The journey continues for Jake, Maggie, and Don in the harrowing sequel to Homeostasis Lost. Together with their new family the group has found a home, but a new threat is upon them and one that cannot be ignored. The invasion has begun. As they continue to survive in a world without power, people around them are growing hungry and aggressive, and foreign troops are getting closer. The season of warmth and certainty is waning, and a cold and deadly winter is on its way. They have become part of an Autumn Nation—one that hopes to someday again see spring.
I liked this second chapter in the Homeostasis Lost saga even better than the first, mainly because I loved the characters. It's a postapocalyptic novel, as is my current obsession, and this is one of the best.
Great reading adventure with a love story intertwined. A story about the possibilities of surviving even amongst the untrained. I especially like the storyline where all ages are included in the importance, that each person has to offer to the mission.
The second and final book in the series is just as detailed and full of action as the previous one. The final conclusion was satisfying. Excellent book.
Very good story, and a very nice finish to the story started in the first book. Serious issues with typos, grammar, and the like. The editor did a horrible job (if there was an editor). Otherwise, well told story, and I enjoyed it thoroughly. Not sure I'll hunt for more by this author, typos are a pet pieve of mine, especially when they pile up like this book did, but besides that, I'm a bit sick of end of the world stories for a while.
I liked this short series a lot. This book in particular had a lot of action. My only negative statement would be that it was hard to follow at times chronologically. The action sequences were great but the POV kept changing so it was hard to figure out at time where I was in time within the story. More contextual clues would have been helpful or perhaps chapter headings.
