Lift the flaps and join the peek-a-boo fun with a little pup searching for his mommy.
Babies and toddlers are invited to lift the flaps and transform the pictures in this bright board book as they follow a puppy who is looking for his mother. Mary Murphy’s colorful illustrations of adorable animals will entice the youngest of children as they discover a variety of mommies and babies along the way.
Children's author and illustrator Mary Murphy enchants even the youngest of readers with her bold style, combining eye-catching graphics and a bouncy text that seemingly jump off the pages.
Mary Murphy has an advanced diploma in Visual Communications and has written and illustrated a number of children's books, including her lift-the-flap, pull-the-tab book about friendship, ROXIE AND BO TOGETHER. In addition to creating children's books, she teaches illustration. The author-illustrator lives in Galway, Ireland.
This was an entertaining and interactive read that the kiddos loved listening to and help solve the silly mystery of who was, and was not, the puppy's mother. I recommend this book for children who are toddlers, rather than children who are preschool age or older, as they would most likely find it too simple.
Five stars from the baby. The illustrations are nice and he loves lifting and pulling on the flaps, which have held up well under his vigorous attentions.
This book is so fun for a read aloud. It’s interactive so it’s good for one-on-one, too. This is a great vocabulary builder because kids can learn words for baby animals they may not have known before.
My daughter enjoyed playing with the flaps, and appreciated the opportunity for me to make animal voices. I appreciated having an edition with 'Mummy', instead of 'Mommy'.
My toddler is obsessed with lift-the-flap books right now, especially ones that involve animals (actually, I don't think we've come across any that DON'T involve animals). This doesn't particularly stand out from all the other books of this variety that she has been attracted to lately, but it was cute. She's just such a big fan of lifting flaps and making animal sounds.
Cute illustrations and very straightforward and repetitious. But, luckily, not long enough to become boring. Adding the sound effects was fun and the parents always like to moo along.
