Amelia Monroe had felt the sharp pain from the loss of a soldier before-Adam Monroe's death didn't have that same effect. \
Sam Jackson had one job-deliver Adam Monroe's revised will. Even he couldn't have anticipated that he'd be entangled in the web of lies his client had woven.
Doing what is right had been inbred in Amelia. She'd planned to say her goodbyes and start fresh. Staying in Adam's small town with his other lies, that wasn't part of her plan.
Bestselling Author Bernadette Marie writes contemporary romances and believes in Happily Ever After. The married mother of five believes in love at first sight, quick love, and second chances. OK, so it is bad that I LOVE the story overall .... one man, 3 women ... really? How am I NOT supposed to love that! I can tell you I've seen Lifetime movies about this, but I've never read this kind of story. It was interesting to say the least. And really, quite hilarious, to me, because that's how I roll! LOL Because of the 'tangled web' I could not stop reading. And when I say I could not stop, I went straight into Penelope's story after finishing Amelia's. I just couldn't stop. And I will be RUNNING to the store to grab Vivian's story as soon as it comes out. I'm not going to give away the plot, just know that Ms Marie has a way of drawing you into the story and not letting go. Her characters are real and you fell what they feel! This story was amazing!
Adam Monroe is killed in combat, when a landmine in Iraq takes his life. He leaves behind three wives, who meet at his funeral… As shocking as that is, the three Mrs. Monroes are in for an even bigger surprise, in the form of a revised will.
Sam Jackson was Adam’s attorney, and in charge of reading the will to the three Mrs. Monroes. His job should have ended there, but it doesn’t. Sam wants to help these three ladies, in any way that he can, especially Amelia… Not that she has ever needed a man’s help before.
Book 1 of The Three Mrs. Monroes is Amelia’s story.
My Thoughts
There is so much to like about Amelia’s story, that I don’t know where to start, so I will start with Amelia herself. I liked Amelia straight off the bat. She is cool, confident, and composed, despite her world shattering all around her. She wasn’t afraid to break the rules, or someone’s nose… :) Amelia is what I would call an alpha-heroine.
I really enjoyed Author Bernadette Marie’s writing style. She ended nearly every chapter with a cliff-hanger, making this book a page turner! I loved that!
This novel could have taken a completely different turn. It could have been a depressing tale of dishonesty and betrayal. Instead, the author turned “lemons into lemonade”. Tragedy becomes triumph, and Amelia gets her happily-ever-after in the end. <3
I highly recommend this series to fans of contemporary romance with alpha-heroines! I can’t wait to read book 2 of The Mrs. Monroes series, featuring Penelope’s story!
I was given a copy of this novel in exchange for a fair, thoughtful, and honest book review. This in no way swayed my rating.
Adam Monroe dies in combat, and his ex-wife Amelia is summoned back to his small hometown for the reading of his will. She attends his funeral, staying in the back of the church, avoiding his first wife Vivian and their two children. Adam's third wife Penelope slides in next to her, heartbroken. Amelia didn't plan to stick around after the reading of the will, but circumstances beyond imagination keeps Amelia there. This is the start of a three book series, and it is awesome!
Adam Monroe was a nasty piece of pond scum. Okay, he’d died a soldier in a battle for honor and country. But he was still little better than pond scum. Simply because a male is in the military and was killed in a war zone does not make him a hero or an honorable man to the three women back in the states who are living with the mountain of lies that was Adam Monroe’s legacy to them and their children.
Amelia made the trip to Oklahoma for Adam’s funeral. And the meeting with the lawyer which apparently was required. She watched wife number one sitting with her two young daughters and watched wife number three walk into the church and sit close to her and Sam Jackson, the lawyer… and wondered how in the hell this had come to be. How could three intelligent women be taken in by the lies of one man who proclaimed love but never had a clue how to belong to just one woman. Little did she know that the surprises Adam had for their lives was far, far from over.
Amelia sets the base for the series The Three Mrs. Monores. In this first story we are introduced to the main players – Amelia, the second wife and in many ways the leader of the group of woman – Penelope, the third wife a young, idealistic, naive woman with more to handle than first impressions might give – Vivian, the first wife and mother of two young daughters, angry, bitter and the one with the most years invested in Adam’s lies.
A military brat herself, Amelia is a strong woman who takes crap from no man or woman. She was in the process of divorcing Adam at the time of his death.. So in some ways she has already begun the grieving process, but the most she feels is anger toward a man who could live this kind of lie and hurt so many people.
Sam has some idea how much the news he will deliver at the meeting will further devastate these women. While it’s obvious that Amelia has already begun to move on from her marriage to Adam, what he is about to hand her now will show if she is strong enough to handle anything as her personality so far has shown him. It doesn’t help that he’s attracted to this strong willed, capable, sexy woman… but that will have to be shelved, but not for long if he has his way.
Amelia – book one of The Three Mrs. Monroes is an emotional roller coaster. You will despise Adam for what his choice has done to these women. You will also find that each woman has an inner strength that they never believed possible. They will handle this unusual situation with tears, anger, laughter and eventually hope. It’s also a love story for Amelia and Sam, but their story is woven into the overall tale seamlessly. It is a journey that you will not want to miss. While I picked up this story as part of The Three Wives of Adam Monroe bundle which had all three stories in one – you can also pick them up individually. I’ll be reviewing each as a separate story.
