SEAL Team Six #3

SEAL Team Six: Hunt the Falcon

Rate this book
SEAL Team Six and Thomas Crocker are back hunting their most elusive adversary The Falcon.

Hunt the Falcon finds SEAL Team Six chasing "The Falcon," an Iranian terrorist who has been stealing Libyan nuclear material. The hunt takes the team from Bangkok to Caracas in search of The Falcon's forces. Crocker convinces the powers that be to allow him to operate in Iran, and he and the team go in full black in order to take down their mark.

Meanwhile, Crocker's estranged father-a former firefighter and hell-raiser who was kicked out of the Navy as a young seaman-reappears, forcing Crocker to recognize his life outside the shadows of SEAL life. It's not easy when work calls over 300 days of the year, and when it's this essential to take an enemy down.

This book was mildly entertaining but I really hated the protagonist. He's more than happy to sign his men up for a suicide mission just to settle a personal vendetta, in the process pulling them away from their families and leaving his own wife and daughter. Of course, he doesn't like his wife anyway. He's pissed that she's dealing with PTSD and can't be at his beck and call all the time when he's on leave. I'm still not sure how a torture scene could be as boring as the one in Hunt the Falcon was, and the mental health care for Crocker is a complete joke because he's clearly mentally unstable and suffering from PTSD and they still clear him for active duty. This book honestly just makes the entire military look bad.

The terrorist, The Falcon and his Iranian terrorist cell are back and there is a score to be settled; a score Tom Crocker and SEAL Team Six are more than willing and able to even out, no matter the cost. Have Tom’s covert missions finally taken its toll on Holly, who is still trying to come to terms with the nightmare she became part of under the twisted hands of the man they call the Falcon? As she slowly crumbles, Tom cannot reveal that he is doing all he can to save more innocent lives and to avenge her suffering. Taking the fight to the enemy, Tom and his team will face torture, the loss of good men, a traitor, and reminders that he is needed at home as well as in the field.

Hunt the Falcon by Don Mann is a frightening journey into the battles we never hear of, the heroics and sometimes seemingly foolhardy risks taken by soldiers fighting the battle against terror. This time out, these brave men will face their own humanity as well as bullets as Don Mann fleshes the team out, allows heroes to be tortured, to die and to be permanently scarred for life. Will the memories they will always have slivering through their minds be too much?

Mr. Mann tells his tale as an insider who knows and spares nothing in bringing each scene to life with emotion and a decisive style that spares no one’s sensibilities, laying bare all of the atrocities and evils without putting any “lipstick on the pig.” A must read for those who want an over-the-top Military read written with a stark and gritty style. Fiction or not, everyone needs a hero, or in this case heroes and SEAL Team Six are those heroes.

Tom Crocker is back and has some unfinished business from his last mission. The action is fast, action packed, and non-stop. With the members of his team, Tom does what he does best, hunt the bad guys.

Tom’s wife, Holly, is having some issues of her own. While Tom understands, he realizes that Holly must work through the issues for herself. He plans to attack her problem on a different front by finding the man who caused her problems.

“Seal Team Six: Hunt the Falcon” was a great read. I enjoyed the booked and found it hard to break away from reading when I needed to do something else. There isn’t much “filler” in this book and the illogical side trips or challenges are thankfully absent. The characters and the missions are believable so that the reader is drawn into the story and is carried along in the action. The human interactions between Crocker and his family; and the interactions between Crocker and the other characters is very much what would occur in reality.

I feel this is the best book of the Seal Team Series so far. I highly recommend the book.

The unfinished business from "Hunt the Scorpion" returns with a vengeance as terrorist activity is brought into bases in South America. It doesn't seem possible, but each new book in this series appears to be better than the last. The action is well-described, the characters are real people with faults as well as strengths, and the byplay between members of the team adds a welcome dimension of comedy to break the never-ending tension. No matter how extreme the action, the story is believable and realistic. Crocker's persistence in tracking the Iranian terrorist mastermind dominates the book, and provides great satisfaction when he overcomes all odds to make a successful result.

This is a fast paced thriller that is filled with action. Once more we follow Crocker's team as they follow the Falcon's trail and traverse from country to country. They meet with horrific obstacles and challenges along the way, but continue to push forward past all normal limits. While this is book three of the series, it can be read as a stand alone book.

This novel kept me riveted and I have added this author to my my read authors' list.

Thank you to Netgalley for providing an ARC.

