USA Today Bestselling Author Lacey Silks writes seat-gripping romantic suspense with heat and spice. She’s married to most of her characters and tortures her husband with quirky book roles. Lacey’s two kids and her dog Kygo fill her time with homework questions and sweet licks all over her face (the dog not the kids).

When she’s not writing seat-gripping and heart-throbbing stories, Lacey enjoys camping and skiing with her family. She’s an early bird by nature and drinks coffee instead of water, because that’s how her busy billionaire heroes do it.

Lacey’s flawed and relatable characters fill the pages with laughter, snark and tears. She judges men by the size of their feet, loves sexy lingerie, and can’t live without her “boost juice”: coffee.

"You've always had good instincts. Listen to them."

DNF @ 30%

I am using a quote from the book, to sum up my reasons for not finishing it. I stuck with it as I hoped the confusion I felt at the beginning of the book would gradually be explained as the story developed.

The story starts with Mia and Adrian literally in a booth in a bar... After a 20 year separation, it just seemed too random of a way to start a book. Yes you are given an explanation as to how and why he is there over the next couple of chapters, but I just struggled to feel that this couple who hadn't seen each other for 20 years, could just roll back to being in-love, ready-to-drop-everything for each other, with hardly any meaningful conversation.

Adrian always made me feel comfortable in an uncomfortable way.

This is where my second problem arises, the conversation between everyone is so very stilted, and wooden that I was worrying I would end up with splinters in my fingertips... Mia is a mass of contradictions, one minute she's determined to make a go of things with Adrian but not too rush into anything, in the next she's debating a quickie with her ex husband, who is still very apparent in her home and her life, over and above what I would ever expect a woman to allow a cheating ex to be, even with children involved.

Add to that the fact I kept having to reread things as I was confused as hell I decided better to listen to my good instincts and call it a day.

ARC provided via Netgalley, I am sorry that I cannot provide a more positive review on this occasion.

I read this as part of the Red Hot Lovers Box Set. This was a new to me author and I was eager to try her stuff.

Now usually, I do a summary of the plot and then my thoughts on the different book elements. But I won't be able to do that with this one because I didn't end up reading it thoroughly from first to last. I read straight through to chapter seven and realized I was either going to have to DNF the book or skim. I was vested enough to want to know the end result so I chose to skim. I didn't read it closely enough beyond that point until the last few chapters to give a worthy summary. So yes, I'll need to do this a bit differently.

Before I get to what caused the issue, let me just say that the decision not to call it a day is because regardless of how I felt about the plot and the heroine, I liked the author's writing. I really liked Adrian, the heroine's high school sweetheart. I wanted the big HEA even if I wasn't too thrilled about what came in between.

Now as to what put the burr under my saddle, its the scenario of the heroine, Mia, one year separated from an ex who cheated on her and just starting to get back on her feet. She is friends with her ex and finds that they are actually better than ever and even had a few sexual encounters after they separated with him having the run of the house on occasion. They are together for church and for their two kids. She questions if she should have given it another chance.

Into this situation walks a man Mia hasn't seen in twenty years. Adrian was her high school love, but they were separated when he moved to Europe. They made promises and wrote until she met Dan and then she stopped responding and Adrian stopped writing. Now that she is divorced and he gave it some time, he wants a second chance. They have an instant familiarity and some things feel right even as they have to accept that twenty years worth of life have gone by and they aren't the same.

This is when Mia can't seem to make up her mind and starts to treat Adrian to her fears after what happened with her ex. And she is so worried about not hurting her ex's feelings that I had doubts as to who she thought she wanted to be with a few times. I just couldn't get comfortable with her vacillating back and forth and got ticked when Adrian who has been patient and honest and didn't hurt her was the one burned by it all. I chose to skim through most of the middle story and get to the crisis that finally wakes her up. My swoony romantic heart loved that epilogue.

So, not sure what to say recommendation wise. I really think it comes down to what are hot buttons for the reader and what aren't. This touched one of mine because I don't like it when characters don't have a clean break from one relationship while in another though admittedly this was complicated with the split family thing. I'm going to lean toward a recommendation to contemporary romance fans who like mature couples in complicated situations.

My thanks to the authors for providing this book in exchange for an honest review.

For me this was a beautiful second chance love story - that
I totally loved and enjoyed.  It's about
coming back to your first true love - your first everything - and giving it
another try, at hopefully the right times in both of your lives.

If you're
looking for angst and triangles - then this book isn't for you.  This is a book about a man, loving a woman so
much, so deeply - he plans everything perfectly to come back and try to
rekindle their love, and hopefully find what they had once before twenty years ago.  It's about a woman, letting herself take the
chance again on the one she let get away, without the guilt of putting herself
first for once.

A perfect easy, romantic love
story - that will have you really believing in second chances.

2 Not So Much Stars!!!

Source: eARC for Honest Review Courtesy of My Lit Publishing via NetGalley

Gah! I wanted to like this book so much because the idea of the story had such huge potential but the whole thing fell quite flat for me.

Right from the beginning something about the heroine irked me, I didn't even realize what her name was until half way through the book.

