My name is Dr. Jason Silvers. I was a drug addict.
Well… I am a drug addict. That’s why I can’t help but lose myself to the painkillers. The ones I needed after getting shot.
I did need them… right?
I wanted to stop but I couldn’t help myself. I felt the hole underneath me become deeper and deeper. I tried gripping onto something, something to keep me afloat, but I was just becoming more and more numb.
That’s when I realized; it was her all along.
Courtney Diaz, the feisty, personable, and drop-dead beautiful college volunteer at the hospital. She was my cure. She was what would drag me out of the numbness.
Except that wasn't the only thing that she had the potential of dragging out. My past is something I’m not proud of, and now it was coming back to haunt us.
Even then, I wasn't going to lose her. There was no way.
She was my drug now.

This is Book Two (a New Adult Romantic Suspense) in The White Coat Series. It can also be read as a stand-alone story without a cliffhanger.
D.D. Parker lives on the perpetually sunny west coast with a fat cat and an affinity for Netflix marathons. Writing is Parker's passion and always has been since the ripe age of twelve, when Parker hit the internet and spent hours roleplaying as fictional characters, writing stories, and creating adventures. Today, Parker writes New Adult fiction after years of reading Young Adult and wanting something with more adult themes.
Book 2 of the White Coat series told us more about Jason. Last we knew he and Ryan had been hunted down by Emma's nutty ex, Eric. Thankfully everyone survives, but the drama isn't over. Now we have Jason who is once again struggling with his past addiction to drugs while being hospitalized after being shot. He begins to tap his pain medication trigger too much and can feel himself slipping back into his old ways. Fortunately, he has an attraction to Courtney that is stronger than his pull toward the drugs. Also from Jason's past is Ally, his physical therapist, who is obsessed with him and her brother Marco who used to do drugs with Jason in yesteryears. What a mess they cause. Jason's family has issues in this book that lead us into the next one, which will focus on Sky, Jason's younger sister. I'm sure we will also have more of Conner, her twin who just came out of the closet to the family.

I was a little worried about reading this book to start with, as I haven't read the first one in the series (yet) and I have experienced it says can be read as a 'standalone' but you can still get a little lost. So I was so thrilled with the what the author had done with this book, the way it was written, the storyline, everything! It was refreshing and a lot different from anything I have read. I was hooked for start till finish.
I enjoyed how it was fast paced for the very beginning, jumps straight into action and does actually make you think that your missing something. However as you read through chapter one you know that Jason (The Main character) is telling it in his P.O.V. He is taking the reader through his life, we start by seeing him in a life threatening position, he shows us that old habits die hard and that 'bliss' makes everything alright! I really enjoyed having it in his P.O.V the whole way through, it was just different and made it a little more rougher and that I loved.
I am not ashamed to say I have a bit of a HUGH crush on Jason, he is Clearly panty melting and a HOT dangerous Doctor can't forget about that!! Everything about him just had me wanting more and more!
True here I am going on about Dr.Silvers but Courtney is pretty amazing also! She is just so full of life and doesn't have a bad outlook on anything. She is funny, damn Hot, and so loveable! They are so different in a way, as he is just a Doctor struggling with his demons after being shot, and she is just a student in the hospital that brings life and joy to all that she can.
I am really bad at reviews because I always want to blab on for ages and give away loads, so I end up missing out things that I should of said to try and keep my mouth shut
I was honored by many accounts to receive this book from the author for my honest review.
What does one get when they have many elements to deal with? Well I am going to tell you. One heck of an Awesome Read.
Courtney-(the firecracker) Jason-(the smokin doctor) Alley-(the rebellious girl that happens to be way out there) Marco-(Ally's brother)
D.D. Parker did it again. She hit the ball right out of the park with this second book in The White Coat Series. This author brought another awareness to this reviewer and to anyone that picks up any this book.
In our every day lives we see so much going on around us but when we get sick don't we all depend on our caregivers to know what is best for us? What about what is best for them? Do we as a society care about this? This author brings us behind the scenes and shows us that we all are human. Also that we can overcome the worst of circumstances with a little help and diversions from the ones we hold dear to our hearts.
Jason and Courtney have an explosive relationship that is way HOT. I mean the sex is so HOT (you need the fire extinguisher HOT). The adversities that they over come in this book are more than most have in a lifetime. It just goes to show us that whatever life throws us that we can overcome with a little help from the ones we hold dear to our hearts.
Pick up this book and take this weird journey with these amazing characters. Enjoy them just as I did and I am sure you will too. Take the time to tell the ones that you hold dear to your heart that caring is sharing no matter what the circumstances.

