Kitchen Keepers is a celebration of all that is excellent and delicious in home cooking.
Coming from a kitchen maximalist who knows how to dazzle when it comes to putting dinner on the table and to feeding loved ones with generosity and abundance, this is real food for the demands of a full, busy life. Food that is clear and uncomplicated yet bursting with flavour. Food that is not time- or cost-prohibitive, and food that you'll want to make again. And again. And again.
Katrina Meynick's enthusiasm for food and cooking is so clear throughout her latest cookbook, Kitchen Keepers. Her version of recipes brings fresh ideas and takes to familiar dishes. For example the kale salad has the addition of black beans and an amazing coriander buttermilk dressing. The moussaka recipe does not have any potatoes, but it does have a wonderfully crunchy phyllo topping. The subtitle of the book is Real Life Recipe to Make on Repeat, and from the ones I made, I agree.
The recipes are very reliable, but know that the ingredient lists can run long for a lot of them, so some planning ahead is likely in order. Also, there are several references to seemingly 'only in Australia' or 'hard to get in the US' ingredients, so some creative substitutions may be needed.
