Never Me

Rate this book
I was a thief of men…a whore. Not the conventional type that got paid for sex. I was the girl you talked about in your sad inner circle. The girl you shielded your boyfriend from as you cleverly covered him with your body when I came near. I was a threat to you. Keeping him safe in your grasp was smart. One week...one incredible week was all it took to forever change me. I was NEVER going to be you … until I met HIM.

This story has the kind of blurb that jumps out at you. Once I read the blurb, I knew this was a book I wanted to read. Though the story took a bit of a different direction than I was expecting, it was one I still enjoyed.

As Nadine’s story begins, you can tell she is going to be one of those women you hate. You know who I’m talking about… the girls who only go after the unreachable guys- the guys with girlfriends. She’s not interested in more than one night with them and she’s not interested in anyone single.
I loved sex and I loved men. It wasn’t an addiction. It wasn’t a hobby. I want what wasn’t mine. No, I wanted to borrow what wasn’t mine. I gave him back to you and you were never the wiser. I was that whore.

It’s her MO. What she’s doing works for her. Or at least it did. Until she went on a road trip with her best friend and met someone who changed her life forever.

When Nadine and her best friend Rory take a trip to Florida, they meet a group of friends who immediately take them in. The four of these people, along with Rory and Nadine end up vacationing together. One of them is a guy named Spencer. Spencer knows about Nadine, the type of girl she is- but the more time he spends with her, the more he sees the real her. The girl underneath the whore she says she is. He gets her to come out of her shell and realize maybe she wants something different. Maybe she can be someone different.

“This isn’t how I usually do this.”

“Maybe times are changing for you.”

“And I think I want them to.”

I loved Spencer from the moment I met him. He was that kind of guy. Charming, sweet, funny and completely lovable. I’d like to say the same about Nadine, but I’d be lying. She was more of a complex character. In the beginning, I was leery of her. As her story continued and I got to see why she was the way she was and saw her grow and develop into someone better, I grew to love her too. It just took a while longer. I did love her by the end and I admired her for being able to break old habits, get over some things from her past and be the person she wants to be.

As Spencer and Nadine vacation together with their friends, they start to fall for one another. Even though they were just strangers it feels like so much more.

 photo 4cf7a026-855a-4c4b-a8ce-a66d0d87e521_zpsa85287e2.jpg

Although most of this story was on the lighter side (especially compared to the others other book) there were a few angsty parts, and there was a part that made me cry. I loved the connection that Spencer and Nadine shared. Even though they had an instant attraction, their relationship was a journey. It wasn’t always easy, but it was worth it.

Never Me is a story of growth, of finding yourself and realizing you are worth more. It's a story of friends that are your family, of falling in love. There's some heat, mild angst, some humor and lots of love. I really like this authors writing style. It’s easy to read and get caught up in one of her books. If you are looking for a good standalone coming of age story, pick this one up!

<4.5 Never Say Never Stars

Well, I start by saying I bought this book because of the blub alone: "I was a thief of men…a whore."

I mean hello bad girl! While I am not a fan of cheating, I was completely intrigued by the concept of a story from the other side. I had ideas in my head and I was ready to "hate" on a book character. I could not have been more wrong about what Never Me was truly about and I was beyond pleased with what Kate Stewart presented.

 photo PhotoGrid_1440302578956_zpszawg14lv.jpg

This story does have "that girl" who we all have met. "That girl" who we all fret over. Nadine is an almost 20 year old beauty who finds seducing the attached man to be her sport of choice. Don't worry though, once she has them, well it is over, and she is moving on...no emotions, no strings, and definitely not happening again.

I wanted what wasn’t mine. No, I wanted to borrow what wasn’t mine. I gave him back to you and you were never the wiser. I was that whore.

I found myself completely invested in Nadine. Her mind and heart boggled me. When she and her bff take to the road for a little livin' I knew the journey would be profound, I just didn't know that I would be even more caught up in the story once Spencer Diamond came about!

In just one week, Nadine finds someone whom she can talk to. Instead of looking for that panty dropping moment and look of want, she found herself looking for a man's time. There is no lack of lust and chemistry, but there is so much more than the "game" of past.

“Maybe sometimes we need to bare our souls and see what we see in the eyes of strangers.”

Nadine's stranger, Spencer, has an edge about him. While sassy and smart, he is both tender and dominant at the same time. Instead of giving Nadine the instant gratification, he takes on the task of showing and giving her "better." Slowly a relationship develops with intense sexual tension and complex emotions as both Nadine and Spencer open up their hearts to the new possibilities...

I also see a women who is starving for the right kind of attention, but would never know because she’s never had it.

...even if those possibilities were outside of each others arms...

“Kiss me goodbye, Nadine, and go hit all your levels. Go take over and do all the shit you were meant to. Just know it’s okay to trust and get hurt, or you aren’t living at all.”

