Dare Montgomery is the biggest star in Hollywood. Painfully gorgeous, badass wild and fabulously rich, he has women lining up at his hotel rooms and movie sets, offering him a free ride. A consummate practitioner of casual sex, he has no use for women who write poems and songs in his honor, especially the ones who are dying to make an honest man out of him. Some tried but failed miserably. The rags say he is hard to the core and no woman can change or tame him. EVER.
But Celine believes otherwise. She's Dare's self-proclaimed No. 1 fan in the world since grade school. He is her prince charming, knight in shining armor and soul mate rolled into one. Now Dare is not exactly the epitome of chivalry, and definitely not the right role model for idealistic young women like Celine but she refuses to believe what those tabloids are saying about him. She has met him once, when she was still a little girl and he was just a teenager and they shared one unforgettable moment together, a moment so special that Celine is absolutely convinced that she and Dare are meant for each other. She is REALLY the right woman for him and all those starlets and supermodels are just temporary diversions until her second coming into his life. Proof? He is now thrice married and thrice divorced. Yes, Dare is just waiting for her. They are destined to live happily ever after.
When an idealistic, virgin heiress meets a cynical man who regards sex as commonplace over-the-counter muscle relaxant, not only will spark fly like the fourth of July. The meaning of true love will be redefined and the power of destiny will be tested.
Eve Montelibano is an Interior Designer and a hopeless romantic. That said, she couldn't be blamed for the amount of cheese and cream you'll find in her books. She loves to write about jaded, super alpha heroes and spunky, sassy heroines.and enjoys putting them in a lot of sticky, steamy, sweaty situations. Definitely not for the fainthearted.
Her favorite authors are Jackie Collins (modern fiction) and Robert Greene (Philosophy). Her major influences in romance writing are Brenda Joyce, Linda Howard, Sandra Brown, Judith McNaught, Susan Johnson, Penelope Williamson, to name a few.
So yeah...no. Don't bother if proper use of the English language is a requirement. If you don't mind horrible grammar, no editing and a ton of mistakes then go for it. Otherwise steer clear.
And before you haters attack- yes I realize the author is not American nor a native English speaker. That being said- it's no excuse for crap like this. If I were to write a book in a foreign language you can damn well bet that I will seek out someone from that country to help me with all of then little language nuances and translations and whatnot. I wouldn't just assume that my rudimentary knowledge would be enough to produce a high quality manuscript. I definitely wouldn't want to publish a book AND ask people to pay for it in that foreign country until I know for damn sure it's perfect. This- this was no where near perfect.
In the future I'd suggest that author seek out and hire an American editor if you're writing in English and about places in the States. If the so-called editor for this book IS American- well then Ms Author- you got ripped off. Sorry.
I was so fascinated on how it was written with so much contrast between the two main characters. It was like the sunset and sunrise, the junction of night and day. For me, the real beauty of this story was the clashing of perspectives, the dog fight between idealism and cynism. It is an awesome story of sugar and spice, bitter and sweet that was perfectly blended. Job well done EM, as always. And with this book fully written in English? I must say, Dare is home, really HOME! (no offense meant to the taglish version. I just thought that this story, considering all the material that has been used, is better suited with the English language.
Can't wait for the next book I couldn't put it down. The characters are rich and the story really funny in places I can't wait to read more of Eve Montelibano's work this book was addicting.
Sypnosis
Celine is madly in love with Hollywood megastar, the painfully gorgeous Dare Montgomery. She is his self-proclaimed No. 1 fan in the world since grade school. He is her prince charming, knight in shining armor and soul mate rolled into one. In her dreams, at least. Now Dare is not exactly the epitome of chivalry, and definitely not the right role model for young, idealistic women like Celine. He is a jaded-to-the bone product of dog-eat-dog Hollywood, a consummate practitioner of casual sex. He has no use for women who write poems and songs in his honor, especially the ones who are dying to make an honest man out of him. Some tried but failed miserably. He is hard to the core and no woman can change or tame him.
But Celine believes otherwise. She has met Dare once, when she was still a little girl and he was just a teenager and they shared one unforgettable moment together, a moment so special that Celine is absolutely convinced that she and Dare are meant for each other. She is the right woman for him and all those starlets and supermodels are just temporary diversions until her second coming into his life. Proof? He is now thrice married and thrice divorced. Dare is waiting for her. She is his one true destiny.
