When visiting the Hermann's Monument in the Teutoburg Forest in Germany I came across this extremely interesting little book on what really happened in that famous battle and what classic authors (e.g. Tacitus) wrote about it. You get a perfect historical overview on one of the blackest defeats the Roman Army ever endured. Probably Latin would be the main language in Europe and the UK if the Romans wouldn't have refrained from conquering the northern hemisphere after this battle. A very insightful and well researched book. But it's only available in German. Highly recommended for everyone interested in history.