So much in just seven days...but years for it all to be ok. Like I stated...this book is not what it appears to be. Even though my expectations were totally wrong, I loved it. This was very emotional and quite romantic. There was no insta-love yet the sex was both scorching and so touching. Spencer both dominated Nadine and cared for her. He pushed her then pulled to close. He pleasured her, but he cared for her like no man has ever done.

This is my 2nd Kate Stewart book and I am finding her to be an automatic Good Read for me. I really like her writing. Her stories are always unique, and her romance, well be prepared to swoon hard b and pant harder!!!

3.5 SECOND CHANCE STARS!

GOODREADS!!! I need HALF stars!

Had I reviewed this book based on the first half and my opinion of it...things would have been very different. But surprisingly enough, the second half was just lovely and totally changed this book for me. This is NA, a genre I'm increasingly hesitant about but it didn't necessarily fit all the typical NA tropes. To begin with, our heroine, Nadine is a self-professed whore. YEP! That's right. She only chases unavailable men, in other words those who are taken. She relishes in this and justifies her Nasty behavior by maintaining that each man and subsequent girlfriend/wife deserve the betrayal. But this isn't normal behavior right? Right.

A trip with her best friend and only friend, Rory to Florida soon changes everything for Nadine. She's always been in control, always held each and every sexual encounter in the palm of her hands. She hates other women and the other women hate her. She's a beautiful girl we're told but we're also left to wonder why she does what she does. Enter Spencer Diamond. He is the catalyst in which Nadine's life takes a drastic turn. A week away from her tightly controlled life changes things for her and Rory. Spencer has friends with him and soon this motley crew of individuals become like family.
There's an almost instant and deep connection between Nadine and Spencer. Nadine doesn't want the distraction but Spencer persists and she soon finds herself questioning the way she's chosen to live her life. But she has walls in place, trust issues, love issues, skeletons in her closet, a burning need to Protect herself. By weeks end they both have true feelings for each other, but things are in the way. Can Nadine change? Can she have a future with the one man that has breached her barriers?

So... I didn't like Nadine for the majority of this book. Aside from the obvious whorish behavior, what I disliked about her didn't have much to do with that. I found her selfish, abrupt, rude and often justifying things with backwards thinking. Her issues and sleeping around with taken men stemmed from a traumatic event I won't get into, but It didn't seem plausible to me. But the second half, she turned it around and by the end I came to actually like her. She matured greatly and atoned for her despicable behavior.
Spencer was beautiful from the beginning. I felt his frustration with Nadine and thought he was a saint putting up with her antics. I completely understood why things were left the way they were, he was a fantastic hero and I have nothing bad to say about him at all. All the secondary characters were wonderful additions as well and Rory was a fantastic friend through and through.

So what happened in the second half or more accurately the last 40%? The book just turned around! The first half seemed a bit slow, the back and forth between Nadine and Spencer a little monotonous. There was all this sexual tension followed by sex then more bickering then repeat. But the last 40%, things turned more emotional, the depth of the story deepened and I felt anxious trying to finish. I started liking Nadine and rooting for her HEA. It was angsty but not overly dramatic and drawn out. It completely changed how I saw this book. The epilogue was touching and almost brought tears to my eyes.
After all that was said and done, I loved how this ended and happy with how it all turned around for me. Definitely recommended for NA lovers.

☆☆☆☆☆ 5 You Are My Stranger Stars☆☆☆☆☆

OK Kate Stewart, I think you could write a crossword puzzle and I would absolutely love it.

Flawless story of flawed characters finding who they are in this world.

 photo PicsArt_11-08-07.52.17_zpsff4eyddz.jpg

"It was simple. I loved sex and I loved men. It wasn’t an addiction. It wasn’t a hobby. I wanted what wasn’t mine. No, I wanted to borrow what wasn’t mine. I gave him back to you and you were never the wiser. I was that whore.

Nadine is young and wreckless with her body. Never wanting any emotion tied to a man. She took the man of her picking and got what she wanted, sexual gratification covering up a deep longing of needing to be loved, but she doesn't realize this. Not until her and BFF Rory embark on the road trip of all road trips.

 photo PicsArt_11-08-08.04.59_zpsaqscq0em.jpg

Meeting Spencer was just to be a week filled with fun and games. There was never any intention of having feelings. Nadine wanted Spencer, Spencer wanted Nadine. Neither of them want to admit that their connection is more, SO MUCH MORE.

"I don't think I am going to survive you," he whispered.

"I don't think you should keep starting something you won't finish."

Spencer and Nadine ' s feelings are strong. Spencer has known from the start that Nadine has won any game they were playing. He wants all of her. Nadine keeps fighting all feelings that have consumed her. She has to keep the game playing, or her heart will take the ultimate pain.

Their game is fun, passionate and filled with so much heat, everything around them is burned by their desire.

