Years ago, Rolling Stone magazine dubbed the nine collective children of the most famous band in the world “Rock Royalty.” Now all grown up, the princes and princesses are coming back to L.A.’s Laurel Canyon to discover if love can be found among the ruins of a childhood steeped in sex, drugs, and rock ‘n’ roll.

World-weary band tour manager Ren Colson leaves his London business behind for a stay in Southern California, never expecting to wake up beside Cilla Maddox. Cilla Maddox—who in the years since their last meeting has turned sexy as hell. But she deserves more than a man hardened by long nights, dark roads, and too many faceless women.

One night will change her world…
Cilla Maddox not once imagined she’d see the bad boy of her dreams again. But then he’s sharing her air, her home, her bed. Though he claims he has no heart, she wants it to be hers. Can she convince him that the flames that leap between them might signify forever?

Really good book. The hero and heroine are the children of two different members of a wild and crazy rock band who sort of grew up together on the same compound in LA. He left early and now has come back to look at a box left to him on the death of the woman who was the closest thing all these rock star kids had to a mom. And he discovers that the youngest of the batch of kids has grown up into a beautiful young woman. The heroine had a crush on the hero years ago but thought she had outgrown it. Until he shows up in the middle of the night. The story is mostly about the rock band's kids and how they relate to each other as adults, and about the growing romance between Ren and Cilla. I liked it a lot and will be reading more in the series.

A novella, my coy had 160 pages. So it was short, but it worked.

Cilla and Ren are not siblings, but grew up at the same place. Their fathers are rockstars, asshole rockstars who just left their kids at the ranch. And there were lots of kids. So they both have issues.

Cilla is frigid and asks Ren to help. Ok so I get why there had to be a lot of smexing ;) But eh, for a novella like this it felt like it was too much. They just smexed around and suddenly after no time at all they were in love and fighting it. So it was good, just...I am a smex scene skimmer these days.

So if you want a passionate couple that are too headstrong to realise that they are in love then read this one.

It's been several years since I read anything by Ridgway. I'm a sucker for rock star romances, and the premise of this one intrigued me. It wasn't a bad read, but the characters read as very young. Ren's bad-boy persona was told more than shown, and I got frustrated with Cilla several times because she seemed so immature. I did like the other siblings and the way that part of the story was told. I also liked the connection between Ren and Cilla, and how their romance developed. There were a lot of unanswered questions, but I assume they'll be cleared up in the following books, since there are 9 in the series.

Overall this was a quick read. Not a lot of substance, but entertaining.

Light My Fire is book one of the Rock Royalty series of contemporary romances.

This book is set in LA and is about the children of the members of a Rock Band. The children all grew up together, but drifted apart in adulthood.

This story is about Ren and Cilla, drawn back to their childhood homes after the death of a close friend. No blood relations, Ren and Cilla have been brother and sister, but now their feelings for each other have changed. Could they ever find happiness together?

With lots of Hollywood nostalgia this book was a light fun read.

Great start to the series. Looking forward to the rest of the Lemon kids getting their HEA... but I hope we find out who the little dark haired girl was and what they weren’t suppose to talk about. How do a bunch of kids that look so happy in the pictures turn into adults that don’t talk to each other. ????

I am a longtime Christie Ridgway fan. Her Beach House #9 series is probably one of my all time favorites series written. When I got the email to review her latest book being published, I pounced on the opportunity. I was even more excited to find out this is more in the category of NA (the heroine s 24).

This story follows Cilla and Ren both of their fathers are Rock Legends from the band Velvet Lemons (Terrible name I know). We basically get to see what their life was like growing up with famous dads and no moms (This is true for all 7 of the other kids as well). The one woman who held the children together and helped them through their adolescence has recently passed away. In her will she has asked that Ren come back to the compound and get his inheritance. Little did Ren know this would mean sharing Gwen's (The woman who passed away) cottage with the all grown-up and beautiful Cilla.

