Tough. Hardened. A sad past that fuels her need for justice. She may be one of the few female cops at her precinct, but she’s the best. Until she’s put undercover.
Intimidating. Powerful. A dark, illegal side that dictates his life. He may be a criminal, but he’s good at it. No one crosses him without paying a price.
When good meets bad, the lines are blurred. Two people from opposite sides of the law collide. Fiery attraction. Explosive chemistry. An instant connection.

You know I am so Thug Life…NOT. I am the farthest thing from Thug Life. I am so white bread, teacher, married forever is it pathetic. I wear, or wore when my kids played ball, the shirts that said “Baseball Mom”. In rhinestones. With a baseball for the O in mom. Totally NOT Thug Life. More like Car Pool Life. But I can read Thug Life. And love it.
Maya’s father was killed when she was nine. For stealing from a drug dealer. She has devoted her life to not only atoning for his death but also just crime stopping in general. She is now a detective on the mean streets of Detroit. When she is asked to go undercover to infiltrate the drug scene she has no problem jumping right in.
Of course I can handle it. I’m Maya Simpson.
Ben aka Pac is a nice kid who has had to make some hard choices and some not so nice friends to stay alive. To keep his Grammy safe and to put lots of homemade biscuits on the table. He is the second in command for the largest drug dealer in town. So naturally he is going to meet up with Undercover Maya.
This is my territory, and you’re traipsing through it like you’re fucking Princess of the Ghetto.
Ben and Maya have hot chemistry together. Ben knows Maya is lying about something. In fact, lying about lots of somethings, but he can’t get his brain to think faster than his…..other brain. Maya is doing her job. She is undercover after all. She is playing the part. She plays it so well she can’t differentiate between Undercover Maya and the Real Woman Maya. Apparently they are both in agreement that they want Ben. And Ben wants her. Even if he knows there is more to the story. He lets his Drug Dealer Guard down.
It will have to do for now, Maya. I’m selfish and I want you regardless of the fact that you’re holding back. But I can’t promise I won’t begin to resent that….For the sake of something good, us, just don’t. I really liked this book. It was hot, hot, hot. The story was quick and sucked you right in. You don’t know whether to root for the drug dealers or the cops. Sometimes they are one and the same. Take a walk on the Thug Side.

“All I need in this life of sin is me and my girlfriend.Down to ride 'til the very end, it's me and my boyfriend. All I need in this life of sin is me and my girlfriend.Down to ride 'til the very end, it's me and my boyfriend” ~Bonnie & Clyde Jay-Z
Ring the alarm because K. Webster will take her readers into the world of sex, drugs, crime, murder, revenge and gangstas. That’s right you are entering in the urban world where the laws of justice and love begins to get blurred when an undercover female cop not only stumbles in the world of drugs but into the arms of the second in command of the drug ring. In the law enforcement community, one takes a vow to serve and protect the community. So what happens when you are conflicted of doing what is right? Will love get in the way of doing your job? So what will it be...love or law?
Love and Law was a quick read that centers on a female cop, Maya Simpson as she works her way up in the ranks of the law enforcement. As a rising cop, she gets assigned to case to bring down the drug dealers that are invading the inner city of Detroit. This case means a lot to Maya as she witnessed her father murdered when she was 9 years old when he got involved with the wrong crowd selling drugs. Witnessing the man who murdered her father was forever ingrained in her mind. So when Maya goes undercover, she soon finds herself attracted to Ben, the second in command of the drug ring. So what happens when the good girl finds herself falling in love with the bad boy? Can Maya fulfill her job as a cop and take down the drug ring even if it means betraying Ben?
Overall, Love and Law was an enjoyable read. Right off the bat, you instantly saw the attraction that was brewing with Maya and Ben. Together these two had a sexual chemistry that was sizzling. There was no denying it that in the short amount of time, Maya and Ben soon found themselves in a world where there was no turning back. Maya was able to easily hide she was undercover but she couldn't hide the fact that she was falling in love with a criminal. What I love about this book was that K.Webster didn't have a perfect hero. There was no prince charming or knight in shining armor. Instead, K. Webster welcomed us to world of urban street love. A world where everyone is flawed and real. So if you are looking for a book where crime, passion, love, and justice are all incorporated then go read Law and Love. In the words of Jay-Z, “ All I need in this life of sin is me and my girlfriend.”

