Embry Harris is desperate to turn things around her senior year of college. She’s determined to make more responsible choices and rid herself of the stigma plaguing her. But because of her job and the hot bartender who goads her into making impulsive decisions, it isn’t going to be easy.
Stede Bennett’s mission since returning from his overseas tour is to get his degree. The last thing he needs is a spoiled sorority girl distracting him. Being a Marine taught him many things, except how to handle a beautiful woman in constant need of saving.
Protecting Embry from the jerk threatening to ruin her reputation is how Stede begins to lose his heart. Being empowered by Stede’s words is how Embry starts losing hers. If the schemer responsible for pushing them together gets his way, they could lose their chance for happiness.
Meda White is an award-winning author who was born with Georgia clay in her veins... and between her toes. Big families, dirt roads, and fried catfish make life worth living. She mostly enjoys the Southern lifestyle with her husband and furbabies. The exception is the hundred degree summer days with a hundred percent humidity. No amount of Aqua Net can fix that hair then.
When not writing, you might find her singing harmony, attempting to play guitar, shooting zombie targets, quoting movie lines, traveling, teaching yoga, or explaining the meaning of her unusual first name.
This was a cute little read, I love stories where we are reminded of lesson we have learned and need to be reminded of from time to time. This books lesson is that things are not always as they might seem. The author tells a compelling story about a girl in college who has her reason not to trust. The man who caused her so much pain by spreading rumors about her because she didn’t give him what he wanted. It seems she is not the only one he has and is still controlling. To me he was a big bully with way too much power, funny how people give bullies power. Embry is determine to take hers back and make a stand with help from a friend (Stede)
Little by little she learns to trust and that trust is taken away from her again. There are misunderstandings and things get in their way, things are not always as they seem. Sometimes things look one way when in fact they are another way. Stede does his best to protect her but it makes him look bad. Will this be the end or will Stede and Embry find their way back to each other and the love that is so new….
I found this to be an easy fast read, it was easy to follow and easy to read. The author tells a lovely story of loosing yourself esteem and getting it back. Along with a wonderfully sweet love story….
This was a fast, easy read. I loved the story. I knew it was a novella going in, but I wanted more. I loved these characters.
Embry is always being harassed. It has been two years since she ran from Chase and he still calls her a tease. All the fraternity brothers harass her also. She just wants it to stop. She wants to leave the fraternity, but can't. She is stuck in a place she wants out of. She meets Stede and starts to feel things she never has before. Can she let him in? Or is he just looking for one thing?
Stede is instantly drawn to Embry which is a shock since he doesn't date sorority girls. He then finds out something Chase is up to and wants to protect Embry. Will he protect her or will he betray her?
I really hope that some of these other characters get a book. I wouldn't mind more on Stede and Embry either!! This is a great novella when you are looking for a short read!!! Great way to spend waiting at an appointment or getting your hair done. I cannot wait to read more books by Meda White!!
This novella is one of those that gives you hope that makes you believe and heck go out and seek a good man.
Embry is a college student. Stede back from tours as a Marine. She's a waitress he's the customer. She bites into his food, he saves her life and that was their bond. Seriously, a knight in shining armor, always saving her an looking out for her because that's the kind of guy he is.
But of they can't have more because she is EVERYTHING HE IS AGAINST. A sorority girl and a fellow co-worker (eventually). Stede, you go ahead and make all the rules you want. Destiny and fate will work against you.
Embry, is harassed and tormented by this fraternity brother who just won't leave her alone. The story plays out well but you have to read what happens. Douchebags NEVER win.
My first Meda White experience and yes, I would read another novella in a heartbeat. I enjoyed the writing style and the story line.
In Fall Rush, Meda White pens a story of of a young woman (Embry) who has had some harsh realities in her life. Even so, she's still more naive than Stede, a former Marine. He can't believe he's attracted to a sorority girl, but he comes to realize Embry isn't the stereotype.
For a novella, this story is packed with a love story, a villain to bring down, first impressions destroyed by trust betrayed and engaging characters wrapped in a delightful Southern ambiance. I'm really enjoying this series.
Circumstances are not always what they seem. In this sweet love story there are undercurrents of not only attraction between the hero and the heroine; but there is also a villian's delusion of conquest, regardless of the pain it may cause; however bad karma always returns to bite the butt. The author has spun a beautiful tale with tender sentiment, courage, and humor. It is engaging from the beginning to the ending, which came too soon.I recommend this book to everyone.
