Peace Control Officer Shaina and her work partner Tyson infiltrate the kinky infamous Pleasure Palace on Syrus Six in order to find and save a lost boy. The mission is definitely dangerous and nobody will feel safe at any time since all their actions are recorded and Shaina and Tyson are requested to perform several acts that they don’t enjoy. Moreover Tyson has been in love with Shaina since forever. The only reason he joined the mission was to protect her and now he has to go against his nature in order to act his role. Shaina is too innocent and too hesitant and this will cause many troubles for both of them.
The book was in my radar for quite a while. I am a huge fun of the Kindred Brides series by this author and this book reminded me this series a lot. I believe it was written before the Kindred series and thus I did not find it as polished as her other sci-fi erotica books. But still it is a wonderful story. Very imaginative and very erotic.

Ok story, but I didn't like the heroine.
I was also angry with the author toward the end, which I describe below under spoilers. Several ideas in this story reminded me of some previously published books written by Jaid Black: The Empress' New Clothes and stories set in the underground Viking world. The ideas were good, but Jaid Black did them better. Some ideas that were similar were: humans sold on the auction block as pleasure slaves or wives, a world that required women to wear see through clothing, and sex acts in public being the norm and expected. I have no problem with authors writing about similar characters and plots, for example, there are thousands of books about vampires and werewolves. It's just that in this case, I kept thinking about the way Jaid wrote.
CAUTION SPOILERS:
I did not like Shaina, the heroine. She is a recently trained cop. She volunteers for undercover work, but she is incompetent at it. She loses her weapon on her first assignment and needs to be rescued by Ty (the hero). On her second assignment, she almost blows her cover due to being nervous (pg 109 & 114). She is a virgin. She is shy, embarassed and nervous about sex. She knows she must do sexual things in public for this assignment but she keeps saying to Ty "please don't hurt me, you won't hurt me will you?" She reminds me of a shrinking violet growing up in the 1950's. Not at all appropriate for a cop. She is so irresponsible that she forgot to get her birth control shot before their trip. This was a mandatory birth control law and not just personal preference. She and Ty had to do something sexual in public to keep their cover. It is recorded and played back at breakfast the next day for all the guests, which is normal on this planet. She is embarassed, and again almost blows her cover. She immediately leaves the room, and this means Ty doesn't get any breakfast. She is inconsiderate toward Ty. On another occasion, she does something to Ty which turns him on, then she says to him in her shy way "I'm so sorry I don't know what got into me" (pg 81). Shaina and Ty have been injected with symbiots which means they can read each others' thoughts. Shiana desires Ty physically, she knows that he knows this, yet she keeps denying it out loud to him. This is lying for no good reason. I did not enjoy reading about her.
I was angry to see this author using one of my pet peeves: creating conflict through vague communication and inaccurate assumptions. After Shaina and Ty return from their mission, they separated because each one thought the other didn't want them. Ty later explained that he was afraid he would scare her away if he admitted his feelings. Shaina said "I thought you thought of me only as a coworker" (pg 276). This was so unbelievable! They were injected with symbiots so they could read each others' minds. They were having sex. Each one risked his/her own life to save the other. This author had no respect for her readers.

I give this book 4 stars just for making me laugh out loud so many times. It was so cheesy yet so steamy. I very much enjoyed this book.

The Pleasure Palace has one of my favourite tropes that I don't often come across outside of romantic suspense: going undercover! Shaina and Tyson are Peace Control Officers and they're tasked with infiltrating the Pleasure Palace on Syrus Six. Of course, they have to go undercover as a wealthy mistress and her slave LOL.
This was a classic Evangeline Anderson sci-fi romance. I don't have much to say except that I had a jolly good time reading it. Yes, the heroine is annoying. But I've come to expect this by now, especially with the author's older books. Were there plot holes? Definitely. But I don't think we are here for the plot lmao.

What an erotic and suspense filled book! Ty and Shaina are Peace Officers and they volunteer to go to another planet to rescue the Chancellor's son who was kidnapped and being used as a sex slave. As work partners things become extremely awkward and danger is waiting and biding its time to take them both down when their undercover scheme has been discovered. Wow! Loved it.

Liked the storyline but…
It took way to long to reveal certain things, to the point of irritation and boredom. Ended up skipping through some sections that went on and on. Prefer to listen to a narrator than to read it myself, would be more entertaining. Why does the female on the cover have blond hair when Shaina is described as a redhead?

Wow! So damn hot!
Ms. Anderson knows hot to make some of the hottest stories. I’m never disappointed with any of her books. And this one is steaming and a great romance. The chemistry between the two main characters is great. And just love how the ending went.

It kind of started good, but a good set up couldn't possibly cover so many things I didn't like it was hard to count. Needless to say, despite a title it was not a pleasurable read.

Really was a 4.5 but didn’t have a problem rounding up to a 5. The ending was a little hookey but it was still a HEA, so no complaints.

Sci-Fi is a new genre for me but I'm finding that I really enjoy the idea of space travel and aliens... a little romance doesn't hurt either. In the Pleasure Palace we meet Ty and Shaina who are Peace Officer partners and extremely attracted to each other. After accepting a mission to save a lost boy, they travel to Pleasure Palace where they must act as Mistress and slave until they can leave. This adventure causes our characters to address their feelings and open their minds to new possibilities. Will they make it through this mission as just partners or lose their hearts??? I guess you have to read the book to find out! Happy Reading.

Quick read with a 'going undercover as a slave boy/slave girl' plot. Hero thinks the assignment is cool until he finds out HE has to be the submissive...
I had some real problems with the plot - the two of them are offered huge amounts of money to rescue a kidnapped son of a politician - but are not given the time or intel they need to have any real hope of doing so. Of course they do manage to pull it off with many difficulties and lots of stops for sexual interludes along the way. Average read.

I'm a little bit torn here...the sex is HOT, the language coarse enough to elicit an immediate reaction- that's the good part. Ty is a pretty good hero, not drop dead gorgeous, but rather good.
Shaina is a pain in the neck...they sent HER on this mission? Somebody has to be fired, and it's not only her. She is naive, annoying, stupid as hell...cringe-factor extremely high.
The story is not great literature, but very well readable, and the ideas are not altogether bad.
Entertaining read with GREAT sex and a weird story, okay, but not outstanding.
And Shaina- is unnerving, to say the least.

This book was hot! Five stars, definitely-don’t-read-in-public hot! An erotic romance that actually has a somewhat interesting sci-fi plot mixed in with the expected mind-blowing sex scenes. I highly recommend. Just take my advice … read this one at home. The cover alone should tell you to take it off the family room bookshelf and put it in the bedroom’s nightstand drawer!

March 12, 2011Story had an interesting twist but dialogue became pretty mundane and uninspired. Sexy at times but just boring at others. If I hadn't also been reading Charlaine Harris, whose gifted writing is so wonderful, this may not have looked so dull.

I love this book, have read it over and over. there's something about it for me that's just sensual. the fact that they can communicate through their thoughts just creates a steamy scene in my head for submissive moments.

Great read!! I got caught up in it right away. Couldn't put it down. The characters engage you, makes a person realize. How important communication can be. Great job Devyn!!!!!!
