A sexy, swoony romance from NY Times and USA Today bestselling author Jessie Evans.

Cowboy bikers, fireworks, and romance, oh my...

Wild girl, Mia Sherman, has a secret--she isn't as fearless as she pretends. Descended from Lonesome Point, Texas's founding family, Mia grew up hearing tales of an old Irish curse that had followed the Shermans to America. At age twenty-four, Mia is still terrified of the stories, because they aren't stories. They are a warning about what will happen if Mia allows love and romance into her life. The curse struck Mia's grandmother and her great-great-whatever grandmother, and Mia knows she could be next. The first-born daughter of every generation is cursed to lose her husband on her wedding night, which is one of the many reasons Mia has sworn off relationships.

Until the fateful day Sawyer Kane rides his Harley into her life ...

Rancher turned restoration expert, Sawyer Kane, can't believe his luck when the feisty owner of the lingerie shop next to his hotel turns out to be the curator of his latest project, a ghost town he's been sent to restore. He's looking forward to long, hot days talking history, and hotter nights with Mia, but the redhead with the killer smile seems determined to keep him at a friendly distance. But when a dangerous man from Mia's past arrives in town, Sawyer finds himself drawn into her inner circle, and into the legend of Lonesome Point itself.

Can true love conquer all, even a centuries-old curse? Mia and Sawyer may be the first to find out.

3.5 Love from the Past and Into the Future Stars
* * * 1/2 Spoiler Free- Delightful, It's FREE!!!
I started to read this series from the middle. I read Saddles and Sins first and then Diamonds and Dust next... not realizing this book, Leather and Lace was the first one. As a credit to Ms. Evans, it didn't matter because the warmth and feel of these books held up no matter which way you read them.

In this book, there is a troubled woman who was raised to be strong, independent and sure of herself always. She had the internal wherewithal to make her decisions and not be one of the crowd.

Unfortunately, while going to graduate school in Los Angeles, she fell hard for a man who made her feel as if she was the center of the universe. He also systematically stripped her of her friends, family and anyone who she interacted with... His jealousy and obsession finally went to physical violence snapping her out of the hold he had. She got away only to have him come after her again... She lived through it...is back at home but hasn't healed.

She has decided...no men ever.

Spencer comes to town to bid on the restoration of the ghost town. His uncle's company has been the premiere group to do this sort of thing. He is here to bid and hopefully make it happen. He has his own relationship issues with a crazed ex... he is just looking for some breathing room.

They both meet under very unique circumstances... and, of course, sparks fly. The question is can these two have a little fling... a taste of fun and just let it go... it would be good for both of them.

There are other characters introduced and we meet them all... their stories do take place in the other books... In this one, there is chemistry, very hot banter and happenings, a ghost town, curses and HEA.

I have to say I have enjoyed this series and Evans knows how to do the hunky Cowboy thing perfectly... and to add the cherry on the sundae... Every Single Cover is amazing!

I am happy to say this book is Free on Amazon right now and there are more coming be sides the two I mentioned... there are 3 or 4 more!

This book is set in Lonesome Point, Texas - and I never want to leave! The cover pulled me in with 'cowboy' but I got so much more!

Mia meets Sawyer while pulling off a hilarious prank with her friends which sets the tone for this sexy and fun read. I love how they are both real people dealing with life as it is thrown at you. Add in a ghost town - with real ghosts, a family curse, as well as some real danger, and that adds up to this 5-star read.

Funny, heartwarming and sexy, I stalk the shelves for these cowboys. Leather and Lace is one of my "curl up with a good book on a rainy day" picks. I can't wait for the next story! ~ Diane, 5 stars

Lord, take me to Lonesome Point, Texas and leave me there! Leave me with Sawyer and Bubba, and what I can only hope will turn out to be a cast of swoonworthy cowboys...a whole series worth, in fact.