The idea of this book is that two people were lovers twenty years ago and circumstances separated them and now twenty years, kids and failed relationships later they find themselves with a second chance.

"Fate. Second chances. Because I can't stand living without you anymore. I can't stop asking myself all those what ifs. What if we'd stayed together, what if I hadn't been with someone else when you came back that one summer?  What if I'd kept writing after I didn't hear from you? All the what ifs I've collected through my life. A bagful, you could say. I've got one of them answered at least: what if she tells me to leave right away?"

From the first words on the page,  Mia came across as weak and whiny.  Her first love Adrian comes rolling back into her life causing her heart and libido to wake up after a long slumber. Adrian asks her for a chance to reunite which she immediately agrees to but she wants to take it slow. Ok, at this point even though something about her annoys me I'm ok with this but then she goes home and her cheating ex husband is there and because her sex drive is woken she toys with the idea if getting her horny rocks off with him.

The fact that she still had a sexual relationship with him after the divorce and cheating was enough for me to get frustrated with her. I got the guilt about ending her relationship with her ex because of the kids but the rest I didn't get when it came to her thoughts with her ex.

This book was ok. There were so many details thrown into this book that really didn't add to anything going on in the story.  I think they were to build character but instead for me it was the opposite effect. I did finish it in the hopes it was going to get better as some books do but unfortunately for me that was not the case.

Review originally posted at Ramblings From This Chick

My First, My Last is a standalone contemporary romance by Lacey Silks, and I was really excited to read this second chance love story. This one really intrigued me with the blurb, and I thought that it was really different from anything else I had read before. As much as I like portions of this book, I also had some problems with this story as well. I think that a lot of people will really enjoy this book though and I am definitely interested in reading more from Lacey Silks in the future.

Adrian and Mia fell in love when they were young, but distance forced them apart. With Adrian living in Europe and Mia living in Toronto, they knew there was no way to continue to see each other regardless of their feelings. Twenty years later, Mia is out with friends when Adrian approaches her at a bar. Adrian once let Mia go, and refuses to make the same mistake again. Knowing that Mia is now divorced, he thinks it is the perfect time to show her that they belong together once and for all. But can Mia move forward with Adrian after all this time or will there be too much still standing in their way. And what will Mia do about her hopeful ex-husband Dan who still wants her and their family back?

I really loved Adrian. He was sweet and thoughtful and so extremely patient. He could not have been better all around, and I thought that he was just a genuinely good guy. I felt so bad for Mia and Adrian, and they had been through so much in their youth. The only reason they had ever split up wasn't because of problems between them, but because of distance and the separation. It was terrible that they were separated for so long for reasons beyond their control, but you could really see that time and maturity had made it possible for them to come back to one another. Mia drove me nuts at times though. I loved her with Adrian and her kids. But it was her consideration and constant worry about her ex-husband Dan that was my problem. I hated the face that he treated her like crap and that he had betrayed her but that she never got mad and continued to bend over backwards for him. I found it ridiculous how much she seemed to worry about his needs and didn't think about her own. Adrian was so good with her and her kids though, and I was glad to see him and her mom and best friend really show her that she deserved a happier and better life. I thought that Adrian and Mia's connection never wavered despite the years apart and you could see that they never stopped loving one another. I thought that they had a lot of chemistry and the attraction between them only seemed to have increased with time.

I also thought that the lack of swearing and the way it was brought up at times was almost unrealistic. It just seemed odd that for a book in this genre with the content this had that it was so out of place, and I found it distracting. I really wanted to love this book, and I still thought that a lot of the story and the ending were great. But I just thought that between Mia and a few of the other issues that I had that this one just missed the mark. I was hoping for more, and this one just wasn't able to deliver everything I was looking for. I thought that it was sweet and light, but I was surprised by how almost perfect everything worked out. I just didn't find it believable, and I couldn't see it ever happening the same in real life. The conflict between Mia and her ex Dan and the reason for their split seemed so minor and I couldn't imagine ever being as okay with that situation as she was. I do think that there are readers out there that will enjoy this story, and contemporary fans as well as second chance romance fans alike will want to consider giving this one a shot. It was just hard for me to really get into this story because I felt like I didn't understand Mia and couldn't connect with her. I am interested in seeing more from Lacey Silks in the future.

I was given a copy in exchange for an honest review

Lacey Silks has quickly become one of my favorite authors so it is no surprise that I jumped at the chance to read “My First, My Last” , especially since I knew it was a second chance romance. From the moment Mia and Adrian were introduced I was head over heels hook, line, and sinker. They are heart melting, sexy, and combustible. Not only did their story cause heart palpitations and heavy sighs, but also tears. Lacey Silks knows how to evoke deep emotions and cause infatuation with the story and characters.