I was drunk on his kiss.

 photo 880221_zpsn6s4qsnv.gif

Every touch seemed so natural and so right. His kiss was deafening, though the only sound around were the waves playing their melody.

Until their game must end....life steps back into play.

Going their own ways, Spencer and Nadine say goodbye.

“You are the perfect stranger,” he whispered back, brushing my lips with his. I started shaking as his eyes bore into mine. “My perfect stranger.”

Life and bad timing step in and Spencer and Nadine are kept apart for several years, until tragedy for Spencer finally opens his eyes to the past he should have never let go of.

Fun, young love ends only to be reunited as a more mature man and woman who's love never strayed from what it wanted and needed to finally be complete.

Miss Stewart....you are the master of writing a tale of love!!

4.5 “My perfect stranger” STARS

“Maybe sometimes we need to bare our souls and see what we see in the eyes of strangers.”

The premise of a self-professed slut targeting taken men for one night stands had me all in. This was my kind of book. Yet, I thought I knew how it would unfold. I was so wrong but that’s okay because that was one of the things that I really liked about this story.

 photo NM_zpsd554590d.jpg

Nadine Rhodes sees life as her against the world. She’s alienates herself from others with thick, impenetrable walls of indifference and uses sex as her weapon of choice. Her one true friend, Rory, is a quirky, fun-loving stripper who never judges Nadine despite not fully understanding her.

At first, I was not too sure if I was going to like Nadine. As I read the first few chapters and saw her in action with her latest conquest, I wondered if I’d be able to connect with her. It wasn’t because she was a whore, heck men are whores all the time and don’t get grief! It was more that she seemed distant and cold. But, slowly, Nadine grew on me and as the story unfolded, she matured, slowly decimated her walls and shed her wanton ways. By the end, I admired her and really liked her.

The story begins with Nadine and Rory taking a road trip to the beach, Pensacola, where they meet a group of four from Philadelphia.

Among the group is Spencer Diamond. Like Nadine, I was drawn to him instantly. He was that perfect mix of sexy, witty with a bit of a dominant edge yet, he was also sweet and tender. I fell for Spencer immediately.

While it’s obvious that Spencer and Nadine have wicked chemistry, it was not insta-love. Thanks goodness!

Their relationship was complex and not always pleasant but, their attraction slowly grew into something more. Something real and beautiful.

“I don’t think I’m going to survive you.”

“Kiss me goodbye, Nadine, and go hit all your levels. Go take over and do all the shit you were meant to. Just know it’s okay to trust and get hurt, or you aren’t living at all.”

 photo NM2_zps2e6b74b2.jpg

“I like the way I look on you.”

This story was well written and all the characters were real and likable. As I joined them on this journey, I felt like I was a part of their group and as we travelled from the beach to New Orleans, they grew to feel like family. This was a sweet story that most can relate to in some way. Have you ever met a stranger that you instantly felt comfortable stripping yourself (emotionally) bare to? That you connected with like you’d known each other in another place and time? That you just felt you could trust even though you couldn't explain why?

This was a coming of age; discovering yourself; falling in love story that had me laughing, wringing my hands in angst, had butterflies invading my stomach, and tears spilling from my eyes. This was a fast, easy and compelling read that it definitely worth checking out.

Never Me by Kate Stewart
4.5 stars!!

“I’m not the guy who gets you, Nadine.” His voice was shaking like mine. I looked up to see his face twisted. “I’m not the one. As much as I want to be, I am not the guy who gets you.”

From the blurb you think that Nadine is going to be one of those girls you hate but nothing could be further from the truth. Nadine has loved once…a mistake that she will never repeat again. What happened in her past is staying firmly in her past, but has she really dealt and moved on, or is her current modus operandi a security blanket that just masks her pain? Has she really dealt and moved on?

Nadine goes on a road trip with her best friend and this means fresh meat for Nadine! A get away from it all holiday is just what these two need to unwind and let go. It is while on this trip that Nadine and Rory bump into another group, they all hang around together and this is where Nadine meets Spencer.

“And what I want is every inch of you covered in me. I want you to remember me…you will remember me”

Spencer was totally and utterly adorable; he was lawyer and could see right through Nadine. He knew that she was hiding something and he wanted to prove to her that she was capable of so much more. She didn’t need to be the person she was portraying; she just needed to be Nadine. Spencer was just perfect, as I said above adorable, charming, cute, interesting and at times hilarious. He manages to worm his way in with Nadine, he treads cautiously and they soon become firm friends, sharing private moments, their pasts, their secrets he manages to totally open her up.

“I don’t think I’m going to survive you,” he whispered. “I don’t think you should keep starting something you won’t finish.” “I don’t think you know who the hell I am yet.” He grinned at me with challenging and confident eyes. “Likewise.”

