The Lost Angels #4

Warrior's Angel

Rate this book
Michael Salvatore is a seasoned detective with the NYPD. The six-foot-two hard body with piercing blue eyes is smart, fast, and never fails to get his guy. But Detective Salvatore is also Michael – the Warrior Archangel, and the last of the Four Favored who came to Earth two thousand years ago to find the women, the archesses, who had been lost to them. He’s lead angel armies for millennia, and there isn’t a case he can’t crack, but this time, the Warrior Archangel has bitten off more than he can chew. Because this time, his target is his archess, a warrior in her own rights with no intention of losing any battles – especially when it comes to fighting him.

Rhiannon Dante is a woman who has combatted the world’s villains her entire life. A beautiful orphan with a checkered past, a hot head, and a large dose of supernatural power, she spends her days rescuing innocents, and her nights preparing for her next dangerous, covert job. She’s careful, well connected, and determined. But no one is perfect. And one day, she slips up – and Detective Michael Salvatore comes knocking on her door, turning her world completely upside down.

While Michael struggles to control a curse that plagues him with newly acquired very dark and very dangerous powers, and Rhiannon contends with an entire species bent on enslaving her, the two fated lost angels face one another in a battle of wills and undeniable desire that will either bring them together forever – or destroy them once and for all.

Warrior’s Angel is book five in The Lost Angels series by New York Times bestselling author Heather Killough-Walden, and follows Always Angel, Avenger’s Angel, Messenger’s Angel, and Death’s Angel.

Being an avid reader of Heather's books, I couldn't wait to start this one and I wasn't disappointed. It delivered in every way, romance, mystery and enough excitement to keep me reading well into the night. I absolutely loved this book and can't wait until final book in the series to tie up all the loose ends.

I truly believe, that once the series is finished, it would make a brilliant film and I can think of several hot stars to play the arch angels :-) Let's hope it gets picked up by the movie industry!

Cosa vuole Samael?
I personaggi...
Decisamente monotona come cosa.
Descrizioni quasi assenti, dialoghi banali e già sentiti.

Ci mancavano i gargoyle in sto minestrone. Ma finire UN filone??? Uno!
[I gargoyle nella recensione me li ero scordati...]

Cioè... non voglio dire...
-Sta venendo un poliziotto
- ok grazie

Lavale ogni tanto!!!!

... le mostra i jeans strappati.
E lei?

4? 5? Alè, si divide in 5 parti e problema risolto.

Let me start by saying that I love HKW! I also love this series. However, there were so many technical problems with this book that it was almost too distracting to make the book enjoyable. I felt like this book was hastily thrown together from rough drafts. The location changes without explanation from Chicago to NY. The characters also seem to change from the beginning of the book to the mid/last three quarters of the book. I think that this story would have been absolutely as good as the rest of the books if it had been edited for content and consistency.

This was a bit weird.
It was one fight after the other, but since it was the Warrior's Angel book, it shouldn't surprise me.
I don't understand why Michael would behave that way with Rhee, why would he antagonize her?

Also, Mimi. Random much?

And Samael. He's mysterious... at first it looked like he wanted one archess for himself, but in every book he ends up helping the Archangels with them. And the ending... more mystery. He makes me so curious!

Series: The Lost Angels

I almost didn't pick this series bc I felt like it was going to be just another paranormal romance with little context and a lot of sex sex sex 🙄..blah blah...But NO I WAS WRONg..this series was actual really really good. The characters are solid and it has a good storyline ..so far. Very Similar to "Fallen" series.

One of the first books I've read on a kindle, so whether that impacted on my enjoyment who knows but this was a pretty run of the mill book, nothing special unfortunately, having enjoyed the previous three books I was a little disappointed with this one.

