To be honest, I didn't know what to expect when I start reading it but not to be this good for a fantasy short story! It was well written, cute and nicely weird! Kindda felt like a Romeo & Juliet fairy tale.
This. Was. AWESOME!! I loved this short story and I clearly did not expect it to be like that. The writing is beautiful and it's like reading poetry. And even though I'm not much of a romantic-love-aww type of reader I really have enjoyed this short story.
Generally, I am not a fan of short reads but I must say that I quite enjoyed this short story. The imagery was well thought out and captivating. The story of great love and loss was told in a thought provoking manner. Even in the faery world, nobility must make sacrifices for the greater good (Darn the King, her father, for making Ariane marry the human to save the faery lands!).
The portrayal of the love from childhood that was between Ariane and Aureliam was well written and I could feel their love and their hearts breaking when the King ordered Ariane’s wedding to the human. The exit from the ill-fated marriage has been told before, but I still rooted that in the end it would work out for Ariane and Aureliam. I guess it did, in its own way.
Take a chance and read this short story, you won’t be sorry.

Shimmer: A faerie's tragic tale is the story of Ariana and Aurelian, they are very different, Ariana is like the night, and Aureliam is like the day, but somehow they complement each other. Their love is so deep that they'd make everything to be together. this was such an amazing story! very short xC, but it was beautiful. Claudette Melanson writes beautifully. I'd recommend this short and beautiful story to anyone who likes love stories, and fantasy.
Very short story. I thought it was boring but I have to say that I loved this book. The story is so sad as the title says. You're going to love this story, so lovely and romantic.
The Silver Faerie Princess Ariane. The Golden Elf Aurelium. A short story. A poetic love story. The interference of humans. The influence of magic both good and bad. A tragic end.
This is my second time reading books by Claudette Melanson, and I'm pleased with both. I think her books are interesting, the storyline and plots are easy to follow, and fun for all readers.
Shimmer: A Faerie's Tragic Tale by Claudette Melanson
Ariane & Aureliam have grown up together, always knowing they were to be together forever. But Ariane's father has other plans for her future which does not include Aureliam. But they intend to be together at any cost. So Aureliam has laid a plan that will (hopefully) guarantee their life together.
A fabulous faerie story. Both Ariane and Aureliam are likable. Although the story is short, the plot is great, and I found it to be an enjoyable read. Those who love faeries should not pass up Shimmer: A Faerie's Tragic Tale
This is a beautiful short story of love and how quickly it can be taken from you. Taken from the faerie realm where the heroine is deeply in love with her golden hero Ariane is thrust into a despicable union with a human male to prevent the further destruction of the faerie realm. She is saved the ultimate indignity when she is given a means to ensure her human husband would sleep in the belief that they were joined as one. The love the faeries have for each other prevailed even through death and they once again move forward into death together.
A charmingly beautiful story to enchant every princess in life
I was given a free ebook copy of this book, in exchange for an honest review and rating.
This is a sweet little short story. Even though it's just 12 pages long, its poetic tones and dazzling descriptive narrative captured me. And I loved the main character, Ariane! The one thing that didn't felt right was the ending. It might be me, but the ending confused me. But still, I loved reading it. I Recommended it.
Like Denise C. says in her review, I think this is simply too short. I think it's a sweet display of a love story. Though, I would love to read more into it. I would love to read more of Ariane and Aureliam's adventures, the feelings and intentions of the humans and even the plots to destroy the engagement and marriage.
As a short story, I think it's great. However, I think a longer version would be fantastic as well.
I never thought I would like it considering I dislike reading fantasy nowadays but this is an exception. The short story is well-written (though, I hope I would be able to read a novel-length version of this story). It shows how humans can be selfish and cruel at times. That is true, even in reality.

It is hard to believe this tale weighs in at only 10 pages or so. Yes, it is a short read but that is the only thing brief about this tale. Lyric, enchanting, and tragic. A lingering melancholy followed me after reading this. I was touched by the love of these characters and the hardships they endured. Captivating.
This was such a beautiful short story. Magical, tragic, and filled with both hope and hopelessness. It was the cutest thing I've ever read. It would have been great if it was longer, but at the same time, it was just perfect.
I have to admit this is the shortest story I have ever read and I am the queen of reading short stories. This may have been a very very short story but I truly enjoyed it. I am not sure whether I wanted to cry or smile...
Well written, thought provoking, and too short a tale.
Five stars because, even as I want more, I can not find a single flaw in this short story. It's simply wonderful. The ending is excellent and very memorable. :)
I received this book in exchange for an honest review. This is a short story of Elven love. It has the air of Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet. It's a delightful quick read.
