Oh how I love my Vampire Diaries. Unspoken is the second book in The Salvation Trilogy. And, it was fantastic!

Stefan is gone and Elena is heartbroken. He was her life, her future. All her plans for the future were with him. Now she and the rest of the group want revenge. Jack is hiding along with his band of synthetic vampires and they are trying to find him. But when they do find him, what will they do? No matter what they try, they cannot figure out a way to kill these indestructible vampires.

 photo damon_zps87c95856.gif

Damon is back. Through his bond with Elena, he knew something had happened to his brother and he returned to Dalcrest. Even though they are both grieving, the love is still there between Damon and Elena. Can they overcome their grief and accept the love they have for one another?

 photo damonandelena_zpsef705f8a.gif

Even though finding and killing Jack is their number one priority, the Guardians have a new task for Elena. There is another old one and she has been killing humans freely. Her name is Siobhan and now, Elena must find and kill her on top of the task of finding a way to kill Jack. But along the way they discover that there might be a link between Siobhan and Jack. Figuring out how to convince Siobhan to help them, though, might be tricky!

Throughout this book our favorite group of friends are faced with what seems to be insurmountable odds but even though they are all different, some human, some magical, some vampire, they all find a way to bind together and find the strength to overcome. And time and time again, just when happiness is within their grasp, it is yanked away with some new danger. I have been through so much with these characters and now I am faced with the long wait for the final book of the trilogy to come out.

It's weird how reading a the vampire diaries book always feels like coming home. Even though it was years ago since I read the previous trilogies, it's like the characters are still very vivid and present in my mind. My love for them never disappears, never falters, never weakens. And this book once again does not disappoint.

I love how the story focusses on so many things, without it feeling all over the place. I love how it focusses on love, on friendships, on relationships, on honesty, on grief, on pain, on loyalty and on chivalry. It's a story of a group of friends who do everything they can to protect and avenge each other and it's time after time a wonderful pleasure to read about them.

This book had a slow start. I didn't mind the slow start and the time they took to place all the pieces on the board, but it was near the end that my eyes raced over the words and couldn't stop reading. I flipped page after page and read faster and faster until all of a sudden the book was done.

To be honest, there weren't many real surprises in the book. A lot of things I could see coming, including the very end. But that didn't matter to me. I like it when books are in a way logic, when the foundation for a certain event is already built earlier in the book, when things don't come completely out of nowhere, where the perfect ending isn't destroyed just because they had to write another book, but because they already stated that something like this could happen.

So, I'm really curious to read the very last book. Is it weird that right now I hope that somewhen in the future a new trilogy is written?

ps. chivalryisntdead should have been a hashtag. Why wasn't it a hashtag? Matt Honeycutt being Matt Honeycutt, one of the many reminders why I fell in love with him so many books ago.

Senza infamia e senza lode, assolutamente dimenticabile ahahah.

Though this book is sad in some parts, I felt that we took some much needed steps forwards. Instead of back peddling. Which is good!! I'm glad Elena stayed true to Stefan until she knew in her heart it was finally ok to move forward. I believe she always loved Damon since book 1 but bc Stefan came first it almost became a loyalty issue and not so much a love issue. Hey who knows maybe Katherine and Stefan are living it up on the other side LOL I hope there will be a Delena wedding!! That is a must! I am crossing my fingers and praying to God LOL ;-) Bonnie had a very cute wedding! Very happy for her character. She became more of a woman than a whiny girl. Which was refreshing.
I was very please with this book. I felt there was closure, character growth and every character got a chance at some spot light in a tastefully done manner. Everyone pretty much has happy ending except for Stefan. But I will say one thing on a positive note for Stefan. Being a vampire is more or less curse/burden for Stefan. (kind of like in the show) so in a sense(not sure if he is or is not coming back)its like he was released of his burden of being a vampire. So it sort of is good for Stefan. I am sure he will come back in one way or another but I still stand firm that Elena just needs to stay with Damon. She needs to stand by her decision now or Damon would be devastated. The flip flopping gets old and not to meantion I think Damon has proved himself a hero time and time again. I think he deserves to win the girl. That not to say I want Stefan empty handed but come on Katherine is Stefan's match.
If anyone disagrees please reread the series. Don't forget the Dumb Supper from the Awakening ;-)

Soooo I finally gave in to all my better thinking and I bought this book yesterday and just a few minutes ago completed it and boy am I pissed!!!!

SPOILER ALERT!!!!

The book started of as expected Elena being being sad over Stefan and Damon wanting to be close to Elena that sort of thing. Meredith is a vampire because of Jack blah blah blah...