Mia was not your typical bar pick up for Adrian Reed, considering he had loved and cherished this woman from afar for twenty years. When living in different countries and circumstances separated them, they had to both go on with their life but still took up residence in each other's hearts. No one could ever compare even after long commitments and kids, they still never forgot one another. Mia is heart broken, divorced woman who has a busy life that includes her kids and her ex husband. When a girl's night out brings about a cut, tattooed, pierced old flame, he sets her to burning in ways that she hasn't in years. He wants a second chance after relocating and she is full of doubts, mistrust, but most of all desire. She knows that he is the piece of her heart that is missing but is unsure how he would fit into her life now.

Adrian has returned to claim Mia or his “Thumbelina” as he loves to call her. She has always been his, even while they were separated by an ocean. He plans on showing her this truth, how he can fit into her life, and how explosive they can be together. More experience, new desires, and a love that has never ceased brings them to new heights that they have never been before. Could it possibly be that the stars have finally aligned after twenty years?

I absolutely adored both Mia and Adrian and enjoyed every minute of this book. Mia is such a strong admirable character, a wonderful mom, and brave to trust again after all of her heartbreak. Don't get me started on Adrian, he is absolutely delectable with his sweet and sexy nothings that he whispers to Mia, the respect he shows everyone her life, and of course those rippling muscles, tattoos, and piercings give him the bad boy persona that is such a turn on. Lacey Silks is the master of seducing and enticing people with her stories and the magnificent, real characters that she shares with her readers. I highly recommend for readers who loved to be swept off their feet in a romance that is sweet yet still contains plenty of sizzle.

I’m not going to retell the story and the synopsis gives you a pretty good idea of what the book is about. What I will say is this…

I read the synopsis and My First, My Last seemed like just the book I was in the mood for. When I received my ARC, I jumped in head first. And in all honesty, I actually have mixed feelings about this book. Let me try to explain…

I absolutely LOVED Adrian. He was every woman’s wet dream! Literally! Not only was he drop dead gorgeous, but he traveled from the other side of the world hoping for a second chance with his true love that he pushed out of his life twenty years earlier. *SWOON* He was caring and considerate. Not only for Mia, but for her children and even her ex-husband. Who wouldn’t buckle at the knees for a guy like that?

Mia… The whole time I was reading this book I couldn’t decide if I loved her or hated her. Mia’s ex-husband Dan still played a huge role in her life. I understand that he is the father of her children, but she took him into account when making decisions that really had nothing to do with him.

And when it came to Adrian, when he first reentered her life, she was all over the place! I can relate to her feelings for the guy she lost her virginity to never going away, but she would keep him at arms length. She wanted Adrian, in every sense of the word, but she was afraid about how her relationship with him would effect her children and Dan. OK, the worry regarding her children is warranted, but Dan? Please!

I felt that Mia was weak. Her character needed to be stronger as a person. And in all honesty, she annoyed me. I stuck with the book because the plot had grabbed me and I was eager, determined, to find out how things ended up for Adrian and Mia.

Now don’t get me wrong. Overall I ended up enjoying My First, My Last. I’m so glad I stuck with it! The ending was AMAZING and totally changed the rating I was going to give this book. It dragged emotions out of me and I definitely had the ‘feels’! And it turns out that I was right… My First, My Last by Lacey Silks was exactly what I was in the mood for!

I received an ARC as part of the Blog Tour in exchange for an honest review.

This was my first Lacey Silks novel and it won't be my last. In My First My Last you get a realistic love story between two people who fell deeply in love as young adults but due to unavoidable circumstances were separated and drifted apart. Although still in love with Adrian, Mia knows that long distance love is hard to maintain especially at their young ages and breaks it off so that they can both go on with their lives. Years later after living completely different lives, Adrian shows up out of the blue to rekindle what they both felt was a great love lost.

There is a bit of steaminess found in this book, but the main focus is the actual story of rekindling love when lots of life has been lived in between. There's no wild story line here, just a good solid romance that will leave you believing that true love can still be found in the real world!

Lacey Silks shares with us the story of Adrian and Mia. We meet Mia when she sees Adrian approaching her. She hasn't seen him in twenty years. Promises made and broken. You never forget your first love and everything that goes with it including the heartbreak. After all that life has thrown at them, will they be able to get it right after all this time? When you have gone through life with marriages, children, and divorce, can you start again?

Lacey Silks brings us a story of possibilities. Will the reality of the present be marred by the past too much to allow what could be? Or have they learned enough to let go and see what the future can bring them? Read along as you follow Adrian and Mia as they try to navigate through life and see if a first love can end up being your last? I enjoyed reading their story. I liked how strong and resolute Adrian is in what their future holds while Mia is still unsure if that is enough to keep them together. Throw in the messy past and all those in their lives can result in lots of mishaps and shared moments. She takes you on a rollercoaster of emotions as you keep turning the page to see what happens next and where their actions and thoughts lead them.

I received and read an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. I would like to thank Lacey Silks for this privilege.

My First, My Last was a very emotional book. Adrian and Mia had been together when they were much younger but they lived on two different continents. As much as they loved each other they knew they couldn't work because of the distance between them. It is now twenty years later and Adrian has moved to be near Mia. Unbeknownst to her he has kept tabs on Mia and knew that she was now single. She had been divorced for a year and had two children.

