Scarlett Jade is just a small town girl with big dreams who loves to write. She has always been found from a young age with her brow furrowed, scribbling words on paper or her nose in a book. Now that she is grown, life isn't much different, she still scribbles words, but mostly on the computer, and her nose is permanently glued to e-books! She is married to the man of her dreams, her real life knight in shining armor and Prince Charming and has one son who is the apple of her eye. You can typically find her playing in the dirt with her son, toying with her indoor vegetable garden, or snuggled on the couch with her dog Peanut Butter and cat Jelly, reading a good book. She loves chocolate, thinks coffee should be a religion, and loves to make people laugh with her quirky sense of humor. She is bold, brazen, and even been told she's ballsy, but she doesn't mind, she takes it in stride. She has a huge passion for all things paranormal and spicy love stories that leave you turning the pages and dying to slide between the sheets of the next book!

“Is there anything you've ever wanted for your life?”

“What every girl wants, of course. To be the princess of the world, marry a prince, live happily ever after.”

And what a paranormal fairytale this was, the first part in a serial series, introduced us to the two main leads, the sexy multimillionaire who turns into an abomination once a month; half-vampire / half-werewolf, not enough of one to be welcomed amongst his kin. Taking time out during the full moon he is alone in his cabin with a woman whose smell entices a reaction out of him that he has never felt before, wanting her like any other.

Love at First Bite is a taste of this too good to be true fairytale with a little twist, there is more to the story but not something I am dying to get to just yet, It was wasn’t bad but it wasn’t great either, maybe when the story is put together it will have a different feel. Quick, short, steamy read.

Phenomenal, I fell in love with Sasha and Jeremy from the beginning. She is such a strong woman and him coming to her resuce.

Jeremy Parks is half vampire/half wolf. Both clans turned their back on him. So alone in the world, he makes a name for himself and becomes a millionaire before 30yrs old. Being that he is half and half, he only get blood thirsty around the full moon. While at his cabin hunting animals for sustainence, he smells the most delicious smell he's ever come across. On his property he finds the body of a girl, still breathing but bleeding from a head wound.

Sasha Evans is a 25yr old virgin who had always put her life on hold to take care of her family. With a mom who is really sick and two younger sisters, she quit school and took on a few jobs to make sure her mom got treatment and her sisters can get great educations. While headed to Chicago, her car breaks down in the middle of no where, without a cell phone, she decides to walk to the nearest person. after walking for hours in the blistering August heat and sun, she happens upon a cabin in the woods. While headed up to the door, she trips and knocks her head on a rock, knocking her unconscious.

Jeremy picks up Sasha and takes her inside to care for her head wound. He assumes she has been sent there to tempt him by the Vampire clan and accuses her of some pretty horrible things. After they work that out, she sets ground rules and their story begins.

Ex-girlfriend's and amazing sex all come in to play in this fabulous first installment. About to hop on to book 2.... can't wait to see what happens with his vampire venom in her blood... looks like you'll have to read the books.... (insert evil laugh here) ;)

I picked up this book without much of an expectation. It was a vampire novel and I felt the need to get in my weekly vampire story in

The book was exactly what I thought it would be. The author has a good flow to her story but she also left some obvious spelling/grammar mistakes (I know my spelling and grammar is not great but if I can pick them out, then...). The word "The,” for example, should have been a "They" if I do recall one.

Anyway, as for the story, this is an erotic genre but I feel it was written for the YA age group (minus the sex element parts of course). Maybe it's me, but having some guy buy clothes for me and sweep me off to Paris and NY to eat fancy stuff, go shopping, and do everything a YA person would fantasize about having or doing, just doesn't appeal to the older version of me. To me having a guy buy clothes for me would feel like an insult. I would personally feel that I did not measure up to the standards he expects. Where is the "Like me for who I am" mentality? It seems to be missing in a lot of these types of self published books lately.