In true Ridgway style you have a stubborn as a bull hero and a sweet and understanding heroine. I will admit at times both characters really got on my nerves. Prissy or Priscilla or Cilla whatever you want to call her, came off weak and at times desperate. I wasn't a fan, but she did end up redeeming herself and I enjoyed her character a lot in the end. Ren, I wanted to punch him. I do not like a male lead who likes to feel sorry for himself and being in a characters head like that can get annoying quickly. I also didn't like how he would tell Cilla he didn't want her but the moment she had male attention he got super possessive and protective, (Whiplash much?) then he gets upset when Cilla does get attached to him. Way to send mixed signals buddy.

I enjoyed a lot of the secondary characters and would have liked more from them, but she is writing stories on each of the children from the compound so I can't wait for that. I'm particularly excited for Cami's story.

If your in the mood for a quick romance with some steamy scenes, then I definitely think this book is for you. I will add that there isn't anything too original about this story, I feel like I have read it many times before hence the 3.5 stars. It is well written, the characters are likable, and the romance is sweet.

I really liked this one. It was a bit more cerebral than most, and by that I mean that the language used was more intelligent and less juvenile. I don't think I'm getting my point across very well, so let me just say:

The author gets bonus points for using the term 'Luddite'

There was a little bit of OM drama, but it fit well within the story, and didn't detract from the story, nor did is distract the characters from each other.

I loved Ren's almost desperate reluctance and resistance. I was like, "you silly man - resistance is futile!" And, boy did I really love his progression and his journey!

I used to read Christie Ridgway novels years ago and still have them in paperback on my bookcase. My tastes changed and I moved on to other authors but when I saw this and book 2 in the free downloads, I downloaded them instantly because I had always enjoyed her writing style.

Unfortunately, I ended up disappointed. I didn't recognise her writing style in this one at all. Perhaps because her earlier books are about more mature characters. This book felt very YA/NA even though Cilla is mid twenties and Ren is early 30's. They just felt immature to me.

I liked the sound of the series but then started reading and didn't like the fact it's about a band consisting of three male rockstars who all had 3 children each with different women (presumably groupies), none of whom stuck around to bring up their children. They all lived on a compound together but surprisingly, were not that close and as they have grown up and moved on, they rarely keep in touch or see each other. I did find that a bit odd considering they had all grown up together. Cilla is the youngest of the nine children and had a crush on Ren growing up. Ren is a commitment phobe. He doesn't think he has much to offer a woman.

The plot was weak in my opinion and I was bored. I could see everything coming a mile off (the Rapunzel part especially). I also found that early in the book, instead of a new chapter, a new paragraph was used instead, so it made it hard to read as one minute it was a conversation taking place and next paragraph, it had changed POV and was the next day. It did not help the storyline flow.

I can't say I really liked Cilla or Ren. I may read the next book seeing as that was free as well but I was disappointed with the writing. It was nothing like how I remember Christie Ridgway writing in her earlier books but if you are new to her, then you may like it.

I’ve been a fan of Christie Ridgway’s books for a long time now. It all began with a little number entitled Wish You Were Here about a blind astronaut named Yeager Gates (I know – loved his name!), who hides away on a magical island where Zoe Cash, full-time resident and self-proclaimed matchmaker, lives. To this day, their story is still my favorite from this author. If you think I’m going to tell you any of the details as to why their story is special, think again. You’ll need to make a trip to Abrigo Island - because what happens on the island, stays there.

Ah – but now Ridgway has a new series to tempt and delight. Light My Fire is the first book in her new Rock Royalty series. It introduces the nine offspring of the infamous Velvet Lemons band members (where does she find these names?), who were raised by their dads – no moms in sight. The stage is set for upcoming books as well.

This is Ren Colson and Cilla Maddox’s book. These two have an intense connection – where sparks ignite and the fire burns hot. You’ll find that Ren is a bit of a stubborn loner, who has no desire for anything permanent in his life. I love when those types come face-to-face with a future that just won’t let go. And Cilla – she’s such a lonely peacemaker. She lives in a world of costumes. Life gets a bit more lively when Ren makes a surprise visit after years away.

There’s a need to know more about the interwoven relationships and just exactly what transpired behind mansion doors of the infamous legends. I’m definitely on the bandwagon to keep on rockin’ with this group of characters who have piqued my curiosity.

Light My Fire by Christie Ridgway

Cilla Maddox and Renford Colson are children of a Rock and Roll dynasty. They grew up in the same community where drinking, drugs and wild parties were the norm and parental guidance lacking. As adults, the nine raised together have gone their own ways but not without personal issues.

