Rate this book
Romeo Raymond has just moved back to Brooklyn, New York from Decatur, Georgia to get a fresh start on life. He’s renting a spacious two-bedroom apartment in Bed-Stuy and owns a gym near Atlantic Mall. While jogging on the Brooklyn Bridge early one morning, he collides with another jogger – Jane Salgado. He worries about her at first, but after she assures him that she’s fine, he invites her to check out his gym. Romeo finds Jane attractive, but has vowed to not date anyone for a year as he’s currently finalizing his divorce from his ex-wife.

Jane, on the other hand, finds Romeo attractive and finds his southern charm refreshing. She’s never been coy about showing her feelings and quickly falls for Romeo. When he asks her to be his girlfriend, she’s over the moon, but she can’t ignore the feeling that he’s hiding something from her. She doesn’t rush him; however, believing that he’ll share whatever he’s hiding when the time is right. But when an unexpected guest ruins their romantic evening on Valentine’s Day, Jane finds herself leaving Romeo’s apartment heartbroken.

This book was so cute! The chemistry, the flirting, the banter between Jane and Romeo had me blushing. A cute short contemporary romance read, no spicy chapters but book was still very engaging.

This book was such a melodic read. The pacing was steady, the different point of views made the story feel in sync and there was just the right amount of everything. Character personalities, family dynamics, internal conflict, perseverance and authentic love. Spice level = .5 (if anything at all). There were a few moments where the story felt like it sped up, and the way the chapters are outlined- that makes sense. I really enjoyed this book! The characters felt real, the pacing was just right, and I found myself thinking about it even after I finished. I was excited to learn there’s a part 2 in this series - which I’ll be reading soon. Definitely a memorable read.

⭐️⭐️.5: i don’t know. This just didn’t do it for me. The story felt like it had a lot of potential but it jumped from her going to get a personal training visit to automatically them going on a date and him asking her to be exclusive after one date then not even asking her to come to a marathon he ran for support. I didn’t see any issue with the writing necessarily but the storyline jumped fast tracked a bit through points I’d find interesting to hear more about.

Cute.

Cute story. Showed the true value of telling the whole truth and not lying by omission. It can certainly bite you in the butt.