Then there is the whole job thing. The lead character is swept off her feet and even offered to be hired as the lead guy's personal chef. First, I think I missed the actual part where she actually cooked for him. I think she said she wanted to go to a school to learn how to because she loves to cook, but that still did not mean she actually could cook well. It like singing, you either can or you can't, and most of the time people who can't think that they can. Same thing here. A bit later though, she does manage to cook up some steaks leaving his bloody rare, yet I still did not read that he was overly amazed by her cooking skills. It also makes it unbelievable because cooking for her ill mother and two sisters would not really make home meals cuisines because she would not have had the money for all the ingredients or the time to sit there and make it. Not really a likely scenario for her character. I think I've missed the part where the vampire could even eat anything. Maybe it is the werewolf side that can, but I feel that is too loosely fitted into this story.

The biggest issue for me is the lack of personal drive here. Maybe it's a fantasy to have a 180 degree lifestyle change overnight but in reality, I don't believe us as adults really embarrass that fantasy. I think as adults we realize the whole picture of which that dream entails, which is why I believe that this story was written for the YA crowd. No job means extra weight gain, no personal feeling of accomplishments, and handing away your choices and freedoms to someone else. As adults, we cherish the feelings for our accomplishments, so this "Getting Whatever You Want" thing for "The Family Feud" 100 people surveyed lists as a fantasy, Survey says: Doesn't really rock my boat.

As a person who has experienced the struggles that this world can throw at you at every chapter of your life, I find that character personality traits for a strong and hard working person would be too proud and stubborn to allow someone to just take the reins from them and drive. It's just not possible really to find that statement not true. So the character here seems to conflict with the type of person who took care of her mother and two younger sisters, whom she has the burden of paying for their college and her mother's treatments. It was fine all the way up until she accepted the clothes and the "Ok, I can do with a bit of a vacation." Personally, I would expect that a strong survivor character would be leery of cabin guy/vampire and find a way to ditch dude (most likely left him in the water and took off with the boat) and find a way to obtain a phone and a tow since the cabin boy/multimillion dollar couldn't manage that. Those damn survivor types tend to be too damn resourceful and too stubborn to just give up or place the task in the hands of someone else to accomplish. Survivors DON'T responsibilities to the fate of other people.

This also brings me to another point. The rich guy could have a nurse for her mother in less than eight hours, food brought to the house, clothes delivered, and two college scholarships paid for but couldn't find a tow or a mechanic? Don't you think that a girl with attributed such as being smart and bright would question his intentions and seek alternative means of escape? I mean he is written as a person who can have everything done at his slightest command. Does that not seem a bit irritating to just ignore this fact, character and read alike? Nope, I would have ditched his butt once he dived into the water.

Then of course you cannot have a romance story without the ex-bimbo appearing somewhere in the story. Their appearance is a staple for what elements HAVE to always be. Come on, I found the ex rather amusing really. Okay... not so much. I realize that there are those people who are like that but please, jealousy is more a guarantee if the other party is somewhat clueless and a willing participant in the exes attempt to seduce. That did not happen here and I kind of felt the lead character's reaction was over blown and childish.

Sex scenes were fine, though it took a bit to lead up to them. The first time I felt drawn out and for someone who's suppose to be part werewolf, not jumping into her bed that second night would have happened but it did not.

There is also the fact that the male character is BOTH vampire and werewolf and with the small exception of the full moon reference, it mainly focuses on his vampire traits. There are some anger issues that appear but nothing that triggered the "Werewolf" character traits. You cannot separate the actions with any other person's anger level. The traits for a werewolf are not clear or evident except for the inserted animal craving once every full moon. I've read werewolf stories and aggression; fighting, dominance, and possession are all constant factors. Here we have to assume that he is attracted to her because of her scent. It is only implied at the beginning but there are times I feel that possessive element is missing from the story.

Basically I feel that there are parts and elements that are not evenly stirred well together in this story.

This also is not a standalone story and you are left with an unfinished book. This seems to be the growing trend to these books lately but it also adds that extra mark against the author and their stories. When you read stories like "Fury" and "Moon" by Laurann Dohner or "A Hunger Like No Other" by Kresley Cole whose stories are a part of a series, this unfinished, short books feel like a joke to authors who finish a book in its entirety before starting another book in the series. I don't know about you but I really did hate "To Be continued" television shows that would leave you high and dry at the end of the season. You end up waiting for the program to start but totally forget about it until you find that years later it was cancelled and no one knows how it ended.