Mia Sherman is cursed. By an actual curse, one that threatens to take her husband on their wedding night, and by her past. She's sworn off relationships altogether, because it's better to be alone than get hurt again. And she's doing just fine until Sawyer Kane comes to town.

As the restoration expert quoting on helping rebuild the Lonesome Point ghost town, Sawyer isn't there forever, but he's there long enough to awaken Mia's desire. Long enough to plan the seduction of the lingerie shop owner. Long enough to want to rescue her when her past comes back to haunt her.

Will he conquer the ghosts of her past and the curse that threatens to end them before they begin?

Captivated <<-- that's the best word to describe how I felt about this book. I started it wondering how a book about a curse and a ghost town would play out and I finished ready to dive immediately into the second book. Which, incidentally, I'm going to...

I loved Sawyer and Mia. They were fire together; their romance was quick but believable, their love was all I wanted and their sexy times...I couldn't get enough!

I loved the slightly left-of-center story surrounding the ghost town and the curse. It added a playful and mysterious element to the story and set it apart from other small town cowboy reads. And based on my desire to jump straight into Saddles and Sin, it certainly left me wanting MORE from this series. And now, I'm off to get it! ~ Beth, 4.5 stars

I really enjoyed this book. The first chapter was fun, with Mia, and her friends having a little innocent fun pulling pranks in a small town. I didn't think by the first chapter that this book would have any depth. I was wrong. This book had a lot going on within the plot. The details were pinned vividly, allowing me to see the story play out in my imagination as I read.

The plot included a romance between Mia, and Sawyer. I love the way the two met. Mia's family had a curse. The story goes into detail later in the book about Mia being stalked then attacked by her ex. The book will have you asking yourself if you believe in ghost? Like I said a lot goes on in this book, but I loved how the author tied everything together in the end. This book is part of a series, but I read it as a standalone. No cliffhangers had me needing to buy the next book to find out how the story ends. I hate it when books just leaves you hanging. This book had a Great ending. Loved the story from beginning to end.

I have read all of Jessie's books and she is amazing! I love the way she writes; it's so clean, fresh and witty. She makes small towns come to life and you feel like you are home. Mia lives in Lonesome Point and owns a lingerie shop and one night she literally runs into Sawyer. He's in town to bid on a construction job in the Old Ghost Town. Mia doesn't think she will see him again, but they keep running into each other. He's a smokin' hot, harley riding cowboy and she can't help but be attracted to him, but she's scared. They are both still getting over bad past relationships but they can't fight the attraction between them. This is a sweet, hot, funny and mysterious story! I was on the edge of my seat wanting to read faster to see how it was going to end. I can't wait for the next one!

He mounted the machine with an easy grace that made Mia's mouth go dry, and things low in her body envy the leather between his thighs.

He'd forgotten that simply the feel of soft curves pressed to his chest and a woman's mouth, warm and alive against his own, could make him ache like he'd been on the receiving end of a ten-minute blow job.

"You really are enormous aren't you?"
Sawyer shrugged uncomfortably, hoping it wasn't his size that was making her anxious. "Been told that once or twice, but I'm harmless."

"I'd just rather be sober," he said, heat in his gaze. "If I'm lucky enough to get you out of those clothes, I want to remember every second of it."

Beautiful quirky small town romance.

After a couple of disappointing reads I decided to give this one a try and I'm glad I did it's a lovely sweet romance.
After being in an abusive relationship Mia is back home in Lonesome Point but it's not only her bad relationship which has put her off future entanglements you see her family is cursed the first-born daughter of every generation is cursed to lose her husband on her wedding night so Mia is single and she's staying single, well she is until she literally bumps into Sawyer Kane and now she's having doubts and who can blame her. Sawyer is not only tall and muscled but he's hot and seems like a genuine guy but can Mia overcome her doubts and give him a chance?
This is a beautiful romantic read full of interesting and quirky characters, I also liked the names some of the characters had like Mia's grandmother 'sugar britches' and 'ugly Ross' who's not ugly at all he's just uglier than the only other Ross in town.
The first chapter is wonderful and sets the book up nicely, it would be difficult to read this chapter and not continue on and read the rest of the book I would imagine or at least it was for me.
As far as I can see there's another 5 books and 1 novella in this series for me to slowly work my way through.

