It’s very rare to see that a short read can hold the world of knowledge. 6 secrets SMART students don’t tell you by Chandan Deshmukh, is one such book that proved to be a boon to my niece, who’s in 8th grade now. I can now see a drastic change in the study pattern of my niece.

Now, don’t go thinking that I haven’t read the book. Of course, I have. And now after reading it, how I wish, even we had such books that gave us a nudge in the right direction. So, let’s not dawdle talking more, and move onto the book review.

“The difference between ordinary and extraordinary is that little extra.”
“6 secrets SMART students don’t tell you” is a book that is cleverly built up around the idea of how a student can achieve more out of what they have and learn efficiently by strategizing the studying techniques like a pro. As every aspect of this book is divided into simple concepts that allow students to retain more information in a short time and achieve more.

What I liked so much about this book was the author Chandan’s straight to the point approach to address the problems, sometimes the students face, or I should say most of the times. One could clearly make out from his writing style that he does not believe in wasting words by repeating the same stuff in a thousand different ways. No. And that’s the beauty of this book. Driving the nail, straight to the heart. Okay, now don’t go thinking that it’s all serious and everything. No, not at all. One will find while reading the book, snippets of humour here and there.
This is a book for students and parents?

Oh yes, it is! I for sure can say that this book 6 secrets SMART students don’t tell you by Chandan Deshmukh, is a treasure house for both secondary grade students and their parents and even the teachers. And, we at Booxoul, highly recommend it. You can also gift it to someone who is a school student. It would be very helpful, particularly if they had their exams on his / her way. The book is not that long, merely 160 pages long written in a very simple language.

Chandan Deshmukh's book, 6 Secrets Smart Students Don't Tell You, answers all the questions that are always asked by students and parents alike: 'How to study better and have a successful academic career?', 'How to succeed and crack exams?' and many more.

This book is a compilation of many advices for students that are really helpful. The book describes each and every aspect of detail pointwise. There are diagrams and flowcharts for better understanding as well. It is quite relatable for students as it discusses the problems that they face. The book is based on extensive research by the author and the tips and tricks seem very useful. It is conversational, funny and quite insightful in nature.

The writing style is very simple with the use of lucid language, making this book an easy read. It is indeed a very useful self-help book. It took me a few hours to complete reading the entire book as it is quite a short read.

Overall, it was a good and interesting read. Students will definitely find this book helpful.

Six Secrets Smart Students Don’t Tell You is a book that is packed with some genius ideas to strategise, how to prepare better for exams, and learn efficiently in general. For most of us, studying means looking over the books a few days before exams, and hoping that somehow we’ll be able to put all of it down on paper. But this book breaks down some of the most effective theories on how to score better by improving your mind’s capacity to retain information.

It’s not a cheat sheet, no. The book is merely a guide, like a wise old student telling you about some techniques on how to study like a pro. Besides, we’re all aware how far ahead a little planning can put us in life, right?

Easy to understand, with a little humour spread throughout, this book is a must read for anyone looking to improve their studying techniques. Students, teachers, parents, I hope this comes in handy.

"6 Secrets Smart Students Don't Tell You" by Chandan Deshmukh is a self-help, nonfiction book which talks about the 6 secrets of scoring good marks and how to achieve that term of "being smart".

The book starts with explaining 3 types of students in the world. I absolutely loved the way author has compared Indian education system to Indian railways. Further it talks about breaking out of the comfort zone.

The author has further very beautifully and easily explained all the secrets with very relatable examples for school students to understand. There's also a goal sheet and weekly planner for students to write down in this book.

I learned a couple of new things. However, this could have been summed up in 30 pages or less.
It has
- Too many unnecessary jokes &
- Too many unnecessary stories
Additionally, it is only meant for an audience of Indian
 students.

The book begins on a good stringent note that there're 3 types of students in the world. I would say that there're many, but let us stick with the context for the time being. They're as follows:
1. The Excuse Makers
2. The Go-getters
3. The Cocktail
The differentiation comes straightaway from their attitude & not what theirs grades or their hierarchy.

The first category as the name suggests is a group comprising of students who make/give various excuses despite all the favourable conditions have been provided to them to succeed in life. They often have well-known, oriented, organised, crimmed & trimmed answers/excuses ready to be often presented when questioned regarding their failures. Hence, they're passive & show lackadaisical attitude towards everything!
The second category comprises of students who are hard-working, diligent, inquisitive, passionate, intelligent & have hunger for knowledge. They seek out challenges & combine them altogether to add them to their advantages using various techniques technologies like thinking, doing, learning unique skills, visualising. They just require proper guidance, evaluation & support for they've immense potential. Hence, they're very passionate towards everything they do no matter what obstacles or odds or challenges they may end up facing!
The final category comprises of people who live in marginal borderline between the first two. They exhibit wide range of skills & are very essential towards the contribution of the growth & development of the society!

This book teaches us a very important aspect of life that is every student no matter what class or potential they may uphold - they all begin at the same starting level or point. It's the underlying effort which they put in their work which determines what position they may reach towards the end of the year aka finishing line. The novel is very much realistic & it aims to bring ease of convenience into every student's life & efforts in tackling their curriculum, enabling them to get better grades!

