Why He Jumped by Gilbert Blythe was very well written. I had high hopes going into the series and although it wasn't a tear-jerker for me as it appeared to be for everyone else, (which is why I knocked off half a star) I thoroughly enjoyed reading it.

It follows the story of a teenager named Matthew and how him and his friends deal with the suicide of someone close to them all. It goes on to show the grieving process that takes place after someone commits suicide, and how certain people are left to think that they could have done more when that's not always possible. It also shows that words really do hurt and something you say could result in a tragedy.

The subject matter really touched me and I appreciated that about the book. I really liked how creative the author was with his words and vocabulary and it didn't feel like any of the characters were "faking it." I also loved the two small plot twists in the story revolving around Oliver and Adam. The author did a great job at making things "believable."

I'll definitely go on to read the prequel.

I read this book for the first time when I was about 15 and to this day I think about it often. It is one of the greatest books I have read till this day. The way it was written, every clue, every chapter; it all fit.

I cried. And cried. And cried. Chapter one, I cried. Chapter two, I cried. Chapter three, I cried... Every chapter, I cried like a baby. I was bawling, quite literally as I read this.

It's written so well that I almost forgot I was just reading a book. I could actually imagine being in the narrator, Matt's shoes. I could imagine being in Oliver's shoes. I could imagine myself in Adam's shoes. Their situations may all be different, and their all going through separate feelings but for each one of them I can actually feel the hurt and the pain when I try and imagine it.

It's so realistic, it's just like I'm reading Matt's diary. The feelings are just so well channeled out in this story, that I will say that it's a very life-changing book. At least to me it was. After reading it, you don't know how long I just sat there crying and thinking about how life is both so cruel but so beautiful. In Adam's last moments life was cruel and merciless to him and that was when I lost it. I also can't imagine how it's like for Matt, how it's like for him to lose his best friend like that. I don't know how Oliver, who loved Adam dearly could have dealt with the lose.

This was honestly a breath-taking book. It was so tragic, but so beautiful. It made me cry, but it also made me happy at the end when Matt began to move on.

There are no words to describe just how much I love this book. I'm practically speechless.

The story was mostly conversation and not much describing of details and whereabouts of characters were done, but I loved it because it made me feel something and there was something weirdly compelling about the writing. It was tragic and beautiful.

At first I didn't cry. I managed not to cry until chapter nineteen.
It's just so well written I can feel everyone's emotions.
Goddamn, I'm crying again.

This book got me when I just read the title, and it did have a great premise. But I have to say the writing wasn't that good and the middle chapters were kind of filler. The ending was good, but the characters weren't that fleshed out for me to care much.
