Jaylinn McCormick is determined to forget that terrifying night that left her feeling broken and tainted. There is one person who can make her feel whole again, but he is hell bent on keeping her at arm’s length.
Cooper Cahill has loved Jaylinn for years, even more than his love for baseball. He wants nothing more than to put all her pieces back together, but he deems himself unworthy.
Does Cooper have what it takes to make Jaylinn’s heart safe or will he miss the chance and strike out?

I'm going at this all wrong -- backwards in the second series this week. Don't know what's wrong with me -- I'm usually a stickler for "read in order only syndrome."
I loved this book and these characters. Cooper caused me great heart palpitations - both good and bad. I wanted to smack him upside the head and yell loudly at times that he was being downright dumb. Then there were times that I simply wanted to give him a big old bear hug and say "everything's gonna work out fine."
Jaylinn was a star. Loved the strength, determination and motivation she put towards "inhaling the future and exhaling the past." I love a character who shows not only how broken she can be, but stands strong in the face of adversity.
But Holy-Way-to-Muck-it-Up! Readers are struck without warning when there is an ugly cliffhanger that leaves us hanging with a barely- there happy for now situation. That is not a good thing -- a bad play!
Now I'm going back to the foundation of the "Love Series" and catch up on the full cast of characters and their stories while waiting until 2015 for this naughty author to finish out Jaylinn and Cooper's happily-ever-after!
Jaylinn wants to "inhale the future, exhale the past". She wants to move forward but Connor is stuck in the past, blaming himself for what happened to her. It's the reason the got closer. But it's also the reason he keeps holding back.
With the prologue we get a glimpse into Jaylinn's nightmares. That had me instantly interested and made this the heaviest book in the series so far. Her thoughts on being dirty were just sad.
Afterwards the story starts off, where the previous book ended, with Cooper's confession. I thought this would be the big issue here. As Cooper had a secret, something he kept from her because he wanted to protect her. And he was afraid of her reaction. Because that's how these books worked so far. Cooper was such a sweet one but he also irritated me. I didn't get why he didn't just talk to her about his worries. Not that it wasn't believable.
But I loved how things turned out. I loved how Jaylinn adressed the problem I had with the previous stories. Out of the three girls we got know better, she's definitely my favourite. She's broken but also so strong. She's so reasonable, always open and honest, explaining that he can't keep things from her. And hands down to her for not throwing Brittany, who happens to be a crazy bitch and her half-sister, into his face later.
I enjoyed how playful the two of them together were. I read the previous books and I knew their story but somehow I was surprised they weren't official. I mean they were practically living together, always around one another. And I enjoyed Eli. I totally get that he's just so hot, you can't not be attracted to him and blush when he's around, I'd love too see him again in the following books.
And of course this ended with another cliffhanger. I'm going to get me the next book, for sure.
OMG!!! I KNEW Cooper and Jaylinn’s story was going to be an emotional roller coaster but holy hell! This book had me on the edge of my seat! Super ANGSTY! The emotions were RAW and omg. My heart!!!
Cooper has now taken Mason off as my favorite. LOL!
Reviewed on Behalf of Give Me Books. ***5 Stars*** I was so excited when I finally got to read this! I had been wondering about Jaylinn and Cooper's 'relationship' since the first book so getting to read this book and get some answers was awesome! Once I started reading I didn't want to stop. This is one of my favorite series and I have reread the first three books multiple times! I will no doubt be rereading Let Me Love You also.
Right away you find out the something bad happened to Jaylinn. Because of what happened, Jaylinn and Cooper have gotten closer, but it is also the reason Cooper has been holding back. For a good portion of the book I really wanted to smack some sense into Cooper because he let his fears control him and it caused him to strike out. It took awhile but Cooper did come to his senses, with a little help from Mason, but was it already too late? You'll just have to read it for yourself to find out if Cooper redeems himself! I loved being able to revisit the Cahill's and the McCormick's again, I love this book family! You also get to find out about Kenzie and Hunter's new baby and Mason and Hailey's twins. In this book you really get to see how strong Jaylinn is. You really don't realize that until you find out what she has been dealing with. Let Me Love You is a great addition to the Love Series and it was definitely worth the wait! It does end in a cliffhanger, but if you have read the other books in the series you know that they all do, so it shouldn't be a deal breaker for reading the book. I can't wait for more of Cooper and Jaylinn, and I also can't wait to know more about Eli! Who is Eli you ask? Well you will just have to read to find out! But you will love his character!
I am so glad that Cooper and Jaylinn got their story. After meeting them in the previous books wondering what their deal was and after the ending in the previous book, this did not disappoint.
After reading the prologue, we know what happened to Jaylinn and my heart broke for her. Cooper was there for her and only the two of them knew what happened.
Jaylinn wants to move forward and put the past behind her but Cooper is still stuck in the past blaming himself for what happened to her. him doing that makes him scared to have something real with Jaylinn and it breaks her heart.