Meh, is about the best I can offer. I had high hopes when I first spotted the series as I wanted more insight into Navy SEALS in action. While I learned more about the mission side of their life, I found the characters to be very one dimensional and uninteresting. I would’ve liked a better balance between following a mission, learning about the individual characters and their home life. While I understand that a SEALprobably doesn’t have a whole lot of family time while in service to our country, it is reasonable to expect that in a fictional novel that those aspects would’ve been a little bit more fleshed out. I found the lead character of Crocker unlikable and far too interested in revenge than in the health of his wife and daughter. He clearly was on a vendetta which should’ve been caught by his teammates and commanding officer. This drive for revenge led him to take deadly risks for himself and his teammates and make choices that were highly questionable. I don’t know, I am not a SEAL for sure, but I am an avidreader and will not likely choose to read another in the series.

Seal Team Six: Hunt the Falcon was full of action from the first page to the last. Don Mann writes about the hardships and near misses the seals go through on each mission. His character Tom Crocker and his men get severely wounded, miss a target and come up with a new plan to try again. In this book his wife Holly is suffering from PTSD after being kidnapped and having to watch a colleague die after he was tortured. During one of the missions in this book his team is captured at what they thought was a safe house and tortured. Crocker manages to escape and free his men losing a CIA operative killed by their captures. Great book can't wait to read the next one I am hooked on these books.

I thought this was a step up from the first book in the SEAL Team Six series. As before, a fast read, but I thought the author added a bit more complexity to the story line. We all know the SEALs are a very tough breed of warrior, but sometimes, Mann just seems to stretch the boundaries of human endurance and perseverance. For this one, just sit back and enjoy the action and the almost inhuman pace of the story. Just plain fun to read.

Hey look at me, I finished a book!

I haven’t read a book like this in a long time. I found something strictly fiction a little bit easier to dive in to, but was left wanting more upon its conclusion. The book was entertaining enough, but I found some of the action sequences hard to follow, and there were some plot lines that were left completely undeveloped.

If half stars were an option, I would’ve given this a 2.5/5, but alas, I am forced to round up to a 3/5.

Action packed read, not my usual genre but I really enjoyed the story line. The author did a great job tying two different stories together at the end. I felt that the characters were described in a way that made them very real as I was reading. Crocker was developed well as a hero that would give anything for his country. Great read, will look into other books in the series.

I can't believe I finished this. Yikes. Very weak. I feel like this book is a video game as the main characters jet shot stabbed and critically wounded only to magic Love You! Regenerate and ready for battle in the next scene.

Great book. I accidentally picked it up out of order but I still enjoyed it. It does have some intense scenes but they're not too gruesome. If you're going to pick it up, I'd recommend starting at the beginning of the series

SEAL Team Six book three, Hunt the Falcon by Dan Mann and Ralph Pezzullo pick up on the Hunt for the Iranian terrorist from the last book, Farhed Alizadeh code-named the Falcon. The book started off really well like the other three so far, then it got slow and I had to push myself to read more, it wasn't bad just slow on the action. But as I knew it would it picked up and finished with a satisfying ending, and yes like the girlie girl I am I cried at the end. You get a good look at the teams personal lives, you get to see how Holly, Tom's wife, is holding up after her ordeal in the last book. Over all Hunt the Falcon is just as good as the others

The book starts off with the serial bombings of cars all over the world all connected by the device that was used. Two of the casualties were an American and his wife, John and Lena Rinehart, civilian workers for the U.S. embassy and the CIA living in Bangkok. The person behind the string of bombing, Alizadeh. The Rinehart's unfortunately leave behind their 13-year-old autistic son.

SEAL Team Six is back in the snow-covered mountains this time on a rescue mission to help back up OPM, Observation Post Memphis, which became under attack on the border of Taliban territories. Tom and his men, a newb, and five extra men climb a mountain in the middle of a blizzard in the Hindu Kush range to get to OPM. An exciting and edge of your seat few chapters Tom and his team manage to fight back the attackers and expose the mole. Tom unfortunately loses a close friend and neighbor in the process, and Tom now contemplates his own morality. It's Thanksgiving when they return home and Tom goes through the motions as he grieves his friend. Work comes crashing back down on him when his CO calls him in. Good Ole Jim Anders from the CIA is waiting for him and informs him he is getting his chance to go after Alizadeh again.

Unit 5000 was the organization behind arming the attack on OPM, and the serial bombings across the globe. In Bangkok Crocker and his team trace down a lone survivor from the bombing, one of the bombers, they raid the location and find all the information they needed. The Iranian Quds Force and Alizadeh formed Unit 5000 and are setting up a base in Venezuela and creating some very powerful explosive devices.

Black Cell the code-name for Crocker's team is sent off to Venezuela to stop the building of a base and if at all possible take down Alizadeh and his Venezuelan counterpart. Lots of shit goes down in South America including Black Cell being taken and tortured, Crocker managing to get all but one out alive. Alizadeh manages to escape back to Iran. Black Cell tracks three terrorist through fake passports from Venezuela to Juarez with a butt load of explosives trying to get into the states. Stopping them stops another attack the magnitude of 9-11 on New Orleans.

