Had to stop reading Crushed after halfway in. Too much crazy annoying drama which had me not interested in the hero and heroine's hea. So what went wrong- The heroine cheats. Made me not like her for that. She was pregnant while this happens and seperated from the hero. Lost respect for the heroine after that. The hero was too much of wuss. I perfer uber alpha heroes. This hero lost my respect for allowing others to control what he did in his life.
I really enjoyed this book. I am a sucker for love triangles and books with lots of angst and this book definitely has it! Emmalyn was a great heroine and I loved both Ryan and Alex. At some points in the book I was rooting for Alex but I had a soft spot for Ryan from the beginning. Lacey and Jason were great characters too. Emmalyn goes through a lot in this book so be prepared for every emotion as you read this book. The book does have some editing issues, as a lot of self published books do, but I was able to overlook these because I really enjoyed the storyline. I am looking forward to reading more from S.B. Alexander.
Great first book by up and coming author S. B. Alexander. I was immersed in the story of Em and Ryan from the very beginning. And stayed emotionally attached until the very end. You can tell you're "in it" when you start yelling at the characters like they can hear you. Or by cursing the author when situations don't go the way you think they should! I did both :-)
Although there are some editing issues, like there are with most self published books, they in no way distract from the storyline. Alexander has a real talent for dialog. I would recommend this book and look forward to future books from this author!
If you have problems with errors then this will be a hard read
There were many reasons I gave this book two stars. Mostly because of all the errors with spelling and punctuation. The storyline was really all over the place. I think it could have more potential if the author were to go back and do major editing.
The other issue I had was there were many contradictory statements and the female lead was very wishy washy.
I'm so glad that I picked up this book. I was hooked from the first page, I loved how well the characters were developed and how well the story was written. I loved how connected I felt to the characters. I found it very hard to put down and I look forward to reading more books from Shannon Alexander.
This story was full of ups and downs and kept me on the edge of my seat. I was unable to put it down once I started it. Full of drama, love, heartbreak and some great steamy scenes. Look forward to reading more by this author.
First off let me say this was a very beautiful storyline. As the author pointed out, there are flaws in the novel. There are lots of editing to be desired; spelling, grammar, punctuation, wrong use of words, etc.
Now back to the storyline now that we are fully aware of the editing flaws. The author asked for an honest opinion so here it is. I loved the characters, the love triangle, and the storyline itself was a nice one. Emm, Alex, and Ryan have their own unique qualities which ties them together nicely.
The low rating is due to the editing needs. A reader can love a story but if there's too much editing the reader has to mentally do in order to properly follow the flow of the story, it makes it hard to fully enjoy the story. I believe that once the author gets someone to help with all the editing then reissue the novel, the ratings would move up. I did work my way through the whole novel. Yes it was difficult but since it was interesting enough and I wanted to know what happened in the end, I reworded sentences, fixed the punctuations, and spellings along the way while reading. Yes it did make it less enjoyable but I made it to the last page.
I liked it and I wanted to keep reading to find out what happens. I never bought Alex as a real love interest. I also really didn't like Ryan too much either. I guess if she had to be with one .... it was the right one. Which one was it? Guess you'll have to read it to find out.
I will say this, I hope the "other" one gets his own book.
There were some minor editing issues, but nothing to take you out of the story. This was one of those books with what I call pictures. Time lapses, the story focuses on a scene or pic and then more time lapses etc. I hope the next book (hopefully book 2) slows the pace down a bit and gives us more meat to the love connection.
Crushed had me guessing while my heart was crushing over events that will keep you turning the pages. There is action, betrayal, lust, love, heartache, and then some messed up family issues. As much as I enjoyed the book, there were times I was having to reread paragraphs just to understand what the writer was trying to say. For instance there was a point where the word thought was in a place that should have been threw. Grammar police should not read this because of punctuation was a big problem. Otherwise, it is a good story and will keep the reader on his/her toes wondering what event will be make her choose one best friend over the other. Great love triangle.