This is just a road trip though, a holiday…can what they found here be it for them? They each have their own lives ahead of them; they have their jobs and their own life. These two may just be the band aids that they both needed to make them see that what they were settling for was not enough, maybe they both need something more, maybe they both deserve something more and even (gasp!) they want something more. Maybe, just maybe it wasn’t their time, the stars are not aligned, and fate and destiny have other ideas.

“…There is nothing more profound, nor will there ever be, than your place in the heart of the woman you love.”

This is a story about finding yourself, growing up, second chance love and leaning to trust. Finding that person whom you trust completely and stripping yourself back to the bare bones. It is angsty, it is funny, you will laugh and you will cry but you will also fall in love with a bunch of characters that will steal your heart. It is a page turner, fast paced and will keep you captivated from start to finish and if you are anything like me, you will want more! To me their story is just beginning, I have had the appetiser and the main course, now I want the dessert.

“Kiss me goodbye, Nadine , and go hit all your levels. Go take over and do all the shit you were meant to. Just know it’s okay to trust and get hurt, or you aren’t living at all.”

I didn't want this one to end and I still WANT MORE!! Another book where it ends when their journey is really just beginning...please Kate write MORE!!! I loved this book from start to finish, seriously addictive writing, intense chemistry and a unique story that will ensure you will be left like me, just wanting MORE. I LOVED Spencer and Nadine, destiny and fate were being cussed throughout this book, you couldn't help but will them to be together. My only slight niggle, is there are a few typo’s etc, but this is no way took away my enjoyment from reading this book.

So she says she is a whore not the paid type but the type that f**ks for sport.

Her favourite game is to go after other women’s men a bit like fishing. With no moral compass she casts her line, she hooks them and winds them in. Last count she had netted 17 men.

Then she meets Spencer Thomas Diamond, a lawyer and a very different fish. She makes it clear to Spencer what her end game is she'll only have him once and then she will walk away until she hooks the next one. But no matter what bait she used on Spencer he doesn’t bite.

Spencer sees right through Nadine and casts a very different line to the one she has thrown him. He sees a woman starving for the right kind of attention. He talks to her, gets to know the real Nadine and they end up sharing deep secrets. Spencer discovers that at 16, young and vulnerable Nadine thinks she is in love. She gives her innocence to the person she believed she loved only for him to rip her innocence apart, hurt and healing herself in the wrong way.

So game on. He nets her, hook, line and sinker.

I made the mistake of starting reading Never Me at 9 p.m. and found it hard to put it down but by 1.30 a.m. I had to give it up as I was having a Ben Turpin moment (crossed eyes) . At 10 a.m I closed the last page with a smile.

Having read Titan and Room 212 (both very different books) my biggest challenge writing this review was finding the right words to describe this story.

Kate Stewart has crafted a very fulfilling storyline that gave me some great laugh out loud moments, great characters, a warm and tender romance with some hot and heavy passionate moments.

Never and forever are both infinite words alternative in meaning but both just as meaningful. How many times have we said them and how passionately do we feel about them when they cross our lips? Nadine was a 'whore ' a thief of men. She was never going to love a man, never going to trust, never going to be a woman in love. She was never going to let a man hold her heart in his hands until she met Spencer. Spencer became her never and forever.

I loved it!

4-4.5 ⭐'s

“You are the perfect stranger.”

“My perfect stranger.”

This book totally slipped through my fingers but I was so lucky to see it mentioned on social media. Of course, I had to check it out and I was immediately sucked in.

Nadine doesn't do "relationships", in fact, she gets off on seducing any unavailable man and then loves him and leaves him.

After getting some money from her Dad, she decides to take a break and go to the ocean. Her best friend, Rory, comes with her and she is a hoot!

Having never seen the ocean before, when she does, Nadine dives right in...figuratively. That's when she meets Spencer...and Amy, Jake and Ellie. They all hit it off and decide to hang out together.

It was amazing and maybe a little unrealistic how well everyone got along. I mean Ellie has it bad for Spencer but she's okay with Nadine being with him and even wants to hear details...what?!

They spend some amazing time together and then it's time to go home...and that's it. They don't really stay in touch. Spencer and Nadine thought it would be best since they live in different states.

However, three months later, an attempt is made...

I really enjoyed these guy's banter but they were also really sweet together.

It was interesting to see how much Kate Stewart has grown as an author. With this earlier work, she still laid out all the little things and she had the ability to draw you in. However, her flow isn't as great as it is now.

Still, well done. It was definitely a story I enjoyed and I'm glad it got my notice.

Nadine is not your typical girl. She’s not one that is going to get caught up in her feelings or games of the heart. She has her own code she lives by. No strings and men that are completely unavailable. She is not the typical heroine that I’d fall in love with. But, it’s pretty hard not to. When a bit of money lands in her lap, what better way to spend it than a road trip to the coast.

