She s running on empty and he s ready to fill her up.
"Hot Rods, Book 5"
After watching his mother crumble in the face of heartbreak, Holden believes monogamy is bull. New week, new woman, that s just how he rolls. Too bad one taste of Sabra Harp leaves him salivating for more.
Sabra was ready for the climb from local news reporter to national anchor before her pursuit of a story almost destroyed the Hot Rods, whose friendship she has admired from afar. Too bad they all hate her guts. That s okay, she despises what she s become too enough that she s just told her boss where to stick it.
When Holden drives a drunken Sabra home and puts her to bed, her blatant invitation almost has him following her between the sheets. She s willing to let him take charge in bed, friends included and he s willing to listen to her amazing business proposition, which could rocket the Hot Rods to stardom.
Yet as his friends have paired off, Holden realizes that to participate in their polyamorous games without becoming a third wheel, he needs Sabra. And she needs him oh, how she needs him.
Contains a career-driven newswoman/yoga fiend who wants to get twisted up with a Hot Rod or five and a what s-mine-is-yours guy who likes to watch. One scene with non-explicit drug use takes a Hot Rod to the dark side good thing this group of friends always has each other s backs."

Probably would've liked this more if I had read the previous books in the series and got to know the characters a little better. As it was, I was getting confused with all the (guy) characters and their nicknames (took me a while to realize their nicknames all were models of cars--I think--duh!)
There were some good moments, but...Anyway, maybe a little too kinky for my tastes!
Omg! I love this series so much, It just gets better and better with each book. Goodness the sex positions that Sabra get into because of her yoga
The end of the book broke my heart❣ I cried my eyes out I'm anxious to start the next book to find out whats going on. But it's 4:54 in the morning and I haven't even been to bed yet, And if I start reading it now I'll never get to sleep.
The best Hot Rods yet! There is one thing that consistently bugs me about this series, though. The damn nicknames. I have such a hard time keeping them straight and the author goes back and forth between their given names and nicknames rather randomly. It's a bit to keep up with... But...
I loved Holden. He's sensitive, but tough and very protective of his chosen family. He's a bit damaged, from his nightmare of a childhood (the nightmares linger). And he has a crush on a certain newscaster that inadvertently put his friends Bryce and Kaelyn in danger.
Sabra is that certain news woman. And she is really really into yoga, so she is quite bendy (who wouldn't want that!). She's smart and independent and determined. Not a bad combo. And, she's heard rumors of the Hot Rod's extra curricular activities and isn't turned off by it. Just the opposite.
What I liked here was that Holden never had to hide who he was. He held back a bit, but he didn't shield Sabra from his friends. And that was hot.
We also get some build up of the next book in the series, which I was already looking forward to before this one came out. Roman and Carver. Damn. I cannot wait. Roman seems to be the most damaged of all the Hot Rod's and as much as he tries to seem strong, I'm not sure he is. Carver has his work cut out for him there. The ending of this one really left me wanting more.
I have read the rest of the series and it's quite good but there are moments when it's repetitive within each book but great for a short read.... meet the crew!!!!
Swinger Style, the 5th book in the Hot Rod series, was an emotional, off-the-charts steamy read. Learning the Hot Rods background, what their lives were like prior to them coming together as a family... can truly be heartbreaking. And Swinger's flashback actually had me in tears. After that, I was rooting even harder for him to find a love of his own. And boy did he! Sabra was definitely a good match. Strong and no stranger to adversity, she fit him perfectly. And can we say I am a bit jealous of Sabra? The positions she could contort herself into as a yoga devotee... man, I wish I had that flexibility!
You better consider yourself lucky if you get to the end of this book without your emotions all over the place. This book is extra steamy, it has strong friendships, extra doses of strong love and enough of a plot line to cause this reviewer to need a cold drink. If you have read the 1st books in this series then you will fall head first for swinger (Holden & Sabra) too, their story just might melt your kindle. Happy reading Oh and I can't wait to post this and start on Roman and Cravers story the teaser was intense.
Absolutely loving this series, great characters and laughs along the way,you do need to read all the series in order to get all the characters story lines but well worth it would recommended
I give this book 5 stars. I whole heartedly recommend this book. It was well written and has lots of love and how they can over come life's challenges. A must read.