You think she’s crazy? Think again. Never underestimate the power of naïve delusions. It makes people do the things they don’t normally do. Even the impossible. And in these moments of impossibility, magic happens.
My Review
Okay so this is my first Eve Montelibano review and I don’t wanna screw this up. I am such a BIG fan. I totally own every book she wrote like really!
Three words:
AMIABLE.
BADASS.
WORDSMITH.
Who wouldn't love her? The Uuuhhs, the aahhs, and the oohhhs.
She introduced my innocent mind to smuts,
and I…
I embraced her way of writing…
And…
Became addicted…
And…
Constantly wetting my pants… Kidding!
So Megastar is basically Dare to Love also written by Miss Eve but the enhanced edition.
IT IS WRITTEN IN FULL ENGLISH—BY A FILIPINA.
Take that!
Makes me wanna sing the Philippine National anthem over and over again! I am so looking forward for Drew’s story though but hey, DARE is my BOYFRIEND TOO! So lemme start my PLEASE-LET-ME-NOT-WRITE-A-SPOILER review.
Megastar did it to me again. I was emotionally invested in the characters and as the story progress my heart recalls the reasons why I really fell in love with Dare. The first few pages will introduce you to the characters and their natures. Their past lives, what they've become, what they plan to do. It was all laid on the table.
Celine Lavega.
She fancied Dare from the first and last moment she met him. She made him her motivation to become a successful, well-educated person. Far from the Celine that Dare once taught how to fly. Far from the scared little girl that Dare met in Coney Island. She’s not scared anymore and she’s going to get what she thought she deserve, what she aimed for…
Dare Montgomery.
The All-American look, the I-CAN-FUCK-THE-SHIT-OUT-OF-YOU arrive and the NO-I’M-NOT-CHRISTIAN—FUCKING-GREY-BUT-I-CAN-PUT-YOUR-BED-IN-FIRE personality. YES. That’s –eherm- my Dare. He does not believe in love ever after. He was twice divorced and third in the works. His aphorism when it comes to women is: “I’m all open all season but closed on special occasions.” No anniversaries and that entire Hallmark crap.
What I loved most about the characters was not only their individual characteristics but the moments and the relationship they form between each other, connections that relates each character. What can I say? Miss Eve’s works talks the talk and walks the walk.
There wasn't a bunch of profound tragedy that would make you sob in anguish. I thought the plot was great, the phasing of the book was well-done, the little moments that these characters have, this book was full of ‘em and I appreciated all the understated, subtle moment we may take advantage of. There were obsession, hope, guilt, love, and witty funny lines. Romantic comedy junkies will enjoy this book overall.
Yeah, I looked like this.
At the beginning of every chapter you will find one of the letters Celine sent to Dare. You should take notes of those for the realization part. I was a taken off guard about the end (of the first book of the trilogy) because I thought I had more 10 or 5 more pages to go but it kinda ended abruptly for me. You know what they say when you read a good book; it makes you wanna wish it wouldn't end.
I DARE to fall in love again with the story and the characters.
And I can’t wait for the two thirds of the story to come out. One thing I’m sure of…
I WILL BE WAITING.
AND I AM SO READING DARE TO LOVE AGAIN! RIGHT.NOW!

3.5 starts. So this is my first read by this author. I enjoyed this story but for me it took a while to get in to it. This being said one this happened I couldn't read quick enough. So let's meet celine. Dares largest fan. She and him shared a short time riding the cyclone many years ago. And since she has been hooked on all things dare. Dare is Hollywoods leading man in the box office and ever girl/ woman wants a piece of him, who wouldn't right? But dare is far from a romantic and relationships aren't his thing(yes he's had many but well they just don't quite workout) This being said celine is sure she could Change this if only she could just get close enough to him. This Leeds Celine to Hollywood. Working a rubbish job she doesn't need all in the hopes of finally meeting again with her beloved idol. Will celine and dare cross paths again? And If this happens would he be all she's always hoped of? As I said I enjoyed this tale and I'm now hoping off to delve in to book two. :) What will happen next? Review for book two to come soon

I found this book slow to get going and struggled to get into it and almost given up reading. I'm glad I carried on reading as I did enjoy it. Its not your typical romance. There is loads of laugh out loud moments, some cringe worthy moments, sassy moments and a steamy encounter. Looking forward to reading more of her work
Truly a fairy tale! I really did enjoy this trilogy because it is a love story that some of us dream of, it just almost never happens. These stories though make you want to believe in that 1% chance it may happen.