In moments as she is splashing in the Atlantic Ocean she captures the attention of Spencer. With her best friend, Rory, Nadine finds herself drawn to the group of friends traveling with Spencer. A man that although carries her attention, is so not her type. But with the fresh ocean air, Nadine is realizing that she needs to change her life, change the way she lives it. She wants more out of it. And slowly she is realizing she wants him.

Spencer is struggling with making his own life changes. On a vacation with his friends, he is able to break free of the stress of his family and his career. His attraction to Nadine is immediate, even if he sees here for so much more than what she feels she’s worth. I think I fell in love with Spencer while he was simply a stranger standing in the water watching Nadine. I was a goner.

As the group becomes friendlier with each other, they decide to take the show on the road and continue the fun together. But Nadine and Spencer continue to dance around their growing attraction both wanting the other to give in first, both wanting the other one to resist so they can protect their hearts. But all good things must come to an end. And for both Nadine and Spencer, this was just a break from reality. They both have lives in their respective states and time is just running out.

Never Me was an emotional journey that took two people that had a chance encounter and fell hopelessly in love at the wrong moment while living the wrong life. It’s a story of love, friendship and an education in life. Although there is angst (which I expected), and tears (lots and lots and lots of tears), I was just overcome with so much happiness as I closed this book. I loved watching these characters grow into their own skin and traverse the struggles of being a young adult. A complete coming of age romance that hits all the must have spots for a romance.

I picked up my first Kate Stewart book earlier this year and fell in absolute love with it. I have since read every book she has available and just can’t get enough. She writes the kind of books that make you feel, everything. And even if I want to pull my hair out at times, I can’t deny how much I love these characters. I can’t wait to get my hands on her next release because I know it will be yet another stunning read.

Different for sure . . . but it grabbed me and wouldn't let go. I definitely did not love it -- but I couldn't hate it either. Like is even stretching it a bit. Still, it was just one of those books that attaches itself to a reader and won't let go until The End. And that's what earned this book the full three stars. I struggled between 2.5 and 3.0 because there were too many simple and sloppy editing problems -- but I was feeling kindly and generous towards these beaten down characters.

Two broken spirited strangers magnetically drawn to each other. A one-week vacation that is eye-opening for both. It changes them both. And then they retreat to their own corners of the world. It takes several years before the re-meet and time has changed them both, but only strengthened the feelings between them.

And that's all I'm saying. I wish there had been more of their matured adult portion, along with the happy-ever-after part of the story. Readers will get an epilogue that works well, has some funny and witty banter and left me partially satisfied.

It's official! After reading all of Kate Stewart's books I can easily say she's one my favorite authors. She kills me every time and I take pleasure in it, because I have faith in her and her writing. No matter how unappealing or flawed her heroine/hero is or the how story takes its twist and turns, I know it will all be worth it.

Nadine definitely had her flaws and insecurities. She had her own ways to get laid. The attached and unavailable, so she could get rid of them without no expectations for more. I was actually intrigued by her ways and her views on sex and let's not forget herself. Her friendship with Rory was beautiful and honest.
I loved their road trip and what it lead them to. The four other people they met was as important as they were. I immersed myself in their joy and adventures.

Her involvement with Spencer consumed me and I loved the change her brought out of Nadine. As much as Nadine frustrated me with her attitude and wrong ways, I also enjoyed it because I could feel the turmoil and change she was going through within herself.
This was a different love story but beautiful none the less. I loved every single character and their story. Kate Stewart is an expert in creating complex and flawed characters and then making them likable and relatable.
This is why I love reading. To escape in the story and its characters. Loose myself and follow wherever it takes me.

Kate Stewart does it again!!! She always delivers a story that is touching!! Her settings and characters are so vibrant and so strong - I just love the fierceness of it all!! This book was a definite 4++ stars. I've loved all her books thus far, and I am enjoying going through each and every one. This is probably one of her oldest novels, written back in 2014. She really had a handle on this genre even back in the day when the NA romance was breaking through.

I absolutely loved Nadine and her friend Rory - they were a funny chaotic mess. And I really came to love the friendship that formed between the whole group of characters! The Game that Spencer and Nadine played was intoxicating and to add in the beach setting and the NOLA trip - I could just feel the sand and touch the salty breeze. I could also feel every insecurity and hurt, yet take in all the connections and love!! Seriously Kate Stewart is masterful!!!

Nadine Rhodes is a whore. She is the self-professed Grinch of Love. She meticulously stalks her prey, carefully chooses the next notch on her belt and does so with enough flair, style and sex appeal that you can’t help but admire her for it. She is a gift to man, beautiful, sexy and only looking for one night - that’s all these men ever get with her, just one night with no strings attached. She only ever targets guys who are attached, guys who are looking for something that will send them right back to their significant other and make things work better than ever before. She sounds like a bitch right? You’re probably wondering why you’re reading my review on this book, much less why you should pick up a copy of it to read for yourself. Well let me tell you why you should...