I won this book in a giveaway here on goodreads.Amelia is the first book in a trilogy, the other 2 books being named Penelope and Vivian. These 3 women have something in common: Adam Monroe was a husband for each of them but sadly he died in Iraq, doing his job as a soldier and saving lives. However from another point of view, this does not justify that he betrayed these 3 women, leaving them not only in debts, but also in sadness, anger, bitterness, loneliness, all at once.Vivian is his first wife, she has 2 daughters with Adam.Amelia is his second wife and his third is Penelope. They are shocked to know about Adam”s recklessness, which is quite an understatement, but life has some surprises left for them.Lawyer Sam Jackson comes in the picture also, to read Adam”s will and maybe to gain some space in Amelia”s heart. He likes her because she is a strong woman, she does not let her emotions come out that easily, she wants to help people, but also men could be taken down if they dare to upset her in some way, after all she knows martial arts.Vivian is the sophisticated one, dedicated to her daughters, she has a strong character also, but sadness and disappointment have passed through her door since Adam did what he did.Penelope is the most sensitive one, she cries a lot.Amelia, Vivian and Penelope loved Adam , each in their own way.Amelia seems to have overcome this betrayal in some way, though wasting 2 years of her life for a liar, was not what she had in mind. So, they become a team, trying to start a business of their own, to solve their financial problems but in the same time they have to work together to overcome all obstacles and the sadness and unanswered questions that Adam left them with.Actually, in this novel, i like the characters, how the story goes, even if there is not so much surprise in it, i mean you kind of guess really fast what is going to happen next. And at the end the reader gets a really nice preview for book 2 -Penelope, yeah definitely i would be interested in reading the last 2 books in the trilogy and to see how Penelope and Vivian”s life will go on.Still, if i were to choose, Amelia is my favourite, she is so brave and the way she is trying to make things right, is amazing.
When her husband dies in Afghanistan, what Amelia Monroe doesn't expect to discover is that Adam had three wives. The Three Mrs. Monroes all converge at Adam's funeral and after a near disastrous meeting, an unlikely alliance is formed.
Amelia is wife number two and for much of her marriage Adam was deployed and they were apart. When she discovers his bigamy, any vestige of love she'd felt was gone and it's very easy for her to move forward.
As Adam's attorney, Sam has one job and it's to present the will to his widows. He and Amelia have an immediate connection and while staying in a small Oklahoma town isn't part of her plan, Amelia finds herself drawn there. As she gets to know Adam's other wives and learns that her marriage was the only legal one, she can't just leave. She feels an obligation to Penelope who is pregnant and Vivian who has Adam's two daughters. The three wives form an unlikely partnership as they try and move on and deal with the aftermath their husband left behind.
The premise for The Three Mrs. Monroes series is an interesting one: what happens when three wives of the same man all meet at his funeral. The book is a quick read and easily read in one or two sittings. I liked Amelia although she was a little rough around the edges and I'm glad that Penelope and Vivian will each have their own book so we can get to know them easier.
While not graphic, there is non-marital intimacy and the characters have no moral qualms about it.
Another great book from Bernadette Marie! From start to finish "Amelia" kept my interest, and I was able to read the book in one sitting. The book starts with Amelia going to a funeral because her husband died in Afghanistan and from there Amelia finds herself and two other women in a very difficult situation. Amelia steps up and through some ups and downs creates a lasting bond with the other two women. I really loved Amelia because of her strong caring nature, and her need to take control of the situation. Even though she plays this "hard" woman she manages to open herself up to the most unlikely people gaining new friends and even a romantic relationship. "Amelia" is full of love, heartbreak, and friendship. Can't wait to read the rest of the series! I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
This is a great book that shows the strength of women through the loss of her husband. Sadly, Amelia's husband was married to 2 other women besides herself. Showing up at his funeral from dying in Afghanistan, Amelia sits and watches as his 1st and last wife struggle with the knowledge they were not the one and only. Amelia has the strength to help all 3 of them through the darkest moments of their lives. This is the first of 3 books focusing on Amelia moving forward. I enjoyed it so much I read it within 1 sitting. I have already purchased the other 2 books to this series to see how it ends!! ** I received a free copy for an honest review**
Amelia was from the beginning a very strong and I admire her for it. Indeed discovered that her husband has two more wives! And despite it all mastered. Her husband was a soldier and died .. and she was at his funeral meets with his other wives and Sam. Sam was a friend of her husband Adam-and now cares about his will. And fate will play with the main characters again and to this story gets even love.
How does this story end? Amelie will be able to love again? ☺
This story I really liked. Too well read, and I recommend to read all women and girls.!!! ☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺
I got so wrapped up in this book that I finished it in one afternoon. I love the strength of character that Amelia demonstrates when put in a difficult situation where she meets her recently deceased husband's two other wives. She shows compassion toward these woman and helps to make their lives better while engaging in a romance with a new man. I highly recommend this one and can't wait to read about the other two women in the sequels.
I enjoyed this book. The main character is a strong woman but not without her own issues. As the story develops and you get to know the characters a bond develops between them that all women can relate to. I would recommend this book to those readers who enjoy a romance with a twist. I am looking forward to reading the next two books in the series.

A sugar-sweet story about moving on from a cheater’s death? That's how the story felt like to me. Although the story lacks any real interesting characters, it is still good enough. The storyline is pretty simple and is easy to follow. Everything happens super fast in this book. People are extremely trusting in this town I guess. Read more at kryppticbooks.wordpress.com.
Extremely well written story with a wonderful cast of characters. Marie draws you into this story full of family, love, grief, devotion and mystery. I truly enjoy the interaction of Amelia, Penelope and Vivan and how a tragedy could bring three women so close together in every aspect of their lives. I give this book a 5 star rating. And even though this is a series this book is a must read.
I won this book in a giveaway and 5 stars for this book are not enough, I give it 100, wow and I just started reading it last night and just finished 10:10 in the morning.
