Gabe Summerville has been thrown for a loop. His father has just announced that his bank has been used for laundering money and he needs to send Gabe away to keep his son safe. Gabe refuses to leave, insisting that he can help. But once Miller Legend is called in to protect Gabe, all bets are off. The attraction is instant and Gabe soon finds that he is fighting a losing battle, especially when Legend is a temptation he can't resist.
Miller Legend belongs to Executive Bodyguards, a personal protection service that has settled in Bear County. When Legend takes the assignment to be Gabe's bodyguard, he has no idea that Gabe is about to change the rules. Legend doesn’t believe in mixing business with pleasure, but soon finds his resistance to Gabe is futile. He must not only keep Gabe safe, but coax the human into pleasures the man could only dream of.
Lynn Hagen loves writing about the somewhat flawed, but lovable. She also loves a hero who can see past all the rough edges to find the shining diamond of a beautiful heart.
You can find her on any given day curled up with her laptop and a cup of hot java, letting the next set of characters tell their story.
Parts of this series I like... glossing over the pregnancy is NOT one of them. The fact that they HAVE to get pregnant I also do NOT like. This one was weird. Like the buildup between them was hot but the background noise didn't really cut it. Being on the run just didn't feel like it was exploited enough.
I will probably continue with this series though it will never be near a favorite. And while the covers are beautiful, the ... depiction.. of characters on the covers have been annoying me. Can't really pinpoint it but perhaps its the hair.. Clearly not everyone can be happy and I still think the artwork is nice just not my preference.
I haven't read the first ones in this series but I don't think it was necessary. We have Gabe who is in need of protection after his father figures out their bank was being used for money laundering and Legend who is the protector. At first I thought Legend was his dad's friend and here he was perving after the son but Legend was the son of the friend so not so squicky. Gabe is Legend's mate and after their first sexual encounter ends up preggers (yay 10 SH points) but he didn't even mention he was a shifter so the shit hit the fan. Entertaining read but nothing I'll remember later.
I have a very soft spot for these little shifter books. For whatever reason I love the whole mating your mine thing. This series is great because of the Mpreg factor.
But this one really feel short. I'm 5 books into this series and I still want the Mpreg part way more detailed. I want to know how it works. Why are all these newly pregnant men that are being thrown into this new world not flipping out that they are pushing babies out their asses? lol
Average shifter novel - didn't have as much "mate, mine!" as some and Gabe seemed to have a bit more backbone than most mates, though he was definitely tstl on more than one occasion. Having the third perspective of Gabe's father was odd and didn't really add anything.
I didn't read any other story of this series and now I am going to cause Lynn Hagen's way of telling story is fast pace without to much of a drag. She creates a issue and then solves it right away which holds your interest in such bizarre situation on male pregnancy. Gabe and Legend story was a simple plot,Gabe being under Legend's protection finding each other attractive, sizzling hot chemistry between to mate and a unexpected pregnancy.Yeah I know not very original but short and didn't I mention sizzling hot.Legend was a bear shifter and thankfully not much detail of Legends shifting into a bear. Not a bad read.
Everything was pretty decent up until the end where Gabe's father failed to mention a few particulars regarding his "retirement". I also would have liked a bit more detail in regards to the results of the interrogation. It didn't seem to tie together with the other shooting. Thus I am left feeling frustrated. This made me drop the second star.
Gabe and Legend. You know, I have a HUGE problem with people threatening and then not following through. Gabe is pissed, but yet does nothing. Then again, Miller catches him, but he's an ass. I REALLY didn't like Legend.
Another great great book I love that the man had the babies to bad it's not real it would be nice but the book is an out of this world hit .. Can't wait to read the next one in this series hope it gets here soon .......
Really enjoyed the mpreg aspect a lot. I do wish it didn't just skim over that part though, I would have enjoyed it more had we got to experience his pregnancy and the birth and then getting to know that child more. I liked how snarky Gabe was, his back and forth banter with Legend was really cute.
I'm giving this a 3.8 because I liked Legend. Be it his cool name or the fact that he is x-military I don't know. I also might have a thing for his "darker side" who knows. Again, this could have been really good of a little more detail.
This is a quick read that does not pretend to be a masterpiece. Gabe’s father hires Miller Legend to protect him. One thing leads to another and Gabe is mated to Legend. It was a enjoyable book.
This book sets up the next set of bears to find their mates and make pretty babies with ex military team member Legend playing bodyguard to an old friend