The main reason I wanted to read this book is because Stefan is out of the picture and I wanted to see Damon and Elena finally get a chance to be together. And after all my waiting and some stupid divine intervention , the most stupidest of technicalities from those asshole Guardians is what would threaten Damon's happiness!!!!

This whole book was just building up my anticipation just to crush it!!!!

As much as I hate to admit it I still really enjoyed it. The writing was at times to me, seemed forced like trying to hard to project something but it had me going because I wasn't able to put the book done due to the anticipation .

After all is said and done there is only one solution to this problem and I don't know if Elena would want to go along with it... Disappointed much ugh! It always seemed to me like everyone is plotting against poor Damon!! *breaks downs in tears*

So if you want to torture yourself with all the expectations you have you should read this book!!!

This book was a little less horrible than the previous installment but that's not saying much. Once again the death of the villains were laughable. They were way too easy to kill and the manner in which they could be killed was unimaginive and anticlimactic. The ending was okay but I was still left unsatisfied by the rushed conclusion and that fact that despite everything Damon does for everyone he still comes in second to Stefan in their eyes. I liked that Elena had become stronger with her guardian powers and Bonnie's magic had grown into making her a full blown witch; the strong female characters I had loved from the original L.J books felt as if they had returned and became even more amazing. But I can say with absolute certainty that the books written after midnight were all subpar at best and downright horrendous at worst. It's clear to me that this final trilogy is a desperate attempt to correct the mistakes made in The Hunters trilogy but those mistakes cannot be fixed so easily. The series was ruined from then on and it will forever be tainted by the awful plots we've endured since then. I am so glad that I am almost finished with this series. Reading it has been torture and I can guarantee that I will NEVER touch these books again.

AGAIN with the cliffhanger? They're quickly becoming redundant and exhaustive in this series, and I might genuinely start hating them in all the books I read from now on because of this.
And it was getting good. Or better, at least. It seems I was wrong, Stefan might be gone for good and Damon and Elena are going to end up together, for real. I did think these artificial vampires are a bit much. But I was willing to overlook it. This could have been a four-star rating, but now it's more like 3.50 stars, and I'm keeping it to three stars because I'm mad.

“Oh, Damon, you know I’ve always loved you,” Elena said, her voice breaking. “Even when I wasn’t supposed to.”
Damon turned to her then, a new light dawning in his eyes, his mask of indifference breaking and letting hope shine through. Elena leaned toward him, sorrow and joy mixing together inside her, and their lips met.
His kiss was as soft as silk, but somehow demanding, too, and Elena opened to it. Between them, their bond flooded with emotion: love and joy, a sweet thrill of acceptance at last.
Yes, she thought, the joy conquering the sorrow just as, outside, the sun broke over the horizon. Yes. This is my future.

* Why is it that Elena is only able to admit to her feelings for Damon with Stefan gone? I really want her to either leave Damon alone or admit that she loves him for him. Not as a substitute for Stefan, because that's what it feels like, and it's not fair!

ugh i get that some novelists are just Like That with the whole "your love interest is your entire world" thing but at the beginning of the book elena thinks if damon died too she would truly have nothing. she has three best friends! and a family! what! and bonnie thinks the same thing, that elena is left with nothing now that stefan is gone, like girl, YOU'RE something, YOU'RE part of her life. but yeah, this book having everyone all paired up and happy at the end lmao it's clear this author thinks the romantic relationships are way more important than any other. especially illogical bc in the last book elena was like "i can't be the entire world to you" to stefan, like it was a problem, and now she's acting like her significant others are her entirely world, bonnie and meredith who?

"He'd never really struck her as vicious, not before stefan died" do you not remember how damon acted after you chose stefan over him and he drained a girl of her blood because of it. do you not remember when he threatened your four year old sister to force you into letting him drink your blood?? god! it makes me crazy. personally, i think sure, damon has been on their side plenty, but he's proven how easily that can change if he decides he hates elena/the group now like sorryyyyy tv damon is better and tv damon/elena are actually similar, i'm tired of the weird book narrative that they're soooo alike (not that i think she and stefan are a great deal alike either, but not any less than damon and elena), i just do not see it

damon thinking if he can't have elena's heart because it still belongs to stefan (which?? how many months has it been since he died because i didn't think it was all that long but she sure decides on damon pretty fucking quickly like i know she's already been in love with damon as well the entire fucking time but it's still like...take a little longer to grieve the fact that you don't get to have the life you had planned for with stefan), then he has to let it go, and three chapters later he "can't resist anymore" also since WHEN did he care about respecting her feelings for stefan, he couldn't even do that when stefan was alive, continually pursuing her and pressuring her when she was with stefan, even when stefan was imprisoned and near death lmao

