New York Times best selling author of Fragment and the sequel, Pandemonium, and his just-released thriller of ideas in a high tech future, Magenta. Warren Fahy was previously a manager of a bookstore, wrote essays for royalty attending college, designed Internet movie databases for 5 companies, lead writer on Rock Star Games' Red Dead Revolver, helped coin the word "mullet" as a hairstyle for the Beastie Boys, and wrote comedy for robots in Hong Kong. FANGORIA on FRAGMENT: "I haven't had this much fun reading a science/adventure thriller since Jurassic Park. For the last half I was frozen in place -- I couldn't move, couldn't talk. I even teared up a couple of times in pure joy. It took hours for the adrenaline to wear off."

JAMES ROLLINS on PANDEMONIUM: "PANDEMONIUM is pure genius, an otherworldly wonder as creative as the best of Jules Verne. Here is riveting scientific speculation paired with bravado storytelling."

Big, sprawling, whimsical epic fantasy about a young prince, Trevin, who ascends to the throne after being told by his dying father that the color crimson and what he loves most will be his doom. The way Trevin chooses to deal with this prophecy seems to bring on the doom anyway and only the courage of an intrepid group of sailors and the love and devotion of his queen can save him and their world.

The world is colorful, described in vivid hues, and filled with magic both charming and dreadful. The magical monsters and demons are terrifying, the battles at sea are thrilling, the love between Trevin and his young queen Neuvia is sweet and true. The book is kind of disjointed, seeming to go in one direction then heading off into something else, but it all comes together in the end. There are a handful of editing glitches that really do the book a disservice (including a couple of instances that look like an incomplete or inadvertent delete or cut and paste); it could do with one more close editing pass. Other than those glitches, the book is well-written. ETA: The author reports that the glitches have been fixed.

Recommended if you want to read an entertaining, engaging epic fantasy adventure with lots of magic and a good dose of romance.

This is a really interesting tale. It's outside my normal genre for reading, but I totally found myself lost in the fantasy world Warren created. The description is detailed and he builds a beautiful world full of adventure and action. It started off a little slowly for me, but eventually it picked up and I didn't want to put it down until the end. It was definitely an epic fantasy!

What an epic fantasy story to lose yourself in! The story grew and pulled you in as in unfolded, so that by the end I could not put it down. The characters were wonderfully developed and I felt each loss as I read.