Black Cell is given four weeks of rest and it drives Crocker crazy but after all that happened his team and himself included need the rest. The CIA with all the information collected by Black Cell knows where Alizadeh and Unit 5000 are and their plan. With an executive order to infiltrate Iran to cut off the head of the snake, stop Unit 5000 by destroying their main base. Crocker, Akil, and Mancini sneak into Iran only to have everything SNAFU as usual.

Hunt the Falcon has a very satisfying ending. With the book closing on Tom visiting the Rinehart's autistic little boy.

Description

SEAL Team Six and Thomas Crocker are back hunting their most elusive adversary yet: The Falcon.

SEAL Team Six operative Thomas Crocker is no stranger to missions of the highest national importance and the gravest danger. But this time, the mission hits close to home. The Iranian terrorist he and his squad are chasing is the same man who kidnapped his wife months before-the Falcon, who has been stealing Libyan nuclear material and is laying plans for a devastating attack against America. The hunt takes the team from Bangkok to Caracas in hot pursuit of the Falcon and his forces.

Meanwhile, Corcker's estranged father--a former firefighter and hell-raiser who was kicked out of the Nacy as a young seaman--reappears, forcing Crocker to acknowledge his life outside the shadows of SEAL operations. Doing so isn't easy when duty calls over three hundred days of the year, and when it's this essential to take an enemy down.

Hunt the Falcon ups the ante for Crocker and the rest of SEAL Team Six as never before. The bullets fly, the action is relentless, and by the end Crocker and his crew will be put to the ultimate test: surviving captivity under the most depraved of men and taking the fight to the Falcon's doorstep, deep in the heart of Iran.

My review of "Hunt the Falcon":

Thomas Crocker and his team return to tell of their search for "Falcon", the top of the hit parade. These are characters I have grown to admire and wonder who Mann & Pezzullo might have based them on, but whether they did or not is not important as the fact that they are so well done they seem real to the reader and I for one continue to look forward to reading more of them in the future. The plot of each book is well done and rings loudly with the expertise of one who has lived it.

I recommend any of Don Mann's books, I have not read any of Ralph Pezzullo's outside of Seal Team Six. My rating for "Hunt the Falcon" is 4.75 out of 5 stars. I hope this series will make you pause and give thanks to the men and women who place themselves on the line every day so that we can enjoy the lives we have here at home. I know I do and pray for their safety every night.

John and Lenora Rhinehart have a son named Alex who is autistic with an exceptional high IQ. John, an economic counselor for the United States Embassy and Lenora an administrative assistant for the CIA are killed along with other officials in Rome Athens, Mumbai, and Cairo. The method used was a magnetic device attached to the rear bumper of their vehicles by terrorists riding motorcycles. Alex is told of his parents passing and decides to never again communicate verbally or interact with people.

The original team of Black Cell members Crocker, Davis, Ritchie, Mancini, Cal, and Daly are on assignment with seven new additional machine gunners when three of the seven new members, Douglas, Phillips, and Jake are injured during the mission and sent back to the United States for medical attention and recuperation.

Several missions and injuries later, Crocker, Mancini, and Daly are captured and tortured and Crocker devises a plan of escape releasing him and the other Black Cell members. Upon arrival on United States soil, Black Cell must follow the directive by the Commanding Officer for a mandatory vacation of six weeks before their next assignment. After the much-needed vacation, Black Cell receives a new assignment that leads to Alizadeh who is responsible for the vehicle bombings of United States Officials and a private personal visit with the son of John and Lenora Rhinehart.

The third installment of the SEAL Team Six series has several additional action and adventure fighting mission scenes than the previous two novels. While enjoying this episode of adventures for the Black Cell team I felt there was an excessive amount of missions for just one novel. I recommend this book to readers of inside military works and those with navy seal adventures interest being it is an enjoyable read.

I received this novel free from the Net Galley Reviewer Program in exchange for an honest and unbiased opinion.

