The nightmares never stop. Love and happiness is just an illusion, a Fairy Tale. Men, all men, want one thing, sex and then they leave. At least that's how it is for Jaden Smith. She lost her father at the age of 9, the only man who truly loved her. Her mother used and manipulated her while teaching her younger sister how to trap a man. At the age of 20, she finally escaped. She started to believe in love and happiness again. Until her mother and sister took it all away, again. Jaden now believes she is broken and beyond repair. Yet, she prays that maybe, just maybe, one day... Just Breathe Nightmares for Chase Daniels occurred during the day. Money hungry woman coming at him, all day every day. Love and happiness is just an illusion, a Fairy Tale. Samantha broke him. She crushed his heart and world. He swore that he would never let any woman close enough to hurt him again. Yet, he prays that maybe, just maybe, one day... Just Breathe
Angela Fattig spent most of her childhood reading any book she could find. That's when her passion of writing was born. When she was 10, she started writing short stories and poems and kept quite a collection.
In 1998, she met Paul and they have shared a life together for 15 years. In 1999, she introduced the world to her first born, Brandi, and again in 2000, Sarah.
Today, when she is not doing what she loves, writing, she spends time with her beautiful family and the addition of two dogs named Izzy and Herly.
Angela's inspirations have always been Stephen King and Poe.
I read this book in one sitting, I couldn't put it down.
I first thought Chase Daniels was a douche, accusing Jaden of something that just wasn't true but the more I read the more I realized how wrong I was. Chase is caring, loving, protective, attentive and a hopeless romantic....Sigh!! Chase found his EX girlfriend in bed with his best friend and now has trouble trusting people.
Jaden had an awful upbringing, she's broken and thinks love only exists in fairy tales but after applying for an PA position, does she finally meet someone who can show her love really do exist?
This book is told in both Jaden's and chase's point of views. All the characters are lovable and the story is easy to follow. Looking forward to reading the second book!!
I received this as an arc in exchange for an honest review.
First I want to tank Angela for allowing me the opportunity to read such an amazing book. You have a wonderful way with words. I am very blessed to have met you and read your book. You are a talented woman. Keep rocking the book world girl.
Now about the book. Oh!!! This book *sigh* WOW! Chase and Jaden both have a troubled past. Do they take a chance to work beyond it all? Lori and John think they can. Reading this book was one of the best decisions I have made.
This book was quite different from Angela Fattig's usual books! This is a story of love and forgiveness and second chances in life. Jaden was abused and broken by her mother. Chase was used by women and warding off gold diggers. Jaden and Chase are well developed and written characters. I really enjoyed this book and was captivated to see how it would end. Once again, the author has shown her versatility and brilliance.
Currently the market for Erotic Romance based on Hot Billionaires and some exceptionally raunchy sex is still on the rise, riding hard on the back of the success of 50 Shades. You may be thinking "Oh No Not Another One!" but Just...Breathe by Angela Fattig is some thing else, it is something more and has a huge amount of substance to the plot where others currently fall thinly flat. Angela Fattig has given us a brillint trilogy for you to get your teeth into and as some as you are aware I have been without my broadband during a house move, this highly sexual and sinfully sweet trilogy beginning with Just.... Breathe were just some of the books that have gotten me through!
So who are our star characters? We have the fabulous and devilishly handsome Chase Daniels. This man is simply far too good to be true! Yes, he has been hurt massively in the past and is currently being constantly hounded by the money grabbing and empty shelled women who are nothing more than a distraction to him.
On the other side we have Jaden Smith who although has suffered a great personal tragedy, losing her dad at the age of 19 who was the only one of her parents who truly loved her and cared for her. Her mother dislikes her to the point of hating her because she reminds her of her dead husband too much, thinking her plain and not worthy of her time she concentrates on her other daughter grooming her into the perfect woman who can "catch" the perfect husband, one who has money - something she has become accustomed to. Living without their father's money, Jaden's mother sells her off to the highest bidder in order to make money for them all to live off. This sick and twisted life in which Jaden grows up in shapes the person she becomes, but rather than becoming bitter and overwhelmed by her past she has learnt to try and move past her demons in order to become a better person.
Devastating nightmares plague her, dreams of the men using her while her mother stood by haunt her and even though she worked hard to move past it all when she managed to get away when she was 20, it all came flooding back the day she discovered her sister in her boyfriends bed! So when it comes to Chase she is scared that her mother and sister will find out about them and come looking to destroy any happiness she will find with him.
With no one who they seem and one hell of a twist that you will truly NOT see coming this is an extraordinary novel and I felt privileged to have read it. It covered some hard hitting issues which were handled with great care and sensitivity whilst at the same time really getting to the core of them to ensure that a message was given. Angela Fattig is a brilliant author and I cannot wait to read the next in the series which I have the pleasure of having already!