When Mia and Adrian saw each otherfor the first time again in a bar all those years slipped away. They each still loved the other. Adrian was a patient man. Mia had been hurt badly in her marriage . She knew, Dan, her ex-husband had been running around on her but she turned a blind eye. The day she decided to surprise him at work she was the one who got the surprise and it was not a good one. This really soured her on getting married again.

Adrian took every opportunity to show and tell Mia how much he loved her. No matter, she couldn't commit. There were many twists and turns and almost a complete roadblock. In the end love won! I loved every minute of this book and I hope you will too.

My star rating for 'MY FIRST, MY LAST' is 4 out of 5 stars! :)

My ‘Blogging Reader’s Review’ after reading ‘MY FIRST, MY LAST' by Author Lacey Silks (via: Booksmoviesfandoms.wordpress.com):

I’m very glad I was offered an ARC early-copy to read and review of ‘My First, My Last’. There is just something I really enjoy about a story where love is rekindled and second chances are given when it comes to matters of the heart. That is what ‘My First, My Last’ by Author Lacey Silks is about. The story follows Mia and Adrian, who found love as teenagers in Vienna one summer, when Mia went to visit family. This story is told through Mia’s P.O.V.(point of view).

Mia was a teenage girl when she flew from Canada to enjoy a fun summer in Vienna, Italy with her cousins that live there. Life was simple and easy then. She met a sweet boy in Vienna and fell madly in love with him. He was her first love and the guy she shared a few firsts with, that would resonate with her through out the years. She had to eventually go back home to Canada. And, as life happened, they lost touch.

Adrian Reed, was a young skinny teenage-boy when he first met Mia when she visited Vienna. He adored her. During that fun-loving and innocent time, they shared as much as they could with each other because of the feelings they shared. When Mia had to leave, he told her he’d always love her. They even said that maybe one day, when the time was right, the stars would realign for them again. He held onto that and his love for a young girl named Mia from then on.

As always, life happened. Years pass. Now, with a family of her own, Mia must face tough decisions about life, love, and family. With a marriage in shambles, children who need most of her attention and responsibilities, she wasn’t ready to see him again. He is tall, handsome, muscular and hotter than she remembered and he was definitely going to flip her world upside down now that he was here, in Canada, just a few feet away, in the bar, twenty-years later.

Adrian is now a very man now and the skinny teenage boy he once was, with a business and a son in college. All he’s ever thought about and wanted through the years, was his Mia, the girl who stole his heart many years ago. He is determined to make her his again but he knows that life has its challenges. He’s waited twenty years, and he will do anything to let her know that he is here to stay and that she is all he needs. But will it be enough?

There are moments when I wondered if Mia and Adrian would allow their hearts to lead them where they both really wanted to be. The story is wonderful. It’s about that one first live that you share so many firsts with. The one you don’t see for so many years, but when you see them again, it’s like nothing had truly changed when it came to the feelings shared. Mia feels torn between the love she lost then and the life she lives now. Is the love they share twenty-years ago strong enough to connect them so many years later? Will Mia give Adrian a chance or will her recent issues with relationships make her push him away? And, can Adrian stay in Canada or will he go back to Vienna forever? Towards the end, I’ll admit it, I teared up. I didn’t expect the turn of events at the end but I did enjoy how this story was written well enough to tug at certain emotions at the right times. And let me mention, there were some hot and sexy moments as well. I recommend this one for anyone looking for a new contemporary romance to read and enjoy!

I love Lacey's style of writing, this book was no exception, although I did find myself with tears welling up in my eyes through many parts of the book.

Imagine running into your first true love after twenty years of being apart.

Mia and Adrian had met when she was 15, he was her first love...the one she thought about and couldn't get out of her mind. They never really broke up - they separated, as they lived on two different continents. "Distance was an enemy neither of us had conquered until now."

Imagine Mia's surprise when she's on a girls night out and sees her one true love, the one she never really got over. "Fate. Second Chances. Because I can't stand living without you anymore". Those were enough words to send Mia over the edge, even though she had been the one to stop writing to Adrian, she had never really moved on, she just locked those memories away, and when he stepped back into her life if was almost as if they were never separated.

Adrian had kept tabs on Mia over the past 20 years and had recently got in contact with her mom, so he knew exactly where to run into her. The spark and connection between the two of them was electric. He assured her that they would take baby steps, and he wouldn't push her into anything she wasn't ready for, although he longed to make up for his past mistakes and make her his wife. He also put her needs and the needs of her children first.

Adrian had explained to Mia when she came back that last summer, and he was with someone else, he was with her because she was pregnant with his child. In a lot of ways he and Mia were alike as they were both single parents as their partners both had problems with alcohol, not to mention they had never really forgotten the bond that the two of them shared.

Adrian tells Mia he'll be there as long as she wants him to be. "You and me. We are the real deal. I've never loved anyone the way I loved you." He reminds her, "You wanted me to be your first, and I want you to be my last." Every time Adrian brings up marriage, Mia tells him she can't, she can't fail him. Yet she knows in her heart he is everything she has always wanted.