Over all, I did not really expect too much from this book. There was not a witty line or epic quote in it. It was a short read (or at least I thought until it referenced a second book). It is a "Meh" type of book for my standards, in my opinion. You be the judge for yourself. It would not be a book that I would re-read over and over again, and since that is my standards for rating a book, I barely give this story a 3 star review.

What a phenomenal book!
I love the way Scarlett Jade portrayed her characters; Sasha, a strong leading woman who is a virgin but not afraid to go after what she wants. And Jeremy? So swoon worthy! A charming millionaire who is obviously head over heels in love with our beloved feisty heroine while he tries to navigate his own tricky waters. The chemistry between the two was hot and heavy; there was no doubt they are meant to be.

The point of view switches often between Sasha and Jeremy; this is something I love! Being inside each of their minds was great, I thought it really helped to connect me with them. But I know it bugs others...
I didn't find it hard to keep up with them though I wish this book was longer. Some details were skimmed over and the time skips were kind of frequent.
I have to deduct a star for some of the repetitive lines. It made things a bit distracting and is one of my personal pet peeves.

Everything was quick paced and otherwise well written. Sasha meets a mysterious man in the woods after her car breaks down who is cautious until he learns that she is who she says she is. Jeremy is a man who has never been seriously pulled to a woman before he meets the luscious and lonely Sasha wandering out by his cabin. It's love at first sight but he has some secrets that could destroy them. Will he be able to protect her from his own urges? Will she except him for who he is?

I could seriously go on and on about everything I loved in this story. The ending wasn't abrupt exactly, but flowed well with the rest of the plot line and really had me on the edge of my seat. Now I NEED to know what happens next! I was gripped by this book and couldn't stop until I read the last page- even then I was buying the next addition and getting ready to devour that as well. Scarlett Jade may not have written much, but she's on my list of favorite authors now and I will be eagerly awaiting the next installment.

Sasha being the stubborn independent person she is strikes out on her own after her car breaks down in the middle of nowhere. Where she ends up is with a man like no one she’s ever met, but is she safe? Jeremy is different and dangerous although she doesn’t quite understand why at first. And doesn’t understand why she’s falling for him.

Being alone for a few days, disconnected from the rest of the world allows them to get to know each other just enough to make it impossible to be apart. Sasha is smart and sassy and makes a great compliment to Jeremy’s powerful yet protective character. She’s swept off her feet despite the darkness of Jeremy’s composition. She is not afraid and is determined to tackle Jeremy’s past head on.

This story is a quick read, is catchy and grabs your attention. By the title you expect vampire all the way and I was pleasantly surprised that it was too deep rooted in what I think of traditional vampire type books. I was hooked on the characters and their struggles. Jeremy’s internal struggle about what is versus who he is and wants to be was believable. And the sarcasm and whit he showed throughout the book was enjoyable.

I think the way the author sculpted the story is best described as balanced. Love at First Bite is the prefect mix of paranormal, sass, love and mystery. And that to me made this book a great read. I was also pleased to find out there was already a sequel to this book because I am wanting more of Sasha and Jeremy’s story.

**I was gifted this book for my honest review**

What is it like when you find your true mate? Bells ring, fire works go off, and you live happily ever after. To bad that doesn’t happen in real life. Jeremy Parks is not your normal self-made millionaire. He is part vampire, part wolf; yet fights against his primal animal instincts in order to remain human. But all of that changes once a certain Sasha falls in his path. Sasha has a certain charm and way about her that captures Jeremy’s heart. So where is the problem? The problem is Jeremy is unable to control the animal within and ends up putting Sasha in danger. Jeremy does the only thing he can do; which is to take his beloved Sasha to Claudio, his grandfather. This decision is heart breaking and does NOT bring about the desired outcome Jeremy wanted. In fact, Sasha is in more danger and there is more at stake now.