Nadine Rhodes is a 19 year old girl - she is on a journey of self-discovery, finding out who she is under the reinforced steel wall she has built around her feelings. Her vow of “never me,” - never being that girl that is helplessly, stupidly in love has kept her safe from hurt from years. But one night stands (no matter how hot or sexy they are), are beginning to take a toll on her. She wants to experience more. Embarking on a road trip with her best friend Rory, leads to life-changing events. Events that awaken feelings she’s protected, emotions she’s refused to feel. Even when a forbiddenly sexy man makes it his mission to beat her at her own game.

Spencer Diamond. On a road trip with 3 close friends, the last thing he ever imagined to find was a frustratingly beautiful, headstrong, untouchable girl splashing about in the ocean a few feet away from him. Captivated, he can’t resist getting to know her better. However, she has other ideas - Nadine is in no way the type of girl that “dates.” Their cat and mouse game follows the 6 of them from Florida to New Orleans, as new friendships are formed and the sexual tension between Spencer and Nadine reaches unbelievable heights. Determined to court her and force her to finally feel something real, Spencer is not a man that easily surrenders. And Nadine is definitely a prize he wants to win.

Kate Stewart is a gifted writer. The emotions she brings out in her readers is overwhelming - the humor, heartbreak, sadness, loss. I could go on and on...I am so emotionally attached to this book and the characters. Nadine broke my heart over and over, the more she trusted Spencer, the more she unlocked the pieces of her soul. I was in tears while she re-lived her past, I was crying from laughter as she crossed things off her “to-do” list on the trip (goddamn brilliant addition to each chapter by the way). I mean, come on... “luggage cock block,” - its genius and you will agree with me when you read that part ;)

I can’t say much more except that I adored this book. It captured my heart, its one of those books I can’t get off my mind. I was rooting for both Spencer and Nadine to win the game in their own way. To become more than just perfect strangers that crossed each other’s paths on a whirlwind vacation. From the beginning of the book to the end, it truly is a story of a young girl’s life - a story of how the paths we choose can forever alter the course of our lives.

Nadine Rhodes is not a whore. She is a girl searching for her own revelation. Step into her story and discover if she finds it.

5 Bucket List Stars

This book is freaking awesome. Done. Said. End.

Do you have a list of things you want to accomplish before you "go"? You know a bucket list of things to do? Or maybe you just keep a mental list of the cool things you have accomplished.....
Been to the Iditarod....check
Climbed Mt Vesuvius.....check
Given birth with no pain meds.....check

Not sure why I did that last one. Kinda stupid in hind sight but I was determined that if women could give birth picking cotton I could do it in a hospital. Surrounded by fireman. But that's another story.

Nadine has her own bucket list. She has graduated from college at 19. Ok, so we know she's smart. She is still talking to and cares about her dad who is pretty absent from her life. Ok, so we know she is kind and forgiving. She sleeps with other women's boyfriends to just because she can. Ok, so we know she is a whore. And she owns it.

All the candidates I had were cheaters and I was the temptress, which made me hypocrite, but I would rather be the other woman than ever be the woman who waited. That would never be me.

When Nadine and her bestie, Rory (a stripper with a heart of gold), go on vacation, they just want a few days at the beach to unwind and get away from their lives. Nadine is rethinking her Catch and Release Program she has had going on.

I am a villain. I am a villain and I enjoy it. Or I did.

Spencer is a super sexy lawyer who has not been exactly celibate back in Philly. He and his friends find Nadine and Rory to be fun and immediately take them into their group. The more the merrier, right? Spencer is under no illusions about Nadine. She tells him about her "Sex For Sport" ways right up front.

I'm just another one, Nadine, remember that. I mean nothing.

Nadine, Spencer and the crew have a great vacation full of beaches, drinking, transvestites, hangovers, road trips, whispered confessions, near hook ups, muggings, sexual frustration, and pillow talk. Nadine has so many things to cross off her bucket list. But as all vacations do....it must end.

I'm not the guy who gets you, Nadine....I'm not the one.

But does that mean its over? Can they really walk away and leave what they have found in the sand? Do they make it a work or just make it memory?

Nadine and Spencer are both searching for something that is their own. They want to find that special something that was meant just for them. They have used their lack of relationships to prove to themselves that they were independent. But what happens when they want to be dependent. Want what they see other people have but don't know how to have themselves? Was this just a fling? Or something more?

I absolutely loved this book. Read it with some Tums handy because it will give you a stomach ache. From laughing and from the angst. This is Ms Stewart's second novel and she is already hitting her stride. This is a fun, snarky, sexy, drama filled read.

Do yourself a favor and mark "Read Kate Stewart" off your bucket list. Now on to sky diving!

Never me. A very beautiful story. I did hesitate at fist with this one bc of the blurb. Not a fan of cheaters But don't let that stop you. That is a very small part of the book.