Reviewer for Paranormal Romance and Authors that Rock Rating 3.5 fangs
Just…Breathe is book one in The Broken series and the authors first attempt at writing in the erotic romance genre. The author comments in the dedication of the book, that book one does not contain too much erotic content but books two and three will have loads.
This book had a lot of promise but there was a lot of spelling errors and incorrect versions of words used in the book. When reading a book with numerous errors, albeit slight errors, it makes the author’s writing feel slightly immature.
The story itself made up for the errors though. This story has a love conquers all demons premise. Our main characters Jaden and Chase have been damaged in the past.
Jaden lost her father at the age of 10, and he was the only person during her young life to love her. Her mother is a gold digger who is only out to get what she can from a man. When she couldn’t snag another man after the death of her husband, she set out training up Jaden’s younger sister in the art of trapping a rich man. Unfortunately during this time she used Jaden as an income tool to keep them afloat.
Jaden escaped from the horrendous grasp of her family to make her own way in the world. She has morals and will never do anything other than earn her own way. After losing a job, she meets Chase when he interviews her for a position as his personal assistant.
Chase is rich and powerful. He has a history of only attracting women who are after his money. After finding his soon to be fiancé in bed with his friend, he loses all faith in women. Unlike many other heroes in similar stories, he does not sleep with anyone in a skirt whilst keeping his feelings out of it. Chase admits it has been four years since he last made love with anyone. I loved this about him. Finally a gentleman in an erotic romance who doesn’t only think with is manhood.
With a little help from their mutual friends, Jaden and Chase attempt to get their relationship off the ground. They are both haunted by their pasts and their demons plague them at every move.
The book ends on a cliffhanger. It’s not a huge heart-wrenching cliffhanger, so I would still recommend this book for those who avoid cliffhanger endings.
We are given a good insight into the characters throughout the book, so I can predict there will be a lot more ups and downs before the couple eventually realize they are made for each other. I even suspect that an appearance from Jaden’s mother and sister will be made.
I am looking forward to learning how it all plays out.
Jaden has had a hard knock life. Her father left her mother and sister early in her childhood. Her mother never loved her, and prostituted her, because she said that the only reason a man would want her was for sex. Fast forward a few years, Jaden is in a long term relationship with Steven, but walks in on him with none other than her sister. Of course, by this time Jaden's self-esteem and self-worth are nearing non-existent. Jaden is a hard worker and won't take a handout from anyone, even longtime friend, Lori. Chase thought he had everything with his old flame. He was even ready to ask her to marry him, but he walked in on her with someone else. So Chase threw himself into his work, and swore off women for good. Chase's friend John is dating Jaden's friend Lori, and the two of them conspire to get Jaden and Chase together, but what they don't know, is that Jaden has taken a job offer from Chase and there is an unbelievable amount of tension between them within a few moments of meeting.
Lori and John have set up a blind date between Chase and Jaden, on the night of their first meeting. To say it doesn't go well is an understatement. Chase accuses Jaden of being money hungry, which is as far from the truth as can be. She doesn't take lightly to being called a gold digger, and lays into Chase, storming out during their first date. Chase takes Jaden home, and things become heated. During the next week, things go back and forth between Chase and Jaden, and end with Chase being thrown out of Lori's apartment. Lori and John take Jaden on an island vacation for her birthday, and there she must decide whether Chase is worth putting her heart on the line for or not. She decides to take the risk, and Chase joins them on the island. But work just won't wait, and Chase and Lori must go home early. She proves her worth as far as being an employee. But they still have so much to work out, so many past hurts to deal with.
Angela Fattig is a great story teller. She writes in an easy to read fashion, almost like being told a story by a best friend. She really makes you feel like you are right there in the middle of things, a fly on the wall if you will!
Angela is fully developing these characters, letting us in on what makes them tick. The book is written from both Jaden and Chase's points of view, so there is no guessing as to how they each react to situations. Personally, I prefer knowing what the other character is thinking as the story unfolds.
Obsessed by Books received this as an arc in exchange for an honest review.
Just…Breathe.. Well what can I say; I was hooked the moment Chase and Jaden met. I finished the book in one day, and I would do it again. Bottom line, I can’t wait to read the next book!