3.5 stars This book is not an example of how extremely talented K. Webster is! This is the least innovative book I've read by her so it was frustrating, knowing how much more she is capable of. Ignoring all of that, this was an entertaining read.
Maya is just a little girl when she sees her dad get killed by non other than a drug dealer. Her world is turned upside down when her mother leaves her behind and her father is murdered, leaving her aunt to care for her. Maya had a horrible life growing up and always wanted to get her revenge for the loss of her father. Maya grows into a tough cop and wants to put all the bad people in jail, where they belong. She is one of the youngest lady’s at Detroit’s Police Department. She has an amazing best friend whom is also her partner, Miguel. He’s in love with her but she won’t give in, she wants nothing to do with relationships. Maya goes undercover when a young woman gets killed in a drug deal gone wrong. The first person she meets is Pac, but his real name which nobody knows is Ben Cartright. She has to put up a front and tells him she’s been kicked out of her parents home and needs a job.
“I’ll keep you safe. No matter if you want me or not, I’ll always do my best to keep you safe. You’re my partner. My best friend.”
“Pac” falls for Maya instantly and wants to help this sweet, beautiful lady but he also wants to claim her fine ass! While Pac takes Maya to the warehouse where she will sleep at nights, and train by day to go on the streets, she meets some other new ladies whom she does not get along with. When a fight breaks out between the ladies, Pac comes to the warehouse to handle the situation. This is when sparks fly between Maya and Pac and they can’t keep their hands off each other. He is smitten with her and can’t understand what this hold is that she has on him.
Maya falls for this wonderful man, but he is also a drug dealer. She is torn, does she turn her back on the man she loves or does she risk everything she’s worked so hard for to protect him? Will Maya ever find the man who took her father away while working for Detroit’s PD? How will Ben ever get away from Oculus without getting killed? There are so many unanswered questions and the only way to know what happens is to pick up this amazing book and read it.
“I love you, Ben. I want to run away from reality – to be stuck in a perfect world with you.”
I loved this book! I’m normally not one for books that involve drug dealers but this is so different and SO HOTTT! You will not be disappointed in the sex scenes, that’s for sure. Ms. Webster knows how to write the red hot sex scenes that always wheel me right in. This is a romance with some slight suspense. This is a stand alone novel. I give this 5 Amazing Stars!!! Ms. Webster does it again with her fantastic writing. And Ben’s grammy, OMG LOVED HER! She is so much fun, Ben’s grammy needs to somehow be in all of this lovely Author’s books.
An enticing read by K. Webster. Love and Law was great! In this book we are introduced to a world of crime, drugs, revenge, passion, desire and love. Maya was 9 years old when she witnessed her father's murder, she has since become one of the finest officers the Detroit P.D. has. Detroit is a city filled with drugs and crime, the P.D. has a huge problem on their hands and that is where Maya comes into play. Maya is given her first undercover job as a drug dealer trying to infiltrate one of these dangerous street crews and that is where it gets good! Maya has a partner named Miguel and for years he has had a thing for her, one night it goes a bit far but they agree to remain friends. Miguel isn't really happy with Maya's undercover role but as her partner he is there to support her. On one of her first days undercover Maya meets Ben (Pac on the streets) and he takes Maya on as a trainee for his crew. Ben is instantly attracted to Maya as she is to him, she wants him bad but is she getting in too deep? We see Maya struggle over her position as an undercover cop and her growing feelings for Ben. Throughout this Ben knows Maya is keeping a secret from him, he just can't figure out what that secret is, and if or when the truth comes out will he be able to handle it? and how will their relationship survive? This had me hooked page by page, I could not wait to see how this was all going to play out. As usual K. did not fail with her sex scenes, they were hot! This book also made me think about the labels we put on people...yes, Maya was a cop but that didn't define her as a person, and Ben might have done some bad things but he also wasn't just a criminal... let me also mention that I loved Ben's Grammy, she was a really fun and loveable character. 5 stars to Love and Law
The characters were so strong and came to life right in front of your eyes. It's like watching a movie as you read the book. I love that feeling of sinking right in and seeing nothing around you or hearing anything but the words.
