A Love Rekindled (The Game of Love #1)

Approximate length: 34,226 words (a novella)

Warning: This story contains content which is intended for readers over the age of 18.

Jessica was a sexy twenty five year old. Her friends at work talked her into going to a party at a co-worker's house. She had not been out in a very long time. Jessica would rather be at home watching a movie with her son. She agreed to go, thinking she could leave after an hour and get back home.

Luke was a gorgeous football player who had just returned home after being injured playing for the Pittsburgh Steelers. His football career was over. It was the first time he had been home for more than a day in seven years. His friend from college, Linda, tried to get him out of the house. She finally got him to agree to go to a party she was having and even talked him into taking one of her friends as his date. He was not looking forward to it.

Jessica arrived at the party to hang out with her friends from work. It ended up being a much better time than she thought it would be. Her friend John pulled her along to dance with him. They laughed and joked as he dipped her. That was when she spotted Luke, her high school sweetheart, with her friend Heather. The only man she had ever truly loved.

Luke could not believe it, when his eyes connected with Jessica's. She was the woman who tore his heart in two. It took all he had not to turn around and take off out the door. His friend Linda pulled him into her home to show him around and meet her friends.

Jessica's heart raced as Linda brought Luke and Heather over to introduce him to the group from work. Jessica hurried to excuse herself before anyone could say a word. When she returned, Luke was standing with her friends. Her hands shook as Linda introduced her to Luke. She said a simple hello as he looked into her eyes in shock. Jessica excused herself to go over to the couch. She had her head down, but could feel Luke in front of her. He sat down next to her to talk. Heather came up, plopped into his lap, put her arms around his neck, and kissed his cheek.

Jessica could not take it, she had to get out of there. Without saying a word, she took off out the door to her car. How could he have been at the party? Why was he with her friend Heather? Why did he have to look even sexier than she remembered?

When Luke couldn't get her off his mind, he knew that he had to see her. He pulled up in front of her house and could not believe what he saw. Luke wanted answers.

What would she say when confronted by him?
How would she explain why she made the decisions she did?
How would he react to her answers?

A Love Rekindled is a complete, stand-alone novella.

This book was given to me for my honest review. I hope you enjoy it.

Please come and take Jessica and Luke’s journey with me as I did with them. This journey is about love that was never forgotten.

Luke and Jessica’s journey began in high school. Jessica was the girl next door that gave up the ultimate sacrifice for Luke’s dreams. Having to say good bye with no explanation to Luke was the worst thing that she would have to do so she thought. They made promises to one another that they would stay in contact all through-out college that they would remain friends. Little did Luke know that wasn’t to be in the end.

Jessica loved Luke so much that she had a secret that she was keeping from Luke not intentionally mind you it just so happens that signals got crossed during one short call and neither one could pick up that phone to see what had happened. She wanted all Luke’s dreams to come true so making the sacrifice not to call was probably best so she thought.

Luke and Jessica both had unanswered questions and some to this reviewer are still unanswered. The author did a wonderful job in reuniting these two lost loves with courage that she brought to Luke. Renee Jessica’s sister played a major part in his actions by supporting Jessica through the worst and the best of times but getting these two loves back to one another is something that she knew that she could pull off if Luke took that step. Luke did take that step and his fears were put to rest.

Jessica and Luke have the forever to eternity kind of love. It is not shaded or diminished in any way in this book. A great president once said “Only Thing We Have to Fear Is Fear Itself” he was right. The fear that these two loves have was just that. They came together and with a little help from their son Lucas their loved stayed strong. Yes you read that right Lucas is there 6 year old son. Now you have to really read this book. Hey what can I say I like a little bit of mystery when writing a review.

Kudos to Sharon Cummin she did it again with this reviewer. Thank you for giving me the pleasure of reading about these two loves and their sacrifices for love. Now my question is does Renee get her own book?

Jessica is a 25 year old single mother to a six year old son. Luke was her high school sweetheart that she broke up with before he left for college. What happens when they come face to face at a Christmas party for one of her co-workers after not seeing each other for seven years.