This book was astonishing! I kept thinking I would stop reading at the end of the next chapter, but was unable to that. I had to keep reading to see what would happen to Jeremy and Sasha. The author did an amazing job of keeping this reader on her toes! The ending was so shocking that I am still reeling from it. I cannot wait to read the next novel to see how things work out for these wonderful characters.

I would recommend this book!

3 1/2 Stars...

Okay, I learned my lesson. I really liked the story, I liked the characters and I liked Scarlett Jade's take on vampires. The only thing I didn't like was the ending and that's only because it was a cliff hanger.... in less than 100 pages! Yikes!
What's the lesson I learned? This was just at taste. A teasing, frustrating taste and I should have looked at more closely before I snatched it as a freebie. If I had just a little more patience I would have noticed that the entire trilogy is available in one volume - which I will be picking up shortly. Mainly because I NEED to know what happens next. Sneaky, sneaky authors! LOL!

I received Love at First Bite as a free download from Amazon on August 19, 2013 and read it as part of my Why Buy the Cow 2013 Reading Challenge.

I've never read a story about a werewolf/vampire before so had no expections. Overall, I enjoyed this book quite a bit. I liked the connection between Jeremy and Sasha; they seemed like a matched pair and she had no qualms excepting his "background".

Can't figure out though why if he loved her so much he would leave her with a man like Claudio. My feelings for Jeremy changed instantly. Why didn't he turn to Trevor and ask for help like he did with everything else? Additionally, what is Trevor; a normal human, vampire or werewolf? His character could have been expanded on quite a bit since he plays an important role in Jeremy's life.

This book was a fast read and was glad the second book was already available for me to keep reading.

Free download. This is a different kind of supernatural story. It's about Jeremy a half vampire, half werewolf hybrid. Unaccepted by either side he's learned to live alone, he's hot, rich and a loner. Sasha is on her way home after dropping off her sister at college but her car breaks down, she wanders around trying to find someone to help, but an accident puts her in Jeremy's path. After misunderstandings are dealt with and their attraction develops, the story begins to unfold. I did enjoy the story, but found certain parts lacking, the plot is good, the characters meaningful, the sex is great, the supernatural idea is good, and the book has lots of angst. I do want to see how Jeremy and Sasha's story continues, and it's worth reading if you enjoy paranormal stories.

shockingly short!

Jeremy is a half breed, part werewolf part vampire. he has a heightened sense of smell and hearing, but only gets the blood lust on the full moon. He retreats to the woods at this time to slate that lust. He NEVER bites humans.

Sasha's car breaks down, in the middle of the afternoon, in blazing heat. she sets off and ends up on Jeremy's doorstep, bleeding, in the middle of the full moon.

a fairly predictable tale, not ever so taxing on the brain. Like I said, far too short, I refuse to pay £1.32 for 68 and 96 pages for part 2 and 3.

my cover picture is different to this one.

This story was not that out of the usual paranormal norm.. Its the same plain Jane stumbling upon a super hot and rich guy , who in this case is a part were and part vamp.. The story put me off in some places but there were some good bits too..

What actually really shocked me was the part when Jeremy reveals his paranormal identity and Sasha's like " I guess its okay .. I've seen it in movies and stuff soo its fine.." For me , any story has to feel real and this part where the girl is devoid of any shock or surprise at the paranormal coming real is just a bit fake.. Actually a big fake.. it kinda made me uneasy through the book..

Jeremy is half vampire and half wolf. He doesn't trust anyone and when he notices Sasha in the woods he thinks she is sent by the vampires to get to him. He decides that he will keep her near until he finds out what she is about.

He finds out that she is what she says she is. He ends up helping with her mother's medical bills and with her siblings.

This turned into more of a read then I thought it would be. I love books that are paranormal and this one really filled the spot. You just know that Jeremy and Sasha are meant to be together.

First off, I'd like to explain that I really enjoyed Jeremy's "secret." It added a nice touch that since he's one-of-a-kind that he doesn't really know many aspects of his own abilities, etc. But, Love at First Bite was extremely rushed and in very bad need of editing. Also, it is a serial, which was not known before I started it - so it abruptly drops off at the end, to continue with the next installment in the serial, Once Bitten, Twice Shy. For an Amazon free read it wasn't bad- I'll only continue to the next if I can find it for free as well.