Mia thinks she's pushed Adrian away when her ex rushes over to tell her that Adrian was leaving the country. She takes off to the airport to try to stop him. She's crying in the airport because she thinks she's the one who is causing him to leave, when he's suddenly there by her side. He explains the misunderstanding her ex might have had that brought him to that conclusion. They take separate cars and head home in the pouring rain. Talking via bluetooth, Adrian assures Mia she'll be alright as she hates driving in the rain - they tell each other I love you, when suddenly there's a crash.

Adrian is in an induced coma to help him recover. Mia calls his son Matt, who rushes to be by his dads side. In the hospital, Matt asks Mia if she love his dad. He assures her that his dad will pull through for Mia. "My father's biggest regret was always losing his first love."

Matt and Mia are talking about first loves, and him not wanting to make the mistake his dad did, so he is putting a ring on his girlfriends finger the minute he gets back home. He asks Mia if she'd marry his dad if he asked, and she says yes. Suddenly Adrian squeezes her hand.

Even after 20 years, you can't deny your first love.

4 SECOND CHANCE AT LOVE STARS

First love – can it last forever? Even when there has been 20 years since you last saw each other and your lives have taken completely different turns.

Well Lacey Silks makes you believe that Fate is real and that first love is stronger than anything you have.

Two teens in love, twenty years ago. They were each other’s first and true loves.

Mia stole Adrian’s heart 20 years ago. Circumstances were difficult when living in different countries, but they wanted to be together…

It all came rolling to a stop when circumstances broke them apart. Long distance was not easy and it was heartbreaking.

It was hard to stay in touch. It was painful for Mia not to be with her true love. The only way she could move on was to stop contact with Adrian. Even though this broke Mia’s heart and Adrian’s – they both made sure they knew what the other was doing from a distance. They both moved on, but always kept a place for each other in their hearts.

Then one momentous night out with the girls, she sees him and all the feelings come flooding back.
The history between Adrian and Mia seems so long ago, but this fateful meeting in that bar has Mia feeling every single emotion she did when she was young.

“He lived in Europe and I lived in Toronto. So imagine my surprise when the man I’d lost my virginity to stood less than three feet away from me, in a bar on my girls’ night out.”

Why was Adrian here? So many questions to be answered. So many explanations to divulge.

Mia was truly speechless when seeing Adrian in that bar. He had grown up. Now a sexy, gorgeous tattooed well-built man – she was lost for words.

“It’s our universe, “he said as if reading my mind. “It is ours, isn’t it? And you found me.” “Every time I looked up into the sky I thought of you, especially the Little Dipper.” He pointed toward the constellation. “Why the little Dipper?” “Because you’re my little Thumbelina, and the Little Dipper is…little”.

I loved the way Mia dealt with her situation. One minute she wasn’t sure, the next she couldn’t get enough of Adrian. I also loved the extra tension and diversity her ex husband and mother added to the mix.

And I just adored Adrian. So patient, so loving and caring and just beautiful. He was there for her, to win her back. He took in her family like it was his own. He loved her and has always loved her and now it was their time to be together.

Adrian
"You're my everything"
Ich liebe dich uber alles - I love you more than anything

Are Mia and Adrian destined to be together? Can they make it work?

Or have they grown too far apart to rekindle anything they may have felt?

Who is lucky enough to get a chance at love a second time around – with their first love?

The characters were amazingly real. The storyline was perfect. The sexual tension and chemistry between Mia and Adrian was amazing.

It was a sweet and wonderful story of second chance romance. Full of truth, tears, love, passion, hurt, sexual tension and coming back to your one true love.

My First, My Last was my first Lacey Silks read and certainly not my last. I absolutely loved the premise of this book. It was very sweet and potentially a realistic happenstance. First loves are never forgettable and this story proves that love can prevail if you are determined enough to pursue it. Mia is a great character that has her priorities right, but needs to be a little selfish sometimes, like all mothers.

Mia Claring is a thirty-five year old, single mother that has a complicated relationship with her ex-husband. With two children to think about, being with another man doesn’t even come into the equation until her first love, Adrian Reed appears out of nowhere.

Mia and Adrian met almost twenty years ago in Europe. Mia stayed with her Aunt each summer to see Adrian and he was her first love, first exploration of hormones and first heartache. Every year since she saw him last, Mia has never forgotten what he looks like, smells like or tastes like. But she had to move on and married Dan Claring; together they had two beautiful children now aged 12 and 10.

Mia is out with her best friend Isabelle when she sees Adrian, but cannot believe her eyes. It’s not until he turns and says hello that she is certain. All the air rushes out of her lungs, he still smells the same, but he isn’t the lanky teenager any more. With a deep voice and bulging muscles, Mia is hooked once again. What is he doing here and why now?

Adrian has never forgotten their love, it has only grown stronger and he is now determined to have Mia back forever. Mia is reluctant, Adrian is her dream but she isn’t confident enough to succeed in another relationship, especially with Adrian. If they couldn’t be together, she wouldn’t survive it.

