True to heart – one of magic, they will not fail
Hold back the tide – with swords and shields
Hold back the tide – they will never yield

Jana Denardo's career choices and wanderlust take her all over the United States and beyond. Much of her travels make their way into her stories. Fantasy, science fiction, and mystery have been her favorite genres since she started reading, and they often flavor her works. In her secret identity, she works with the science of life and gives college students nightmares. When she’s not chained to her computer writing, she functions as stray cat magnet. She’s also learning that the road to enlightenment is filled with boulders she keeps falling over and that the words gardening and Zen don’t go together no matter what anyone says.

I hate to give less than 3 stars to a freebie but it would not be fair give more, because I didn't enjoy it much. Maybe because I had high expectations? A vampire, a Druid and a werewolf! I was reeeeeeeally excited about it.
My problem with this story was how slow it was. To a short story it was too long and sometimes it seems like the plot was lost (or I was the one losing my concentration). The sign it wasn't for me? I took too long to finish it... I stop to read other two freebies while reading is story... So yeah, never a good sign.

So well, I think I would recommend it because I believe each of us may want different things from a story. It doesn't work for me, but I bet many readers will like it.

60% and nothing relating to the plot (murder mystery) really happens.
There have been three brutal attacks with multiple victims, but so far (60% remember?) the MCs have one sorta kinda maybe theory. Instead of investigating, they chat (I legit screamed "shut up already" at least a couple of times at them), drink tea, hang out with relatives, have more tea, more talk, hang out here and there again, insult each other on occasion, talk and drink more tea.

If a casual hang out drinking tea and having conversations thing butters your cucumber sandwich, then this story is for you. However, I am done.

1 star. Sorry, JD, this simply is not my cup of tea.

Why isn't this story rated higher as a whole? I liked the originality of having a Druid in the mix with a Werewolf & Vampire for this triad tale. Sure, the ending seemed a bit...well, lackluster for a dramatic climax, but the rest of it was really good IMHO. Also, I liked the snarking between the furball & leech...

A vampire, a mage, and a werewolf figure out how to work together.... Not quickly or easily, but the trio of species do work together quite effectively in this story. It is set in a world where supernatural beings are fully known by humans (or Normals), and even have their own paramilitary force - the Lucerna - to combat the really evil guys (like demons, etc.). While the mystery was interesting,a and the occasional bedroom activities hot, this is not an action-packed story. The pace is slow and leisurely, gradually revealing more of the background and the prophecy, and if that is your kind of thing, you will probably like this free novella.

Novella length paranormal story. Established couple, doctor/druid and specialist police officer/vampire team up with newly discharged marine/werewolf to fight a rogue mage with a grudge. A good supporting cast of characters and nice world building but I found it difficult to believe fully in the three men's relationship and the ending for me fell a little flat but other wise enjoyable.

I liked this story it had good characters both main and supporting but in relationships where there are 3 participants I prefer more equal footing for everyone involved and I kind off felt Derreck didn't really fit in yet with Jason and Faolan since they have an established relationship. overall I did like it and would like to read more about these characters

Loved this and hoping it's the start of a series. Characters fully fleshed out, wonderful world building, strong plot and pacing, show not tell, and best of all, basically free of grammar errors.