Another great instalment in this enthralling series. I love that Michaels Archess is kind of like a hunter. That is what I pictured her as earlier on the series. Considering he is the warrior angel she should definitely be kick ass.
I am really getting annoyed at Samael’s underhanded ploys and contracts though. I did feel that Michael took his change, courtesy of the evil stormy eyed Sam, way too easily. Considering the contract was to take away all that he loved and for him to become all that he loathed and then he just looks in the mirror and goes oh yeah I like this, too bad Sam you got it wrong I’m totally into this change. I think that the uber serious and very righteous Michael would have at least taken more than a heartbeat to be okay with being morphed into a vampire nightmare incubi hybrid.
I love the meeting at the masked ball – very electric. The gargoyles are an interesting twist but seriously… don’t they have enough crappy bad guys after them all already – Kevin, the adarians, Samael, then dragons and their host of shadowy minions, now gargoyles too…. Geez bad guy central!
I always wondered why Michael was called Michael – his brothers all got cool unusual names he gets a boring everyday one. Oh well. I love the dream of him in battle armour with sword on the edge of the cliff – just as I would’ve pictured the warrior angel.
Angel finally makes an appearance… but I have a question about that…. She barely gets a mention other than a couple of lines of chat room dialogue in the first two books. Then after book 3 a prequel gets written that is all about her and how she is tailing all the archesses their entire lives and is keeping them safe (even protecting a young Eleanore from an Adarian). So where the hell was she when the archesses needed help in the first 3 books? And why isn’t she helping when they are being attacked? It kind of feels like she is more of an afterthought… a character added at a later date that doesn’t make total sense. I get the sense that she is the final archess and meant for Samael but why give a back story about her being the protector of the others if she isn’t ever there to protect them?
Why did Michael not bring his brothers in from the start? He helped all of them when they found their archesses so why not involve them? That didn’t make a lot of sense to me. His brothers would’ve been there and helped in any way possible. Some of Az’s boys could’ve helped keep Ree safe from the gargoyles too.
I loved the apartment battle scene. That was pretty epic. Although, I was expecting Rhiannon to be a little more bad ass in that scene. She spent most of it hovering over Mimi. Interesting twist with Mimi – I like that her little display brought Cal over to their side. Could be handy having a dragon on the team. One thing I did find confusing was the reappearance of the other Adarians. Didn’t they decide that Kevin had gone cray cray? I thought they killed him in the last one and Gregori brought him back. So why are they there fighting by his side again? I would have preferred to see them go over to the other side and agree to help the archangels protect the archesses instead.
Will the culmination really mean that the favoured 4 are the first to die? I hope not. Maybe it is just that they will be the first to return to their realm? Off to find book 5 so I can find out. But Samael has some serious work to do to make me want to take an interest in his story and care about the outcome. I have spent 4 books loathing him so I’m not convinced he can redeem himself in my eyes.

1. Engelssturm – Uriel
2. Engelssturm – Gabriel
3. Engelssturm – Azrael
4. Engelssturm – Michael
5. Originaltitel: Samael

Warrior's Angel is a paranormal romance and Book 4 in the Lost Angel series.

Michael Salvatore is a New York City detective and the Warrior Archangel and on the search for his archess who happens to be Rhiannon Dante. He first encounters her in Central Park where she is battling another supernatural being and ends up on Death's doorstep. He can't heal her because his healing power has been taken away by Samael through Azrael (see Book 3, Death's Angel). Samael shows up and offers him a deal. He will heal the archess and in return, Michael gets turned into everything he hates. He's a vampire, a Nightmare and an archangel while he moonlights as a cop.

From there, I didn't like him much, which may have been the author's intention. I found him to be arrogant and too tough on Rhiannon although she's quite capable of taking care of herself and even cruel which was spelled out in the story. At the same time, I felt bad for him because I he wasn't like this before and he knew he'd changed but was powerless to do anything about it. But it was never said that he wanted to, either.

When I first got a good picture of Rhiannon in my mind, I immediately thought of the actress, Rachelle LaFevre who plays Julia Shumway on the TV series, Under the Dome. She's tough, smart, cares about people and is very beautiful. She was a warrior in her own right and can definitely hold her own but it takes her awhile to figure out just what Michael is and then she doesn't figure it out on her own. Gregori tells her and then Michael confirms it.

Mimi is a nine-year old girl and frankly, she kind of annoyed me. Rhiannon is probably her best friend along with her dog, Strike and she had a problem with listening and doing what she was told. During the last battle scene in the book, she kind of saved the day, though and once I understood what she was and yet she was a child, I had to forgive her.

