After returning to Ashborne, Amber's worst nightmare is made a reality. Her emotionally abusive and twisted father, the King of Ashborne, has discovered the secret she prayed he would never find.
The soldier-princess had found a love with Emoren that she never knew existed. And now, that love was being used against her to force her into a marriage that was nothing more than a concubine's slavery. As the war between her father's abuse and Emoren's love rages inside her, the future queen's heart dances somewhere between unyielding love and dark insanity.
With Emoren's life hanging in the balance, the star-crossed pair is thrust into an impossible situation where they're forced to find out just how much the other will endure for the love they can no longer be without.
This was a great second instalment, and I’m looking forward to reading the last book in the series.
Amber continued to be a strong heroine in this book, and I liked how she stood up for herself and the man she loved, even when all hope seemed lost. Her plans to save herself and Emoren were well thought out, and seemed realistic and achievable. Just got to read the last book in the series to see if she’s able to pull it off! 7 out of 10
Again, like the first book, I was left wondering if I had accidentally only downloaded the sample of the book. Is a short book, but the ideas are great and is fun to read.
I read this series super quick, it probably took me about 3 hours maybe less. As most were free thanks to kindle unlimited so I just sped through them fast. I'll just copy and paste this review for all three of the books I read, as I'm lazy and the points are the same for each book regardless of the ending of each of them.
So this series is pretty weak, it has so many possible good things going for it and then it poof falls a little flat. The story line is good, the writing is good but it isn't great, and to be quite honest it could be! The scene is set so well but it just isn't developed enough. Her descriptions of the surroundings are pretty good I felt like I was there but it just wasn't very strong. The main is pretty weak willed, she has little personality and actually for someone to be 'quite strong' she is very weepy. Like she cries quite a bit and quite regularly.
With this all being said I did enjoy this book series which is why its a 3 and not a 2. It isn't fair to mark it higher just because I liked it when it is not in the same level as some books which can be strong 5 stars. It just isn't... This series could have been so much better, and it didn't need to be 3 books it could have been fleshed out to be a very strong stand alone book and I think it would have been a pretty good read then. Pretty disappointed it was so short but hey I liked what I did read.