wait, elena mentions her job, what was her job, what was her major, did they ever tell us that about her or any of the others?? meredith is doing law stuff right? but everyone else, i have no idea

anyway, i don't really absolutely LOVE any of the book characters the way i do the tv versions bc the book versions just aren't as interesting, though i don't think anyone is as annoying as other reviewers make them out to be (except damon), especially not elena, the "she's so selfish" take is so weird most of the time, but JESUS, how unfair is this to stefan. i got annoyed with him, especially in the last book bc it was like, dude, you're friends with these other people, you care about other things besides elena (but again, i think that's just how this author is doing things) and when lj smtih had him call elena "lovely little love" it was as bad as damon's dark princess shit. but like....he was a lil annoying, he did not deserve to die JUST so elena and damon could end up together, and god, giving his blessing, that scene was so...weird and dumb. like YES absolutely he would want elena to be happy and move on, but like, again, take a minute more to GRIEVE, girl. and wouldn't it have been more impactful for her to have chosen damon over stefan once and for all, because multiple times she picked stefan over him and it's only damon now because stefan is dead. he's still gotta feel like second choice! (also fans said that wanting to write a damon/elena endgame was why lj smith was taken off the series so...lol at that clearly that was not the issue)

maybe the guardians move slow but bonnie's wedding was weeks after they killed jack and damon and elena being in paris must have been a bit after that, so like, they really just waited that long to show up and be like "elena has to die now :)" also i'd think the fact that damon didn't kill jack with his teeth or anything would be a loophole to be like "i didn't commit this murder as a vampire, that was the whole concern with why you made this connection between our lives in the first place sooo it's different"

separate thing but the version i read is different from the others where it doesn't have the faces (where i never know what character it is) and it's the red on black background and i looked at the others and one is literally an apple like it obvious looks like twilight which is hilarious bc the vampire diaries was first, the original series anyway, but also why would they try to make them look like twilight WELL after twilight's initial popularity. anyway it's embarrassing, and despite everything wrong with that series, i still think it's better than this one

anyway, one more book!! can't wait to be done and only let the show exist in my head from now on

Yikes. I have very few positive things to say about this one that aren't related to the characters. The only reason I am still reading this is sentimental value - I have loved these characters for over 20 years. Damon was my first fictional character crush as a preteen/teen girl, discovering the first of these when I was 12-13 years old.

While L.J. Smith is no literary genius, she is a good story teller, and she really created a group of characters that were rich, fun, and easy to love. In the original books their growth as people was heartwarming and easy to be sucked into. Unfortunately, the author who has taken over writing these for her is even less talented. She has made these characters very flat. My favorite thing about Elena has always been how strong and feisty she was - and while she loved Stefan and was stronger beside him, she didn't NEED him, which is a great message for young girls. Unfortunately, this author has made Elena into a Bella-esque character who is whiny and sappy without her man at her side :(

The only positive thing I CAN say about this author is she (or he?) knows how to write a hook ending that did make me want the next book so I can see what will happen to the character. Hopefully the owners of the character rights will realize soon what a mistake they made taking the series away from Ms. Smith and give it back to her soon, or even the most faithful followers of this series will no longer be reading them, myself included.

I was really surprised where this book ended. Yes, the entire book was a build up to the Damon/Elena relation, but it was a nice surprise that they went all the way. Just as it was a nice surprise to find out that Stefan really doesn't return (except for one beautiful scene as a ghost). Don't get me wrong, I like Stefan, and I'm still sad that he died, but I am surprised that they dared to leave him dead. That gives death more impact, and I like that.
Matt is finally happy, with a normal (albeit really strong) nice human girl, and I hope he will stay that way (ok, he'll get in danger, and it's always a much bigger risk because he is "just" human, but at least he's happy!)

I'm curious how the Meredith situation will play out. She's definetly not ok with being a vampire...
And I don't like Guardians... at least we have a build up for the next book, with a dying Elena because they killed Jack (which does kind of make sense for the Guardians, because his largest goal were vampires, the same goal as they have. But I still hate them for doing it ;))>

All in all an enjoyable read, and I really want the next book.

God, This series always breaks my heart. It's really just a long series of people dieing and fighting monsters. But some how I love it.

I love the history of this series. How the Salvatore brothers have seen so much in their years and the history of the town is awesome. I wish it would have ended with Destiny Rising though.

