DeLeo's Action Thriller Singles #1

Sotello: Detective, ex-FBI, ex-Secret Service

Rate this book
Jim Sotello, runs a detective agency out of Oakland, California with the help of his college age daughter and son. In the space of a few weeks time, the world he took for granted turns upside down. From an unexpectedly dangerous caseload, threatening his own family's very existence, Sotello weaves his way into a run for the Governor's Office of California on the Republican Party ticket. As he honestly professes his ultra-conservative views, Sotello shockingly enthralls the hearts and minds of the California voting public, making him into an overnight sensation. In Sotello's campaign, he vows to form a steel wall against terrorist infiltration, and out of control illegal immigration across California's porous borders and ports.

His soaring ascent, in the polls, brings his foes scurrying from their holes in an attempt to defeat Sotello, or remove him entirely. Between special interest groups, and foreign sponsored terrorists, Jim Sotello's twelfth hour campaign becomes a roller coaster ride into danger.

Tremendous plot line where a conservative businessman runs for governor of uber liberal California when the front runner steps down at the last minute. The threats and attacks against a strong conservative running for public office are very believable and frightening at the same time. This book could be a prediction of things to come as the "Golden State" becomes increasingly liberal and less tolerant to anything conservative. - Wild Bill53

I am a professional writer with numerous best-sellers, and read quite a lot, but Bernard Lee DeLeo is one of the purest writing talents I have ever had the pleasure of reading - a brilliant writing talent that I can only envy. - James Byron Huggins

Another great thriller from DeLeo

I loved the Jim Sotello character, his thoughts on the mess this country is in fits my feelings to a tee. We could only wish this guy was the real thing instead of fictional character. You owe it to yourself check out his views, just wish he was the real thing oops I said that before.

won't appeal to everyone

but if you think it's a requirement that you should be able to read and write when you graduate from high school maybe you will like this book. if you think protecting our borders is a good idea, once again you may like this book. if you've read other novels by Mr Deleo and understand his love for America you will definitely like this book. I LOVED IT.

I just can't believe how good this author is!!!

From seals to marines to private detectives the action and humans r just keeps coming. I will buy anything he says write happily. I'm getting depressed that I'm almost at the he last book to read. Do yourself a favor and get started on his books. You will be glad you did. I rate every single one a 5 star.

Sote!lo

This book was good but not as exciting as the others I read. He expressed everything I felt but I wasn't as impressed with the book as I should have been. I'll read #2 and see where it goes.

Good Read!

The character of the story have a way of getting you like them & root for them. The story was very entertaining and a refreshing way to consider what would happen if we could get someone that could actually do what Sotello says he will do becoming Goverer!

This was a very good, although a long book to read. I wouldn't have thought a run for political office could have been made so entertaining. Give it a try, I think you will enjoy.

Wow, what a book!

Probably one of the better books so far by this author, same great storyline about American values as before, never dull.

Ridiculous

The book started ok but the ridiculous political bs revealed the authors lack of ability to continue with a narrative without the use of fantastical artifices.

This is a great read! I was held captive by this novel from the first chapter and it didn't let me go until the very end. The main character, Jim Sotello, is a strong and powerful man who has such strong beleifs and family value that it was easy for me just to fall in love with him. There is so much that goes on in this novel that the author could have easily made it into a serial series and it would have worked.

The Sotello family not only consists of Jim and his kids, Ellen and Craig, but it extends to many of the people who have entered their lives. Each and every character is so well developed within the story that I had a hard time believing it to be fiction at some points.

The way Jim communicates with his children and some of the conversations they have in the book at times made me feel like I was ease dropping on personal conversations. Such well written dialogue is hard to come by.
There was also one point in this novel where I was brought to tears. I won't go into much detail as I don't want to give away any of the book but at this point in the book something happens to Ellen and she is concerned with the way she looks. Her father looks at her and tells her she looks beautiful. The setting and the passion in that part of the story brought me to tears.

As with all of Bernard Lee Deleo's novels there is a lot of humor with some suspense thrown that keeps the story moving along at the perfect pace.

This is a novel for anyone with strong family values and for anyone who loves America and all it stands for.

I love the Sotellos

This book has more than 600 pages and I didn't want it to end! What a wonderful story, about Jim Sotello, former Marine, former FBI agent, former Secret Service, private investigator, and candidate for Governor of California.

Every time I read a DeLeo book, I think it is the best one yet, but this one is definitely the star on top of the Christmas tree. As always, there are lots of typos, but my favorite is "ice cycle" instead of "icicle"!