Nadine

Is a super sexy woman and she knows it. She uses that very weapon against men. Men of her choice of course. She sees them. With their girlfriends. Baits them, hooks them, and reels them in. One night with her. All she wants is that look. The look of pure heat/ lust/ and wanting for her.

She gets a little extra cash from daddy-o and grabs her funny stripper BFF and goes on a roadtrip. She had never seen the ocean before so they head to Florida.

Where she meets Spencer

A super hot lawyer on a road trip with some of his friends.

He wants her and she is attempting to not be a slut on this trip and maybe turn things around. They all become best friends and decide to continue the road trip together and go to New Orleans.

Nadine and Spence are constantly playing games with each other. They both want each other but are stuck trying to win the match. Spencer ends up wanting to try to show her there is more than just wanting men for sex. she isn't ready to believe that is for her. But he kinda tries and she kinda gives in.

Constant attraction and heat between the two. Always getting hot and bothered.
sexy couple photo: sexy couple ab_iwantyou48.gif

Their little crew becomes like a family.

Nadine and Spencer wind up together, in many ways. He helps her discover relationships aren't the devil and it's ok to let people in.

This story really showed the changes in the main characters. Maturing, falling in love, self discovery. It was beautiful to read. I love the way Nadine and Spencer challenged each other. The love they obviously shared but couldn't admit.

You feel every emotion the character's go through.
I loveddddd the ending.

Absolutely unforgettable!!! There are not enough stars for this one. If the first line don't get you, nothing will! I loved this book. I don't like to say too much and give everything away but "Never Me" will keep you on the edge of your seat. At one point, I was screaming at the book, "No, No! You have got to be kidding me!" It's a must read and a recommend to all!! I loved that it was NOT a cliffhanger! Thank you, Kate. I don't think My heart could have taking it. Awesome, awesome job! It's right up there on my list to read over and over!

ARC provided...Slight spoilers.

Sounds good right?

This book was so much more than that blurb.

Nadine (h) is a selfish girl, she uses men and tosses them out when she's done; always pursuing the taken ones. She gets a thrill from it and treats it like a game. She is beautiful and knows it. After graduating college her wealthy father gifts her some money, so she pays off her debt and decides to take a road trip to see the ocean with Rory her best friend (her only friend) and her mind set to try and leave her ways behind. That is until she meets him and they start a little game of their own.

Spencer (H) takes a trip with his closest friends to take a break from work pressure and caring for his alcoholic father. He spots a girl running into the ocean fully clothed and he is captivated by her and her beauty.

The two groups form a tight bond quickly spending their week together in Florida and New Orleans. Things start to heat up between Spencer and Nadine and she finds herself breaking all of her rules.

I don't want to write too much more and spoil it but this book was truly amazing. You got to see a nineteen year old girl grow mentally and mature to a woman. You slowly begin to like her, and I'm telling you in the beginning I thought I would hate Nadine. But just like her character she grows on you and the author does a great job of portraying that.

I'm not a big fan of instant love...like after a week or a few days the characters are madly in love. A few months I can do but this book worked for me because the love grew with the characters. I also love a little angst in a book and this is just what it was, a little, not too much where I wanted to throw my Kindle out the window and stop reading but just enough to keep me going and intrigued.

I highly recommend this book and already told my fellow reader friends about it.

Thank you to the author for providing me a copy of this wonderful story.

Sometimes you going into a book thinking you know exactly how it’s going to go but then it somehow surprises you. Never Me was that type of book for me. It was a love story that built up slowly and before I knew it, it sucked me in. I so loved Nadine and Spencer and I even teared up at one point.

Nadine is young, beautiful, smart, and a self-proclaimed whore. She doesn’t do relationships. She doesn’t have men peruse her, she “invites” them to her and she uses them for one night and then she’s done. She only has her dad and her best friend Rory in her life and she doesn’t keep any friends. She’s happy with her life as it is and never really wanted more.

When her and Rory, decide to take a road trip to Florida, they meet a group of friends who are also traveling and they all quickly become close. The group decides to travel together for the rest of their trip. One of the people she meets is Spencer, and from the moment they meet there is a spark between them. I loved Spencer. He was sexy, fun, and made her laugh. Spencer had his own issues and hurt both him and Nadine were like in a many ways.

 photo NeverMeCharacterpic.jpg

The longer she spends with Spencer and his friends she begins to grow closer to them. For the first time she feels she belongs. The more time she spends with Spencer, Nadine begins to question herself and her motives. He wants her and she wants him but Spencer wants it to be more than just sex. I loved the sexual tension between them. They both challenged each other and pushed each other buttons. No matter how much she wants to deny her feelings they were there.

I knew they were both falling for each other but there was a certain scene where I literally felt it. I wanted them together but their time together was short. I didn’t know if Nadine could really change, would they go their separate ways, or would they try to stay together? I loved this story, it had a bit of a slow start but it was really drew me in. I loved the characters and I could see they were beginning to grow and change. This was great coming of age story and Kate wrote it beautifully. Though I didn’t expect this ended I thoroughly enjoyed it.