Don’t let the warning scare you off. This was a great little read and I enjoyed the plot line too. Jessica goes to a Christmas party at the persuasion of her sister and co-workers. It turns out, the person throwing the party was college friends with Luke, Jessica’s high school and first love. Jessica never gave Luke a real reason why she broke up with him, so when he left their small town for college, he was crushed and heartbroken. He pursued her from long distance for several weeks after leaving, but to no avail. She wouldn’t talk.

Right after he stopped calling Jessica, she discovers she is pregnant with Luke’s child. She doesn’t want him to give up on his dreams of being a professional football player, so she keeps this to herself. She knows he would stop everything to be with them. She raises their son as a single parent, with some help of her sister. After seeing her at the Christmas party, he drives by her house and sees her playing outside with young boy and assumes she is married and has completely moved on from loving him.

Imagine how he must have felt! He’s urged to connect with her, to get the answers that have gnawed at him all these years. Thus… the story unfolds completely.

A Love Rekindled, is exactly that. A second chance. It was a quickie and light-hearted read with very little unnecessary drama. If you’re looking for a feel good book, filled with hope and a chance of redemption… this is right up your alley.

This was quite a sweet, enjoyable and satisfyingly good read.
It was a short novella and was read super fast. I enjoyed the relationships between the characters, and found all the 2nd chance love aspect really sweet.
The only negative I could find, would be that it all happened very fast, and with not a lot of resistance. I loved that Jessica and Luke were each others big loves, it was very sighworthy, but the acceptance came a little too quickly. It would of been better with a bit more fight. So I could guess what was happening quite easily.
Other than that, it was a lovely read and I really enjoyed it.

**I was given a copy of this book in exchange for a honest and fair review**

this is a very quick read. The blurb pretty much tells it all, but I enjoyed it. There wasn't any drama considering the secret that Jessica kept from Luke. I love second chance romances and this one was very sweet. Looking forward to Renee's book.

3 stars. A really sweet read of two young lovers who lose each other through misconceptions and are reunited years later even though one of them has a hidden secret. A short easy read that leaves you feeling warm inside. The only downside is the writing felt a little stilted and disjointed at times but I really enjoyed the story.

A Love Rekindled

This was a sweet story of love that was lost but found. In it she left him so that he could pursue his dream. But now he is back home due to an injury that forced him to reevaluate his dream. What happens next is the story line

I was given an arc for this book in return for an honest review ,,, so here you are ,,,

Firstly let me tell you that I really did enjoy this book ,,, it's a feel good story with a HEA ,,, it has been written in the third person and you get the prospectives of both the main characters ,,, 3rd person isn't my preferred style however I didn't struggle to read this book ,,, it was smooth and flowed and was an easy read :)

So we have Jessica :) she is someone that just gets on with life ,,, as you get through the story you will love her more and more ,,, to find out the character that she is ,,, the love she has and she so not a selfish person ,,, things weren't easy for her but she made the best of what she has and she is grateful for everything and keeps positive ,,, she had her heart broken seven years ago when she made a decision about her future ,,, her boyfriend had dreams and a prosperous future she couldn't be someone that would stop that from happening ,,, doing what she thought best for them both she ended it ,,, going through life would be hard without Luke but it was best ,,, so she thought ,,, years later the last person she expected to see at her friends party was Luke ,,, but there he was

Luke ,,, what can I say about Luke ,,, he is a sweetie that's for sure ,,, broken hearted after his childhood sweetheart finished with him ,,, no explanation ,,, NOTHING ,,, he had gone through life half the person he was ,,, no relationships no feelings ,,, but he had his career as a football player ,,, his dream ,,, then that was taken from him ,,, he moved back home ,,, he goes to a party that he really didn't want to go to ,,, there she was ,,, his beat of his heart knew her presence straight away but he couldn't get past the hurt ,,,Jessica had broken him ,,,,

Neither one of them is over the other ,,, love is still there ,,, but with secrets being held on to will they be able to get through all of the past and the secrets??? ,,, they are something that could tear anyone apart

Accidents happen we all know that but when one happens and has the possibility of taking away something you hadn't quite gotten into your grasp yet could destroy you ,,, so when this happens you grab everything and hope for the best

There is a really touching moment in this book that melted my heart ,,, Lucas is a beautiful kind child ,,, he could melt anyone's heart

Recommend this book to all :)

Jessica and Luke were High School sweethearts. When he left for college to pursue his dream of becoming a professional football player, Jessica thought that letting him go would be best. She sacrificed her love to allow him to concentrate and reach his goals.

