Eiichiro Oda (尾田栄一郎, Oda Eiichirō) is a Japanese manga artist, best known as the creator of the manga and anime One Piece.

As a child, Oda was inspired by Akira Toriyama's works and aspired to become a manga artist. He recalls that his interest in pirates was probably sparked by the popular TV animation series titled Vicky the Viking. He submitted a character named Pandaman for Yudetamago's classic wrestling manga Kinnikuman. Pandaman was not only used in a chapter of the manga but would later return as a recurring cameo character in Oda's own works.

That moment when your plan doesn't move along accordingly. Yeah, that's what happens after Straw Hat Pirates arrive in Dressrosa. Actually I loved this town. Lively and quite pleasant. Strange, yeah because there are toys all around. But I think something happened before and there will be another story in the future.

For now, their plan is to destroy SMILE factory has to suspend a bit because Luffy has to get Ace's Devil Fruit, Mera Mera no Mi. He needs to fight in the Colosseum and hide his identity. Well, the naval army appears in almost every places but this one is different with new leader. Fujitora seems to have amazing power, huh. Overall, I really looking forward to what will happen with Luffy and Law's plan especially with some certain 'disturbance'.

DRESSROSA ARC - PART 1
1. the straw hats are so lucky they have nami as a navigator with her skills of drawing actually good maps. i'm looking at the map the heart pirates drew for traffy and it SUCKS LMAO

2. i like that traffy's all determined about the plan, and meanwhile luffy does have the goal of wanting to be pirate king but he is legit sometimes more enarmoured with adventure and just having fun, which is fun, because you have trafalgar law, who knows it's time that counts and is proactive and knows that he might not be able to become that way (seeing as how he looked at the percentages and said there's a 30% chance of the plan and alliance working) and then there's luffy, who for all intents and purposes just simply believes that he will become pirate king, no matter when or how long, which is why he doesn't fear or even think about getting timings right. for luffy, it's a sure thing whereas for traffy it's something that might not happen.

3. a society with living toys; and they're even able to procreate? (this woman married the nutcracker, and their child is a robot? uhmmm, lady..?)

4. oh my god. they're battle royaling ace's devil fruit. it hurts me to look at it, like that's ace's power, and they're just auctioning it off? i don't want anybody but luffy to get it/to own it/to give to somebody else

5. LUFFY ENTERED TO COLISEUM UNDER THE NAME 'LUCY' - i love that hahahah it's like master roshi and jackie chun, god he could raze all of the competition

6. once again, there's many story lines going on with many different strawhat crew members (+ traffy) - sanji and his random girlfriend; zoro on the pursuit for his sword; kin'emon on....search for the samurai friend?; franky to find some high upper to beat for information; luffy in the coliseum to win ace's fruit with several marines and other bounty hunters and pirates joining; nami and chopper back at the sunny; law, robin, usopp to hand over caesar; meanwhile there's also cipher pol zero on this island?? wowowowoowwow

7. a lot of people hate luffy....for such petty reasons

8. the tontattas are funny as fuck, i love how they speak

Even tho I love all the new characters, I have to have a lil talk with you, Oda!
What the hell were you thinking when putting a 16 year old into a armor that doesn’t even cover any of her vital organs? Like boobs out ? And barely covered? First off, that’s a child !!!! Second how is she gonna survive the freaking fight if she doesn’t even have any protection on her?!
I love Rebecca, but her outfit is a crime.

The crew have to go to Dressrosa now and they do and we have them split up and they go undercover and dress up and all, Luffy is in colosseum amidst some fight for Ace's fire ability devil fruit and then it takes the majority of the volume as we are introduced to different fighters and fights happen and great moment where "Lucy" identity is revealed, and watching some fight scenes, picking with Robin in a land of dwarves and all and then the whole handover going wrong and maybe True intentions of Doflamingo. Great volume and it serves to heighten the excitement that this series has become.

One Piece, Vol. 71 continues where the previous tankōbon left off and contains the next eleven chapters (701–711) of the on-going manga series.

This tankōbon begins the Dressrosa Arc. The Straw Hats arrive at Dressrosa and split into groups. Monkey D. Luffy, Roronoa Zoro, Sanji, Franky, and Kin'emon go to a diner, where they meet a blind man who is exceedingly powerful, which would be later revealed to be Marine Admiral Fujitora. Luffy and Franky confront a Donquixote servant, who reveals Doflamingo is holding a tournament at the Corrida Colosseum, and the prize is the Flame-Flame Fruit, which once belong to his deceased brother – Portgas D. Ace.

