At the age of nineteen Faith Walker dreams of love and adventure, not just a marriage for the sake of security.Thing is her parents feel that security is just what she needs, and finds an available suitor for her, someone they want her to marry. Unbeknownst to her parents she answers an ad for a mail order bride in Oklahoma. When the letter from Oklahoma arrives with a train ticket inside she shares the news with her parents and her father disowns her. She heads west to start her life with Roy Heatley the man who placed the ad, but when she arrives things aren't as she hoped. Will Faith find the love she longs for with Roy?

My favorite genre to read is historical mail order bride sagas and Faith certainly fit the bill! Ms. Cyr pens a wonderful story that was rich with detail, but more than that provided a cast of characters that I really cared about. I thought Faith's decision was the right one, and while I feared that the story might be a bit predictable once she made the decision to head west, instead what I found was far from predictable. Faith didn't just get her happily ever after, she had to work for it because Roy didn't seem ready to embrace the future instead he was mourning the past. The secondary characters kept the plot moving along, I fell in love with Minnie immediately, and the ladies who greeted Faith at the train station were quite interesting! I really enjoyed the way the author incorporated a christian theme into the story, making for a clean read. If you enjoy reading mail order bride adventures Faith is a must read! Even though there are only 124 pages the author provides a full length story that was rich in detail that allowed me to follow along with Faith as she takes her journey west looking for love and adventure.I am anxious to read the next book in the Westward Brides series!

Faith ~ Western Brides ~ Book 1 started with Faith Walker wanting an adventure instead of the steady but boring marriage planned by her parents. She found adventure starting with a train robbery on her way to Oklahoma to marry an unknown man.

Roy Heatley is a widower and forgot to mention he had a young daughter, Minnie. Faith also finds he is still in mourning his first wife and she needs to work hard to change her new family and the story gives the first step and jumps to the end. It is missing part of the story and underdeveloped. Roy's character is undeveloped and needs to show more emotion and why he is the way he is to make this a good romance.

Yes, this was a clean read but I didn't enjoy it. Faith, who was appalled when her parents encouraged a stranger to court their daughter, decides that going west to marry a complete stranger is a good idea. Because if she can't have love, she wants adventure. I could not get behind this motivation.

Faith

This was a clean story. The character's were interesting and the story line was good. I will read more of her books.
