Simon is a triplet!! Him and his brothers are described as being gorgeous and there are three of them!! Sign me up ;) Any way, I really liked Simon, he’s got this reputation of being kind of awful (mostly because he broke Sidney’s heart I’m sure) but he’s actually funny and nice. He was a really enjoyable character and I loved seeing him and Sidney together, there was so much history between the two (not only romantic) and it made me yearn for the Simon and Sidney to be on the pages together!
Sidney was also an enjoyable character. She is a make-up artist in Hollywood which added a complexity to her character that I really liked. She spent so much time trying to distance herself from the socialite scene that she was born into only to end up in a similarly public arena because of her job. I thought it was interesting to see her try to reconcile her job with her wanting not to be in any sort of spotlight. Sidney has a bit of a flirtation with this guy from work who she refers to as GQ, I wouldn’t mind seeing more interaction between the two of them in the future. For the beginning of the book there was way more interaction with GQ than Simon which could be setting up for a bit of a love triangle. With the ending of the book I am firmly on Team Simon right now though, I wouldn’t count GQ out of the race.
This book read a bit like a diary. I often felt like Sidney was talking to me which was an interesting experience as a reader. It took a bit of getting used to, there were times when it was like she paused what was happening to explain things to the reader and then hit play after the explanation. It was a bit disorienting at times but it was unique and seemed to be well done. I’m looking forward to reading more about Sidney and Simon!

When I chose to leave home I knew what I was giving up. I knew I was walking away from life as I knew it and the plans that we had made.
We…us…him and I…
It’s funny to think of him in a different light…or life.
That’s what it feels like, a lifetime ago.
But I’m a different person now. I have rules and goals. And if it wasn’t for my parents' vow renewal I would have successfully evaded him for the rest of my life. This is not by choice, I can tell you that.
I just need to focus and remember the key to this weekend is avoidance…and alcohol. But if anyone can pull that off it’s me, Sidney Chandler, queen of avoiding anything that will make me feel.
It’s just one weekend, right?
One very long weekend with my family…friends…my sisters and me…together, and our nemeses, the McAllister triplets.
What could possibly go wrong?
Everything.
They say you never forget your first love, now just imagine how hard it is to forget your only.
This is going to suck.

”When I was a young girl and had my first broken heart my mother gave me some advice. She said, ”Never love anyone more than they love you,” which sounds cynical to most, but watching my parents together I’ve realized now that what she meant was to love each other equally. The day-to-day like of each other will rise and fall, but the genuine love will never be questioned if it’s equal.”Sidney Chandler is a sweet and feisty character while Simon tends to be a bit caustic and often brews trouble wherever he goes. Both are beautiful and came from rich families. They’ve been neighbors since childhood and since then, they’ve perfected the art of pranks and jokes. I must say it was entertaining to see them match up with each other together with Sidney’s two elder sisters and Simon’s two brothers.