This book was...ridiculous. I wanted it to be good, and it started to somewhat go that way, but then the language kept turning me off, and I wanted to see what was going to happen, so I kept reading. Yup ended with a complete cliff hanger telling me to go buy part two, I wouldn't have kept going if I knew it wouldn't have told me what happened. I don't like when authors split up one book just to sell multiple copies, not saying this is what this author did but from what I read, it may be possible. I liked the idea of a half vamp half werewolf, but I wasn't overall taken with this book.

I was given Love at First Bite by Scarlett Jade for an honest review. The book pulls you in right away as you try to figure out what Jeremy is besides a large sexy alpha male. When he finds Sasha hurt and on his property he is confused by the feelings she provokes in him. Sasha is a women use to taking care of everyone but has little self-esteem so she is overwhelmed by Jeremy and how he wants to care for her. The book is great and the characters draw you right in the book goes by quickly and is easy to read. I give it 5 stars.

I really enjoyed the start of this series and it was interesting to see the start of this relationship but also to see it from the same point of view as the characters involved. I didn't know if I would enjoy the switching of POV but the author made it work.

even though this was a short story I still enjoyed the work it didn't deter me from enjoying it at all. I usually will read these when it is late at night or when I am between books.

Wow I really enjoyed this book. I downloaded for free from Amazon, and fancied a quick read so chose this. I loved it, I'm not a huge fan of paranormal novels but this was really good. Thinking it was a stand alone I didn't put much thought into it, but now I can't wait to read the next book. I loved Jeremy and Sasha and am desperate to know what is happening to Sasha, if she is turning, and if so into what?? If you like books involving Vampires and Werewolves with a twist this is for you.

'Love at First Bite' is full of some romance, hot and steamy sex and a mystery that Sasha bravely unravels. I loved the storyline. The paranormal aspect is not your typical story. Fast paced and great characters are what makes this a great read. I loved Sasha's character. She is definitely feisty and has a great humorous personality. I look forward to reading Book 2. A great add to your tbr list. Recommended read.

A great supernatural read, a little short, but great cliff-hanger ending. A chance encounter having broken down on the nearby highway, brings Sasha into Jeremy's life. He has his secrets, which Jeremy has no intention of revealing but Sasha captivates him, he finds it impossible to stay away. Jeremy makes the ultimate sacrifice for Sashas safety, will it all work out, another twist or two, ....... you'll have to read it to find out, it's worth it

Good story but I just kept thinking abut the references to Twilight. I loved those books and this one was similar with the plus of sex. I definitely want to know what happens to Sasha and if JJ actually does something to split them. I totally like Jeremy, handsome, rich and half vampire half werewolf, what more can I ask?

I just finished this series. The only other book about vampires was the Twilight Saga. This was nothing like it at all. The story had me at the very beginning. Jeremy and Sasha were wonderful together. There are alot of twists in the book, which I loved that. It is a very good love story and will recommend to my friends.

I did enjoy this book although to be honest I wasn't entirely sure at first, but as I read on, I got sucked in more and more into the storyline and with it not being a long book, I finished it in one morning. I never saw that ending coming so now I'm in a hurry to get on to the next book in the series Once Bitten, Twice Shy.

It kept good pace. my attention was captured when Jeremy was known be vamp and wolve. Sasha just cracked me up with her balls to wall attitude. Moving on to book 2 now.

Although this book had a good story line it had a lot of faults that kept me from enjoying it. One was when it wasn't switching points of view at a dizzying pace, it seemed like one run on sentence with each point of view. Almost as if too much information was being given, yet actually no information was available.

Meh...

There's a line in this book about all the crappy paranormal romances on the heroine's Kindle. Can you say "irony"? The heroine is headstrong (OK, pigheaded) to the point of terminal stupidity. The hero decides he is no good for his lady love, sets her aside, and embarks upon a life of gross debauchery. Wow, what a prince. There are better books out there, much better.
