Melodee Lee learned early on that it is futile to trust. Orphaned at thirteen - which was a blessing in disguise - she now lives a nomadic lifestyle, constantly on the move, never settling down. Nathan Sinclair's family is rich and powerful. His father is a senator, mother a socialite - both of them far too busy for the family life. But at least he's always had his brothers. The four of them dominate the city of Syracuse. He's also a rising basketball star, set to be signed by the NBA, and despite the fact his slam-dunk nickname was earned both on and off the court, he’s decided that it’s time for a break. He’s over the drama of college women. An accident, a baby, and unforgettable circumstances bring these two people together when their worlds should never have collided. Will Nathan and Melodee find in each other the "home" they've been searching for? Note from author - this is a 'fairytale', love-at-first sight story. There is no big journey, they fall hard and fast. If you don't enjoy this type of romance, Songbird might not be the book for you :) - This is a full length, standalone HEA romance. It is recommended for 17+ due to language and sexual situations. This is a newly revised/edited version. Happy reading!

Secret Keepers series (Paranormal Romance) House of Darken. House of Imperial. House of Leights. House of Royale.
Storm Princess Saga (PNR/Fantasy) The Princess Must Die. The Princess Must Strike. The Princess Must Reign.
Curse of the Gods (Reverse Harem Fantasy Romance series) UpperYA/NA Trickery. Persuasion. Seduction. Strength. Neutral. Pain.
This was surprisingly good. I'm really hoping Jaymin continues writing more Sinclair books. I would love to read about Candy and Matt. I also feel like Melodee's sister might do well with Chase or maybe even Luke.
Melodee is one bad ass chick. She's independent, strong, and skilled. I loved how she was with Jewel and with Nathan. Nathan was a surprise. He may be a player and star, but I loved the way he looked after Jewel and Melodee.
This is my first Jaymin Eve book. I feel like I devoured this one really quickly, in a couple of hours and I'm looking forward to reading not only more contemporary from her, but also her paranormals!
SO CHEESEY. No really, the plot and descriptions of Melodee are so clichéd and predictable. I feel like the author is trying way too hard to make Melodee seem like a badass. I'm not a fan of the writing style either.
I liked the beginning of Songbird but as the book went on there were a lot of self pet peeves hit that took from the story for me. He had an agent, sorry college basketball you have and agent you get banned. The doctor had to be flown on a jet but he would be their in 20 minutes? Just lots of things a good editor would of straightened out.
Now the good things I liked Melodee Lee aka Songbird as a strong female lead with a dark past. Parents who were killed because they were assassins and who raised her training her as such. Nathan was an ok male lead but I loved Charlie.
Overall i think this book could of been really good it just didnt connect with me and the flubs made it worse for me. Also this is a book 1 in the series but there is no book 2 and it was released in 2014
Wow. All I can really say about this book. It was so different from anything I have read in a long while, though it had some familiar elements to it. Largely, this book reminded my of Jaymin's own "Supernatural Prison" series, with the four brothers and Mischa/Jessa-like personality of Melodee. Melodee also reminded me quite a bit of Gin from Jennifer Estep's "Elemental Assassin" series. Quite the fascinating read.
Nathan Sinclair has lived a life in the spotlight, surrounded by adoring fans and everything money could buy...Except his complete happiness. Growing up wasn't easy, but he had three amazing brothers to get him through the worst of times and raise his spirits.
Nathan's life of emotional solitude ends the night he meets his two fated angels; one who gets his heart beating in a way no woman before her ever has, and another who brings out a fierce and fatherly nature he never expected to be capable of.
Melodee Lee has been alone for as long as she can remember. She has never truly belonged or known a place she could call "home." She is a kick-ass fighter with a heart as big as the world, despite her past and impoverished circumstances.
Melodee's nomadic lifestyle is thrown for a loop the night she gets in a car accident and lands right into the lap-of-luxury...BRIEFLY. She has to remind herself that there can be no life with the stunning billionaire she finds herself falling harder for each day. She has been and always will be ALONE. Period...or will she?
Highly recommended for those of you with a thrill for love and battle. It's a very heart-warming story with a bit of action in-between. It was just a bit too fast-paced for my tastes— especially in the beginning—but overall, it had a very nice flow to it and kept my attention throughout the entire read.