I really like that both of them were ‘broken’ and even though they fell for each other the moment they met, it wasn’t a fairytale like most books are. You see these two who have these pasts that makes them put a wall up will everyone, especially Jaden. The abuse and neglect she had as a kid was horrible and even though she doesn’t realize it, she is so strong with everything that has happened to her. Chase may be a prick sometimes but his past isn’t that great either. I love how Angela brought two ‘broken’ people together, and had them learn how to trust again.. well almost. ;)
I love how the first time they had sex Chase tells Jaden, “I don’t fuck baby, I make love.” They hardly knew each other and Chase was basically telling her that he loved her. Here we have a guy that swore off girls and didn’t believe in love and right off the bat he broke that wall for her, or put it down for a moment at least.
Chase describes love so good to Jaden right there and everything he thought to be true of women disappears when it comes to Jaden. They need each other, more then they realize and Chase is going to fight for her no matter how hard she tries to push him away. You see that in the last page of the book, which leaves you hanging.
I have been lucky enough to have been given an ARC of Just….Breathe by the author in exchange for an honest review. I have not read anything written by this author before, so my review will not be marred with any preconceived ideas of what I might have been expecting from this book. This is the story of Jaden and Chase. Both characters come together with a bang and what follows is the story of their (at times) heartbreaking journey to find true love. I love Jaden's character. She is a strong and resilient woman, who, against an awful childhood upbringing has claimed her life and truly made it her own. She has her flaws of course but that just makes her human and all the more likeable. Chase Daniels, corporate executive, high flyer, mega rich and mega good looking. I loved the way the author has written Chase. He's a sharp, intelligent businessman who is not too scared to admit when he's made a mistake and apologise for it. At the beginning of the book I felt as though I didn't know enough about the characters before they came together. However, as the story progressed the writer let you into their world little by little. I originally thought the beginning of the story was a little slow but in hindsight I was wrong and by the end of the book I was like -'No, don't let this be end!' I will definitely be clicking pre-order on the next instalment.
This is the first book of Angela Fattig I've has the pleasure of reading. This isn't a light and happy love story, more a tale of what happens after your fairy tales have really turned into nightmares and what do you do when you wake up...
The story introduces you to Jaden, a beautiful young woman whose had the most horrific start in life. She's already decided love and happiness are a fairy tale after loosing her father at the age of 9 and any faith that men can treat women with respect and care being thwarted by her upbringing. She meets Chase, immediately they dislike each other and this is where the tale continues from dual Pov's. This guarded, handsome male's had no luck with women, all their interested in is his wealth and prestige. None genuinely wanted him, he's had his heart broken before and refuses to let it be hurt again. They both are wary of relationships, but can two 'broken' people heal each other and learn to breathe freely again?
It does end on a cliff hanger, but with such endearing characters and many plot lines left unanswered I can't wait for more!!
Like fighting fate, Chase and Jaden fit together like a lock and key, only both of their pasts are riddled with pain and disappointment. He fears she is the very thing she has sworn never to become. When these two finally she through sparks fly. This book is equal parts steamy, sweet and heartbreaking. Angela tells a beautiful story about a journey to finding true love. I love that Jaden is a strong female no matter how much crap life has dealt her, she is strong and although she doesn't see it beautiful. Chase has had the raw end of the deal with women, he has money and he thinks that's the only thing a woman ever sees him for, and for the most part that's true, except Jaden is like no woman he's met before!! If your one who believes that true love exists than this is definitely a book you'll want to get your hands on!!
Let me start this review by warning anyone that is considering reading Just...Breathe by Angela Fattig that this was her first erotica book. If you like steamy erotica, this may not be the book for you. And since it is her first erotica, I will go easy on the review. With that being said, this book kind of disappointed me. When I was asked if I wanted to read an erotica book, I was expecting a steamy, sex filled book. The book was well written, I just couldn't get into it. This book was about two people, Chase and Jaden, who have both had a rocky past with the opposite sex. It took the both of them falling for each other for them to realize that not everyone was like those men and women from their pasts. I give this book 3.5 stars. As I said before, it isn't because I like the book, I just couldn't get into it. For a first try at erotica, it was a decent book.

Let me start off by saying this was the first book I had read by this author. I also knew this was the first of this kind of book she had ever written so I was a little unsure of how this would go. My worries were completely unnecessary. The characters were so easy to fall for. I felt so bad for Jaden and the hand she had been dealt in her life. Chase had had a bad run of luck with women so they were both uneasy about relationships. Turns out they were exactly what the other needed. The book ends with a bit of a cliff hanger and I can not wait until the next one comes out. I read this book in less than 24 hours. I could not put it down. Angela definitely did well in her first try in this genre.
Another winner for Angela Fattig. I have to say I was unsure what to expect from this story when I started reading it. Both the female and male lead characters were having a really bad day when they first met and it is highly explosive and entertaining. It is very obvious from the start that they are perfect for each other but they both have baggage and don't trust easily. The storyline had a nice flow and keeps your interest. It is easy to put yourself in the place of either character, making the story very realistic and you just can't help falling in love with them. I warn you now that there is a cliffhanger ending.