Adrian is resolved and with every chance he can get, he will change Mia’s mind. With the support of Mia’s mother, they get some moments to get to know each other again. With continued interruptions by her family though, will Mia finally give in to her heart?

Everything comes to a head when she chases Adrian to the airport, will he leave? Will they survive another break up? What will Mia’s ex-husband say about Adrian? Will he fit with her children? Did Adrian ever marry?

This one kept me guessing throughout, I just never knew what was coming. With secrets, drama and the very romantic heart of Adrian, My First, My Last was wonderfully intriguing. I cannot wait to read more from Ms Silks. I recommend this to all adult romance readers, lots of fun.

This is the first book I have read by Lacey Silks. I have heard great things about her books, so I was really looking forward to reading My First, My Last.
The book is about 2nd chance romance and the prospect of starting again.
Mia meets her first love Adrian when she is in her teens. They were each other's firsts in every way possible. However one summer circumstances beyond their control tore them apart. Both tried very hard to stay in touch and keep their relationship together, but because of their age and the distance it just wasn't possible. They both eventually stopped contacting each other and move forward with their lives. Moving on however didn't stop either over the years secretly keep tabs on the other, just to check that they was doing ok.
Now it's years later, there bother living completely different lives, but always on each other minds. However on a night out they bump in to each other again. Once they see each other again all the old feelings instantly come back and the old spark between them Is still alive. The only problem is Mia is a mother of 2 and is now divorced to a very nasty man, Adrian has children but hasn't even married, Adrian instantly knows he wants Mia back in his life and she is very hesitant because of her ex and kids to start anything with Adrian.
Mia is somebody thar knows what she wants. She's always wanting to help overs out and do right by people. Everybody's happiness always comes before her own.
Adrian is a lovely character. He was willing to give up everything to be with Mia. He is extremely sweet and caring. You cant help not want a man like him in your life.
I absolutely loved reading a book about second chances and reconnecting with your soul mate. The story was magically in my eyes and one I won't forget in awhile.
The while book is very focused on over coming obstacles, realising what your true worth is and following your heart regardless of the situation.
Mia's ex husband was in the book quite abit. He was very controlling and liked to dictate a lot of what Mia did even when they were divorced. . I didn't like his character at all, but I understood he needed to be in the story to make Mia the way she is, do you can see Adrian start to heal her and her come out of herself and her see she's worth much more than he ex always told her she was.
I did enjoy the story and can defiantly see why people are saying great things about Lacey's writing. I'm looking forward to reading more books from her in the future.

Having read the Layers Deep trilogy by Ms. Silks, I’ve become quite a fan of her work. Picking up one of her books you’re nearly guaranteed a storyline that will get you hooked and well developed characters that are easily to become emotionally involved with. While very different from the Layers Deep trilogy, Ms. Silks fails to disappoint with her latest book. The previous trilogy had an air of suspense, My First, My Last is a classic second chance love story, a premise that I am a serious sucker for!

Mia and Adrian first met as teenagers when Mia would spend summers in Europe with her aunt. For three years she kept up a relationship across the ocean but finally, once she graduated and needed to move on to the “adult” stage of life, Mia and Adrian lose touch, each going their separate ways. Twenty years later, Adrian shows up in Mia’s hometown, hoping to rekindle the flame between them. Mia is bouncing back from a divorce with her unfaithful husband, raising two kids, and finding her place in life as a newly single woman in her late 30s.

There’s no doubt that the attraction still exists between her and Adrian, but she feels guilty getting involved with someone, even if he is a man she knows very well, her first love. Will Mia ever be able to put herself and her happiness first for once? Or will she let her ex-husband and the children remain the focus of her life. More importantly, is Adrian being completely honest with Mia with his intentions of staying where he is? Or will secrets or a tragedy take him away from her once again?

I loved the chemistry between Mia and Adrian. It stars out as a slow burn and quickly ignites into a firestorm. The love scenes are sweet, steamy and well written. Adrian, while not necessarily an alpha male, certainly knows how to take control of the situation and get what he wants. Mia can be a little wishy washy at times, with the constant struggle within herself to come to grips with her feelings.

This was a five star read for me. I loved the connection between Mia and Adrian and the revival of their relationship. It is a testament that regardless of the amount of time that passes, once we find our soul mate, time or distance doesn’t matter, they’ll find their way back to each other. It was well written and I was hooked from the get-go. My First, My Last is a standalone with an HEA.

"You wanted me to be your first"- he paused-"and I want you to be my last."

I’m going to be completely honest and say the reason I wanted to read this book so badly was because of the cover. It completely hooked me in. Just look at it and tell me you don’t wish you were the girl in that picture, or guy. *winks* Of course, I then decided to read the description, and just from the two beginning sentences I was done for. “Fate has kept them apart for twenty years. Their roads hadn’t crossed and the stars didn’t align until now..” HELLO, did that not pique anyone’s interest? Because it sure did pique mine since I’m a true believer of second chances!