I love how this book goes into Jason's past problems and he compares them to the problems he is having at that moment. Such great details. I was hooked from the beginning.
I love how you really get inside Jason's head and you believe that whatever he is thinking is actually coming from a guy. I also like that this book is mainly in the male’s point of view. Such a great series. I can’t wait to read about more of The White Coats. I don’t think I'll ever be able to look at another doctor the same ever again.
This book is a stand alone but I think it should be read after Prescribed. I would highly recommend this book.
I got this book from the author in exchange for an honest review..
Dr. Jason silivers is admitted into the same hospital that he works at. Suffering a gunshot wound and realizing that his addiction to pain medicine is going to be an issue. While she family keeps visiting him all he can do is push is med button. He knows it is wrong, but he can't stop.
A current Med Student, Courtney has a fling for Jason. Getting every chance that she gets to make some witty comments and helping him in any way that he can. She told Jason's brother that Jason needs to call her when he gets out of the hospital. Which is not a problem because Jason wants to hit it and quit it, but the problem with that is that he cannot stop thinking about Courtney in every situation.
A new physical therapist will rock Jason's socks off in the hospital bed, and then finding out who she really is a great set back.
Jason's best friend Marco is now a drug dealer, and his sister is starting to go into the same paths as him. his sister, Alley is getting ready to loose her job at the hospital for her bizarre crazy actions. these two are the perfect couple. no matter what situations come their way they know how to fix it.
this story will keep you on the ropes, make you feel sorry for Jason, and also wanting to know more :)
things start to really heat up with Courtney and Jason after their first date. Their first date really turns out to be very exciting.
I have you say that I like Numbed better that Prescribed. The author IMO did a better job on the back story of the main characters therefore we understand, and learn to love them so much more. This installment of the White Coat series start where Prescribed ends, so you get to know what happens to Jason.
The author brought some interesting topics, like addiction, drugs, death, sexuallity and unwanted pregnancy.
For me the story of DR. Jason Silvers was gut wretching. He have made some bad decisions on his youth, they are still lingering with him, although he tries to hide them. His addiction plays an important part on the story, who he succumbs to it while hospitalized and how much he struggle to don't become what he was when young.
"it seemed so right. Like two puzzle pieces finally coming together after forcing themselves into fitting with pieces they never belonged with from the start" ~Jason
So don't think it, and pick up this one and follow the story of this broken Dr. and how he overcomes what life throws at him with the help of a sexy med student named Courtney, you will no regret it.

A hot doctor who is not perfect...well who would have thought...I liked Jason when I first met him in Prescribed and I was thrilled to see that he would have his own story. This book picks up where Prescribed concludes but it is Jason and Courtney's story. Jason struggled with addition as the books description tells you but his story tells you why and know he is struggling again after being shot. His demons start to take over and how he strives to overcome them. The chemistry between he and Courtney is hot, steamy and there are some emotional moments as well. I found myself thinking what more does this man have to endure! I recommend this book but suggest that you read Prescribed first to truly understand all that has happened. I am so very glad that I found this author and will look forward to reading more of her books.
Great addition to the series! I do recommend reading this in series order, as you meet the main H/h in the first book and it lays the ground work for the main issue for the H in his book.
The H, Jason, was PERFECT! He made me swoon, laugh, cry and my panties melt right off my body. The h, Courtney, was sassy, sexy and fun! I loved her for the H.
I definitely recommend this book for a great H/h story. Just like the 1st in the series, it's shorter than I'd like but makes up for it this time with a great story line of passion and overcoming your past.
I did not read Prescribed , the first book in this series, so I was a little lost at the beginning but quickly caught up. I thought that some topics discussed were out of the usual realm (addiction, gangs, etc..) and interesting to read. Although he made some questionable le decisions Dr Jason Silver redeems himself and in particular his discussion with his brother was honest, real and heartwarming. His relationship with \Courtney develops quickly and is believable. There are tense moments in the book that are drawn out a bit much but enjoyable read.
I have read both books and it's not for me. The synopsis sounded great but Jason's issue was solved too easily. The subject had great potential however the story too turns that was too dramatic. Too much unwarranted drama for me.
This is book 2 of the series. I think I enjoyed this book more than #1. A few typos were found. The character development and storyline was stronger compared to book 1. I really enjoyed the story of Jason.
This book takes right off where prescribed left off. Giving us more insight to Jason, his past addiction with drugs, his friends, and now his budding relationship with Courtney. His life with his siblings. It is a great read.
So, I won't be continuing this series after these first two books. The drug addiction was a nice start, and the first several chapters focused on that aspect, then he was fine without the drugs. I just don't buy it.