4.5 Blown away that I liked this as much as I did. I wasn't expecting to love it. I expected it would be a decent read, it was, and it was MORE! STARS

WOWOWOWOWOW- serious reaction after I finished.

This book was almost like whiplash. The blurb does NOTHING for what this book truly is about. Honestly the cover and ratings is the reason I read it bc the blurb did not pull me to read it and even now after I've finished, the blurb is still nothing except one word

- HIM.
Three letter word says it all!!!!

I can't even form a review that would explain what the book is about to get you to read it. I can only tell you my feelings- besides I loved it. Loved the writing, the friendships. The journey. The trip. When it started to get angsty is when my heart rate started rising. I was worried. I didn't and couldn't figure out how things would get back on track. I just NEEDED them to be on track.

By my gushing above you'd think I would have rated this a 5 right???? I will be 100% honest, towards the middle-ish I did skim some. Not much but it was once things happened I was rushing to get to the next part. I even think the part that the synopsis hints to could be nixed and reworked. I get the reasoning, to show and all but I could have had all those pages of Spencer :)

Oh I haven't told you about Spencer lol, if I started talking about HIM I'd give all the good stuff away!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Excellent freaking book!!!

A new author to me, the blurb for this book was intriguing, and what hooked me to dive in.

Nadine was a thief of men. Not the kind to steal and run, but to invite wanton eyes into her web and play for a while, before returning them.

She made a decision to go on a road trip with her good friend, Rory, where they meet a group of friends that they immediately engage with. They follow them to other destinations, having fun, making memories, breaking down barriers and just being themselves.

One of the boys in the group, Spencer, takes a shine to Nadine, and their story starts as they spend the summer together.

I did enjoy this unique story about trust, love, and acceptance. The hook that had landed me wasn’t explored too much more in the book though, but concentrated more on a fairly repetitive, drunken road trip, and Nadine’s negative feelings towards herself. Spencer had seen through her promiscuousness and wanted the inner girl to shine.

I adored the last couple of chapters, and wished they had got to that point in the future earlier on, but hey ho.

I really didn't connect with any of the characters and being honest...I didn't really fall for Spencer. He was hot and really cute at times but, I don't know, he didn't make me fall in love with him.
BUT I absolutely loved how it was the girl who was the 'playboy' in the story not the guy. A change from the cliche playboy guy sh*t. Nadine was all no strings attached one night stand kind of girl. Her reason for only going for taken guys was low and sh*tty but whatever. When Spencer said this though...
"Stop it. Just stop it. It's okay for men to use women. It's not okay for you to use men. Deal with it."
Well you asshat asshole mother f*cker I'll show you!!! That honestly made me so mad! Like it's okay for men to go around using women because...'they're men'...but women can't do it because it's unladylike and sluttly or some bullsh*t. Using people is not okay period, FOR BOTH MEN AND WOMEN. Men are not justified for it. It's wrong on both ends Spencer you sexist mother f*cker. I would've punched his nose and kicked his damn balls in. ARRRGGHHH.
If this is how people think...what is wrong with the world???

Not sure why but I never expected this one to top Room 212 but it certainly exceeding all my expectations.

Loved all the characters especially Spencer who was my absolute favourite he is everything you dream of and more, much more.

Nadine is 19 and uses other women's men for just sex and nothing else she considers it a sport, her outlook on life, love and romance completely changes after she meets Spencer, damn he would change anyone's life.

Spencer foolishly lets her slip away after spending the best week of his life with her. They eventually find each other a few years later and it's a reunion that one won't forget.

I have had so many lol moments reading this book my most memorable one is "Guys, go and don't let the door hit ...................... " now that would be spoiling it if I added the rest.

Brilliant definitely a must read

Five stars for Nadine and Spencer

I read this one on a whim and I'm really glad I did. both Spencer and Nadine were both beautiful lead character's, each in their own way.
We meet Nadine when she is both young and lost. She will only sleep with men who have girlfriends and only once. Having just graduated college at the young age of 19, her father gifts her enough money to take a vacation. so she pays off her best friend Rory's rent as well as her own, and off they go.
This is where she meets Spencer. He is intriguing and attempts to pull at her in a deeper way than most. Not to mention very hot! I do not want to tell too much but this book is an adventure. An adventure in real life experiences, finding yourself as well as finding love.

For starters let's just say that this book has one of the most sketchiest descriptions ever, I was concerned I wouldn't like this book but well it turned out to be a good read.
I really liked the book, it's really light, enjoyable and fun. I really liked how the whore met her match and he put her off her game for good and God bless Spencer for that.
I don't have a lot to say about this book except it's one of the good reads and I rated it with 4.5 stars.