My first taste of Jessie Evan’s writing was with her Wild Rush series and I absolutely loved that story. I haven’t read any others but when I read the synopsis to this book I immediately put it on my TBR. I mean who doesn’t love cowboys and bikers. Never mind the guy is both a cowboy and a biker. This book was great. I really enjoyed learning about Mia and Sawyer. The story that started with a kiss.

Mia Sherman has been back in her hometown of Lonesome Point for a year. A year she has been trying to find the strong women she knows she is and put her life back together. She has sworn off any relationships with the opposite sex that are not strictly friendships. With her past and an all too real curse she just can’t risk it. Until she literally tackles a man and receives a kiss that makes her realize how lonely she might actually be.

Sawyer Kane has just left a relationship that was anything but great. Having his trust broken he takes the consult meeting in Lonesome Point, Texas. Running from his own horrible past has been the normal for Sawyer. Having seen the worst possible things happen to his family he isn’t looking to love anyone again. He wasn’t looking for any fun when he came to Texas until he was tackled by a women and got a kiss that he won’t forget for a while.

Neither Mia nor Sawyer are looking for anything long term. Mia needs to let go of her past and this man, who isn’t staying around could be the perfect way to do just that. Sawyer wants a “friend” to occupy the time that he is in Lonesome Point. What either failed to see is that their immediate connection will not let it stay as friends.

I loved learning about who these characters were. Jessie Evans has a way of building a character that makes them immediately interesting. Mia went through a bad experience but she didn’t let it ruin her finding the fun things in life. Mia is painted as the town’s trouble maker but there is so much more to her. She is caring, loveable, funny, strong, and stubborn. Sawyer has a depth to him that you don’t really get to see in his first POV chapter. He came off as someone who was a player and had to interest in love. But really he ended up being a man that had a very high moral compass, a man that was a huge softy, a man that was subconsciously looking for the one. I loved both of their characters and the other characters that we met in this series.

There were a few twists in this book that I thought made the story more than your regular romance story. I am not going to tell you what they are because you should find out for yourself. The pacing was done really well. I wasn’t bored and the book wasn’t filled with filler sex scenes. Overall I really enjoyed this book and will definitely be continuing with this series!!!

Mia is a strong, educated businesswoman with a horrible ex----so horrible he's in jail. Paul haunts Mia's nightmares, but he's back in LA and she's in Lonesome Point, Texas living near her family and friends. Mia's a bit of a prankster, and she topples into Sawyer mid-prank, very early one Saturday morning. Like 2:30am, after having far too many shots of whiskey.

Sawyer isn't looking for romance in Lonesome Point. He's there to bid on the restoration of the nearby ghost town, but he's more than happy to oblige the rambunctious redhead who stole his breath, okay knocked him breathless, in the street. Yeah, that Mia's got spirit. Or, was filled with spirit... In either case, he's intrigued enough to pursue her.

Mia turns Sawyer away for two reasons: she's still scared of intimacy after Paul's abusive ways, and she's sure the firstborn women of her family are cursed to lose their husbands on their wedding night. It seems a crazy curse, but Mia's granny swears by it. She should know--her hubby died that way, too.

It's a fun, but not long, pursuit. All of Mia's friends encourage her to leap--and Sawyer assures her everything will be casual. That's before he gets her between the sheets however. Then it's all Floodgates of the Past Confession Central and they spend a whole lotta time confiding in each other--excepting about Paul, he's a taboo topic. Well, he's taboo until he breaks parole.

Can Mia survive Paul's love? Can she give her heart to Sawyer, believing a curse might steal him away when they should be at their happiest?

