Nicias was well on the way to making a name for himself; he was gifted with telekinesis, part of the Immortals, and one of the top soldiers in the Atlantis Fighting Forces. In a world where Atlantis thrives under a second chance at life, his only care was for his own survival. But, when the leaders of the Immortals asks him to look after a small child—to raise her and protect her abilities from the war-driven army—he had to overcome his own haunting past and focus on an innocent life. He hesitantly takes the assignment and soon learns there are deep mysteries surrounding her forgotten past. Many condemn her as a curse plaguing their community. Nicias finds himself questioning if this sweet child could possibly be the murderer everyone believes. Atlantis Cursed is a story about love and loss, hate and corruption. But, most of all, it is a story about betrayal.
BJ Kurtz has called southern Arizona home for her entire life. She fell in love with the area and wishes to call no other place home. She has been writing fiction since middle school, but as a youth she wrote a sports column for the Herald as well as developing an edition of the Cochise College magazine, The Mirage.
She wrote her first full-length fantasy novel when she was a sophomore in high school, which would later turn into the first novel in her successful Atlantis series. BJ prides herself on writing stories that question the power of human relationships while entertaining readers with the essence of paranormal and fantasy plots.
Her New Age novels are enjoyed by many types of readers of many different ages who are looking for character-driven stories that will captivate the mind. BJ spends her days inspiring the students in her classroom to break boundaries and reach for the stars, just as she currently attempts. She balances this passion of instruction, motivational speaking, and writing while featuring the beauty of this city in her recent novels.
In 2016, she earned two teaching awards. She was a top 9 finalist for the UofA/Circle K Outstanding High School Faculty Awards program as well as AFA 2016 Cochise Chapter Teacher of the Year. She is also a member of Sisters in Crime as well as the Huachuca Art Association.
I've read this book once before. I enjoyed it the first time, and I am enjoying it just as much the second time. I had the pleasure of meeting the author at a book signing. She was very nice, friendly. She told me a little bit about how she got into writing. I bought her book because the subject was interesting to me (i.e. a person turning into a wolf being the main character). I was not at all disappointed and was drawn into the story of Sylla (known as Pandora throughout most of the novel).
I really enjoyed this book. Normally I'm not a reader of this type of fiction, however, this book is beautifully written with a well thought out plot and dynamic characters. The Curse of Atlantis captured my attention with absolutely no boring or dragging moments. If you like fantasy with a heartfelt story I recommend reading this book. I look forward to reading more books from this author!
Was hard to put down. Characters were 'alive', story flowed, clearly the lost Atlantis has come back to life under B.J. Kurtz pen. Her sequel, "Zeus Defended" is on the bookshelves now, I can hardly wait to get started reading it.