While I did enjoy reading this book it was not without its flaws. The h is supposedly one of the best detectives in the department but acts like a rookie cop. Her behavior right from the beginning was immature and unprofessional. There was no depth to this character. The H's grandmother was ridiculous. No one who goes to church as much as her and does not allow cursing will be ok with her grandson having sex with a woman in her house. Plus, her reaction to discovering the H's secret was pretty unrealistic. The H, by the way, is a chauvinistic pig. He demands that his grandmother have his favorite foods cooked for him by the time he comes home and does nothing to help her around the house. He is one of those guys that believes a woman's place is in the kitchen. The h goes from almost sleeping with her partner to having sex with a man she just met. When she confronts the villain that murdered her father she says, "you killed my daddy." DADDY!!! What adult woman says daddy?
The cop who falls in love with a criminal . Maya Simpson goes undercover to bust a drug ring ran by Oculus, the eye - patch ruthless killer who killed her Daddy when she was nine. Benjamin Winston Cartwright "Pac" is his right hand man and they fall in love. the story was good but I've read way way better from my fav author
Love and Law by: K. Webster Review by: Chelsea Carter Rating: 5 stars! K. Webster does it again with Love and Law! I have been reading Webster’s books since she first released Broken. Love and Law is the story of Maya and Ben, an undercover detective and a drug dealer. Maya had a rough childhood, after witnessing her father’s murder by drug dealers when she was nine, her mother leaves and she grows up with her aunt. Maya and her partner, Miguel are best friends and when Maya goes undercover alone she is extremely nervous and is dead set on infiltrating the drug scene and bringing down the biggest drug lord of Detroit. Ben lives with his Grammy, who is flipping hilarious! Ben lost his parents at age twelve in a drunk driving accident. Ben has been dealing drugs for Oculus since he was young. Ben hates that he has to lie to his Grammy about dealing but he knows that what he does is so he can support them both better than his woodworking business alone ever could. Ben meets Maya on the street and the attraction is immediate so he takes her in to the drug scene to teach her to ropes of dealing. Maya and Ben’s attraction to one another flows throughout the whole story, even though Ben is unaware that Maya is an undercover cop and Maya knows that she could lose her job if she fell for a drug dealer. Will Maya risk her life and career for Ben? How will Ben react when he discovers that she was undercover the whole time they knew each other? Can they both make it through the drug world unharmed and have a future? READ THIS BOOK to find out!! The secondary characters were really good in this book! Grammy cracked me up every time she spoke! Miguel was an amazing partner to Maya and an even better friend! Ben and Maya’s love scenes were HOT!!!! I thought my iPad was going to catch fire! K. Webster knows how to write erotica!! The relationship Maya and Ben form was genuine, despite the lies and betrayal. This is a standalone novel and I would recommend this to all my book loving friends, especially those who have read any of K. Webster’s other books! You will not be disappointed in this book!!
K once again has written some pretty awesome characters. Maya, strong, fierce, independent, loyal, beautiful, smart ass, she's a female cop and she prides herself in being the best, even if the men don't like it. Miguel, he's sweet, sexy, and smooth, he's also Maya's partner... Sometimes he thinks in more ways then one.. In order to keep the great friendship they have she has to keep the line drawn in the sand and let him down easy when he crosses it. But when Maya is called to do under cover ALONE to get to some of the biggest dealers in town... Since Miguel and her have cleaned the streets... As much as they can without going to the top of the food chain, Miguel swears to still have her back, watch, and protect her.. But can he protect her heart?? Ben he's the boss, or at least of his dealers, Maya knows it goes higher than him so she has no choice put to play the part.... Only problem is... Maya and Ben start sharing themselves with eachother (in more ways than one... If you know what I mean) and of course they seem to be doing the one thing that wasn't supposed to happen.. At least not with eachother.. Falling in love... Now Ben while losing both his parents as a kid took up his fathers business, but how could he turn down the deal of a lifetime to make Gram and his life more financially stable especially when the voice asking demands obedience? Gram, you'll love her and her prayers!! She's a hoot! But Ben can't turn this down, so his lies and guilt began. You can imagine Maya has guilt of her own too, for many reasons. She watched her Father get murdered, she's falling for a dealer therefore betraying everything she knows, she's lying to him, and she knows when he finds out it may kill them both, and if course guilt for Miguel though they are not together, they're best friends and she doesn't want to break his heart either, nobody at the station could ever understand. So she essentially is living two lives.... Her heart is being ripped in two... What will she choose.... Love or Law?? Find out now!! It's live and such a great read!!
