So I’m a fan of MJD. And I like her Queen Betsy series though I’m a few books behind currently. (how can you not love a series where the heroine is Queen Betsy aka Elizabeth Taylor of the vampires?) But I needed something I could read quickly on my break at work. and i thought this would put me back in the groove to catch up on the other books. This story is tangent to the series as Sophie is a vampire who meets up w/Queen Betsy.
Cute, quick, light. Very funny. --especially in that Sophie lives in a town where everyone accepts her b/c she’s the town Vet. Great creativity-a town vampire vet. Liam is a good character whose sexiness & shyness come across well.
Overall, this was a good side trip in the series. I enjoyed it more b/c i understood the references as i've read other books in the series. but GR lists this as a 2.5 in the order so you could probably read it as a stand-alone. Then you'll probably want to check out the rest of the books. I hope these characters show up again later on in one of the books.
Cute short story that is a nod to our Queen, Betsy. Sophie is a vampire veterinarian who lives in Minnesota. Liam has grown up loving her, and finally admits this to her in the middle of a vampiric crisis.
I would have given this 5 stars, except that I get so annoyed with the way all the women characters act in these books. They're all demanding, bossy, manipulative, high-tempered, drama queens. The dialog really doesn't differentiate one screaming woman from another.
This was a pretty good novella. I've not read anything by this author before but I really enjoyed this little story. The characters were likeable and it was also quite witty and sweet at points too.