It's a fun read with some interesting twists. I rather knew where the story was headed, but that's likely equal parts good foreshadowing and attentive audience. The V-card issue was, perhaps, unnecessary. Lots of talk of unwedded parenthood, with the culture-clash in tiny Lonesome Point teetering on the disapproving side. For me, it seemed "meh." I have no qualms about unwed parents. I do have trouble with deadbeat fathers--and this story seemed a bit littered with them.

I'm glad Mia found the courage to love. I'm not glad that she kicked Sawyer aside out of fear. Or that she takes too much on herself. Made her seem a touch, um, naive, for me. That said, this is breezy read with a cool setting, fun characters and well-written smexytimes. I enjoyed it.

I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for my honest review.

This one fell a little short for me. Not sure if its a 2.5 or genuinely just a 2 but it really felt like two separate books: The quirky rom-com with a prankster protagonist and the crime thriller vibe with hints of possible paranormal. There were some aspects I liked. I found the ghost town setting intriguing and probably would have loved it if the story was more about the restoration process. I thought this book would be more lighthearted than it was (which isn't actually an issue). Both protagonists had difficult pasts (his, however, feels a bit underexplored).

One thing that really stood out as a no-no for me was Beyond that, the initial steamy scene didn't quite sit well with me and the extension of it was pretty unbelievable.

I really could've done without knowing Mia's dad was really into hunting and needed to be talked out of going to Africa to hunt lions. I didn't find that a cute tidbit, I found it disturbing.

Content warning for toxic relationship, emotional abuse, physical abuse, stalking, PTSD, death of loved ones/murder.

I can not believe this book is free it is such a good romantic story. I am a historical romance girl and this one even though in a modern setting still hit all the right notes for me. Mia owns a lingerie shop in this small town in Texas and she comes from a family with a," family curse."

I put that in quotes because there is more to that story as you read but Mia also has battle scars from a rocky relationship with Paul (her obsessive ex). Sawyer is this 6'3" god who blows into town on his Harley to do business but in the process is found tackled by Mia one night. They get right down to business all right and then the romance begins to bloom. I found the story very intriguing as the two are open and honest with what each one wants. It wasn't a wham bam thank you ma am but it wasn't a promise of forever either.

What happens though was natural and fun to witness. Sawyer is just looking for a friend and a good time after he was hurt by his ex Heather. There are just so many unexpected things that happen at different points that it hold your interest and makes you want to read more. The ending was cute and original. These two characters will stay in my heart for some time. I think the saying ",Save a horse ride a cowboy," applies here.

If I had one compliant it would be that the H is bald, not by nature but by design as he says. While I agree there are men that are hot without hair like Vin Deisel, and Shemar Moore I just would have liked him better with hair. I mean you want something to hold onto right ladies? There are some hot sex scenes but it is well written throughout and not every sex scene is elaborated on. If you haven't got the book get it while it's free you won't regret it. I was really impressed and plan on checking out some other books from this talented author. Enjoy!

A solid start to a new series by Jessie Evans. We have a slightly naughty but fun Mia who is abstaining men after believing all her life of a family curse especially when her last relationship turned very sour.

We meet Sawyer who is in town on business....

"But whereas Bubba was built like a man who hustled up electric poles for a living and scaled mountains in his spare time, the stranger was built like a man who lifted cars off trapped kittens for a day job and hurled boulders around him for fun. With impossibly broad shoulders, thickly muscled arms, and a chest Mia knew was carved from a hunk of solid rock, he was an intimidating specimen."

Who would not want Sawyer when he's described like this? And we find out the is incredibly sweet and caring. He too has had a bad relationship he is getting over.

Mia's relationship with her grandmother is something else...

"What's up, sugar britches?" Mia asked as she answered the phone, grinning when her gram made an offended, huffing noise.
"Really, Mia. If I didn't know your mother had tried her best, I would think you'd been raised in a whorehouse."
"Aw, Gram. You're sweet."
"With a nickname like sugar britches, I oughta be," she said, making Mia laugh.