With no explanation from her as to why they were to be no longer, Luke decides to move on, never forgetting her. When an injury prevents him from playing, he decides to move back home. Little does he know that he will come face to face again with the love of his life.

Jessica is now a single mother to a 6 year old. Her life hasn’t been easy, as her parents want nothing to do with her since they found out about her pregnancy. She’s had the fortune of having her younger sister Renee helping her along the way. This has made them a very tight unit and they love each other unconditionally.

When Jessica and Luke reconnect after a party, secrets are revealed and feelings come to the forefront.

There wasn’t much drama in this story, which made it a very quick, light-hearted read. This is a story of hope, second chances, and forever love.

Review for Rising Indies United

Jessica is a 25 year old single mom of a 6 year old little boy. Her sister forces her to go to a party. She was having fun, until a blast from the past shows up.

Luke is the guy she broke up with so she wouldn't hold him back from his dream of playin pro football. Its been 7 years since she broke up with him.

She has a secret though.

This is a story about their second chance at love.

Usually I like these types of stories. This one was okay. There were some editing errors, missing words. But the story itself was predictable to me. I was actually surprised that Luke wasn't really angry or mad at Jessica for keeping that to herself for all that time.

She tells him, and they just jump into bed and have sex. To me, the sex scenes were a little boring. I caught myself skimming them for the most part. I've had a few of the authors books to review, have already read a couple of them. The sex scenes are all very similar, with characters in one book, saying the same thing as the characters in another during the sex scenes.

It's not a bad read, but just wasn't for me I guess.

This book was definitely a must read. Jessica is a single mom to a six year old little boy. She works hard, and leaves no room for a social life. At a friend's Christmas party, she runs into an old flame.

Luke is an ex-pro football star. He had his heart broken by his high school sweetheart the day he was leaving for college. After an injury that left him no longer able to play football, he moves back home with his mom.

He agrees to a blind date, who he is taking to the Christmas party.

At the Christmas party, Jessica and Luke meet again. She gets jealous, and hightails it out of there. Luke, who's curious about a conversation they had at the party, does some investigating. He runs into her sister Renee who tells him to talk to Jessica. It's a steamy reunion with love, laughs, and tears.

It's definitely a 5 star book.

A Love Rekindled although a short read (a novella) we found it enjoyable. We liked the story line. Full of emotion, we could relate to so many of the situations in the story.
A lovely, quick read we recommend it to be put on your TBR list.

3-3.5 stars. The storyline is second chance romance with a predictable surprise. I love plot lines like this. While all of the characters were likable, the story itself was just okay. I wasn't feeling the depth of the emotions that the characters were feeling. While I wanted Luke and Jessica to be together again, everything just seemed anti-climactic in terms of the story build-up and resolution despite the good outcome.

They say the road to hell is paved with good intentions, and it was good intentions that tore these two apart and kept them apart for far too many years. I don’t know how much more I can say without giving away the story, but I like to think of it as a cautionary tale. If you truly love someone, then doing the right thing means talking with them, not just acting in what you think is their best interest. There’s so much love between these two that you can’t help hoping they’ll work things out.

Great story with lovable characters. I enjoyed Sharon Cummin's book, A Love Rekindled. I'm looking forward to reading my next Sharon Cummin book. This is not a cliffhanger. It's a very short read for those with limited reading time.

Sweet Quick Read

More narration than actual conversation between characters. Quick read, but enjoyable. Seemed a little unbelievable at times. One minute he's mad at the woman he hasn't seen in 6 years because of what she did, then the next minute they're in bed.