Not wanting the fruit to go into wrong hands, he signs up for the tournament under an alias. Luffy meets fellow gladiators Cavendish, Rebecca, and the Chinjao Family, and learns there will be four block battles. Rebecca shows him the statue of Kyros, a legendary gladiator.

The Block A battle concludes very quickly, with Jesus Burgess claiming victory. The Block B battle begins as Bartolomeo is introduced, who seems untouchable, because he had consumed a devil fruit that can create barriers.

Meanwhile, Law's group battles their way across the bridge to Green Bit. They then find the mysterious force believed to be fairies, which Robin reveals are actually dwarves. Robin and Usopp are captured by the dwarves, but are easily freed due to the dwarves' gullibility. At the exchange site, Sanji contacts Law and reveals that Doflamingo never quit the Shichibukai, as Doflamingo and Fujitora head toward Law.

This tankōbon is written and illustrated by Eiichirō Oda. For the most part it is written and constructed rather well. It begins the Dressrosa Arc, which has the Straw Hats, Law, Kin'emon, and Momonosuke head to Dressrosa with a captive Caesar to broker a deal with Doflamingo, to destroy his SMILE Factory, and free the samurai's comrade Kanjuro. However, Luffy manages to discover that there is a tournament going on and the winner would receive the Flame-Flame Fruit, which once belong to his deceased brother.

All in all, One Piece, Vol. 71 is a wonderful continuation to a series that seems really intriguing and I can't wait to read more.

For all of the last arc’s problems, I think Oda Sensei had a good opening for Punk Hazard that kept things simple(ish) and established some mystery. His introduction to the Dressrosa arc in this volume was decidedly less effective in my view. I can never fault Oda Sensei for making each new island unique with a complex mythology and Dressrosa already has one with its hodgepodge of Spanish/Italian influences, living toys, gladiatorial combat, and a race of fairy folk. Its ambitious but the result is the volume is overstuffed and the pacing is a mess and not enough attention to the Straw Hats. The biggest offender I’d say is the gladiatorial tournament chapters. Like when he introduced the Super Rookies and the various Marines and Pirates at the Summit War, Oda Sensei introduces way too many characters in the Colosseum too quickly and its hard to keep track of and/or give a damn about most before they get KO-ed ( and Luffy’s not even participating in this round).

Still like any One Piece volume, this had parts I liked. The Straw hats when they are on page are great, I especially liked the humor of Luffy’s disguise and being unable to stay incognito. The Colosseum fight itself has some good moments of action in it. Also, unlike most of the combatants, I liked the introduction of Admiral Issho, but then again I’m a sucker for fictional blind badasses so that came as no surprise.

After a great Volume 70, Volume 71 felt like a stumble but hopefully things will pick up next volume (unless Oda Sensei adds another bajillion characters and subplots).

Llegamos a Dressrosa, cuatro misiones.

I loved this opening segment to the Dressrosa arc! The island itself is fascinating with toys and little people, and there seems to be a revolution brewing…also I am a slut for a good battle royale and I love how Luffy is so terrible at disguising himself. It seems he might actually be at a disadvantage here and I can’t wait!

Somewhat of a let down after all the build up and hype. One Piece likes to bring in old faces and make them new. We knew this ever since Alvida.

2025 reread : the Dressrosa arc is very long, and yet it starts so fast??? It goes off the rail within 2 or 3 chapters of them arriving on the island, impressive. And there is never a dull moment. So many new characters with various motivations to introduce! I love it really.

I love the beginning of this arc. I flew through this one and the next one!

The intrigue continues at the Kingdom of Dressrosa, there's a lot of fodder chapters but that's to be expected with a tournament-based plotline. It's the best it can be honestly, meanwhile there's a lot of compelling appearances from home boy's Bellamy and Bartholomew, and the beautifully mysterious, Violet.

What a cliffhanger! I always wondered what happened to someone's devil fruit powers once they died and now I know! I hate the thought of someone else getting Ace's flame-flame fruit but I think it would be cool if Nami or Usopp got it. Zoro looks good with a beard and Robin looks good in her Dressrosa get-up!

Es una mejora con respecto a los arcos anteriores, volvemos a tener un poco de ritmo entretenido e interés, pero también muchos personajes nuevos puesto ahí a pegote y se supone que me tienen que interesar y bastante fanservice agotador.
