Scarlet Hyacinth was born in 1986, in a Romania still struggling under the weight of the communist regime. As a young girl, she started studying the English language and fell in love with books. After a childhood spent devouring hundreds of pages of fantasy literature, Scarlet found her calling. While at uni, she discovered with the help of a dear friend that she had a knack for writing. The rest, as they say, is history, or rather, lots of hard work and sleepless nights. Today, she can only say with a smile that nothing is impossible and that no matter what others say, you can achieve your dreams if you work hard enough.
So this probably isn't the review Miss Scarlet wants or match the Thought s of other readers but I feel I need to say this. Please just finish this series and let it rest. While I did enjoy reading this story, and the series as a whole, I find it is getting just a little to overwhelming. The first few books has a well planned story and theme, and matched the basis of the series which was 2 people deciding whether their beasts were too incompatible as predatory and prey or if their love was stronger. This theme lasted up until Skylar and Byron, and personally I think the series would have been good to end their. The next book takes places years later revolving around the children of the couple in the first section of books. However only the first one, Angel and Clarks story could be considered a continuation of the predator/prey dinamic. The series then goes on to introduce new species, which had previously never been mentioned before. When I read those books originally my thoughts followed the lines of "great, this will make things even more interesting as shifters and magical creatures try to find a balance". However as the series continued to progress I found that too many of the complications that occur in the books are later shown to be linked, especially when sometimes those complications were well and truly dealt with when they were first encountered and by bringing them back up it raises more questions then it solves.
Personally after reading this book, I find myself wondering if the author originally had this plan for the characters in mind to start with, or has she changed things to suit the new storyline? The main one that annoyed me is the presence of the 'oracle' and how this is a relied upon fact for several books, but in this one it turns out to all be a lie? So many flaws occur to me with that thinking. First if jay a was never really the oracle, how did she know all those things? Ok so she would know what she and her husband were planning with their forces but how could she know about things resolving around our main story characters? How could she know that baby Shea was cursed? How could she tell sterling of what decisions the shifters would make, before they were told? How could she predict when someone became pregnant?
I'm hoping now that the story is finally ended but somehow I doubt it with the way this book has ended Whitt heir still being unresolved issues, and as their were hints for a possible pairing of Kaname's younger brother.
I am Sorry if I've offended anyone but I just had to say this. This series has reached the point were it really needs to end.
Where to begin? Considering the wait I know that "I" am out of touch with all of the moving parts of this world. Some of the characters I'm like, who is that again?
This is just... there's soooo much going on. At times I had trouble following it (probably more me than the story itself). Sterling being changed into an Unseelie. The death of the most powerful shifter.. ever. (I didn't stress, there's no way that will hold up, something will effect the outcome of it). The fake pretend Oracle leading to...The 'return' of Winter's parents, who are the bad guys.
The connection between Sterling and Kieve suffered from the focus of all the outside events taking place. They spent way more time apart then together. And all the mysteriousness about the Silver Pool and events just didn't make a lot of sense to me. Am I the only one left wondering?
I'm left with a 2.5 to 3 stars..

Awesome book. This one shows how the author managed to twist all the stories and make them even more cohesive than i originally thought. It's wonderful how the author managed to create relevant stories that spanned the whole series and made them all come together on this last book.
Keep up the good work Ms. Scarlet! Definitely waiting for the next one.
It was really dificult for me to get into this story. I put it down about three times and finally forced myself to finish. It's not bad - I love Scarlet's books and this series is amazing! But this didn't resonate for me as much as other books.
Misogynistic, predictable, annoying. It feels like it is a rushed try to tie up all loose ends within the series, but for me it just didn't work. There is a torture/ mind rape scene in the book and it is not reacted upon by the other characters - in the epilogue there is a small bit of criticism regarding this act, but it is more or less brushed of. The book seemed to go on and on and it annoyed me to no end. A big problem in the whole series is the characterization of women: they're mean, arrogant bad people which alienated me to no end. It is a shame that a (I assume) female author writes a of her equally female characters this way. I probably would have given 0 stars if possibly, but the fact that the main characters didn't fuck within the fist 50pages or so was definitive an upgrade to all the other books in this series... I am very happy this is over now.