It was great seeing the rest of the crew . had some laughs and realized how much I missed them ;-). Hailey and MacKenzie were awesome and it was great catching up with them and the guys with their new additions to the family. There were times where I was sad for J and wanted to slap Coop a few times. I couldn't wait to see what happened next.
Eli....he's one of my new favorite characters. Leave it to him and J to throw Cooper a curve ball to make him realize and admit what he finally wanted. it was about time!!
This book had me drawn in from the beginning and finished in a few hours. you will experience all the emotions and be left with a happy feeling. what an emotional rollercoaster, but you'll love the ride. there is a minor cliffy but it wasn't crazy so I'm not worried. I look forward to the continuation to see what happens:)
Looking forward to Eli's book in the fall. ;) here's hoping it's with Jaylinn's friend ;)
Add this to your tbr list today! you won't be disappointed!
Yes yes yes I totally loved this book. I haven't read the other books in this series but I didn't feel lost in the plot. Actually I loved it that much I want to go back and read the others in the series as these characters were awesome.
Jaylinn is carrying a secret around with her. She can't move forward. The only person she has told is Cooper and the secret is holding him back too. I really love the characters in this book and I totally loved Jaylinn and Cooper. The love these two have for one another radiates through the story. However I felt like banging their heads together at times.
This author wrote about a sensitive subject. It's good when authors put these subjects out there.
I absolutely love this book and am so looking forward to reading more by this author.
Ahhhhhhhhhhh OMG i cant believe it ended there what r u doin 2 me i m gutted i need the next 1 like now i luv this series loads the characters r amazin i luv everyone of them but ive been dyin 2 know what the story was with jaylinn an cooper an this book told us just what happen and what a story god i luvd how cooper was tryin 2 protect jaylinn but he just didnt now how much he was hurtin her at the same time i also liked how we still had abit from the others as well i luvd the book just dyin 4 more
Jaylinn and Cooper have known each other for years; they have loved each other for years. Cooper has always felt the need to protect Jaylinn, so when he wasn't there when she needed him the most, he blames himself. One night can change everything. It can alter the course in which you thought your life was going. Cooper never thought he would be faced with the guilt that he is carrying. Jaylinn on the other hand is trying to move past that awful night, yet it continuously comes back and haunts her. Whether it be in her dreams, or with her relationship with Cooper.
Jaylinn has been honest with her feelings for Cooper. She wants to have a relationship with him, more than what they currently have. Yet, Cooper feels as though she deserves better. He feels as though he can not give her what she wants. The two of them know that they love each other, they know how deep their feelings are for each other, but how come Cooper can't take the next step? When Jaylinn realizes that Cooper won't step up to the plate, will she stay? Will Cooper strike out, and lose everything? Will Jaylinn force Cooper's hand? When Cooper is faced to make a decision to be in a relationship with her, or let someone else love her, what will he choose? If Cooper won't love Jaylinn, will he be able to sit on the bench and watch someone else love her?
I loved reading this book because I felt the raw emotions that the Cooper and Jaylinn were going through. At times, I felt sick to my stomach seeing the turmoil that the two of them faced. I would yell at my kindle for Cooper to step up, to take a chance, to follow his heart. Jaylinn loved Cooper for who he was. She didn't blame him for what happened to her, so why did Cooper blame himself. Cooper felt as though he somehow let Jaylinn down. That if he would have just paid a little more attention, she would have been safe. But we can never play the would have, could have, should have game. We will lose every time.
Megan dug deep to get the emotions needed for Let Me Love. She tore our hearts out with each word she put on the page. There are two chapters that stood out the most to me, where I felt the heartache that Jaylinn felt. I felt the guilty that Cooper was feeling. To see the two of the struggle with the heartache tortured me, cause all I wanted was for them to let to love each other.
If you have not read the Love Series, then I suggest you ONE CLICK it immediately. You will fall in love with this group of characters.
I’ll never forget that face or the sound of his voice. It will forever haunt me for the rest of my life. Forever a monster under my bed.”
My Review:
I am new to Megan Smith, and since this book is the fourth of a series, I needed to read the first three books to be able to write the review. It is now 1036 pages later, and I have become a Megan Smith fan. This series keeps getting better and better with the drama amping up each installment. It is not just a New Adult or Contemporary Romance, but also a Family Drama. Of course they are all handsome/beautiful, athletic, fit, funny, and reasonably smart - yet remain insecure, overly sensitive, and easily confused about their relationships. They are annoying and immature, the men are cocky and conceited, and they don’t treat each other all that well, yet I continue to be interested in what is happening. This book works addresses the phenomenon of the self-fulfilling prophecy, when you fear something so much you do all you can to avoid it, yet your actions cause it to happen anyway. Cooper fears intimacy will ruin his relationship, but his lack of intimacy does that for him. The writing is entertaining, salty, steamy, and easily to follow. I hope I am paying attention when the next installment is published, I fear I have a new addiction.