I fell in love with the Powertools, and was excited that the Hotrods spin off was continuing the story lines. But this installment took the series to a whole new level. I loved that we got an in depth look at the new dynamics with the two crews. I also loved that Jayne really exposed the individual hot rods and their issues so in depth. Holden really hadn't been in the light as much as some of the others had, and Roman is heard from a lot. I get it, being that his will be the next in line, but it was bigger than that. This story line as well really got to me, so much more than Rebels did. Holden is torn because he has feelings for Sabra, even though he thinks she betrayed the hotrods for her career. When he finds out that she really didn't, he wants her even more. When he takes her home after she quit her job, things start heating up, until she drops the bombshell about what she would like to do next for her career. Sabra fell for Holden almost immediately, and being a journalist help her uncover some info that was making her hotter still! Knowing that all the hotrods were intimate with each other touched her in ways that turned her on so much. And that they were doing great things for adoptions and the shelter just screamed for her to make a show that could get them more exposure, but hopefully none for their extracurricular exploits. Unfortunately her ex-boss has been promoted, which will through a wrench in her plans to get the show up and running for a mid season replacement. There is no way that sleazebag will let her succeed after leaving him in a bad position. Roman is in a funk when Carver enjoys introducing Sabra to the hotrods. But why is he reacting the way he is? Its not like Carver was doing something he hadn't with the others? Things go from bad to worse at the end of the book. Stay tuned for the next book in the series! This book has everything you could want. I wanted to share more in my review, but I just don't want to spoil the amazing story! I went through every emotion and then some with this book. There is sadness, heartbreak, epic losses, scorching sexiness, joy, fear, love, revelations, unexpected moments, and a killer cliff hanger/ perfect tease inside this one book! Oh, and don't forget about the amazing sexcapades as well! This one book has it all! Grab this read, and maybe a fire extinguisher, and hang on for an amazing ride!
When Jayne Rylon talked about doing the spinoffs of the Powertools series, I didn’t think I could love these guys as much as the crew. I mean the crew has a big chunk of my heart, but LAWD was I wrong!! This newest addition to the series, Swinger Style, is just freaking fantastic!! She has really out done herself with the greatness of this book. Holden aka Swinger is just that type of character that grabs you by all that you are, and doesn’t let go until long after you have hit the end of his story. Swinger like all of the Hot Rods had a rough childhood before coming to be a part of the family that Tom has created with these boys and Sally. That up bringing has him holding a part of himself back from what he wants most, and what he wants most is to make Sabra his. Also to share her with his the Hot Rods, but he just doesn’t trust that he can have what the other guys have found. After the incent with the news report that out-ed Bryce Kaelyn, Sabra has found herself out of a job and on the wrong side of Swinger. She has a plan for her future, but it all depends on if the Hot Rods accept her apology and are willing to work with her. No problem right?? Except she has to get through the sexy hunk of man that is Swinger to even get them to consider her plan. The chemistry between these two is downright explosive!! And LAWD is it smoking hot when they do get together!! Sabra being an expert in some extreme yoga makes for some very interesting positions. And for the love of all that is holy don’t try them at home, unless you are super bendy too. I have a feeling it would end in an er visit for most of us mere humans. Hehehehe .. But seriously I can’t recommend this book and series enough!!! Read them today!! You will not be sorry you did!! :)
Thoroughly enjoyed this latest edition to the Hot Rods. Every time I read a new one the focus of that book becomes my favorite, and Swinger is no exception. Even still, throughout the book my interest was definitely piqued by Meep and Barracuda and the end... OMG the end. I CANNOT WAIT for the next one - December 23rd cannot come fast enough.
Okay, back to this book. My heart completely broke for Swinger during his dream sequence. Oh my God that poor baby Swinger. I just love him. Sabra's okay. I think that's a bit of a trend in Jayne Rylon's books for me - I love love love the boys and the girls I'm kinda like "meh". I think maybe I needed more from the very opening scene when she quit her job to really feel connected to her. The scene when she goes to pitch the show and has the run in with her old boss definitely made me feel like I was on team Sabra for the first time (and that was a little late in the book for just feeling connected). The yoga stuff seemed like it was just a little show-off-y instead of arousing, but maybe that's b/c I'm not a dude? And what the heck kind of name is Sabra?
So basically: Swinger: <3<3<3<3<3 Sabra: <3 thus the book's average is a 3.