Cilla has always had a crush on Ren. When they meet again to deal with an inheritance, Cilla gets up the nerve to ask Ren to be her sexual mentor. First step is hiking? He thinks he can help her get over her hang-ups starting with a slow seduction. That doesn't last long.
Sexual gymnastics follow. Lots. Detailed but not explicit. It was good to see Cilla become comfortable in her own sexuality. It was also nice that they went out on dates and had some laughs together.
But each family member has hang-ups they must overcome or they will walk away from each other.

“If they were anyone but the messed-up, mistrustful progeny of the careless, hedonistic kings of rock 'n' roll, there might be a chance for something here. Temporary, of course, but that didn't mean it couldn't be satisfying.
But nothing was going to happen, because they were the messed-up, mistrustful progeny of the careless, hedonistic kings of rock 'n' roll.”

This story is well paced with adventure, intense
passionate romance, twist and turns with interesting characters.
The main characters has undeniable chemistry between them
but they try to hide this chemistry even to themselves.
The main characters, Priscilla( Cilla ) Maddox and
Renford( Ren )Colson are two of the nine children of The
Velvet Lemons who have not connected in years. Both were
fathered by different members of the band but all grew up in
the bands compound amidst unsavory conditions. Will they be
able to reconcile? What will happen to Cilla and Ren?
This is a story that will touch your heart.
Thank you to the author for this eBook. My opinion is my own.

Emotionally raw love story

I found book one in the rock royalty series to be an emotionally raw love story. Yet, it had a sweet and savory ending. Both Ren and Cilla had a misguided upbringing that was brought full circle the beloved Gwen. With Cilla's help, Ren can break down the stone walls he has built between himself and the rest of the rock royalty.

This was fairly enjoyable. I'll be honest when I say I didn't care too much for all the side characters, but Cilla and Ren were really sexy together. The plot to this wasn't bad, but really the only parts that I really liked were when these two were together. Had the plot been a little more interesting, I would have rated this a little higher.

My only questions: what was it that Ren was never supposed to talk about? Who was the other baby in the pictures?

The first in the Rock Royalty series is a fun introduction to the children of world famous rock legends. The world may believe that growing up the privileged children of Velvet Lemons is exciting but those nine kids know differently. When they lose the woman they almost all considered their mother they’re drawn back in to the home they all left behind. When Cilla and Ren find themselves alone at the Velvet Lemon compound they are dealing with not only the emotions of losing someone they both cared about but also the chemistry and sparks shooting between them. Ren is determined to head back to London and no matter how much Cilla shows him that love and happiness can be his he’s not ready to put his heart on the line and stay in LA. Can Cilla prove to him he’s worth love? A fun start to the series and I’m excited to enjoy how the rest of the Rock Royalty find their HEA. Good read!

Cute story, fun premise and good start to a series. I’d have liked a little more character development. There were some interesting observations offered about the characters but then they were just left hanging there. There’s kind of an abrupt end to this one. I’ve really gotten used to epilogues...I want to know how this works out after the male protagonist has his epiphany and declares his love. I suppose there will be references in future books but I like my books to leave me with a sense of completeness and I didn’t get that here.

I had a hard time putting this book down. I fell in love with Ren and Cilla immediately. They are members of Rock Royalty....their Dad’s were part of a rock group and they were forever dubbed that.

They are brought together by sad circumstances, but start finding their way back to each other this entire story. We get to watch their relationship grow, see them fight their feelings and although not your typical hearts and flowers, there is steamy romance for days!

I enjoyed the characters and the storyline. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I started reading this book and was unable to put it down. The emotions that the characters felt, I felt. The amount of chemistry between Ren and Cilla is so raw and true. Sometimes the sexual encounters in novels come across as raunchy, but this one doesn't! I was very happy with the ending, and that I stumbled upon this series. I just want more! I can't wait to read the rest of the books in the series.

Light My Fire

Ren is the oldest of the lemon children and Cilla is the youngest. They are not siblings just grew up together. When Gwen passes she was like a mother to them. Cilla and Ren come back to the lemon compound to go through her stuff and start falling for each other. Great read.