I'm already a fan of this author, but since I've only read darker style books from her and she's released a whole bunch that aren't quite that dark, I figured I'd dive straight in. I was no disappointed in the slightest! If there was ever a book that was a forbidden love style book it was this one. On the one side you have the law, and the other, the criminal. When the law is sent undercover, the very last thing she expects to happen is to be swept away into one hell of a sexy love story with one of the bad guys. But fall in love she does and I was swept away by all of it. Ben "Pac" was rough around the edges when you first meet him, at least when it pertains to the business he finds himself in, but that boy had so much more going on that it was impossible not to love and root for him. Add in the relationship between him and the woman raising him, his Granny and well, it just made me fall that much more for this "supposed" bad boy. Granny...now there's a woman I didn't see coming, but one that I imagine was born from a very real place. Either the author knew someone like her or was close to someone who had but she oozed realism. Smacking the boy with a magazine for his potty mouth and apologizing during a prayer over dinner for her own cursing, she was downright hilarious and every single time she appeared, even though things before and after may be heavy she evened it out. Needless to say, I feel after reading this that I've experienced another side to the author whose work I've come to enjoy so much over the last few months and can't wait to dive into even more by her. Especially if they're love stories woven the way this one was. This book isn't easy, it deals with some very real subjects even though it is based in fiction, but I enjoyed the love that bloomed for these two most deserving characters. Especially with the road they had to travel in order to finally come out the other side of things and be truly happy. Fantastic read!
This was a pretty good book. There's danger, secrets and love.
Maya was nine years old when she hid under her bed as her father was murdered in her home. Seventeen years later, Maya and her partner Miquel are two of the top cops that play a major role in cleaning up Detroit's streets. She is now faced with her most challenging assignment so far. The plan is for Maya to go undercover and attempt to get in with the local drug dealers to catch the guy in charge. Maya never expected to fall head over heels for Pac (aka Ben). He's the sexy second in command and not at all what Maya expected.
Ben's parents were killed in a car accident when he was a child, so he was raised by his Grammy. Unbeknownst to her, at the age of thirteen, Ben was approached by the main dealer and to sell drugs for him. Ben has successfully kept that part of his life hidden from his Grammy and continued his father's online furniture business. On the streets he's known as Pac. But he's tired of the lies and the guilt he feels, and he's ready to go straight. He doesn't have time for a women to interfere, but from the moment he laid eyes on Maya, he was hooked.
Maya and Ben have instant intense chemistry and are drawn to each other. Neither can stay away. When she's with him, Maya doesn't even think about the consequences of her being a cop. But the closer they become and the harder she falls, she knows when Ben finds out the truth, he'll hate her. Or will he?
This was the first book I've read by this author and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I loved the characters and liked the plot. It's appears to be a standalone book and has the ending we all love as readers.
Wow. The racial stereotypes were awful. The ‘ghetto’ talk and actions. The constant name dropping of black celebs??? Even his nickname was Pac like Tupac. Okay then.
And she was the worst cop ever. The worst undercover cop ever. She told him her name. She was nervous and obvious she was lying. Even when he saw her she was walking ‘lady like’ and then like a ‘thug’. Whatever that is supposed to mean. She also doesn’t act or think like a 26 year old. At all.
On the other hand he was an awful drug dealer. He’s supposed to be this guy’s right hand man, YET he is also a wood maker or something. When is he exactly doing those? And he just grabs these girls to make them drug dealers?? I don’t even know.
