No need to wait for the next book!** Over a dozen years have passed since a massive storm devastated Whitmire, South Carolina. Settling in the town of Kingman, Kansas, our survivors press on, creating a community where people can live and thrive. Of course, there are unique defenses as one might expect. Max Chatsworth and Isis Gammon are Hybrids; special beings borne of the apocalypse who have recognized a building threat. Somewhere to the northwest of Kingman, a horde of the walking dead awaits, and despite their efforts, the creatures resist the far-reaching summons of the Hybrids. To do nothing could ultimately result in an onslaught so brutal and overpowering that nobody in Kingman would survive. If the Mothers and Hungerers will not come to Kingman, Max and Isis must make the harrowing journey northwest to seek them out and destroy them where they stand.

The Scabs Trilogy in my rearview mirror, and Dead Hunger long finished, I introduce Emma's Rose: The Cave! It's my new ZOMBIE series.

It has been a while since I delved into the zombie world. I really enjoyed writing the Scabs Series, but something was pulling me . Perhaps they were dead arms, peeling and gray, reaching for flesh. My flesh.

As usual my stories are character driven. Emma's Rose is no exception. I hope you enjoy the whole new cast of characters, and the new adventure, along with the new zombies.

A HUGE thanks to all of you who have read any of my work.

Now ... about me.

Eric A. Shelman was born in 1960 in Fort Worth, Texas. He now lives in Cape Coral, Florida with his wife of thirty years, Linda.

Life is good. But it takes hard work.

Pretty dammed gripping from start to finish, this book have moved about 15 years from the end of 6, providing the opportunity to meet older versions of the characters we know and love, alongside the new generation of bad as zombie killers they have raised. Contains all the elements you expect from this series, clever plot lines, unexpected twists, kickass women and tonnes of humour. Each book I read Flex, Gem and Co become more like people I wish I was friends with.

Awesome!

Awesome!

Okay, to me, this story out does the others. I think partly because the author has done such a great job developing the characters in previous books so the reader tends to identify more with them as real people. So, to really get the best out of this book, I highly recommend starting on the first book of the series. Like the other books, I think his stories stand out as a result of the cause of the infliction that causes the zombies and super humans. That takes allot of imagination to find something original in an otherwise crowded field of zombie stories. My only disappointment is that I must wait till 2015 for the next book. But that is definitely worth the wait. I wonder if this author has thought of expanding his story telling to other interests such as sci-fi? I bet he would rock!

Outstanding

Once again Eric A Shelman delivers. The seventh book in his Dead Hunger series is one of his best works. His character creation is so phenomenal I wanted to jump into the book to be with them. Over the course of this series his characters have become family. It's not about the zombies. I don't like zombies. I started this series because I had read other non-zombie books by this author and have really enjoyed his writing style. Keep them coming, Eric A Shelman. I will be waiting!

Awesome zombie apocalypse series

And awesome zombie apocalypse series. A great cast of characters in an action-packed thrill ride through the apocalypse. This was the seventh book in this series. As in all zombie apocalypse are use the enemy is zombies. Yet at some point there will always be a human element that is worse than the zombies. This series is a unique twist on zombies as they evolve and have a couple variations. All the characters are well thought out and you become emotionally attached to them. As in every apocalypse not everyone will survive. Some that you like will die son that you hate will die and some of both will live. Entertaining and well worth reading. Check it out

Oh wow!

This installment of the Dead Hunger series is super exciting! The biggest danger this time comes not from the dead but from the living. A psychopath is engaged in wholesale slaughter and it up to our friends to stop him.

This review is from: Dead Hunger VII: The Reign Of Isis (Kindle Edition)

CAUTION SOME POSSIBLE SPOILERS: The year is 2027 and our fab foursome are older, wiser and perhaps deadlier than ever having survived the last fifteen years. But this is not their story. This one belongs to Isis, Dave Gammon's cousin(see DH Road to California) and daughter of Brett Ulrich Gammon. Isis is a hybrid having been exposed to the red vapor of the Mothers several months before being born. She has accelerated growth and is twice her chronological age, very tall and very beautiful. Max, Charlie and Hemps son is also a hybrid having been exposed to the red vapors moments before his birth and is also growing far faster than a human child. They both share a strong mental connection to the Mothers and can control them although not the Hungerers. That is done through the Mothers. It is also the reason they have managed to keep their new community, Kingman, Kansas, safe behind a wall around the town. They now have running water and electricity albeit for short periods of time. Life is good in Kingman thanks to Hemp who has constructed a great gadget to rid them of any invading horde. But Isis knows that if the human population is to survive there must be more of them, them being Hybrids, to help stem the over 270 million infected still wondering the country. Before her plan can be implemented a bigger problem has arisen, if that is possible, Isis and Max can no longer control the Mothers who are somehow resisting their call. This is not good because while they can sense them something is interfering with their siren call. Believing they must leave to learn why the Mothers are resisting the set out with Trina and Taylor, who have grown into formidable young women, to learn why. If the Mothers can resist their call then the possibility they have evolved is very real. But what they find is far more sinister, more deadly than anything they or anyone else have faced since the outbreak. It is Evil, a complete absence of light and compassion, darkness to its very core. Here Eric Shelman weaves a tale that takes us through a savage and deadly world ironically filled with love, affection, compassion and friendship even in the face of great loss, to one that shows the cause and effect of cruelty, hatred and disregard for the human condition and what it does to the soul. Evil in the name Maestro has arrived; a psychotic misogynist devastating everything in his path. With him are more Hybrids completely under his control and an army of Mothers and Hungerers. Isis and Max knows he must be stopped but are their growing abilities enough to stop them and Maestro? The fate of humanity rides on them as the final battle culminates at the gates of Kingman! Get ready to cry, to rage at the injustice of it all, to feel their pain, their loss and loose yourself in the story and fight alongside our Fab Four, Trina and Taylor, Dave and our beloved Nelson with Isis and Max leading the way. It is a rollercoaster ride of emotion that will drain you until you get to that 'awkward moment when you know this is just the beginning'. Bravo Mr. Shelman on the best story yet of the DH series.