I found this review difficult. Jaymin Eve is one of my favourite authors, I started knowing this was more if a contemporary romance story but about half way through I was a little disappointed but I did actually really enjoy it once I got past that point. It is well written as all Jaymin's books are and Melodee is a strong but vulnerable female lead. The Sinclair family and Candice are fantastic supporting characters. Melodee is not as funny, sparky as other Jaymin female leads and maybe that's what I was missing. However as a contemporary romance it was good, hence my rating. For me it wasn't as good as other works I've read from Jaymin but holds up very well against other books in this genre. Like others I would like to hear more about the Sinclair brothers but I know this isn't in Jaymin's plans.
Songbird begins when Melodee gets into a car accident. She doesn't really know the guy who was driving the car, or the people in the other car but they didn't make it. Now, Melodee must do what she can to get the baby out and save herself. Help comes in the form of town legend Nathan. He's drawn to Melodee right from the start, but other things seem to get in the way until neither of them hold off on it any longer.
This book was interesting, but I felt like it was missing something. I'm not really sure what that is, but it just felt lacking in some ways. I really liked Melodee's character, and I enjoyed the plot line. I just wish there had been a little bit more between Nathan and Melodee. It just wasn't enough.
This HAS to be the most cliche and chessy book I've ever read. Seriously. I don't think I've rolled my eyes or cringed this much at a romance in a LONG time, maybe ever. WOW. This book is completely ridiculous.
I'm only giving it two stars because she put a baby in the book.
It honestly deserves one star, but I'll give her two. Why? One star because she put the effort into writing it and another star for the baby. The writing is just God awful, editings terrible. It is just so so bad I can't describe how bad it is. The book was just boring and not entertaining at al, it feels not original and it left me unsatisfied I couldn't even finish the book, trust me, it is not worth the read or your money at all. I can't tell you how many times that I groaned "oh my gosh seriously this was put in here."
IT IS SO CLICHE I WANTED TO DIE, OMG.
It wasn't just at the writing was bad it was that the plot devices werent the best either. There was no character development or no rising climax to introduce the characters. When the two main characters meet and they're supposed to have a romance, but it's automatic and it's very unattractive to me because there should be a build up. It was just really quick because in the book the guy meets the girl at a very bad time right when his friend dies and he finds her attractive and I'm like dude your friend just died you should be very upset and yet you're like fawning over her. No class.
It's not just that but many other things made me want to claw my eyes out like the way the book was written and some of the words just irked me, for example:
“The need I have to taste you is strangling my ability to think clearly. But you deserve better.”
AND
“Seeing you standing there in my shirt is doing all kinds of shit to my caveman instincts.”
WHO SAYS THAT?!!! No. I stopped reading after that honestly it wasn't that good of a book.
I feel like the author just wrote a bunch of stuff real quick and threw it all together. But I could never write a book so I commend her for doing it because that's one thing I could never do and she made money off doing it so I commend her for doing that because that something I could also never do! The only thing I've ever made money off of it selling bracelets in the seventh grade so good job for her even though it's not the best book it's still a book!
I grew to love Jaymin Eve for her fantasy/paranormal stories. With Songbird, she stepped into the world of contemporary romance. And I loved it. I borrowed this initially on KU and the book made the cost of my KU subscription worth it for the whole month. Instead of writing the stereotypical manwhore, sports-jock, Nathan is warm, smart, and understands who he is, and what he wants. And while Dee's story is a bit melodramatic, it isn't written in a way to overplay it. She's got vulnerabilities and quirks. Her damage isn't so deep that she's unapproachable.
When you read thousands of books, books can get lost, or blend in to the crowd. Nathan and Dee didn't. Songbird was memorable in a great way. And is still good on the reread. Kudoos to Jaymin Eve!
Quick read with little character development and not a lot of depth. The plot is fairly well paced throughout most of the book. Some of the events seemed a bit ridiculous and convoluted. How many extreme circumstances can an author fit into one story? Quite a few, apparently. I liked the two main characters and their interactions together. Overall, the plot just had no ring of truth to it and that made it difficult to enjoy the book. A good story to read if you just want to pass some time.
