I've started to research about speed reading and the title of the book caught my attention. My brain wanted to read it and to start doing it. I hope I will be able to finish the book today and I'll try to be very specific about every chapter.
Chapter 1: Speed Reading Myths
I really loved this one especially because I was sceptic about this method. I thought if I start to read faster I wouldn't expand my vocabulary and I won't understand what is happening in book. Also I thought there is only one method that everyone is using. This chapter blow away my doubt.
Chapter 2: Breaking old habits
This chapter helped me to find out what was my „mistakes“. Better said what was stopping me from being a faster reader. Also motivated me to think more about it before I continue to read next one.
Chapter 3: The basics of Speed Reading
I appreciate someone who was talking about good sides of reading. As a bookworm I can relate to all of them. Also I loved the way they explaining how people studied earlier and how this is actually possible. Bill wroted about successful people who was/is using this method and that's amazing. Also I still have a doubt can I do this but it teached me to have a positive mindset with it.
Chapter 4: Reading with success
This is the part where author start to explain some of, let's freely say, „technics“ of speed reading and what can make you slower. Even if this is very important I feel a little bit irritated because I think he is repeating some of the points all the time. Although, some of the tips are really helpful and I will try to use them.
Chapter 5: Creating your reading environment
I found quite irritating that he is using a well known facts about environment that is learned by heart until know. But maybe that is good because he reminded me that I probably shouldn't read in bed like I'm doing now so I will make my bed and sit on my desk instead. Also I liked he's perception of „bad sides of technology that makes us feel like we are doing something for us but actually we don't do that. It's even harder than it was before.
Chapter 6: Be more visual
At first glance I thought tips from this chapter are useless. Like how I could stop doing something that is so normal and is that even possible but than I tried. And my Gosh, it's unbelievable. Still so hard to do it without counting or so but it's good to try.
Chapter 7: Read more in less time
Through this chapter I tried tips from the previous one. I can't tell it was successful until the end because I'm stil a little bit sceptic about it but it's better and better. I'll try to use tips from this one trough the next one.
Chapter 8: Skimming, scanning and the other reading methods
Okay let's jump on the technics of comprehension. This chapter was quite interesting and showing us that we already use this method and it could be helpful from time to time
Chapter 9: Cultivating as in-depth understanding
Okay it was really hard to focus when you reading vertical but I understand the point of the chapter. Author gave us examples of studying trough the books and it was very helpful. But I noticed how my peripheral Peripheral vision expanded and how I could read whole line with minimal eye movement. I think it's time to see how much words I can read in one minute.
Chapter 10: Organizational patterns
Well, 335 words are still very bad. Over all I didn't understand a lot because I was reading vertically and very fast. I will see what should I do by the vertical thing.
When I didn't used a vertical thing I read 333 words which isn't as bad as I thought will be and my understanding is way better.
However, author give us a trick how to use speed Reading and study along which is very interesting.
Chapter 11: Noting keywords and developing memory techniques
This was well known chapter because I using this method for a really long period.

There was all about summary of this book and positive thinking about this.
Well, it was very interesting book but I can't give her 5 stars. Yet. For know it will be 4 but as time pass I'll see does it works.
Trust your eyes he says :( Why do we still have to read every single word sideways to comprehend the entire passage? I know about people who can read the entire page by running their eyes diagonally across it. It can be genius or it can be meticulous practice. What I need is meticulous practice.
Some of the techniques presented are an oxy moran. reading vertically even if it was presented and explained, but it will confuse any comprehension that you may give. I can't give this book more than one star.
Nice refresher course; helps fine tune reading habits - Choose reading environment; Keep your focus; Start with pre-reading - Stop subvocalization; Read as fast as you cam; Watch out for keywords - When trying to learn a new skill (like speed reading), keep an aggressive frame of mind - Start by dividing the page into 4 quadrants (UL - UR - LL - LR) - Keep in mind, reading fast is about eliminating the voices in your head

The book was pretty worthless, well... other than it did give me an opportunity to practice speed reading--I wanted to get through it as fast I possibly could! :) After finishing it, I found much better articles online that that not only presented, but also explained some of the techniques far more thoroughly and in a more reasonable/rational manner (without the ridiculous hype, fluff and silliness)
decent advice. nothing really earth shattering, but obvious and not so obvious tips we overlook. pretty short book, and kind of reminded me a little of Jim kwik methods