Like WHY DID THEY HAVE TO KILL STEFAN. WHY. DID YOU WANT TO BREAK MY HEART? WELL MISSION ACCOMPLISHED.

Anyways, this book is all about Elena mourning Stefan's death *sob*, Elena and Damon falling in love, and killing Jack and his minions. I liked to see Elena and Damon's relationship.

There were a lot of surprises in this book. I can't really talk about them, besides the fact that Meredith turns into a vampire, because that happens in like the first chapter. I really hope they find a cure for her because I don't like her as a vampire. But overall, this was a great book, like always and I can't wait for the next one.

First of all... "Kann ich der helfen, bitte?" is just wrong, if you get some other languages mixed up in your work, at least do it right. Or else it's not something you can take serious, at least, if you know the language. I also think it's weird that the same guy who said this sentence, this awfully wrong sentence, adressed to her as "Fräulein" which isn’t used over here and I am quite sure also not in Switzerland unless it's your family or someone else who is close and usually in a joking manner.

Anyways, I loved Bonnie's wedding, it was beautiful, it was a short chapter and not that detailed but it still was beautiful.

Meredith being a spy but apparently Jack being suspicious no matter what, testing her after what? Days? Weeks? Was weird and now that I think about it TV cliché. Oh wow someone is a spy for the group and everything is fine but oh no the villain is so smart, he knows! I get that this will always appear, a cliché, every work will have them and they aren't bad, it just went by too fast to really feel like Jack trusted her.

I liked Siobhan, she could have been an interesting character, if she would have lived - on-page - long enough but well, she is dead.

The thing with Stefan, telling Elena to be with Damon and her immediately jumping to it, as if waiting for this was... something. Don't get me wrong, get together then, I guess but it's still bitter. But hey she got both in the end, lucky her, her other love just had to die. Yay?

Also I hate the Guardians? Like what is their purpose? They can't possibly think that what Jack did was fine? Or that he counted as human? That makes no sense, at least it should have counted as a loophole because they also did hunt humans.
This could have been a good end, really, did they really have to go this road? Just for one more book?
(I mean it's 13 book, maybe they hade planned even more I don't know but at this point there were three books? Four? That could have been the end sooo it's annoying honestly.)

This TVD spinoff series is definitely the best so far. The second book was really good. Tbh, I thought Stefan was gonna come back somehow but it looks like he’s officially dead-dead. I think the ending was strange. The Guardians decide to kill Elena 3+ weeks after they killed Jack, why would they wait so long? Especially since they were at the top of the Eiffel Tower.

I also wish we could’ve seen more of Meredith and how she was dealing with being a vampire. We only really got to read about the initial change, the toll on her after and the reactions from the group. Not much about how she was actually dealing with hunger or the abilities she had minus the few comments here and there from the other characters.

I think the plot was good and it was paced better then the first book. I like that the first time they had an upper hand to kill Jack that it was actually fake, I thought I would’ve been too easy to get the poison from Siobhan.

Overall, it’s really good and I look forward to find out what happens with the whole ‘Elena dies because Damon killed Jack even though he was a vampire’ situation and to see more of Delena.

Eeeehhhhhh...
I legitimately wanted to hate this one but really couldn't bring myself to do so. Admittedly I wasn't a fan of The Vampire Diaries before it became a television series (when I was 17) and the end of the television series left me hungry for more so I picked up the books. I'm also admittedly NOT a Delena fan...like...at all. But if you are then this book is for you.

The thing that sort of turned me off about the first two books in this series was its leaning into the more sciency aspect with the synthetic vampires as the villains. The magical aspects from the previous books seemed to be kind of lacking. Also I hate books where the "bigger good guys" don't show up until the good guys do something wrong. They never show up to fight the bad guys. Overall the book was okay. I think I'll pick up the third one.

I hate to say it but I feel like I have enjoyed the vampire diaries series more once the ghost writer stepped in. Maybe I just like her writing style better. I definitely have more buy in.

Lots of twists and turns in this one and I loved it!

A funeral. 😢More old vampire killing! 🧛‍♀️ A possible poison! A marriage proposal and a wedding! 💍 The defeat of 2 enemies! 💪🏼 Hero turned vampire 🧛‍♀️ A new guardian power! 💥 The release of love ❤️ and moving on! And of course, a twist at the end!

What I loved about this installment is that I truly feel for all of the characters and everything that they’re going through. All their emotions, all the risk, all the sacrifice, I FEEL that for them and I just want them to be happy.

I loved this book from start to finish! Very compelling! Can’t wait to read the final installment and see how this series finishes up.