Mia has some good friends in Bubba, Ugly Ross and Tulsi and her little daughter Clementine. Bubba and Tulsi especially seem to be her better friends and are there for her no matter what.

I loved how Sawyer was there steady, strong sweet and slightly cocky and went after what he wanted, and after that first surprising kiss he very much wanted Mia.

We got a bit of a history lesson, suspense and intrigue along with romance, friendship and a bit of fun.

This was a great read.

Leather and Lace was a great introduction to Jessie Evans for me.

Mia is a fiery red head while Sherman is a big, bald, sexy cowboy/biker with a deep sexy voice. Mia Sherman came back home after escaping her ex-boyfriend and finishing grad school. Sawyer Hale’s ex-girlfriend gave invasion of privacy new meaning. Sawyer comes to town to bid on renovations of this ghost town when he is literally knocked down and then kissed senseless by Mia. This chance encounter with this fiery woman grabs hold of his attention, so much so he is intent on looking her up online to find her. He finds out that she is a town native who owns a lingerie shop. Mia is intent to never have another relationship, and marriage, marriage is something that is not in her future. A family curse sees to that. This is a great story set within an old town, ghost town that is, with a mysterious family curse and a bit of love. The question is can Mia take a chance on love even with this curse hanging over her head. Will Sawyer be around long enough to get to know Mia? This is a great love story with some mysteries along the way.

"I read and reviewed this for Wicked Reads"

This is one of those books which draws you into the setting so completely that you can visualise the place and look out of the windows with them - and given I live 30 miles outside London, UK, that is quite a location shift! Mia is a feisty independent woman, who does not let life drag her down, rather she embraces it full on, except when it comes to settling down. A deep seated fear of a family curse, irrational as it may seem, is holding her back. Watching this romance unfold with friends and family cheering from the sidelines is great fun reading.

I am looking forward to getting into the next in the series.

I have finally given up. I can't get past the behavior of the characters and not enamored by either Sawyer or Mia. Mia is a little too old for the ridiculous pranks and mental thoughts and I don't find much hero worthy of Sawyer when he seems to be checking out the females in the town looking for some quick sex.

I checked out a couple of other reviews and it looks like the PNR element doesn't get resolved in this book and I definitely couldn't attempt anymore books.

I think I fell into the camp of the other 1 and 2 star reviews and this book and writing just doesn't work for me. There are too many books on my TBR and not enough time, so I'll move on to books that really interest me. There are other readers who thought otherwise, so if it is still free (which it was for me) you could give it a try.

Pretty good start

This was a nice story with a little suspense and drama. Tomboy but not by choice. Mia had a really bad experience while in college and has sworn off getting close to any man. But Sawyer is not just any man. He knows something is up with Mia when she acts kiddish at his attempt in flirting. He goes to the only person who can tell him Mia's best friend Bubba. When Mia's past comes back to haunt her Sawyer must prove to her he is there for her and is nothing like the nightmare after her now.
Bubba is the next book and I must say I am thinking about buying the book. Especially after reading the excerpt at the end of this book.
I would recommend this series for a fun read.

This was such a fun read. Mia is such an engaging character and Spencer is quite the hunk. Together they have a wonderful chemistry. Because of a family curse and some terrible judgement of the male of the species in her past, Mia has decided that a forever man is not in her future. Spencer comes to town to renovate the ghost town and he finds himself infatuated by the charmingly different Mia. This story is fun and has a lot of heart as well as some sizzling chemistry. A great start to the Lonesome Point series.

I struggled through the first 1/3 of the book and gave up. Maybe it's because the first chapter was so ridiculous(really-hanging bras and panties from the town flagpole and parking meters). The characters just didn't seem realistic.

This book was more awesome than I thought it would be. But the title sucks! Ghost Town. The Curse of the First Daughters. Or something like that would be more fitting. Sure, she sold nickers for a living. Not the main story here. Or a side story. And the cover, all miss represent the story. Sad.