OK! Story line is what seemed to really boost this book. It was odd, so refreshing in that sense. Unfortunately, the dialogue (while completing understanding that it is high fiction) was too main-fiction-romance-novel-esque.... Appreciated for once that the guy was very tall and a sexy light blonde though (because these guys are always the sidekick :/) - super hot! I love your new paranormal books though, the ideas are super cool.
I'm so happy I stumbled upon this insta-love story. While it love at first sight, there is so much more going on in this book. It is a truly wonderful read with a lot of depth without ever going dark. It's not all happy love. There are ups and downs for the characters and a good amount of growth.
Highly recommended for when you need a mature pick me up.
Excellent book! This is a stand alone book about Melodee (an underground cage fighter) and Nate (a senators son and basketball star). Melodee is a kickass female lead who doesn’t take shit from anyone and is protective to a fault. Nate is your typical rich bachelor who falls head over heels for Melodee. It is a beautiful story with a happy ending. If your looking for a good, quick read where everything is wrapped up by the end, this is the book for your.
This was weird. It just seemed… not at all realistic? I don’t know if that’s it exactly but about halfway in, I was ready to skim just to move things along. It also felt like it needed better editing or formatting. Like it would switch perspectives but there was no indication and then sometimes it felt like it was an outside narrator instead of the characters. I don’t really know how else to describe it.
This was a quicker story than I am used to with Jaymin, but it was so good! I loved Melodee and Nathan's relationship and then the adorable Jewel! Loved all the side characters aswell and the fact that Melodee was a fighter and more than able to take care of herself. Enjoyed every minute of this book and couldn't put it down. Wish there were more books about the brothers! Highly recommend reading this!
A bit shorter than I expected, so we didn't get to delve as deeply into the characters as much as I would've liked (especially considering Melodee's super interesting background), but hopefully we'll get to learn more in the next few books of the series. And also tie up some loose ends (e.g. Craig the solicitor). 3.5 stars.
I have had this book on my to be read list for a couple of weeks just waiting for the chance to get it started. A relaxed New Year's day seemed the perfect opportunity. Fast forward 4 hours and the book is finished and yet again I am left in awe at the talent Jaymin has. The characters are loveable and relatable and the story line was perfect. A+++++++
Wonderful, sexy and intense!! Nathan is so steaming hot it’s unreal!! Wow!! Melodee is strong willed and straight forward!! Together they make one hot couple. I loved how this story took 2 broken people and made them perfect for each other in the strangest ways. Love at first sight. Had some intense parts and some steamy parts which made this a great read!!
I love the people in this book... I am super sad that only one book is written... I want to know the stories of all the Sinclair's!! I dont want it to end but.. I know that this was written years ago... I just hope that maybe one day you might finish the other 3 brothers!! Thanks book was truly amazing.
Not the strongest work by jaymin eve. I usually devour her book. This is definitely a different type of book than her usual. There is a lot of potential but this book fell short for me. Not a lot is steam and parts that felt like they were cut off. The female character was fine, the male didn’t have a lot of depth. Idk.
I loved absolutely every minute of this book, it’s totally different to any of Jaymin’s other books I’ve read but still as amazing. It’s fast paced and action packed and has one kick ass of a heroine in it as well as a really hot male lead. I loved the intensity of the relationship between Nathan and Dee and how down to earth they both were.
It was good, the heroine is real bad ass, underground fighter, had shitty parents thn she meets Nate. Love at first sight kind of thing. It was good but I honestly thought it was a paranormal so I was waiting and waiting haha oh well still it was ok, but just not for me
While the writing was fantastic and I loved the characters, I found the story to be a teensy bit too predictable which is the only reason this wasn’t a 5 star for me. Dee is such a strong female lead and I love that she doesn’t take crap from anyone, while fiercely protecting those she cares about. Was definitely pleased with the way this ended!
While this is one of her earlier works, I had a hard time not comparing it to the newest book series. The story in itself was really good. Nathan was a great BBF, kind compassionate and accepting. Melodee was strong but also weak at the same time. Overall really good.
This was a great book. It's an insta-love story but there's still depth to it and the characters aren't just cheesy in love. There are trials and dark backgrounds but overall a beautiful read.
I couldn't put it down. I first met Jaymin Eve through her Walker series and fell in love. I now follow her on Amazon. I'm looking forward to the Sinclair brother's stories.
