Uncle John's Lists that Make You Go Hmmm . . . puts a whole new spin on Uncle John’s unique brand of trivia. Readers will be treated to 288 pages of irresistible easy-to-digest lists featuring short facts, fascinating history, and weird news—plus lists about science, sports, quotes, wordplay, showbiz, and random oddities. Some “4 Yellow Things (and Why They’re Yellow”), “5 Dumb Crooks Who Led the Cops Right To Them,” “The 6 Smartest Dog Breeds,” “7 Lists of 7s” (on page 77), “Hollywood’s 8 Stupidest Science Goofs,” “9 Celebrity Marriages that Didn’t Outlast Milk,” and “The 10 Commandments (and 10 Politicians Who Broke Them).”
The lists were interesting enough, as were the random trivia snippets that served as page numbers. Since the book was published in 2015, some of the lists were definitely dated, but a fun read.
1.0 out of 5 stars Worst of the Uncle Johns Readers.........I feel ripped off. I have probably bought 15-20 different ones and "used to" recommend them.
Another in the Uncle John bathroom reader series. I've read several of these and they are all good, although some better than others. This one was various lists. Some I enjoyed and others I only skimmed through. I don't remember anything that particularly stood out. The nice things about these books is they are good for what they are designed for -- reading in the bathroom. The format also makes it easy to skip things you don't care about. I'll likely be getting another bathroom reader soon.
A fun read without much mental stress. The lists are so eclectic (travel and leisure, winners and losers, life and death) that there is probably somehting that you would enjoy. At the same time, it's too easy to turn the pages to find the next crazy list.
And, yes, it is brought to you by the Bathroom Readers' Institute, All part of the fun.
I love a book of lists and this was no exception! The more obscure the fact, the more I like it. Great source of trivia to share with friends. Recommended.