YOU HIT EVERY NOTE JUST RIGHT!

I've only been begging for this book to be written. I've only written it myself in my head a hundred times or so. I never even came close to the spectacular job Eric Shelman has done. Every time I read a book in this series, it's like coming home again. Even though there are zombies and crazy people trying to kill you, the world of Dead Hunger is a wonderful place to be.

I love the fact the novel is set at least a decade after the last novel, giving all the characters, especially Isis and Max time to grow up and hone their skills. The crew has been able to create a community setting, enjoying a long period of relative safety. It serves as the perfect juxtaposition for the threat and battle that comes their way.

There's also the sense the original characters -- Gem, Flex, and the like -- are getting old enough that they're looking to the next generation to carry some of the weight in the war for their survival. Not that they're willing to hang up their rifles and throwing stars yet! They still have all the skills and moves we've come to know and love, but now we can see their kids' talents as well.

I never expected many of the twists and turns Shelman takes in this novel, and the plot as a whole was completely unexpected in an extremely pleasant way. This is definitely another crowning addition to the series. (**Rubs hands**) I can't wait to see what Eric's planning next!

Well~ just Damn...I am sad I finished. I miss my "friends"....What a ride., July 22, 2014~
Well...I am truly impressed with this story line. I was captivated, curious and literally sucked in from the first book. I had the upper hand as I was able to read them back to back, which in my opinion really helps. The characters are so like-able and I could see myself wanting to "hang" with these people. They were not over the top, instead they were just regular people with some exceptions, that wanted more than anything to survive, prosper, and rebuild. I have to give major props to the Author, as every single question I had pop in my mind while reading, was answered within the next few chapters.(except one which is no big deal).I was extremely intrigued with the story of Max and Isis and remember thinking in the beginning what would happen if they were to have children..Well even THAT question was answered in a round about way with another story-line! The twists and turns, the action, the emotions, and the situations were very realistic and sometimes hauntingly real, and I had a movie in my head. THAT is what I look for in a book. Mr. Shelman brought his A game to this book and it showed. Big Congrats and really hope that the Dead Hunger series is able to keep going. Great, great series!!

Eric works his magic once again, even after six books he surprises and delights with new unforeseen horrors even more macabre than any reader has the right to expect.

This book leaps forward in time and finds the core of the group have not only survived but have thrived with new additions, both born and found.

Their safety is once again in jeopardy but from a direction no-one could have imagined or defended against - even Hemp our intrepid sexy scientist.
Who can tell if they can survive this new challenge, even with the combined knowledge and kick assery they are all getting - to old for this s**t!
There I said it :-)
If you have read the rest of the series you will love this, if you haven't read them you could start here but it would be a serious shame to deny yourself the wonderful experience of submersion into this incredibly funny, passionate, scary world of Flex, Gem, Charlie and Hemp, Dave and Serena, oh the wonderful Nelson and many, many more.

Gone on, read and enjoy - you know you deserve it :-)

There really isn't enough hours in a day to accomplish all I need to do, but I always make time to read. I discovered Eric Shelman and his first Dead Hunger book quite by accident and was hooked immediately! Reign of Isis was the best by far. It made me laugh, it made me sob, but most of all it made me want more. His characters all have personalities every one of us can relate to. We all know a Flex or a Gem or even a Hemp for that matter and it makes reading about them so much more intriguing. Read these books I promise you won't be disappointed!!! Need another ASAP Mr Shelman!!

Wow, just wow. That is all I can say about this installment of the series. It's been a long time since I can remember running the gauntlet of emotions that this book put me through. Anger, joy, sadness, laughter, it was all there. These characters have become so much more than just characters in a book. They've become people that you genuinely care about, Mr. Shelman, that sir, isn't something that happens very often, at least not for me. Kudos to you. If you haven't read the other books in the series, I recommend you go back from the start and read from book one. You won't be disappointed.