Side note: Am I the only one who has a hard time with all of the names/nicknames in this series? I think it's a two-fold problem: 1) they were all introduced by name and nickname right from the start, so it was like meeting 14 characters instead of 7. 2) the nicknames, to me (a car non-enthusiast) don't mean anything. With the exception of Meep I don't feel like the nicknames elicit any meaning for me or insight into their personalities so it's hard to keep them straight.
I wasn't sure I was going to like this one. But I did.
I wasn't that impressed with Sabra, who had a stupid name (kept thinking it was too similar to a mall pizza chain (*cough* Sbarro *cough*), which the image really didn't go away with the fact that her parents owned a pizza restaurant, AND she lived over a pizza place as an adult). Not to mention it was only 70 pages into the book that the fact that she was Asian American came out (might have been mentioned in the previous book?), and so the picture in my head was very skewed. She was also extremely vain, and so yoga obsessed. It was almost annoying. I think also instead of just naming all the yoga positions she was doing, they should have been described better, since it was difficult to imagine what was going on as I know only minimal yoga poses.
Holden was an interesting character, who was a bit selfish (technically he could have ruined the entire group dynamic by instigating the partner swapping), and kind of sort of is responsible for what happened to Roman later on. (The whole partner swapping, sparking jealousy or whatever, and thus causing him to storm off etc). It was not intentional, but it happened none the less, and they were all just like 'ehh, whatevs.'
My heart literally hurt at the end of the book with the Roman / Carver cliff hanger. I know the next book is going to be extremely emotional.
We always say that Jayne Rylon is not gonna be able to surpass her previous work, why we keep saying it is beyond stupid, because off course once again she has. Swinger's book starts with the turmoil Rebel's book left us. Swinger is a book of loss, desperation, abandonment, disdain, cowardice, addiction, negligence and so many other things that hunts from the past. This book is most importantly a story about how with love, compassion, perseverance, that fear of not belonging because of the past hunting you, we can have friendships and family that chooses you for who you are. And how those friendships and family, with their love teach you to be yourself with insecurities and all, because you do matter and they believe in your talent and potential.
When the going gets tough hot rods close ranks and hold one another. The story flows flawlessly, as always we keep learning more and more about the characters that frustrastes us but that we have grown to love through the hand and the genious mind of Jayne Rylon.
Have to say is a must read. And to say that I'm anxious for the next to come out is am understatement.
Praise Jayne Rylon and the brilliant way to raise awareness for causes like adoption and how important it is in order to help children receive the love they were denied from his parents.
Jayne Rylon has once again taken us on a thrilling ride in her latest Hot Rod book, Swinger Style and I did not want it to end. Her storytelling is brilliant and the one she told about Holden's painful childhood was emotional, heartbreaking and brought me to tears. I enjoyed watching Holden lower his guard and admit his attraction to Sabra, who has made her share of mistakes against Holden's Hot Rod family. I liked that Sabra was willing to put herself out there and ask for forgiveness and tried her best to make amends. I love the special bond that all the Hot Rods have with each other and that they welcomed Sabra with open arms. Holden and Sabra had tons of chemistry and the sex scenes with him and the rest of the gang was scorching hot, hot, hot. I love seeing the dynamics of each of the couples and that there is no jealousy among them when they engage in their special kind of loving. This author sure knows how to turn on the heat and this summer just got even hotter. Jayne proves time and time again with each story she writes why she is one of my favorites. Now, I cannot wait to read the next book in this series after that exciting ending.
Loved Sabra and Holden, they have to be my 2nd favourite couple (sorry Bryce and Kaelin are just too perfect) of the hot rods!!!
Trouble is, now I am going to be anxiously awaiting our last hot rod's story, because Carver and Roman, I think, are going to break my heart while they find theirs
This installment of our ongoing, polyamourous mechanics has that sweetie Holden out in front. He has found his ying to his yang, and enters it as he means to go forward. Luckily, unlike some of the others beforehand, Sabra is well aware of the hot rod situation. She knows what to expect, and is raring to go!
Holden knows he needs to solidify his bond with her, so he takes his time before making her one of their own. By the time it happens, she has already bonded with the rest, so it is a natural and expected conclusion
This also marks the beginning of the actual 'swinging' with the hot rods, which of course, had to happen in Swinger Style!