Once you begin reading, you’re already pulled right in when Mia encounters Adrian Reed, her first love, after twenty years. YES, TWENTY YEARS. Talk about fate, huh? It’s not much of a mystery that Adrian decided to track Mia down after deciding they both made a mistake when they parted separate ways. But, does Mia feel the same way? Hmm, she’s right in the middle of finally dealing with being a single mother of two, as well as learning to deal with her new ex-husband. Does she have time to balance a relationship with an old flame?

This book is filled with so many incoming events that it seems Mia and Adrian can’t get a chance to finally be alone and reconnect. However, when they finally get to have their moment alone, it seems the flame is back and better than ever. The scenes in the story are so passionate, you’ll be needing a breather after reading a few.

But in all seriousness, I couldn’t have fallen more in love with these characters. It seems second chances just may finally happen for Mia and Adrian. I was rooting for them right from the beginning. #TeamAdrian

I’m definitely adding this book to my favorites list, and I honestly recommend this book for all of you who believe that everyone deserves a second chance. This book had me laughing, smiling and crying. It’s a must read! I give it a 5/5.

On a side note, does the guy in the cover photo look like someone who has a 18/19 year old? Hmm. Seems too good to be true. Just saying.

This is exactly what I needed to read today , a warm light hearted book about second chances , first love and rediscovery !! Childhood/high school sweethearts reunited or still going strong is one of my favorite books to read , maybe because I lost one of my 1st loves when we were still young ?? I don't know but I can never resist these types of love stories.

Lacey managed to deliver that on top of some hot sex and minimal drama !! She had me going for a bit at the end , I was ready to fall off my bed , seriously , but all is good.

On one of her girls nights out Mia runs into Adrian , her 1st love , 1st everything , she has not seen him in 20 years. Her emotions take a rollercoaster ride through her body and she is speechless wondering why he is there and not across the country. Mia is newly divorced with 2 kids. Her ex is a big part of her life still but the second she sees Adrian she is sent into a tailspin of love and lust that even after 20 years overtakes her mind. Adrian feels the same and furthermore he has come all this way for her !! Adrian regrets letting her go all those years ago and he wants their chance to make a forever. He is tired of missing Mia and not finding love elsewhere. Despite them saying they would move slow , they go pretty fast , it is great to read about them getting to know each other again since we did not know them as teens. They talk of the past and share their memories. They really did have something special and you can easily feel that they will have that and more again. Mia's ex Dan feels slightly threatened about her dating but he was a cheating jerk so really who cares. With a little bit of drama from Dan, Mia and Adrian power through and make the most of their second chance. Mia's kids love Adrian and for the most part the story moves nicely without drama. A few ER trips , some heated words and hot sex make their appearances adding a bit of excitement to their journey. The end of the book took me by surprised , I was holding my breath horrified at the outcome. I should have known it was not going to all be full of happiness. Do not let your guard down !! If you do good luck !!

I am interested in reading more of Lacey's books , I enjoyed her writing !!

I received this book as part of a blog tour, this review is my own and I did not receive any compensation other than the ebook.

I gave this book 4 stars, it was going to be a 3 at first because I felt the book dragged a little during the middle. But because the author wrote one part in a way that she mislead me and had my heart crushed, she deserved an extra star for that play with words that led my imagination down the wrong path.

This is a sweet romance story of first love getting a second chance...

The story revolves around Mia and Adrian, who fell in love as teenagers in Vienna during her summer holidays when Mia went to visit her Aunt and cousins.
But being so young and living on different sides of the world the timing isn't right and after a few summers together they part and go their separate ways.

Life goes on and Mia is now divorced and has two wonderful kids, on a much needed girls night out she turns around to see a hunk of a man who looks the spitting image of her first love...

Adrian is now a tattooed eyebrow pierced muscle clad hottie who owns his own business, and although he has had his fair share of relationship troubles, he has never married, although he does have a son in college, and now that his business has brought him to Mia's side of the world, he's on a mission to get the girl of his dreams, the one he wished had never gotten away.

This is a proper romance story, will the stars align and will Mia let her guard down enough to realise that she does deserve to put herself first for once?

Is the love they had twenty-years ago still there? This story takes you on a journey of rediscovery, claiming back the lost hopes of that first all consuming love.

Although the story seemed to get a a bit slow during the middle of the book, the author snuck a plot twist, that will have you grasping for the tissues, it's got all the emotional highs and lows you expect in a romance story, the story was written well and the sex scenes are well written but not OTT.

'My First, My Last’. They said that maybe one day, when the time was right, the stars would realign for them again... Why not give it a read and find out whether they do.

Adrian Reed. He is absolutely perfect. I don’t have many book boyfriends, but Adrian has just joined the short-list. He’s a hot, tattooed, pierced bad boy … on the outside. On the inside, he’s a total romantic who is still deeply in love with his first love, Mia. Even after 20 years, he loves her as much as the day he let her go. So much so, that he’s moving his company half-way around the world so that they can have a second chance at love. Now if THAT is romantic, I don’t know what is.