Cooper sure doesn't like the thought of another man closing in on his woman, "suddenly Cooper has me caged in against the kitchen counter. He leans down, his breath tickling my neck. "You better now be drooling over anyone other than me." Sometimes Jaylinn surprises me especially when it came to her needs and how she voiced them and I loved that about her, "why aren't I good enough for you to sleep with, Cooper?" I yell angrily, unable to look at him. "You used to screw anything that looked in your direction but not me. Why damn it?" Cooper he's always thinking of his girl but sometimes he over thinks things I think well except in one situation where him over thinking things was actually kind of sweet, "you sure you want more?" I'm more than ready but she has to be a little sore, right?" Alas a cliffhanger ending but I wasn't upset I was glad that it ended where the characters are in their relationships so no killing the author over the cliffhanger.
I love this series and all the characters! I want to be related to them, they are a great family and will do anything for one another. I waited forever for Jaylin and Cooper's book. And I loved it, and I find out there is more Jaylin and Cooper in another book! their story still is not finished!! (YaY!! Excited!! Happy!!) I have to wait until 2015 (Boo!! Tears!! not happy!!) There is no denying that Jaylin and Cooper have feelings for one another, everyone can see it, everyone thinks they are a couple. They never take their relationship to the next level. Jaylin is getting frustrated she tries everything to get Cooper to make love to her. Cooper is afraid it will change things especially since the incident in Jalylin's past. The two "break up" and have to find their way back to one another.
Another one in the series I have no intention of writing a full review for, just trying to make room on my Kindle and finish the series too. I completely loved it though, I'd been waiting for this story for awhile. I can be read as a standalone and while it has an HEA is has a bit of a cliffy too.
I think my favorite part about this series is that Megan Smith has playlists that go with these books. If you listen to them at any point while reading these, they book smacks you upside the head even more.
What Jaylinn had to deal with was very hard and no one should be in that position. Cooper was there to save her and that's when they grow closer. It's not easy for them both. Cooper thinks it's his fault and Jaylinn just wants to move on but it's harder for Cooper. They both have feelings for each other and want to bad to be together but what happened in the past Cooper can't shake and may lose Jaylinn for good. I love this series and can't wait to read what will happen next
Warning - ends on cliffhanger DANGIT. I love This series and was looking forward to Jay and Cooper's story. Overall it was a good read but I hated the whole "we aren't together" "there is nothing between us" game when it was clearly evident they were in love with each other. But overall great addition to the Love series. Looking forward to the next book!
Ok, so in this book the conflict between the two main characters was a little more feasible than in the last three books, but I still didn't get the logic of Cooper. He was ok with her being with other men, but not him because of what happened to her. What?
It was still well written and flowed well and I am not giving up on this series, since I do like it and I own the whole series!!
Such a beautiful story. So much was unexpected. Hunter is a pain of a brother most of the time. I guess he was joking but you never know. And the way it ended? Come on!
Eariler... It's coming out July 21st. Just got it from her facebook page.
what a great book. the sexual tension between Cooper and Jaylinn is amazing. while Cooper thinks he is doing the right thing by not sleeping with Jaylinn ends up being what ends them.
This was a great book to read. It had sad moments and emotional moments but all in all a great book to read. Cannot wait to read the next book in this series.
My rating range of this story... 1 - 3 Stars If significant, why? The MCs acted worse than spoiled children.
Main Character Ratings... H = 5/10 h = 3/10 (end = 5/10)
Was cheating involved? Sort of Any major triggers to be aware of?
Scenes with heat... Yes What point does it start? Don't remember How much of the story? 10% Anything beyond M/F? No If yes, explained
Heat Rating... 6/10 Clean or Fade to Black - 1 or 2 Normal to Descriptive 3-5 Detailed Descriptive Sex - 6-7 Um, Wow, Beyond Descriptive Sex - 8 or above
Was there so much sex or unrealistic sex that you rolled your eyes and/or skipped forward? No
The back story... The h is saved by the H from an almost sexual assault. She doesn't want to tell anyone because she blames herself. He is beating himself up for giving in and taking her to the frat party.
The Romance... It is there throughout but neither of them (especially him) will get out of the way.
The drama explosion... He freaks out when she wants more Did it feel real or contrived? Very contrived Was it OTT? Extremely Separation involved? 4+ months... Really? Was it resolved properly or rushed? Ok
Final Notes... If it takes more than 4 weeks to discuss issues, there is no foundation for the relationship. His initial reasoning was sound but once she pushed to go further, he should have listened.
The fact that neither was willing to talk to others about the ordeal was mind boggling.
The Love Series sweetly but sexily documents the love lives of two families, the four Cahill siblings and the two McCormick siblings. The characters are sympathetic and well fleshed out, and the separate stories are fun if predictable.
My biggest issue with these books is with the proofreading. The first four books are rife with misspellings, incorrect punctuation, poor sentence structure, and missing or extra words! These editing gaffes occur so often as to distract the reader from the story, and I am not even an English teacher!
I don't know if this is a Kindle edition only issue, but I certainly hope the printed books are more thoroughly edited. The number of editing oversights in this otherwise cute series is an insult to both the reader and the writer!