I have been getting back into taking classes and noticed that my studying habits were lacking. To that end, I got an electronic copy of Six Secrets Smart Students Don’t Tell You. Chandan jumped right into the methods of crafting an excellent towards being a serious student. I liked that he broke down every aspect down into simple concepts with clear achievable goals. I also liked that there was an overall realistic plan that normal students could indeed achieve quick results. There was a clear direction to what is necessary and what isn’t with some great examples. It reminded me of the book, The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People in its approach. I also liked that Chandan took some tips from my favorite self-help book How to Win Friends & Influence People. He surprised me by sneaking in a great quote, Life sucks, 100 times more than the tentacles of an octopus. That made me laugh. Clearly, Chandan has an excellent sense of humor. Overall, this is an excellent read and I have recommended it to several friends in my classes.

The book is a very honest attempt to answer these questions in a very simple and a reader friendly language. The book is a result of the author's extensive research to make best advice and tricks available to such students with a pinch of humour. There are various goal tables and questions which are answered which makes it easily accessible to sort out and write down their goals and visions.

“Vision without action is daydreaming. Action without vision is a nightmare.”

This is a book which you can gift to school students. It would prove to be very helpful to get their priorities right especially if he/she has their board exam on their way. The book is only 160 pages long written in a very simple language perfect for young readers.

▶This book is basically a self help book for students who are trying to perform well but due to some procastination and lethargic attitude instilled in their lifestyles they can't. ▶The book is divided into six chapters each discussing a different secret to make the whole process of learning easy and productive .
▶Each chapter opens with a wonderful quote and has a lot of flowcharts and examples for easy understanding.
▶Overall , a nice insightful read to understand the tips and tricks necessary for effective studying and learning.

A book I'd recommend to kids studying in school! Weekly goal settings, some tricks and a whole lot of tips that would definitely help is all that the book is about.

The writing style of the author is commendable. There is genuineness in his writing & it felt a lot like he speaks from experience.

Follow the tips, goal settings & I'm pretty sure that this book will help you. It's a decent book with simple language that any student can easily understand.

In my opinion, this book is written extremely well. It can be life changing, if a person decides to follow 80% of the tricks, tips, lessons and advices. This books "actually" hold everything that I would have ever wanted to know from students who score really well in classes. I would highly recommend for anyone who is struggling to study, studies but does not see anticipated results or needs a good read to gain more knowledge.

" No Secrets Here, Trust Me"

Although Chandan is very honest in his writing, this book fails to provide any "Practical Secrets" rather than giving the same old bs of work smart and not hard. This book feels like a fail attempt to look clever and attract readers. it feels like an unpolished version of some teenager's dairy on how he had done it. Thank god the book is short.

Nice but expected more.

Good book. Has some smart tips to help in making notes and is quite motivational but doesnt explain anything about raw talent and will power. Overall is a good read for those looking to score better in life. A good self help book.

“If a 5 day vacation requires 6 months of planning, isn’t a solid blueprint necessary for 16 years of studies?”

Chandan Deshmukh, a Bangalore based Engineer, did the unexpected. While he was in school, he studied smart students and tried to grasp their secrets behind their flying marks in exams, which he reveals in his book ‘Six Secrets Smart Students Don’t Tell You’.

Now, let’s not pretend that we love reading non fictions. Atleast I don’t. Like come’on, don’t you think non fictions, and especially self-help books are boring? Hah! This book is going to change your views about self help books. Not only is this book helpful for students, but will also make you LAUGH OUT LOUD!

Let me start with how Mr. Deshmukh compared our Indian Education System with Indian Railways:

A) People sleep on berths, students on desks

B) Railway tracks are fixed, studying tracks are fixed

C) Bogies are laid back to back, classes are conducted back to back

Oh there are more but let’s leave it here. You got the point right? It’s hilarious how he pointed out the similarities between the two. There are many such instances in the book which are relatable af and hysterically funny. I am pretty sure we all had such teachers in school who used to talk like-

“whhyy are you laafing? Tell me also no. I also want to laaf. Whyy do you camm to school if you don’t like studies? I yam taaking to you vonly. Whyy are you looking baack an all haan?”

Does it remind you of a teacher? Is her voice ringing in your ears right now? Does it also remind you of those horrible PTM’s? Then buddy, we are on the same boat and you need this book as much as I needed it. It took one such horrible PTM that prompted the author to explore the terrain of smart studying and he realised that studying brilliant students is the key rather than mugging up an entire textbook.

So he collected six such secrets from six brilliant students and penned it down brilliantly in his book. If you are still a student, this is your next buy. If you are a parent, this is your next buy for your child. I loved how the author narrated his story along with the secrets and rules to be followed. The language is easy, the pace is good and very much interesting for a non fiction book. There are worksheets and examples added in the book too, which will make it easier for you to understand and put it into play. Without a doubt, give it a read. I am sure it’s going to be one such self help book that you will be recommending to everyone.

This book was the bestseller when it was released (I personally recommended to many of my friends and juniors). However, in these days, the information in the book is highly redundant when you buy the book and read the same words you can find on the internet with a single google search. This was a must-read book for students during 2014-2017 era.

Overall, I really liked the I loved the book. My favorite technique and takeaway are not the environment you study in and the 2-chair technique. I am going to definitely employ them in 2018. I can’t recommend the book enough — whether or not you are a star student.

I wrote a review here too https://www.vikramadhiman.com/six-sec...

Meh. You can get similar (or better) study tips from articles on Google. I am still giving it 2 stars since it has certain good parts, like the Priority Matrix, and tips for confident public speaking.

A good, easy to read book.

Bought this book because I was intrigued by the title. Although my college days are long over, found that many of the points in this book can still be used in this knowledge worker economy, where everyone is expected to keep themselves up to date.