A disappointment for me was that the other archangels and archesses weren't involved until the very end. Michael had told them that he wanted to be alone and they respected that but I'd felt from Book 1 that there was a special connection between him and Azrael and after reading the first three books, I was expecting Az to make an unexpected appearance and try to figure out what was going on with Michael. The other three and Max were mentioned but they didn't show up and do anything until the end when Michael called them. Of course, they were worried but nobody acted on it.

The book was fast-paced and exciting and had some surprises in it. I wish I'd seen more of the other archangels but it was pretty good even without them.

I'm definitely looking forward to Samael's story. He seemed to be having a hard time in this book and I want to see what's going on with him.

The 4th book in The Lost Angels Series by Heather Killough-Walden is Warrior's Angel .

Warrior’s Angel (The Lost Angels, #4)

Blurb:

Warrior’s Angel is book five in The Lost Angels series by New York Times bestselling author Heather Killough-Walden, and follows Always Angel, Avenger’s Angel, Messenger’s Angel, and Death’s Angel

Rhiannon Dante is a fighter, a warrior, she always has been. And that’s why she works for an enigmatic philanthropist, Mr. Verdigri. He lost both his daughter and wife and now he’s the CEO of the Swattowtail Foundation, a special effect company. But that’s only its coverage: the real porpuse of it is to find anywhere women and children is danger (sold as slaves, turned into drug addicts/prostitutes) and set them free.

Rhiannon is the best in her job, mainly because she has some “abilities” that come up handy in dangerous situations: she can move objects with telekinesis, set things on fire, control the wheather and, most important, she can heal herself and others.
She’s an archess, the last to be found by the Old Man’s Favoured Four. She’s Michael’s soulmate and...she doesn't know yet!

Michael can't decide how to reveal to Rhiannon that she’s an angel, HIS angel, so he takes advantage of his NYPD detective’s job and goes to her appartment to interviewing her about a fire in a warehouse a few days earlier, the one she set on fire in order to free some women took hostage.
Rhiannon instantly understand that Michael is more than a simple police officer, and she’ll be proved right in a short time, when Michael helps her defeat an orde of gargoyles.

He can’t do anything other than revealing himself for what he actually is: the former Warrior’s Angel and also that Rhiannon is an archess. There’s so much to process and so little time…the Adrians are looking for her and now also the gargoyles, who want their revenge.

I riassumed the main story, but there’re quite a few secondary characters that I liked a lot: first of all, Mimi, 9 years old Rhiannon’s friend. They’re both red head and the little girl is very fond with her. Plus we’ll finally have the chance to meet Angel, which appears in all 4 books as web friend of all the archess!
I can’t belive I’m at the end of the saga, I’ll certainly miss all the Favoured Four, this novel is the fair conclusion of their adventures.

As always Heather Killough-Walden invented incredible (yet believable) characters, gave them different attitudes and narrated the story from different points of view (mainly Rhiannon’s).
The fight and love scenes are engaging and I enjoyed very much the dialogues, as always funny, sarcastic…real!

My vote: 8 ½/10

As a reader i enjoy a book that can draw me in, and an author that has the ability to make me feel as though I am travelling alongside the characters. This is what Heather Killough Walden accomplishes in every book I have read of hers. Her writing is nothing short of sublime. She makes me feel every bit of emotion that the characters are feeling, I feel the build up of suspense when something momentous happens, I get dragged into mystery of `what's going to happen now?` I have waited patiently for Michael' story and I wasn't disappointed. He is the warrior angel so it made sense that he would be paired with Rhiannon, who holds her own against all the odds. She is fearless, brave and strong, all of the qualities that should and does attract Michael. In essence she is the female equivalent of him so how could they not be fated to be together? We got to see Michael in the previous 3 books and we saw how protective he was of his brothers and their mates, the bond that they shared and how each brother finding their mate made him feel, this book shared all of Michael with us, his commanding presence and strength, his empathy, his loyalty and devotion to his archess, it all made for one compelling story. I watched the story play out before my eyes like a movie and in every scene there was something compelling, each part was important to the story as a whole, nothing was wasted or just there to drag the story out. The end scene in Michael' apartment made my heart soar and my eyes tear, because what else would we have expected of Rhiannon after everything we'd found out about her? What other choice could she have made? You'll have to read the book to know what I'm talking about! This series has been brilliant and I am so looking forward to the final installment, I think Samael' story is going to be the most interesting, and as for Gregori...... he's one mean mother and I can't wait to find out what's going to happen in the final showdown.