I knew what I was getting into but went anyway. All of these military-based “thrillers” have the same rough outline and it does get boring after a while. Are the authors all the same person? “Don Mann” is allegedly a real person and his blurb says he has been “associated” with the Navy Seals for over thirty years. OK. I guess guilt by association is the reason for the stilted writing, using as plot points numerous crashes, shootings, quick healing, miracle cures and magical restoratives to keep Thomas Crocker alive for several novels. In this one, Crocker and his Seal Team Six pursue the deadly Iranian operative The Falcon who has designs on destroying parts of America. They have to go all over the world to locate him, fortunately, or Mann would have had only one chapter in his book. There is the usual assortment of exotic weaponry, the usual assortment of cars that will get perforated by small arms fire and the usual spattering of blood around several settings. Broken arms, ankles, wrists and a twisted and broken neck or two are sprinkled throughout the text as well. Perhaps the one glaring prop that Mann uses in the book is the red bikini-clad butt of Mercedes, a plump and appealing target of Crocker’s lust but never action. Navy Seal, you know. Instead, he gets more anti-depressants for his wife, Holly, suffering from her own form of PTSD from having to listen to Crocker recount his adventures, no doubt. She is just bad enough to make the reader wonder if Crocker will go off the reservation with Mercedes. I am glad my “break time” from reading serious fiction is over. “Hunt the Falcon” served the break purpose just find and was certainly a rest for my mind.

Review from Closed the Cover

They're back! In the third installment of the Seal Team Six novels Tom Crocker and his SEAL Team Six are back and Don Mann really increased the action! (Did you miss my reviews of book #1 and book #2? Check them out now.) I complained about the predictability of the plot in the first two books and about the amount of filler that did nothing to advance the plot and I was really happy to see that these two issues are not as heavy in this book. While there is still a lot of unnecessary filler that can easily be skimmed rather than read when the dialogue and the action hits it's incredible! This plot, unlike the others, is not nearly as predictable which made for a much more enjoyable read for me.

As the synopsis for this book says, Tom Crocker's father returns in this book and that really increases the emotional toll of this book. Crocker is a man on a mission (a critical mission) and his Dad's return really throws a wrench into his plans. I loved that Mann shook things up a little bit with this and with the captivity of some major players. The overall feel and theme of the book was the same but the intensity with which I read was different. I enjoyed the first two but I devoured this one.

This book, Hunt the Falcon, is absolutely a military thriller! It's intense, the bullets fly, the action is relentless and by the end readers are left out of breath and fully enraptured with Crocker, his crew, and their mission. This one takes place in Iran and is a really thrilling ride!

SEAL Tea Six: Hunt the Falcon is part of a series written by Don Mann and Ralph Pezzullo.

The main characters are Crocker and his team, Mancini, Richie, Akil, Cal, and Davis. They make up the elite Black Cell team. Told from the perspective of Crocker, we learn a lot about him. A psychological review during this story shows he has psychopathic tendencies, clearly seen in the narrative. Supporting characters include his wife, who has an important role in his choices during this story, and his daughter.

Starting with a rescue of trapped US forces in Afghanistan that costs the live of one of his team member, through the death of the man behind his wife’s previous kidnap, this team doesn’t slow down. They investigate the rumor of a terrorist base being built in Venezuelan by Unit 5000 of the Qud forces and discover a plot to attack the United States. They barely manage to stop the terrorists in a tunnel leading from Mexico to the United States. Those missions lead them to the man that Crocker is determined to take out.

I have read that these stories are militarily accurate. There is a bit of graphic content. The story heroes are truly heroic and committed to ending the evil they are chasing. I love reading about heroes and good winning over evil. I recommend this book to any who love military stories with truly heroic characters.

Seal Team Six:Hunt the Falcon ups the odds and dangers for seal team six and Croker's team.
What does the kidnapping of Crocker"wife Holly, the death of an academic and nuclear weapons all have in common? The Falcon, an extreme terrorist that the team has had close encounters with before. For Crocker this is personal as he thinks of all Holly has ben through and is just now learning to deal with.
He wants him bad and bad means he will drop his team into the heart of the enemy, Iran, even if there is no return just as long as the Falcon goes with him.

This grips you from the very beginning to the end.Once again Don Mann no stranger to danger or seal teams takes inside what it's like to be part of one our country elite fighting forces. Not only do we see the danger they constantly place themselves in but we are reminded of the personal side as each deals with family pressures and trying to balance their profession along with a life outside of the service.
Look forward to their next assignment.

This is my thirty-ninth book I have received and read from Goodreads. I really enjoyed reading books written about the military. The author Don Mann, has experience in the Seals, and has the ability to relate to the problems military spec ops personnel live, home and in the field.
Seal Team Six operative Thomas Crocker has been on many life and death missions with the highest national security. In this book Thomas Crocker and his squad is put into a deadly mission with a Iranian terrorist that prior to this story, kidnapped his wife months before. The terrorist that they are after goes by the name the Falcon. This story is action packed. I would recommend this book to anybody who has been in the militar or is thinking about joining the military. I personally spent four years in the Air Force and twenty-six years in the Air National Guard as a Medical Superintendent. I hope this author keeps on writing these kind of stories.