As much as I love Adrian, I adore Mia. She divorced her husband a year ago for infidelity, yet still manages to maintain an extremely amicable relationship with him for the sake of their children. While she has some insecurities regarding Adrian’s reappearance and his long-term intentions, they’re quite reasonable considering their history and her divorce and Ms. Silks presents them in such a way that Mia doesn’t come off as an overly-angsty character. Both Mia and Adrian’s characters are so realistic that I found myself connecting to them almost immediately. It was a joy to witness the rekindling of their love as their relationship was reestablished and strengthened. The chemistry between Adrian and Mia was amazing, making the sex scenes unbelievably hot. Again. Adrian Reed. New book boyfriend.

Ms. Silks has written a beautiful second chance romance that was a delight to read. That said, I need to apologize to Ms. Silks for all of the curses and nasty names I called her in my head when I started reading chapter 29. I literally had to put my Kindle down and walk away from it for a little bit. While it was not the way I wanted the story to go and I didn’t expect to need tissues while reading My First, My Last, I understand the author’s decision for taking it in that direction and it only made the epilogue that much sweeter. This book has definitely earned a spot on my re-read list.

Adrian and Mia's story is so sweet and yet so stunning. Adrian likes to spoil Mia - as she well deserves but theirs is a story two decades in the making.

We learn right away that Adrian and Mia have a history. They were together 20 years ago, and they were each others firsts for many things.

Adrian tracks Mia down in Canada, after waiting so long to see one another. Her cousins have kept him informed of her marriage and later her divorce. He has waited a respectable year, and now wants to start thing again with the love of his life. If she will have him,

Mia is almost bowled over by just the sight of seeing Adrian again. Her reaction is a good one - since once she has seen him and held his gaze again - she can think of nothing else but being in his arms once more.

The difference now, is that they are both parents, older and wiser, and still the very air sizzles when they look into each others eyes. All Adrian wants is another chance. Mia wants that too. But life has a way of causing you stress and grief. In the 20 years they have been apart Mia has had several traumas happen and her fears crept in.

The divorce being the most recent toll - she tries to remain friends with her ex-husband, start a new relationship up with Adrian, and still be a good mother to her 2 children.

Her family ends up loving him and they see each other often. They heat up whenever they are in the same room. It is so amazing - but there is still real fear for Mia in how fast they are moving along. Even though this is a 2nd chance for them both, it is still so quick. They cannot seem to be apart.

I found this book very endearing and sincere. Love is hard the first time around and the 2nd time there are more obstacles. Anyone who has been in a relationship or married for any length can relate to this story I believe. I love how her family and friends were so supportive and the story came together really nice! Good read!!

I can say that I really enjoyed this story, it was a very cute second chance romance and I really loved the characters. Mia and Adrian had once had a sweet summer love, then Mia had to move away which then ultimately led to them going there separate ways and becoming involved with others. Later in life after two kids and a failed marriage later Mia runs into Adrian while she is out with friends.

One sweet thing I thought about this second chance meeting was that after first it looked like all of the others. You know the kind where the H/h bump into each other and bam there back together. This however didn’t happen in this one because Adrian had planned to find Mia. He contacted her mom and then proceeded to look her up and find her. He knew what he wanted too, he was moving his business to Canada by the time he had presented himself to Mia again he was pretty much settled into her tiny little town. It was clear that he wanted Mia and was there to get her.

~~ “I believe destiny tore us apart for a reason. This way I could come back to you and appreciate you that much more.” ~~

~~ ” You wanted me to be your first, I want you to be my last.” ~~

The story was great, the characters were likable. I even really liked the ex-husband Dan. I feel like this story was very real as far as how things might happen in real life. It was a great escape but the reason I knocked it down to 3.5 stars is because the story moved very slow. There isn’t any angst or much drama that amounts to anything except for near the very end. At one point my heart literally broke…The the author was sneaky and she re-built all the broken pieces.

I really enjoyed this book even if it was a rather slow read. I think for those who aren’t speed readers like I am will actually really enjoy this story, so I encourage you to read it. Actually I encourage you to read it even if your a speed reader, because it’s a very enjoyable sweet read.

5 First Stars!

I recieved a copy of this via netgalley and the publisher and I am so thrilled.

An early release I was blessed to read!

Lacey Silks wrote the very first ARC book I ever got a copy on and hooked me to goodreads indef. Now this book is exactly why I read in the first place. I want romance, naughty bits and true love however fucked up way they get to me .

This isn't a billionaire romance that is so often done this is what every woman dreams about.. What if things with your first Love came back...Do you live happily ever after or is it a fantasy?

Adrian and Mia met in Vienna and their love was that of youths..quick fast and like a fire burned throughout the night and the years. Flash forward and Adrian has a college aged boy and Mia has an ex husband who doesnt understand the word ex and two lovely chilren.

Mia deals with guilt for feeling like she tore her family apart because her Ex had an affair and she wanted a divorce. Once Mia overcomes the feeling like it is her fault she is able to love and be loved by Adrian.. 20 years made them stronger

This is such a sweet romance I cried soo many happy tears loving these two characters. I cried, I laughed, I wished Adrian was mine... This is just everything I wanted to read!

You wanted me to be your first... I want you to be my last