Holden is very attracted to Sabra, but still has an issue with the fact that she put Bryce and Kaelyn in danger. She also lost her job over it. She has an idea that might just work, but that would mean the Hot Rods accepting her apology and agreeing to what she has in mind for them and for her. First stop is face to face with Swinger/Holden. This begins it all with them. Damn! They are a 4 hose fire for sure as they share some scorching hot moments that include Sabra getting pretty bendy using her Yoga training.
There is so much that I love about Holden and Sabra. Holden is super sweet and protective of those he loves. He had quite the childhood which brought him to the HR family. I adore Sabra as well. She is strong and smart and fights for what and who she cares about. Love them together.
I absolutely LOVE this series! I can't wait to read the next one!
Terrific writing ! Holden (Swinger) and Sabra find love !! This great addition to the series is so worth reading. I love the deeply thought filled characters, interesting twists and turns, and rich fulfilling emotion. These stories layer on each other, filling gaps and true romance within the polyamory group. The sex is hot and well done. The feelings are so real. I like the reminder of the Powertools crew affections. Those people opened The Hot Rods, Eli and Alonso's, eyes and hearts to the way of life, and help them make the relationships so much more. I am hooked on these characters, and look forward to more. Next we have the guys, Roman (Barracuda) and Carver (Meep). Roman has trouble dealing with his feelings. They left off with Roman attempting suicide and the next story takes off from there. More love and understanding from the "misfits" who have forged a family and love in there Hot Rod circle. ENJOY !!
I finish reading Swinger Style last night. I want to by the next book right then and there and I remember it is not out yet. Jayne has done it again. After Rebel On The Run with the twist at the end of that book I thought Jayne would not do that to us but she does. I do not give a way the book because it not me. You will want to see what happens next. Swinger Style is about Holden and Sabra. Their story as a little of everything love, hate, sex and some other things. Jayne has a way to tell a story that has you wanting to see what is going to happen next. If you have read the Hot Rod Series then this book will not disppiont you at all. If you have read the Powertool series then you will love this series and the book. If you have not read this series I recomand that you read the series and the book.
I love love love the PowerTools..I knew I wasn't as in love with the Hot Rods. Now l have really grown to like these guys and gals, I really like how Jayne Rylon keeps the two crews in eachothers business, both crews are really a family to the other and I think that's what is so appealing about these books, however the"hook ups" are sexy sexy..; Thanks Jayne for making me get out of my comfort zone and read something very different. I hope the last installment is Roman and Carver's story , with the Hot Rod and Power Tools gangs thrown together for a lot of fun fun fun..:)
Sabra Harp wasn't looking for trouble, but it found her anyway. Holden had asked her for one simple thing. Keep Bryce and Kae out of the footage of Kaige and Nola's engagement. Somehow, the footage appeared and caused problems for the couple. Now, Holden is upset - rightfully so - but Sabra can't help the feelings of attaction she has for him.
Ms. Rylon has written a story of two people who's initial mistrust of each other must be overcome to heal the wounds to their hearts and she does a wonderful job.
Holden and Sabras story is full of jokes, puns, sex and sadness. The Crew gets even closer as they gain a new member. Secrets are told and love is shared. I think this is the Hottest HotRods of the series. On pins and needles wanting to know about all of the future possibilities Ms. Rylon dropped in this book too. What a fantastic storyteller! Jayne Rylon is a MUST read!
Sabra is just what Holden needed. She's a strong, good hearted woman, who's not willing to let anyone keep her down. He needs someone with a lot of love, willing to share his life in all ways. Can she do it?
I so love the Crew & the Hot Rods!! Talk about open-mindedness!! Takes a lot of love & conversation!!!
I really hope that Barracuda' s story comes out in October, read that somewhere. Earlier would be great, but please not later!! I feel his pain.
Every Hot Rods book gets better and better..you just don't think she can out-do the last one but Jayne Rylon is full of surprises and so much fucking sexiness that it just oozes from her books. There is nothing better than books full of lots and lots of group fucking and sucking. Jayne never fails to disappoint me..I am seriously addicted to her and her books. Oh to be in the shoes of the lucky ladies of the Hot Rods crew *shiver* to have all that attention of you..yes please!!!
the only problem with this book is that it will be a while before the next one comes out to see what happens next. I love this series and can't wait for more. Great characters and a wonderful story about how the Hot Rods come together and love each other through some crazy stuff but it makes them stronger. Great read
