only one caught in the woman's web of seduction."

Avi stays strong and holds off as long as she can and along their way these two seem to build this chemistry. The back and forth banter is fun and kinda compelling to read. Turns out that even at the opposite ends of the spectrum they have quite a bit in common.

There is a lot going on in this book, but don't worry, no whiplash. It's well paced, well thought out and a good balance of romance, drama, suspense and calm.

"That was her choice, choices are made every day. The consequences weren't always favourable, but one had to be man or woman enough to deal with whatever the outcome was."

**** 4.5 Cranky Stars ****

Noah Adams is hot, rich and very, very dangerous.

Avianna Linton is a primary school teacher, at 24 she is enthusiastic and optimistic about the job she loves.........but........ she is running from something.

Their attraction for each other is undeniable, but impractical...

Drugs, murder, betrayal, deceit, friendship, love, lust are all elements that feature in this story. There were times that I was close to tears, my emotions were twisted, getting to know characters, liking them and then not approving of their life decisions. It shows that love will seek you out no matter which side of the law you are on.

I found the book well written and well balanced with suspense, sex and violence being contributing factors to the story and not any one of them overwhelming the others.

I award this story 4.5 Cranky stars...............AAAAAnd book 2 is waiting for me!

One night at a club Noah meets Avi. Noah decides Avi is going home with him that night but when it doesn't happen he can't get her out of his mind. Even though Avi thought Noah was arrogant and full of himself but she can't get him out of her mind.

In this story the characters were slowly developed throughout the story. This added suspense to the story and the characters. The secondary characters also added so much to the story. Even though Noah has a vibe of danger you can tell that he is fiercely protective of his family and friends. Avi is a strong women but is running from something. She refuses to give in to Noah's attention.

I also loved that it was not instalove between Noah and Avi. Noah had to work on Avi to get her attention, and when he did she would have second thoughts and run. The story not only about their relationship. It includes a past that proves that family is not always blood. A man who came from nothing and made himself successful and the friends that helped him. A girl who had a great past that comes crashing down. The intense and suspenseful story will keep you turning the pages to see what will happen next.

LEEANN'S REVIEW
4 STARS

This was a bit hard to follow at the beginning but it got easier as the story went on.
I haven’t given less than 4 stars because as the story progresses it becomes more interesting and intriguing.

Avi grew up with a single mother who sacrificed everything so Avi could get a good education and make something of her life.

Noah grew up without the love of anyone until he met Harry. Harry was a cop & ironically enough, Noah & Harry meet while Noah is doing a drug deal.
From that point Noahs life changes but not necessarily in the way you would think.

Now years later, Avi has come into Noah’s life & Harry is dead. The way these 3 lives are intertwined is unexpected and interesting.

I think the characters probably needed a little bit more development, however, the way the story itself was written & progressed made up for it.
This is a story that has so many players, twist & turns that it really will keep you interested until the end.
It is the 1st book in the series & doesn’t conclude Avi & Noah’s story, so I am eagerly awaiting book 2 to see where this author takes them next.

If you like romance stories that are filled with suspense & enjoy watching a strong willed woman bring the bad boy to his knees then you might want to check
this one out, I think it is well work one clicking & taking a chance on!!

When I'm picking up a book from an author that is new to me it is always kind of interesting to find out what their style of writing will be, how easy it will be to follow or how developed the story-line is and will the character development be done in such a way that you can relate to them and really immerse yourself in the book. I found Deeper to be at times a little intense, this book deals with some strongly deep topics and there is some suspenseful moments.

I found myself getting into this story and the pages kept turning. Noah is one intense and complicated guy. I found myself liking his character and at the same time wanting to not like him. He is head of a business, has money to spend, but he is very rough around the edges to say the least and not your everyday run of the mill guy I'd want to date.

Avi is a teacher with a complicated past, and not at all what I expected. Her relationship with Noah is at times volatile but not violent and very complicated.

This story has more twists and turns than you will expect and a few times was a little choppy, but overall it is a good read. Warning it is the first book in the series so there is a bit of a cliffhanger, but that just makes us want to know what is next for Avi and Noah.

This book is an intriguing mix of crime and romance - although not romantic romance. Instead, you get instant hot attraction, the kind that fills your every thought and overwhelms you when you least expect it.

This is how it is between Avi and Noah. At first glance, a primary school teacher and a cartel boss don't have much in common, but there is more to both of these characters than meets the eye. Noah is the ultimate anti-hero; you are never quite sure if he is good or bad. He seems good at heart but is very cold and collected when he does 'bad' stuff. This certainly kept me on my toes, and it did for Avi too. She was a sassy character with a mile-wide stubborn streak. She gave him space when he needed it, but also called him out when he was being unreasonable. They have some fantastic dialogue in the book!

Very well written, with no editing or grammatical errors that I could see, this is a twisted and dark crime romance that will definitely leave you wanting more. Recommended by me.

I am not going to lie, it took me a while to get into this book. Make that several chapters to the 14th because it was very slow at developing and not mention, it was confusing as well. With switching perspectives, I have no problem with but I wish I knew who I was reading before diving into that section.

Deeper wasn't awful because it does suck in near the end and you need to know what is happening next. So you just kind of had to jump into the next book, Descent.

Filled with drugs, crime, and love, I think that you will indeed fall in love with the drug overload and the girl who will make you laugh with her antics.

Allyn Lesley did the best that she could to draw me into a suspense themed novel and I think that although it isn't my favorite genre, I appreciated this book by the end with a 3.7 out of 5 stars. Read this book and judge it for yourself.

Deeper Wounds to Heal.....

This books pulls you in page 1 with the real and cruel conceptions of life, as if your watching it happen in front of you. After reading this book i definitely feel this was just the tipping point to a bigger picture and deeper wounds to unravel. Your taking into the lives of Avi and Noah, two people affected by their environment that have found each other through the odds. I know Noah's world wouldn't allow him to, but I was hoping for more of a connection between them,so i felt a gap there in a sense but i knew the normality of it. I thought this was good read and i'm looking forward for more to come..4 stars