If you have not had the pleasure of reading Ms. Fattig's stories this is a great introduction. I look forward to reading what happens next.
This book starts off with a bang and moves fast. The first time Jaden and Chase meet they are having bad days and don't particularly like each other. Both of them have pasts that make them guard there heart. It is a great story that makes you keep turning the pages to see what happens. Sparks fly, heartbreak happens and do they find true love?
The characters are well written and you can relate to them. Even the secondary characters are great. Throughout the whole book you root for Jaden and Chase and feel their pain as they tell the pain of their pasts.
If you are looking for a book about second chances and love with a dose of heartbreak pick up this book, you won't be disappointed.
I received a gift copy from the author in exchange for an honest review.
Its a roll-coaster ride of emotions from beginning to end
Jaden and Chase rub each other the wrong way from the first moment they met. Chase's Aunt managed to convince him Jaden still is the right women for the job. She is also secretly hoping Jaden is also the right women for his heart after a rather nasty breakup in his last relationship. Both these two have demons they must fight together if they are to make each other whole.
I look forward to read the next book in the series
I loved this book!! I enjoyed when it first started out and after the interview and they were telling their friends how much they hated each other. Then when it comes down to it Jaden has been hurt really bad in her past and you can see how she is fighting to keep it together. Then with Chase, when he struggles he looks like an ass. I can't wait for book two to come out and see where it goes with Jaden and Chase...
i recieved a copy of this book for an honest review. this is the second book of Angela's that i have read. I absolutely love her books! she knows how to grab a hold of you from the very begining and keep you rivited till the very end. I absolutely love her characters, and how the story, and the love, developed. it was more real to life then alot of love storys are. i cannot wait to read another book from this author!
I loved this book and I can't wait for the next one! Just...Breathe is the first book in Angela Fattig's The Broken Series. Chase has major issues trusting women because of his past. Jaden has issues trusting anyone because of hers. Chase and Jaden's chemistry is off the charts. They are the perfect couple, they just need to figure it out for themselves. I will definitely be watching for the second book in this series.
This is a really great story. It's the first book I've read by this author and she's now got a new fan.
This is Jaden and Chases story. These two characters are broken. They've been hurt in the past and afraid to trust again. I was so rooting for them to find happiness. My heart broke for Jaden.
Great steamy story with heartache. Real and likeable characters had me reading this in one sitting.
With a cliffhanger like that one I'm glad I got book two to jump right into.
Do fairy tales come true? Jaden was broken years ago but held onto a dream through her darkness. Chase gave up on trusting woman long ago. When you come face to face with the one you've been waiting for, you have to ask if it's enough to open you heart and trust again. This story blew me away and wasn't how I seen it going. Can't wait to read the second book. Chase is demanding but it's just what Jaden needs, but will she be able to handle it?
She did it again! --------- ( A Beta Reader Review)
Once again Angela has written a soul catching story!
Although the story was a bit too formal and 'roboty' and not as smooth flowing as a reader would expect it to be, but it was very enjoyable with a few sneaky twists that I know Angels just loves putting in to keep the reader guessing.
A heartwarming story of second chances. Another very enjoyable book by Angela Fattig. Is there anything she can't write? I don't think there is, but that is just one opinion. The character development was very good as was the story itself. You can't help but to fall in love with Jaden and Chase as their story comes together.
This is my first book by this author and it was a interesting read. This follows both characters story which was at times heartbreaking on there path to find true love. They each have there flaws but it makes them more human. As the story progresses we see more and more of there world and the characters are relatable.
I absolutely looove Chase! He is so powerful and sexy yet still vulnerable and a hopeless romantic. Throughout the book I been rooting for Jaden and Chase, I honestly hope everything works out for them in the upcoming book from this series. Definitely a five-star book and I can't wait for more to come.
I love this book. I wasn't prepared for the emotions I would feel as I read this book. My heart broke for Jaden, and I was happy to see Chase be such a wonderful supportive man. together these two learn to heal as they learn to trust each other. Ms Fattig has done a fantastic job conveying the feelings from her characters to her readers. 5 star read.
Omg this book is awesome. I feel like I'm on a rollercoaster. My emotions are going up and down. Chase is hot. Jaden is beautifully broken. I think I know Samantha. I must have book two.
An emotional ride! Fast paced and WOW! Very talented author! If you want steam, and hotness this series is the one you are looking for! I recommend that this series be read in order to appreciate the authors full talent!
I loved this book! Jaden and Chase are amazing together! Jaden has had a rough childhood and rough adulthood. Chase is jaded after a horrible relationship. This is a must read!
