Coffee Black is a beautiful, successful woman who owns the well-known event planning business, Plan on Me. After the wedding of one of her most lucrative clients, Coffee returns home only to find Benny, her boyfriend of almost three years, has packed his bags, and after a very brief, blink and you missed it conversation, moved out to live with his future wife. Shattered, Coffee decides to leave all things 'Benny' behind, including the apartment they shared. She meets realtor, Gordon Langsterfield, and finds out how deep her need for something new, different and insatiable really is. Has she finally found the one?
Gordon Langsterfield is a highly sought after realtor with an A-List client roster. Women love Gordon’s muscular build, devilishly good looks, and charisma. Gordon, formerly obese, is still learning to love himself, seeking comfort in the arms of any woman willing. When Gordon meets Coffee he decides he could finally be monogamous.
Although the love and betrayal Coffee feels for Benny still lingers in her heart, she begins a new journey in life with Gordon. Along the way, her ideas of love, friendship and family are all shattered by secrets and lies that ultimately lead to her complete devastation. Will her love for Gordon conquer all?
APB Perspective book review: The plot of this book is Coffee Black finding true love, and it started out looking like that would happen. I was happy when Coffee met Gordon and the romance began. I knew there would be trouble in the relationship , but what happened was more than I can ever expect, this story was unbelievable. I kept reading to see what would happen next, I am not sure I enjoyed the journey the story took me on. I think all of the characters are flawed for one reason or another, but you don't understand why until you are so mad you want to throw your kindle down. I kept asking myself why would Coffee want to be friends with Sonia and Gordon? So many things happen and you want to know why they are happening and you will get your answers in book two. This book really made me angry because I felt like Coffee continued to make the same mistake over and over again and the reasons the author gave did not work for me.I think the best part of this book was when Gordon and Coffee were together in the beginning but after their relationship ended so did my enjoyment of the story. This book is part of a series where you either want to read the books to see how the story progresses or you have to read to see what happens next . I think I figured out what went wrong, things started to happen before we were given a chance to understand this character, to feel for her , to know why she made the decisions she made. If we knew her we would understand why .
I liked the book Coffee Black. I am really not a fan of books written in first person but I enjoyed Astrid's writing. I don't believe in spoilers so I won't give away the plot. I do recommend this story. It is not your typical romance. Coffee's relationships with the other character's in the story were complicated. Who hasn't had the best friend, who thought that they were so much better than you? And was secretly going after your man? Love can make you do crazy things and put up with things you would not normally allow. I can't wait to see how this story ends
Captivating book from page one. Coffee is an amazing character easy to love and be frustrated with at same time. All of the characters were well written and you can almost see them like a movie playing out in your imagination. Great cliffhanger leaving us panting for more. Can not wait to see how Coffee, Alice, her "Mother" play everything out.
Sexy and Dramatic! I had the privilege (and honor) to read an advance copy of this book. I couldn't wait for the book to publish so I could leave this review. Coffee Black is one of those stories that entertain but is deeply rooted in the real world, real experiences, real struggles.
Spoken from the voice of the protagonist, Coffee Black, we get an inside tract to her thoughts and decision-making process. At times, you'll want to scream and throw your book across the room because Coffee will infuriate you, then other times, you'll want your Kleenex beside you to dab the tears. And be prepared to laugh because there are some parts that I found quite funny too.
Having experienced a range of emotions while reading this gem of a book, I cannot wait for the follow-up... THERE HAS TO BE ONE! I highly recommend this book. It is sexy, funny, infuriating and completely engrossing.
I couldn't believe the ignorance of the lead character. Prime example of a woman needing a man no matter what and the hood rat of a best friend. Let's just say my blood pressure rose to where I had to read something else because of the stupidity of all the characters then go back to finish it.
It was a struggle to read the story as I could not relate to Coffee. Ms. Azure's comments at the end made me open my mind a little and I felt a little better about it. I just hated that she didn't have a better sense of self-worth.