So I know that K. Webster has written a lot of books and while I haven’t read all of them yet, I thought I knew pretty much all of the ones she had out there and then low and behold I got online this morning and I see this K. Webster cover for Love and Law and I pulled the Minion, “Whaaat???” I had no idea what was going on and then I saw that it was cover re-reveal post and that the book was already available. I’m already excited at this point, but then I read the synopsis and I’m just like I have to read the book NOW! I didn’t care that I was literally in the middle of another book, I ditched that book, got this one, and dove in. I just couldn’t wait to read it because it’s somewhat in the same troupe, whatever you want to call it, as El Malo and I LOVED El Malo, so yeah, there was no way I wasn’t not going to read Love and Law. I loved El Malo more, but Love and Law was just excellent and I loved it!
Maya is a tough, feisty, and balls-to-the-wall heroine. She’s strong, she’s a boss, and she gets things done. Maya is fierce, confident, and she can take care of herself. There’s more to her than just that though. She gets all soft and sweet around Ben and she lets him get to her. Maya is a wonderful heroine and I really loved her.
And I loved Ben, there’s a lot more to him than meets the eye too. Yeah, he’s not really on the right side of the law, but he’s genuinely a good guy. He’s sweet and protective of the people he cares about and he would do absolutely anything for them. Ben is just as wonderful a hero as Maya is as a heroine and I loved him just as much.
Love and Law was a fast read, but it was full of steam and the passion between Maya and Ben just leaps off the page. You feel their connection and it’s scorching and heart pounding and heart melting. Love and Law was a fantastic little read and I need to check out and see if Ms. Webster has anymore books hiding out there that I don’t know about!
Love and Law is a standalone told from Ben and Maya’s POV and they do get their HEA.
Maya is a brilliant detective who is assigned a new case. She has to infiltrate a gang of drug dealers and pose as a saleswoman. She is recruited by Ben, who works for one of the biggest drug traffickers in the city. The attraction between Ben and Maya immediately arises, but Ben does not quite trust her bc he catches her in several lies and that is that Maya’s brain short circuits when Ben is close. Maya knows that her story with Ben cannot work bc if he finds out that she is a cop he may possibly kill her. And if not, Ben’s Boss, Oculus, with whom Maya has unfinished business, will do it. Super sweet Grammy and I love how blesses the food.
Crossing the line between Love and Law can be deadly.
This is an amazing story with great characters. Maya was just nine years old when her father was killed by drug dealers. Seventeen years later she is now the youngest and only female African American detective. She is asked to go undercover to bring down one of the biggest drug dealers in town. She meets Ben "Pac" Cartwright, he is the second to drug lord Oculus and is out recruiting new females to peddle their drugs. When they meet sparks fly. Grab this intriguing book to find out what happens between Ben and Maya. Will Ben forgive Maya if he finds out she's a cop or will he abandon her when she needs him most? Will Maya be able to keep her personal feelings out of her investigation? To find out grab this book, you will not be disappointed.
This story was quickly more passionate and obscure. These are opposite sides where an undercover police officer and a drug dealer collide, and their world is turned upside down. Ben does everything to have a comfortable life with his grandmother, even if he deprives her of her life on the streets. Maya wants justice for what happened to her father as a child. Can two people from different worlds trust each other? Will Maya and Ben have a happy ending?
Love and Law was a pleasant read, if you are looking for a superhero story this book is not for you. Now if you are looking for a book in which crime, passion, love and justice are incorporated, read Love and Law.
I’ve been kind of in a book rut, where I don’t read that much anymore or it takes me a while to finish a book. This book changed that. I sometimes feel I’m reading the same book over and over but this, this was something totally different and I loved every minute of it. I read finished it in a couple hours. You can’t help but connect with the characters and fall in love with Benjamin and the way he sweet talks and Maya (my heart!) Story made me smile, made me cry. Love the connection the two had. Will definitely be reading more from the author!
I am always satisfied with this authors books. She always keeps me up to lean gaged actively engaged and on the edge of my seat. Her stories have suspense, drama, love, sexy time, and all the perfect elements of a story.
Absolutely adored this story about Ben and Maya. Their feelings for each other were pretty much instant even though they didn’t know anything real about each other. A quick sweet and steamy read!
this is very bad, weak narrative with characters without charisma. I thought it was terrible that she felt in love in less than 24 hours and I don’t know what the genre is but it looks like an erotic book because in each chapter they were fucking, in short the book is based only on that.