In the first three books in this series, Uriel, Gabriel, Azrael and Michael are four brothers as well as being Archangels. They came to earth to find their Archesses, in other words their fated mates. I like all the brothers but Michael has always been my favourite, not only because he is the favoured one but everything about him is so beautiful and pure.

In this fourth book, it's Michael's turn to find his Archess. Being the warrior Archangel, he works for the NYPD and his main focus is to fight for good against evil. Despite his size and the abilities he possesses, he is very gentle and protective of those he loves as well as those in need.

Rhiannon is a red head who possesses her own supernatural abilities, which she uses for the greater of good too. It is rather ironical that she stays away from the radar of the police, only to find herself drawn to Michael. This book is everything I expected as a reader, and everything is described so vividly that I was transported to every single scene throughout the whole story. The love between Michael and Rhiannon is something to behold and the battle which takes place in Michael's apartment only proves that she is as much of a warrior and would sacrifice herself for those she loves too.

I like the introduction of Mimi and hope that she has a part to play in the last of the series, which can't be released soon enough for me. I have always had a soft spot for Samael and I am looking forward to read his story.

This book didn't do it for me. I'm not sure if it's because it's been six months since I read the previous book in this series, or if I read with a less critical eye six months ago, but for one reason or another this story felt flat to me. Rhiannon was described time and time again as a fiery fighter, but her personality and interactions with a few important characters read as anything but. She was described as having been a troublemaker as a kid, and having lived a hard life, but you never really get a sense of that. Her employment situation also seems a bit Mary-Sue-like, to the point where it left me rolling my eyes at times.

Michael's always been one of the hardest of the four brothers for me to get a feel for, and I honestly don't think that changed much after finishing this book. It's like he went through the motions required of a character in his situation, but in a generic, interchangeable way – he could have been swapped with some other blindingly handsome warrior-type and I would have been none the wiser.

Mimi was a confusing character until the end of the book, and even then her situation left me shaking my head in disbelief. The villains in this book are cryptic to the point of frustration, and seem to come back to life and out of nowhere repeatedly in a disjointed and random fashion, perhaps to add to the climax when it arrives. Overall, this book felt shallow, rote, and inconsistent - and I mean that in the least insulting way possible.

Nothing particularly special for this book that is not the end of this series. Anyway we have a fast brand new very bad guy, the old bad guy that seems to convert and a sort of apocalypse, plus dragon that seem to be in auge right now. Let's wait and see what happens to Samael and Angel and then I think I'm done with angels or archangel or archess or whatever.

I'm all sorts of upset right now. I really wanted to like reading this series, but I felt like the plot line was thrown together into one big mess and too many new paranormal things/creatures were brought into this. The premise of the story was a good idea, but somehow morphed into this supernatural free for all where new characters were introduced and their stories were left wanting. Ugh. So disappointed. I had to force myself to finish since I lost interest since book 1.

Also, WHY ARE ALL THE HEROINES SO PATHETIC?! They just fall into lust by looking at an archangel and swoon from all the fairy dust blown up their asses. UGHH.

I've been patiently waiting for Michael's story, and I'm so excited it's finally here. I loved, loved Rhiannon from the very start and I think she and Michael make an amazing pair. I instantly fell for Mimi and her adorable quirkiness. I have my theories about some of the other characters, and I can't wait to find out in the final installment!

Of course, all this awesomeness is put together flawlessly with HKW's impeccable style. HKW paints such vivid pictures and takes you on a wonderful journey with her words. Another great novel to add to my HKW library. Kudos, triple kudos, to HKW!
